1001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You At Any Point In Time Blame Who Taught Or Led You To Gambling? on: November 21, 2023, 01:14:09 PM
I discovered it myself and the things I learnt from gambling have given me life lessons.

I learnt that gambling is something inherent to human mind and taking risk is a common thing that people often do and that it is always a loss for the player.
Hence I decided to not gamble but use that information to become part of the casino which is the winning side.

Also learnt the math behind gambling and provably fair systems to some extent. These were something new to learn and apply for me. Hence I dont regret it.
1002  Local / India / Re: Proposal for new boards, editing in current ones and removing on: November 20, 2023, 04:57:04 PM
Having more than one regional language does make me feel like an alien too. I would prefer having English and possibly Hindi translated topics in here in one section.

But to make the section more lively, we need more users to come in, hopefully the contests will help draw attention and the uptick in the local board activity should make an impact.
1003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this a good advice? on: November 20, 2023, 04:53:52 PM
That one step closer is a myth and it is part of the gambler's delusions.

One roll to the jackpot does not mean anything. Every roll is unique and hitting the conditions of the jackpot is a one in a million chances. By betting more you are not increasing your oods but only losing more.

At the end of the session you might end up winning the jackpot but at what cost? Maybe losing twice the jackpot trying to chase it?

Hence these type of thoughts need to rationalized but addicted gamblers cannot do that.
1004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you in profit? on: November 20, 2023, 04:51:26 PM
YES

This is because I dont gamble with the money, but I invest the money on the casino bankroll. Its like a savings account or a fixed deposit that you lock up and keep away from a year or so and when you are back you find yourself with a 10-20% profit. You could argue that one can do a 1.10x or a 1.20x on a casino and get the same in a couple of rolls, but again the second one carries a large risk on losing the money as well, which in bankroll investments on the long run does not have.

It takes patience and commitment to hold for long in order to do this but I have done this on many casinos and its worth it.
1005  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the fall of Elon Musk's empire imminent? on: November 20, 2023, 04:45:59 PM
Space psychos will always do something new and woo the public with their innovations. They have huge amounts under the table that we cannot even imagine which once used can develop a new company or fund companies that do their bidding. In other words, such "empires" will never fall apart but the owners will continue moving from one to another.

Instead work on your own development and not see rich people as the idol. Because they are not, they became rich in lieu of their own hard work and you can be one too if you are putting your passion at work and not being lazy.
1006  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Milestone: First Bitcoin Mining Facility in Ethiopia on: November 20, 2023, 04:43:08 PM
Although, we've got abundant wasted untapped electricity underway in the hydro and solar plants but we what we lack is majorly the capacity to transmit and distribute such electricity and more importantly, the ability to monitor the process. What do you suggest this facility can do for such country or state?
I see you are from Nigeria. Here are the things that are the good and bad about mining in your country

Bad things :
1. Climate - the country is in a tropical rainforest zone which equals to humid weather and high temperatures. Means more cooling cost and labour exhaustion at mining facility.
2. Crime rate - Your manual labours are going to steal off your miners. Not everyone is hoping for teamwork being dreamwork, sadly.
3. Government stance - They might crack down on mining any point in the future.

Good things:
1. High Morale - Local enthusiasm about crypto is good here, giving everyone the inspiration to work and do something new.
2. Cheap labour - self-explainatory.

I live in a similar country and mining never happened properly here. I dont see much in the mining sector for my fellow Nigerian members. Maybe in future things may change.
1007  Economy / Economics / Re: When Was the Last Time you Came Across a Positive Economic News? on: November 19, 2023, 09:26:17 AM
The "good" news rarely makes it across the table. You see, news media know that bad negative news about the world sells like hot cakes, its just how the human mind works. Keep yourself balanced with the positives and you will find new vigor to live and create something new, but that does not happen.

Economics when doing well, do not make the news. It is only when they do bad. It does not mean that bitcoin will be the solution to all these problems and that media will take Bitcoin as a good omen either.

Better to avoid reading the news altogether or develop your own immunity to the news that you read, take what you need and forget the rest.
1008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigeria socialite went all in on this sport bet on: November 19, 2023, 09:20:38 AM
Knowing well the kind of person E money is, i don't think he can go to that length in faking things for us just to imprest the people by living a fake life, am not siding him because anyone can do thesame or even worse framing lies,
Most of the ones who are there on social media are faking it any way. However in this context, I will talk about a youtuber who goes with the name "Hypalinx" https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLyZl50t77Yxkr7Lywuesaw

This guy shows his losses and profits in gambling career and obviously the first one exceeds the other. His channel shows that he is an addicted gambler but he tries to keep it under control while playing at times and keeping his viewers happy. Of course he is getting paid from youtube and Twitch earnings but these are people who keep it real and minimize the faking.

So where is the difference? Hypa have only 57.6k subs on youtube while these scumbags have way more followers on twitter.
1009  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Milestone: First Bitcoin Mining Facility in Ethiopia on: November 19, 2023, 09:15:11 AM
The renewable energy sources in the midst of bitcoin acceptance in a country is a heaven for miners to start and run their operations. Such was the case with Kazakisthan too until the authorities cracked down on them.

Just be sure to follow up this user and see how much they actually mine and how they scale the operation, its not uncommon for them to suddenly ghost and shut down operations giving any investors a slap on their faces. These entrepreneurs always give me the chills, have been watching them come and go for several years now. They will often start the process and then exit in the background without any public knowing. Roll Eyes

Offtopic: Suggest the OP to adopt using nitter.net to allow everyone to read stuff on twitter.com/ x.com without logging in - just replace that with nitter.net
1010  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot - Crash with the lowest house edge on: November 19, 2023, 09:09:06 AM
You have to start with customer support from Moneypot to recovery your password.

When you are able to access your account, you have to set up a new password and this time you must write it down, make a good backup of your password like yahoo said.

Your next password must be strong and randomly created.
I am not sure you understand the situation here. Sites like Bustabit and Moneypot do not allow you to create your own passwords, they auto-generate a hexadecimal string which you now have to use as a password.

Please read this - https://moneypot.com/help/autogenerated-passwords

Therefore the above articles you posted have no use for the user here.
1011  Local / India / Re: How many of us check the Child Boards within our Local Board? on: November 18, 2023, 02:31:47 PM
As for me, I have read all the topics in the Child boards for now - "light blue" colouration at the moment, and whenever I visit the India section, I check if any of them turned "dark blue" and would visit that and read it.

As for engagement, some of them have been spam so I have reported content of such nature as well and they have been taken down and sometimes I dont think the topics deserve a reply from my side.

Participating in campaigns is a personal choice, so no comments there.

I dont use any notification bot, the activity here can be managed by a once daily visit, so thats what I prefer to do.
1012  Local / India / Re: ICC World Cup 2023 - India discussion on: November 18, 2023, 02:28:13 PM
-snip-
If you are being hated by everyone it means you are doing something right and they dont like you progressing. The lion does not respond to the heynas, the lion performs and shows everyone what they are made of.

So keep clam and enjoy the popularity they are giving us.
1013  Economy / Economics / Re: Life is cheaper with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general on: November 18, 2023, 02:24:08 PM
Keeping the coins safe is important too, otherwise the one million dollars worth bitcoin will turn zero the next time you check. Keeping devices secure and not falling for phishing scams is important here.

Although in many countries crypto is still in an outlaw state, the people there are collecting it secretly. I hope they dont fall in trouble because of this and eventually governments will be forced to become lenient about it.

My portfolio has a mix of all types of asset class as I dont like being all-in on one, but defenitely crypto is a promising asset of them all.
1014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you bet on when your league is in break? on: November 18, 2023, 02:19:45 PM
It is true that betting on a league which you dont know about, while your known league is in break, is a wrong move to take.

But an addicted gambler will be doing the first one - they will do something in order to break the boredom of doing nothing. Or they will go with the easier and more risky modes of gambling : EV- games.

Eventually they will lose more than they usually do. But self-discipline is what makes the difference here from too much of loss or a profit.
1015  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Must Read: Scams disguised as premium signal groups/channel on: November 18, 2023, 02:11:53 PM
This made me grin a little. Are the owners of this signal group really good at trading or are they just making money by fooling their members?
They are good at manipulating the members for sure, if not they are amatures at trading but able to make use of buzzwords well enough to catch their attention.

Quote
And what doesn't make sense to me is that newbie traders and even old traders are also willing to pay for these signals or groups of signals and sometimes complain if they suffer losses. Yes, as you said, most skilled people will use it for their own benefit. Doesn't analysis and trading require concentration and time discipline to get maximum results? why now switch to managing signal groups? which might break your concentration due to comments from members? Or is the group signal profit bigger than the trading profit? Or is this just a ploy to raise money so that the signal owner's portfolio will grow?
Some signal group owners pump their own coins, other just raise money from the membership fee and feed bullshit to the members. It varies but either of them is a scam that you cannot bring justice to in a court of law.

Quote
Many of the signal group and pump group scammers have been exposed for their rottenness. For the sake of profit, they are willing to drain their members' money. Unfortunately newbie traders still believe in this, it's ridiculous!
They are anonymous groups and on telegram its so easy to create such groups which allows them to continue operating under new names.
1016  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and War Crimes? on: November 18, 2023, 02:08:28 PM
Totally unrelated and for some reason it may have an effect to the market especially to the nations in concern. COVID-19 was way more global compare to the war happening now at Gaza, I don't think there will be a crash in the market because it will spread in the Middle East, not that fast I guess.
Not that fast for sure it has been happening for some time now and it has hardly had an impact, while the pandemic was leading to gross downtrends in all markets, I made very cheap stock buys during that time which have rebounded back to massive profits today. That was a time for bitcoin to crash as well, but as far as I recall, it did not get affected much. Rather negative news of exchanges and hacks impacted it more deeply.

I still dont understand the context of "War Crimes" here and why the OP included that in the thread title. Even then just like Russia-Ukraine war I dont think this one will impact much, but only time can tell.
1017  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Fake transaction accelerator that requires typing your seed phrase!!! on: November 17, 2023, 02:45:19 PM
With the mempool getting congested such "services" scam or not will propagate more and more in number. This forum is full of vigilant users who help reduce the load of such scams but its not the same with every community out there so I urge everyone to be on the lookout and keep your friends informed and those who are less tech-savvy, safe from such dirty tricks.

The reporting site got timed out on my end too. I will check back later again.

EDIT : Site reported from my end. I have put in an explanation as to how seed phrases can be a used to own the victim's wallet and hope the site gets taken down.
1018  Local / India / Re: Indian Supreme court rejects PIL to establish regulations for crypto trading on: November 17, 2023, 02:36:05 PM
I am not really angry at this because the petitioner is a scammer and those who have been using crypto as a means to stay anonymous and scam innocent people of their hard earned money need to be treated as such and not given bail but punished.

The scammer tried to twist the nature of crypto trading to their advantage in the hearing and that could have given them a favorable position on the legal side of things.

Dont take the CJI's words as just "central government's mouthpiece" - they are delivering justice here, they know how to remain impartial to both sides.
1019  Local / India / Re: [October Update] Indian Board activity on Bitcointalk on: November 17, 2023, 02:31:24 PM
I told you guys to not get discouraged by the last month statistics and look when it led us to. I got a nice Bronze medal here with Pakhi and Smith owning the Gold and Silver. Congratulations to you both!

Lets keep the board active as always and continue to contribute with new ideas and discussions. Hoping to see more members from the forum who are Indian but not active here to join in and have fun at the same time.

Just wait till @Hisenberg_Hunter sees this. Grin
1020  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Must Read: Scams disguised as premium signal groups/channel on: November 17, 2023, 02:27:44 PM
They even have free and premium memberships for the groups.

Just imagine, someone is selling you rotten eggs and to get those rotten eggs you need  pay an entry fee. Its a multi-level scam operating in unregulated waters. People just have to learn to avoid these scams and not jump into the gutter.

Only remind them of the first few lines from the OP - if they really had such cool predictions, they would not share it with the world but be rich themselves. Remember that rich people dont come among the common chatrooms, they live their lives in private.
