Also Bitcoin can help authoritarian govts evade international bans. There's always a back side of the medal.

(And I hope that medicine will make significant progress in the coming years. ) That would not help at all, since such secrets are usually revealed after the persons tied to them are long gone and maybe one extra generation is also gone. So a progress in medicine will simply make the wait longer (for those who do wait for this).

I would advocate decisiveness.
Yup, the "how" part is almost cosmetic. If anything is to be done, the ones that can, should act. Tick-tack... Maybe a design "fair" would be a first step?

I choose unfunded, this way it's much cheaper and maybe more people (maybe me too?) can get one. The ones who want it funded, they really can also buy it (!), since here we discuss about something nice, not free money.
A good presentation, on the other hand, is a must. It is a collectible after all.
On the rules, I'd also remove the inactives. I mean, OK, most recognized accounts, but if one was not active for months.. he will not need it.

It doesn't matter that much. I did exactly what you said: I've awarded mostly 1 merit when I've found worthy posts. Very (very-very) few posts got from me more than 1. Tried to keep some sort of balance I always have some merits to send. Oh well, it took longer, but I've still depleted them. (Now I am back to 2 BTW, yay!) So whether you are super careful or not, they are bound to end.
I think that theymos, along with granting more merit sources, could award from time to time (based on some rules I cannot imagine) the users that have spent well their sMerits (?) with some more.
And yes, at least for the amount of time he's active, OP should be merit source.

internet Cafe Computers
Since you use their computers, it's the worse: * They can record all you type. * They can keep screenshots (or movie) of everything you've done. * They can keep copies of all the files you've been using. * Or they can have software (or malware) installed by others doing this (so you don't even have proper basis to sue them). Partly off topic, but let's say you use other's WiFi with your computer or smartphone: they can read all the data sent/received by you and may get from there a lot of info (including the passwords of certain accounts). So basically you should be a bit more paranoid if you have coins you don't want to lose.

Although I'm only a bit more than 5 years old in this forum, I'm also curious about the 10 years anniversary. I don't believe that Satoshi will ever come back to this forum. His mission is already completed, any way.
While I agree that his "mission" is "complete", Bitcoin was one of the experiences that taught me to never say never (!).

Really I'm not any joking. I'm trying to trade, but it's way too hard to make any profit. So I'm trying to find the ways to pray.
The usual saying is that god helps only the ones that try to help themselves. Without doing anything else, just praying may not help. But nobody stops you from investing a couple of bucks now and then and HODL. And then maybe the future will bring you really nice surprises.

Overall, Wall Street wants this
I think that some want it badly, but some others (powerful, old school) don't. I guess that there's a lot of ugly politics there too. Of course, the ones that can, do accumulate without telling (and did that for years). I hope that the dev team is good enough at watching their back for points 2 and 6. It's not only Wall Street that can try such (evil) tricks.

October used to be a good month for Bitcoin. Through the history, Bitcoin had in October either small growth, either the start of a bull run or FOMO bubble. I hope that this year it'll keep on with this good habit, so I'll vote for bull run.

1. A complete new harddisk I bought a new harddisk and install window 7 on it and copy all my private keys in there, i don't bother to leave this harddisk in the pc, after the copy is completed i remove the harddisk and keep it.
While the other methods are OK, I don't agree with this. Imho a new HDD is already a purchase and the price difference to some 60-70$ of a hardware wallet doesn't justify the hassle. ( You know that magnetic disks need a refresh every couple of years, right?) If one goes for cheap methods, paper is the easiest to store and hide. And if one, instead of saving there a private key, will save the seed of a wallet, most people will not even know what strange haiku he has there.

Indeed, now there are some ETFs to be used, there's Bakkt to be used, new ETFs won't really add anything new. We may need more ETFs financial devices physically back-ed with Bitcoin, like Bakkt does (I hope I didn't say anything stupid, it's something I just start to try to understand), but basically that's all. Their real (non-speculative) effect on the price now is near to nothing.
Edit: correction

I've got a bottle of palinca de pruna from Emil Florescu - Comuna Cuca - Jud Arges which I still haven't tried. I bought it for all of the medical benefits listed on their brochure - a balm for the heart - is what really sold me on it All good spirits are a balm for the heart I had to search on the internet for this product, that region doesn't really have a tradition in making palinca. Palinka is a Hungarian word after all and Arges county was not under Habsburg empire. (And there are quite some tricks to make it strong without destroying its taste, I don't know if this guy knows them or not.) The regions with real tradition and known for good palinca are Salaj county, Bihor county and Maramures county. I've drank maybe over 100x more palinca than vodka in my life and unfortunately there are too many vendors that sell crap just because 75% of the buyers don't drink it or just cannot feel the taste anyway because of the high alcohol content. Also some just sell weaker drink (tuica) as palinca. However, whenever you decide to drink it, let me know how it was. I hope it is indeed a balm for the heart. Edit:

Although the candles for the last hours really look nice, I start to miss the days of 10k. Any predictions on when will they be back (whether in the way to 100k or not yet)? And about Vodka - I've seen that in Ukrainian it's " horilka". No. Bad translation imho. In Romania, I've drank horinka: it's basically a different name for palinka and it's clearly not Vodka. Palinka (horinka) is double-distilled fruit brandy, usually 48-58% alcohol, vodka is distilled from cereals with only some 40% alcohol.

I don't agree with those claiming that bitcoin is doomed and the price will fall to dust. After so big drop in the last 2 weeks I am expecting a recovery. Maybe not (directly) to 10000, but at least 8800-9000 (as a first step). The last week may have not been to productive in China and Germany (national holidays), so maybe now, as they are back, would take advantage of the good prices and .. buy.

I don't expect this referral thing will last long as it is now, especially if it successful. It would mean that Binance will have to increase the fees to feed this, which overall could cause more people leave than come. Also the number of new traders will be incorrect because of this referral exploit (although it could be easy to get caught indeed).

I doubt it will last till next year, no one will use that, not unless he accepts all these shitty erc20 ICO tokens that spread the entire industry and most bounty hunters who have those token will only use the platform.
If it won't last an entire year then it simply will prove my decision was correct and it was just fine to stay away from it.

Do not spend your Bitcoins. Not now.
If people would go by what you're saying, Bitcoin would be no better than any dead altcoin. You really think that those huge farms would mine Bitcoin if there wouldn't be a financial benefit (in fiat)? Bitcoin is intended to be spent. It's "A peer-to-peer electronic cash system" system. And cash is not meant to hold under the mattress. It would be good (nice) if we could try to enforce the spending instead of selling for fiat to increase the Bitcoin economy. But even that's near to impossible now.

Are you going to use it and what do you think about it?
I will give it some months, possibly one entire year, and see people's/users' reactions. If it proves itself good (which now I doubt) and with enough liquidity, why not?

Have a look at this. Due to the use of erasure coding mechanism, only part of data pieces are needed to recover the original file. Therefore, in case there are some storage hosts left the network, you can still recover your file using the rest of data pieces. For the detailed explanation, you can take a look at the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VERYY-LeUo&t=287sWow, thanks. It's more complicated than I thought and I don't understand all the details, but it sounds pretty good. At least from what I understood, on a normal rate of storage entering and leaving the network, the files are pretty safe. It's not perfect, but close.. at least according to what they say. I hope that the time will certify this. For now it sounds good. Good luck!
