1001  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] BTC [W] 200 EUR PayPal 1:1 on: September 19, 2023, 09:07:53 AM
As the title says, I have Bitcoin and I want 200 EUR PayPal at preev rate 1:1. Trusted members only or members that I have dealt with in the past and I prefer that you go first. Anyone who has an interest in filling this, post here.
Thank you in advance. Cool

I would be very happy to offer you this trade. I am not a trusted member, but I find this as an opportunity to increase my trust. I will pay first. (We must be from the same country, even though this shouldn't be important)
1002  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] PayPal [W] BTC on: September 19, 2023, 08:44:01 AM
I got around 150€ in PayPal that I want to convert into BTC.
If anyone want to trade I can give you a offer of like 5% over market price (so you make 5% of the amount traded), or if anyone know where I best can convert PayPal funds to BTC i would be greatful.

I am new on this forum, but have no problem to send first to a member without negative feedback and some years on the neck here.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I don't use paypal personally, so I can't personally help you buy BTC, but regarding this:

Quote
or if anyone know where I best can convert PayPal funds to BTC i would be greatful.

1. you can generally use PayPal as a means of payment to any exchange in order to buy BTC. Most exchanges require KYC, so it is not ideal.
2. you wait for someone here to help you out. There are people here who are absolutely trustworthy.
3. you can use Bisq or Robosats. They are esentially non-KYC marketplaces for bitcoin. You can find multiple resources on YouTube to help you.
1003  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanity Address Generator in Java on: September 18, 2023, 06:14:42 PM
Can we run it on android phones? I have tried to run  jar files on my android before but I couldn't find a compatible runtime for my phone.
Nowadays everyone should develop apps/tools for both desktop and phone devices. So I wonder if you have any benchmark to share with us, though I think java is very slow when it comes to key generation process.
I will try it later on my laptop and will report back, if I can manage to successfully run it, I have no experience with java.

Unfortunately you can't run it on Android. I will try to create an executable file for ease of use. Looking forward to hearing from you.
1004  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Vanity Address Generator in Java on: September 18, 2023, 05:00:38 PM
I have developed a vanity address generator in Java. The purpose is solely academic.

You can find the code here: the code is obsolete and shouldn't be used, therefore I removed it. If anyone wants to see it for some reason, send me a PM

There is a README file, but I will give the instructions here also.

Instructions:
1. Modify `Main.java` and change the variable `desiredAddressPrefix` to whatever prefix you wish for your bitcoin address.
2. Run `Main.java`
3. Once the address is found, the program will generate a `wallet` directory:
  • keys.txt file, which includes the address and the private key in WIF and HEX format.
  • legacyAddress.png QR code for the address.
  • privateKey.png QR code for the private key.

I would appreciate it if you could:
1. Suggest any code alteration - modification.
2. Suggest a better (if any) entropy source than Java's SecureRandom.
3. Suggest benchmarking tools.

If there are any updates in the future, I will post them on this post, in the section below:

1005  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: lightning network raspberry PI newbie on: September 18, 2023, 01:03:15 PM
I have got an unused rPi and HDD and i would like to start a lightning full node.

A lightning node requires a full bitcoin node in order to run. Imagine that it actually sits on top of it. I would go with an SSD. The initial blockchain syncing process can be a pain using an HDD. Plus, the HDD will generally live less than the SSD.

Does anybody have already some experience?

Yes I have used two implementations for LN nodes. LND and CLN.

How much does you earn with a full node?

You earn sats only for routing payments through the network. Imagine you want to pay Alex who is in the US. In order for you to pay Alex, you need a route between your node and Alex's node. You can have a direct channel or an indirect channel, through my node for example. For the job of routing the payment I demand 1000 sats flat fee. Therefore, I will get paid 1000 sats. However, depending on multiple factors, your node may only process a very small amount of payments (or perhaps no payment at all). Finally, there are multiple approaches to payment routing. I mean, sometimes the shortest path is chosen, or sometimes the cheaper path is chosen. Sometimes the path is chosen randomly, assuring higher privacy but being more expensive.

Since you brought this up, I could name multiple tokens, but allow me to share my personal experience.

I bought ETH in 2018 and kept it until 2020 when I switched to Bitcoin ONLY.

I made some money with ETH (not a lot). But thinking about it now, I would never do this again. With Bitcoin I have learnt to appreciate valuable assets in life. All those trendy, heavily marketed scams must be avoided.

It is pathetic and devastating how many people lost fortunes riding on basically air-money.

Remember LUNA? I 've seen people claiming they lost their entire savings... It's so sad.
1007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Current best software for Lightning with full bitcoincore? on: September 17, 2023, 07:42:59 AM
Hi.

I am currently using Umbrel + CLN (Core Lightning) + Zeus (android) + RTL (Ride the lightning - for pc)

I 've been using LND for quite a long time. I switched to CLN in order to "just check it out" and because I wanted to give market share to CLN too. I also like Blockstream and Adam Back, so I wanted to support them. Lastly, I had an issue once with CLN and the support on telegram was helpful. Everybody above has posted about the advantages of CLN so I will not bother you with repeating them.

Zeus is a magnificent wallet. Check it out. It connect to CLN (and LND) flawlessly.

I don't really use RTL but I just mention it here because I know it's good.

Finally, as a warning, don't forget to backup your wallet properly. CLN and LND differ in the way they backup - restore your wallet. LND offers 24 words (not BIP39). CLN offers some custom alphanumeric sequences. In any case, back them up properly.

1008  Local / Ελληνικά (Greek) / Re: Αγορα crypto. Απο που? on: September 15, 2023, 09:12:17 AM

Απο που? on: September 15, 2023, 08:12:44 AM

Keep up!
1010  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: weird secquence on: September 14, 2023, 05:54:22 PM

I have a weird sequence -> is anybody smart to find the pattern for this?
a0 is first element in sequence and so on.

how to take index for searching example : 60730954188027216046258787068258904013610447813898304297373912116496774227312 should print : index 7 but without brute forcing.

If any one want payment : I can an offer $1000 for solution.

1011  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [Tutorial] BlueWallet - Bitcoin Wallet Discussion on: September 12, 2023, 12:27:01 PM
My BlueWallet fails to synchronise with the network. It shows me that the Electrum server is connected, but the last transaction it can find was 16 days ago. After that day I had four transactions with the address linked to Bluewallet. I made those transactions via another software. And Bluewallet doesn’t know anything about them. It still consider my TX-output from Aug-27 as unspent. Of course, when I try to spend it from Bluewallet, it says that the coin cannot be used, but it does not renew the balance and the transactions list even after such transaction attempt.

I’ve imported the private key to the Electrum wallet on the same device, and it shows correct amount.

Does anyone have the same issue with BlueWallet?

Hi. Are you using your own node? Or someone else's?
1012  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Multi-Sig Strategy to Keep Bitcoin is not the Ideal Solutions for Individuals on: September 01, 2023, 09:58:48 AM
He goes further to say that while MultiSig provides redundancy for spending (e.g., 2 out of 3 signatures required), it demands full redundancy for public keys, and it is therefore risky for individual users who may not have the necessary backup redundancy, because if they lose a single seed, they have lost all access to funds.

In general, multi-sig is MUCH safer than single-sig. We must not confuse privacy danger with safety danger. Of course we need full redundancy for public keys, but it is not difficult. Even if you lose a backup of all of your xpubs, your coins are totally safe. But you don't have to backup all xpubs together.

Backing up xpubs is easy like Charles-Tim said in the quote below. It is what I do personally and I feel very comfortable. I just need to check my backups occasionally (1-2 times a year).

If you want to increase the security of your wallet, you can go for multisig. Although, it is very useful for multiple users purposes. For individual, we have suggested 2-of-3 multisig wallet several times on this forum with the appropriate backups like this:

Seed 1, MPK 2
Seed 2, MPK 3
Seed 3, MPK 1

Backups in different locations. If you lose one of the backups, you can still use the other two to recover your wallet.

Hey mate, I understood everything apart from this sentence. Sorry but English is not my native language.
What I mean by that is that at this point of
the discussion am sure we've both understood  each other's point.

Absolutely! cheers!

I don't know you the thief is, but I really wish that they lose all of their belongings.

You don't need to know the thief and I think those wish/swear words of yours are unnecessary and the occurrence will repeat itself if you don't take appropriate measures to safely keep your private keys in place. I believe your funds weren't gotten access to because you're using a wallet with 12 private keys, same would have happened even if it was a 24 private keys phrase because this seems to happen due to a malware (maybe from a careless use of it online) or you exposure to a third party unknowingly to you. Swearing won't help but taken adequate measure towards your security online will do just fine.

Ok. I have noted that but I will keep swearing against anyone when they get unauthorized access to my coins. Apart from that, there are 3 pages in this thread where we go into detail in regards to the mistake I ve made. If you leave the door open at night, it is a stupidity. But this doesn't mean someone has any right to get inside and steal.
1016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Consolidating UTXOs and maintaining privacy on: August 28, 2023, 12:21:43 PM
Alternatively, you don't even need to do that and can use the same seed phrase and just increment the account number of your derivation path. So your main wallet would be at m/84'/0'/0', and your KYCed wallet would be at m/84'/0'/1'.

This is a very good point. It's BIP85, right? But does it work with multisig?
1017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Consolidating UTXOs and maintaining privacy on: August 28, 2023, 11:15:46 AM
Instead of freezing the KYCed UTXO, I will prefer to transfer only the KYCed UTXO to a newly created wallet on another device entirely and name it KYCed UTXO which will make me not to forget about it.
I would agree with Charles-Tim here. If it is vitally important to you to not mix your KYCed and non-KYCed coins, then storing them in the same wallet and relying on the wallet freezing certain UTXOs is pretty risky. What if a simple bug in the wallet means it freezes the wrong ones? What if you lose your wallet file, have to recover from your seed phrase, and lose all your UTXO labels and which ones are frozen? What if you simply misclick and unfreeze a UTXO without realizing it? And what if you accidentally sync your wallet via a third party server, therefore revealing that all your KYCed and non-KYCed are owned by the same wallet?

I also have various subsets of coins which I would not want to mingle with each other since each subset comes from a separate source, will be spent in a separate manner, has a different anonymity set, and so on, but I keep each subset in its own wallet.

I have thought about all of that. But in the end, I don't feel like being able to take care of multiple wallets and multiple backups. I prefer simplicity. The KYCed coins are consolidated into a small amount of UTXOs, all of ~same size. It will just help me remember which ones are KYCed. Additionally, I have kept a note that the first N coins are KYCed. Finally, I don't plan to buy KYC coins anymore, so I "know" that the KYC coins are only in between the first transactions of my wallet.
1018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Consolidating UTXOs and maintaining privacy on: August 28, 2023, 10:57:58 AM
Sparrow and Spectre also has coin control but I have only used it on Electrum.

Why multisig wallet? It has nothing to do with this. Instead of freezing the KYCed UTXO, I will prefer to use coin control to transfer only the  UTXO to a newly created wallet and name it KYCed UTXO which will make me not to forget about it. I will also use coin control to transfer the remaining non KYC to another wallet which I will name non KYCed.

You can use multisig to increase your security, not privacy.

Yeap! If you read my initial post, I have said that my main savings wallet is multisig. And then I said I was thinking of creating one more wallet for KYC and one for non KYC. But, I finally decided to stick to a Multisig and follow the "freeze" option to not blend my KYCed UTXOs with the non-KYC. So, MultiSig is totally irrelevant to the privacy question, but I just said it to add more details in regards to my previous posts.

edit: If I didn't mention it anywhere in the thread, then sorry for the misunderstanding.
1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Consolidating UTXOs and maintaining privacy on: August 28, 2023, 10:16:32 AM
Note that multisig increases transaction fees, which is especially important when you're dealing with dust inputs.

Yes but for the time being it only has incoming transactions (apart from the first ones which I used for testing purposes).

Many wallets can do that, I use it in Electrum and Bitcoin Core.

Sure, I just didn't know about it.
1020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Consolidating UTXOs and maintaining privacy on: August 28, 2023, 10:01:13 AM
After a lot of thought, I decided to use a feature that Sparrow offers, in order to make my life simpler.

I have only one MultiSig (2-of-3) wallet.

My initial KYCed UTXOs are now frozen (this is the feature). So I need to unfreeze them if I want to use them. All the other UTXOs will never be combined with the KYCed ones.
