1001  Local / India / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $150K in the next Bull Run? on: November 13, 2023, 12:57:46 PM
I agree with your prediction that the next level for the price would be 40k and then we will see another set of profit bookings. I think we should achieve it by the end of this month or the first week of December. I read some speculation that the rebound might lead the price to go below 22k. I doubt that would happen but nothing is guaranteed with Bitcoin volatility and we as a community have seen how fast it went down from its previous ATH earlier. In the meantime did anyone check how fast ORDI is pumping? It started from $10 and yesterday it touched $24, now trading at $22. This is the coin that is causing so much congestion in the memepool. The Bitcoin transaction fee is skyrocketing because of this coin and it will remain the same in the coming times.
Both sides are possible. If the price touches 40k then all good but a dump might be incoming. If the price drops to 22k hold it out till you feel the speed of dropping is reducing and then buy at that level. At this point 36k seems to be a stable possibility and moving down from there would not be possible unless something big happens. It is only spiking upwards from that level.

ORDI crossed its starting price of 17$ back in may 2023 and is currently trading at an all time high. NFTs on bitcoin and BRC sounds like deja vu to me. I am not into them and will be only watching how things go on.
1002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling? on: November 13, 2023, 12:51:57 PM
ideally, it might sound reasonable to keep such record and review it on a weekly or monthly bases but in in real life, I doubt most people will even want to do that.
But I feel that this will go a very long way in ensuring responsible gambling as you can just go through your gambling history to check of you are being addicted to gambling or not. And yes, it will take away the fun aspect of gambling because for those that just gamble for the sake of fun, it will make them look like they are working because of the seriousness in taking audit of every game played as well as those lost or won
An addicted gambler never accepts the fact that they are addicted and they wish it to be that way. The day they accept that they are addicted and put in the self-control, they will be able to improve. Keeping track of wins and losses over time means doing this anyway and hence they rarely do this.

However professional players like in poker, sports betting, you will often find people doing this. Even in trading this is common and although it helps keep track how much it helps in making money, I have my doubts.

It takes the "fun" out of the gambling and hence not common among gamblers to do.
1003  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [WARNING] Another Electrum fake app on AppStore!!! on: November 13, 2023, 12:41:11 PM
Two things I would like to point out here.

1. The official Electrum client for Android is published by Electrum Technologies GmbH and that is the legit one.
For Apple store, I have no idea because I dont use any such device (poor guy here Cheesy). But this should be a point of awareness for common Electrum users to not search for any such apps on Apple store either, they might land up on the scam app.

2. Since Twitter/X is owned by you-know-who and we lazy people dont have accounts on it and hate to create more, please use nitter.net to replace the x.com or twitter.com and be able to view the page easily without logging in. Its a great alternative, do try it.
1004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have your own casino. on: November 13, 2023, 12:29:05 PM
Owning a casino site is not possible for everyone because it requires a lot of money which not everyone has the ability to manage. There are also many who have the financial ability but are not interested in running a gambling site.  They work for other businesses.  And because of this, not everyone can own a gambling site.  Many people develop a gambling site but fail to take full advantage of it to potential gamblers and become scams.
Of course its not for everyone, OP does not even indicate that. It is for the select few who have their dream of being the guy in the black suit owning the casinos and being a Gigachad when visiting them, everyone envious of their money and cars. Grin

Even in online gambling it is possible and the optimistic point is that the owners are the long term winners in a casino. In the short term tiding over losses takes money from your pocket, which should be readily available.

Over time these sites develop their own community which then helps keep the site afloat. Its a full time job and enthusiastic people are welcome to try it.
1005  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [Edwardard] on: November 13, 2023, 12:23:21 PM
I really don't understand what's happening on this forum this days, because why will someone take a loan of $1000  for 5 months now and fail to pay. This is actually getting out of hand, and I think a more concrete measures need to be put in place so as to avert such incidents occurring later in the future, because with this act, it's likely to start discouraging people who give out loan not to give loans anymore, which will literally affect those who genuinely have been keeping to their terms of loan by paying at time due. And I think it's high time we get a collective consensus on the best way to avoid this menace likely to harm our forum.
The consensus is to not give away money for free, in other words to not give loans without taking a collateral. However this is an ideal scenario having been a lender on another site, nobody can cough up any collateral whatsoever and the percentage of collateralized loans is close to 1%.

At the same time turning down these loans means potential losses for the lender because after all the lender is here to make money from their capital. Hence it ends up being a gamble where you a putting money on different high risks loans and allowing the users to spend that money and pay as they possibly can.

Its a risk the lender has to carry.
1006  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [Edwardard] on: November 12, 2023, 05:28:35 AM
I have supported the flag.

I guess things are not fine with @Edwardard family. I remember they managed campaigns previously and seeing the inactivity on the forum it is evident they were unable to gather the money from campaign and pay the loan back.

Praying for the remote possibility that they are able to solve these issues and come back clean to the forum.
1007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking back at the past, one of those statements gained respect over time. on: November 12, 2023, 05:17:58 AM
Let us just say I watched 100s of crypto videos on YouTube at the time, and unfortunately too many crypto influencers I followed at the time were associated with scam projects which made me stop following these guys as they proved to be in the game for financial gain only, the last guy I followed was actually a bitcointalk member Ian Bala...something because he stood as an adviser for a good project I followed and was quite influential Roll Eyes
That was Ian Balina and Suppoman who still run their youtube channels and made a good deal of profit by baiting newbies into pump and dumps and using their influence to rip off more. I think some legal troubles happened and they eventually lost their popularity by some niche membership groups still consider them as some messiah and follow their scum coins.

What I tell newbies is not to follow social media personalities however good they might sound, because they are always doing it for the money and personal gains. Buy bitcoin if you have to, but dont blindly follow some "guru" - that is exactly what bitcoin's ideology abhors.
1008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moment of truth on: November 12, 2023, 05:11:54 AM
I like this sentence fragment "I did dabble with altcoins and learned soon after that it was a mistake, it wasn't slow". Currently, many altcoins seem to have reached the bottom of their market cycle and many still like to spin in altcoins during reversals.
Mostly people who dabbled in altcoins ended up having their same hands burnt. Altcoin investment is driven by the fact that early bitcoin investors are if still holding their coins, millionaires at the current price. They think that same price rise is coming up for altcoins, but this is a wrong assumption. Bitcoin is one of a kind and its success will not be replicated by any altcoin, whatever their vision might be.

Eventually these people understood their folly and moved away from cryptocurrency and not even bitcoin was touched by them. Those who have been in this community for long know what potential bitcoin has and hence it is the only coin to buy.
1009  Local / India / Re: India trained 3,000 police officials on crypto investigations in 2022–2023 on: November 11, 2023, 05:10:27 PM
The number needs to grow in a steady pace because cryptocurrency is only a single part of the entire cybercrime scenario and knowledge and awareness about it among the law enforcement means quick actions from their side. Of course lets not put in the fact that corruption is high among officials, at least they attempt to stop call centers from scamming cancer patients in the West.

Eventually the cybercrime punishment machinery needs to become more rigorous and only that can deter the criminals involved in this section. All these things can become reality if the government becomes more lenient about crypto and does not blame it to be the root cause of this type of crime - a biased statement that politicians love to make.
1010  Economy / Reputation / Re: How easy do you think it is to invest in trust feedback in order to swindle? on: November 11, 2023, 05:04:37 PM
This is an anonymous platform and bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous, anyone can do anything here and since the legal framework is not that advanced to convict someone for a crime like this, such incidents are not uncommon.

Another example, other than the OP's one, is building trust by taking loans from reputed lenders and then one fine day scam the last lender. Yet another one is a bitcoin physical collectible owner making name for themselves and even meeting some users in real life and then scamming them (the yogg incident).

The fact remains that while dealing with someone on the internet, deal with then with your bag of paranoia. Any site/coin/person can go to the dark side and thus you have to risk your money on that, without putting faith in older trust ratings. All ratings are subjective and hence should be taken with salt.
1011  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know how to use Fundamental and Technical Analysis on: November 11, 2023, 04:57:16 PM
Dont base your trading just on FA or TA. The TA is only a 50-50 game because it is a pseudo-science and not based on concrete evidence. It can only make a prediction as to where the market might be moving to and you have to decide how to want to play it. Remember not to put your full decision making on TA. It is more applicable when it comes to day trading and less to long term trading.

Because in long term you can balance out a lot of things, you buy at low discounted prices and sell at inflated prices without looking at TA for sudden or quick changes.

TA or FA will not make you a market expert, in fact nobody can be one, but try to make money off the market to our maximum capability.
1012  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important gambling success? on: November 11, 2023, 04:47:41 PM
That 1% luck can turn your entire 99% skill into a big zero.

Even though an EV+ game needs your skills you cant put the luck factor completely out of the equation. This you can comprehend once you have been observing games for long.

Hence the term "success" in gambling has not concrete meaning, unless you make it up. For someone success might mean cashing out on a net positive balance while for some it might be winning a certain number of games.
1013  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex hacked, $50M+ stolen on: November 10, 2023, 12:41:09 PM
Another nail in the statement of: do not store your coins on exchange and/or use an exchange as a wallet. Even though Polo has lost its charm among the new members with the influx of DEXs and other exchanges taking its place, I still remember Polo being the go-to exchange when I first attended this forum. It only shows that no exchange is ever safe from hacks or shutdowns and the user's money is always at risk. Even though they are promising to reimburse funds, a lot of paperwork ups and downs will happen to recover funds.

Fingers crossed to see how this situation develops.

As usual, stop using exchanges as wallets.

1015  Local / India / Re: what do you think about pi? on: November 10, 2023, 12:06:39 PM
While pi shills might chime in and out, it is something that people should be wary of and not touch if they dont know what they are dealing with.

With Indian population being poor in general and the average Indian graduate working their ass off to a meagre 20k INR/month, things like quick earnings seem like a jackpot, but they forget they are giving away a lot of sensitive information with that and their initial investment if any might not return back.

So for a newbie reading this, just buy bitcoin at the low and not any single altcoin, forget about pi or any other shitcoin out there, they are all losses in the long term.
1016  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hong Kong regulators might allow spot ETF on: November 10, 2023, 12:01:52 PM
The more ETFs that get approved, the better for long term buyers.

After the JPEX scandal it seems getting the ETF in is the better of the evils and an attempt to show that they are supporting crypto but not allowing the shady activity to continue. A lot of ground work is required to get the buyers and the staff familiarized with these things and I guess adoption will not be a problem, there will already be bitcoin users in HK. Their interest in ETF over actual Bitcoins might vary.

Whats up with the image of models in a HK bitcoin ATM? I prefer it being empty when I enter, no prying eyes please. Roll Eyes
1017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bustabit Bankroll Profit Predictor on: November 10, 2023, 11:52:53 AM
Your calculation is right, but the profit/commission comes from users losses on Bustabit. Therefore, you won't receive the commission/profit at the same rate always. Your gains may become negative if any user makes good profits on Bustabit now. Anyway, OP has made an estimator and he has also mentioned that the calculation could be inaccurate.
Which is why I will update my findings from my own investment to assist the OP in preparing a better calculation algorithm. Once I hit the 1month mark I will re-calculate the daily, monthly and expected yearly income and then see the trend. If we keep doing this update every few months we can chart and plot the changes over time and eventually get a good data.

For now I think that by the next week my 2% dilution fee will be cleared off the book by the incoming money.
1018  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan on: November 10, 2023, 11:48:01 AM
You gave him a troll hahaha, imagine the new one reading the message that you say you sent and opening the link and YouTube appears
You are wrong sir! There is money embedded inside the music, after all it is a hit classic masterpiece which the current generation of internet users cannot appreciate, sadly.

The OP has been sent their money, from this forum's hidden vaults of coins. There is always free money available for such users from this forum which is why they keep coming back for it like bees to honey laced with drugs. Grin

I have heard that the t-roll word comes from rick-rolling, whatever that means (Rick is rolling while stoned?)
1019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My $50,000 betting goal by 2024. Share Your Thoughts With Me. on: November 10, 2023, 11:35:49 AM
First, I will make every available promotion, bonus, arbitrage opportunity, injury information, and stale lines..
Promotions on casinos are built to make the gamblers spend more. They are never done to put the casino at the disadvantage. Be wary of this before you jump into them.

Quote
Second, I will take advantage of various accessible sportsbooks, which may include legal, offshore, or local options based on jurisdictional regulations.
I dont know about where you live, but local laws will apply and you need to keep yourself safe from such policing.

Quote
Third, I will carefully build a bankroll that involves a selective approach to low-cost, high-potential profit angles to mitigate the risks associated with betting swings
How will you do this? High profit means high risk and the more the risk the more you are putting yourself at a loss for. Portfolios need to be balanced with low and high risk assets or in this case bets.

Quote
Fourth, I will evaluate the expected value (EV) of each betting angle because achieving my $50,000 goal requires realistic assessments and potentially exploring new, uncharted angles.
Good luck doing that, because I dont know how this possible.

Quote
Fifth, I will leverage my networks to maximize potential profits.
Local betting groups?

Quote
What are your thoughts on these strategies to assist me in achieving my $50,000 betting goal by 2024?
I think the best way to make money from gambling is not gambling at all and only investing in casino's bankroll. The moment you start betting you start losing.

I hope you have a proper job backup to cover the losses in case things go south.
1020  Local / India / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $150K in the next Bull Run? on: November 09, 2023, 04:50:29 PM
Like I said, I keep the next target at 40k USD. I have sell orders ready at 45k and 50k USD after which I will hold back and wait for the prices to rebound back before buying back at the lows. Possibly we might even break the all time high if this momentum continues. It seems today afternoon it touched a high of 37.7k and then dropped back to 36k. Resistance is being felt at 37k level and thus we have to see if this breaks or not.

Hoping for the best Grin
