1005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are so many cryptos good for the world? Or is it better to have only a few? on: February 12, 2016, 11:05:54 AM
In my opinion, a good cryptocurrency is well designed to serve one specific purpose.

In the end there will be plenty of different successful coins, each of them designed to work great for their purpose.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the best form for a paper wallet? on: February 11, 2016, 02:38:05 PM
Hi!
Paper burns, ink dries.
What do you think is the best way to store bitcoins on a paper wallet?
Engraving in metal?

engraving a metal is good but it is hard and not everybody can do it without proper equipment.

the best way that I have found to work for me is simply printing the private keys on a good piece of paper and then laminating it. you can also encrypt the keys with a password so nobody can read them by looking at the paper. make 2 copies and store in different places. and if you have an extremely large amount of bitcoin you can even store the paper wallet in a safety deposit box in a secure bank.

Sounds nice!

How can I encrypt the keys with a password?
1007  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: February 11, 2016, 01:18:57 PM
You should always invest your money in whatever has the best ROI.

This can also be achieved from switching money from one derivative into another (e.g. Euro into Bitcoin), in which case investing money has the same meaning as saving it.

It is always better to invest it, but be careful, after quite a time I spend my time and energy in investing, turn out most all of the investment is a scam, really do your research from a lot of website to make sure your investment is safe

True, choose your investment wisely.

However, there are PLENTY of investment opportunities out there with great ROI.

Want to hear some easy ones besides the usual stuff?

Lego Star Wars, Board Games, Comics.

The way for all is the same: Find the rarest ones and make up your mind about how much of a hype there will be in the future for your investment.
1008  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best platform to play poker for Bitcoin? on: February 11, 2016, 01:00:32 PM
Betcoin Poker Room has the largest network out of all Bitcoin sites.

Yes, I confirm! Betcoin has the best Poker Room. And above all, it has the best freerolls!
I had just won one!  Grin

There is more games, but Poker is my favorite! Other gambling stuff i test in Crypto-Games.net

I assume some people are referring to betcoin.ag and some to betcoin.tm?

Which one is better?
1009  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: February 11, 2016, 12:37:01 PM
I have great respect for Martin Armstrong's work.

However, when it comes to the topic of Bitcoin, he seem to be a little too pessimistic, saying the government can shut it down anytime it wants.

I wrote him an email asking how he would think the government could do this, but received no reply until today.

Anyone with more info?

MA is pessimistic of private money surviving long term, it usually appears during a crisis and withers away or ends up being taxed anyway, there's nothing new under the sun so the saying goes.

He doesn't believe bitcoin will be any different.

"The idea that Bitcoin can circumvent government currencies and taxes I just do not buy. I suspect these people are licking their chops to rush in. That is my only concern. You cannot withdraw $3,000 in cash without them freaking out. They will an underground economy exist? I seriously doubt it."

Interesting quote, have not read it before, thanks! I think governments will try to regulate Bitcoin in a way so that they prevent an underground economy to a huge extent, but I do not see how they could "shut down" Bitcoin, such as shutting down the internet.

He says very little about Bitcoin, but he sees the matter from a pragmatic viewpoint: crypto currencies - that allow hiding the money from the tax man - will be stopped by the government. Government will collude with the Bitcoin foundation or just simply direct them to do it and the protocol will be modified to implement features to enable more efficiently track of the money (but even in its current form BTC is a god given gift for the tax man as by definition everything is in the blockchain and traceable.)

This is what I also am thinking: Governments would be pro Bitcoin because everything is being recorded in the blockchain, making money flows easily traceable. I think the government will put certain regulations in place (e.g. every citizen has to have 1 Bitcoin address that is known to the government to which his income has to be transfered) and Bitcoin still survives.

1018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you think is the world’s bitcoin center? on: February 11, 2016, 02:27:00 AM
Currently, Arnhem in The Netherlands is the Bitcoin Capital in the world.

This is interesting, do you have any understanding of how adoption and use became so high? It's great to see that map with so many places that accept bitcoin and with such variety - grocery stores, cafes, shops - really impressive! Do you live in this area?

I think a bitcoin capital needs to embrace its use but also drive innovation and business that's pushing the use further down the road. For me, Silicon Valley (the original center of technology) is a location that needs to be considered as a center or hub of activity. But I'll concede that Bitcoin may still be too new to have any single location to call "home".

Would be great to know what drove adoption of Bitcoin in Arnhem! Other cities and areas could learn from it and build a viable Bitcoin ecosystem themselves
1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which will be the first country who will accept bitcoin ? on: February 11, 2016, 02:13:34 AM
Well the truth is that no country needs to accept Bitcoin for Bitcoin to succeed. All that they need to do is not ban it. Bitcoin doesn't need to become national currency, Bitcoin only needs to be a currency on the Internet.

As Andreas Antonopoulos has said, Internet finally has its currency, some 20 years later and together, Internet and Bitcoin are unstoppable. Internet is the only country that Bitcoin needs in my opinion.

nice thought, to see the internet as the country of bitcoin. makes sense that bitcoin does not need any other instance than that.
