1021  Other / Meta / Re: Keeping it at one trust rating per person? on: August 21, 2015, 01:18:11 PM
Here theymos explains the new system to calculate the trust rating: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1066857.0

The 2 important points regarding this are:
 • Only the first feedback of every person counts.
 • For every trusted positive feedback a user gets 1 point every month, up to 10 points per rating.

So if you left a positive trust 5 months ago then you're giving 5 points to that user. If you delete your rating and add a new one then it's reset to 0 and he will have to wait 5 more months to be where it was. If you leave a new rating it won't affect the overall rating at all, however of course it will affect how it looks when opening the feedback.

Considering this what I do most of the times is limiting myself to 2 trusts per user. I never delete my first one (unless something important happens like not trusting that user anymore). If one more deal happens I leave a second rating, and if even more (considerable/important) deals happen in the future I delete that 2nd rating and create a new one mentioning all our trades except the first one. This way I don't affect the user's overall rating and limit it to 2 to avoid cluttering.
1022  Other / Meta / Re: Help! Account Hacked on: August 21, 2015, 01:08:00 PM
I was the escrow on a deal between Clint and Kapz. Now the account Kapz786 is again under Kapz's control who (as far as I know, as per his signed address) is the original owner.

I've removed the negative trust I had left. I'm glad this is solved, great response by SebastianJu!
Personally I think all 3 were responsible for this for not securing the account enough and not asking for a signed message. I hope both bigjme and Gelbstich generously tip Sebastian.
1025  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.4 btc loan repayment in 3-5 business days on: August 18, 2015, 04:38:53 PM
My money atm is tied up in a fiat investment but I am cashing out and getting my return in 3-5 business days.
I need 0.4 btc for something that has came up and I will repay 0.5 btc in 3-5 business days. To set a definite date I will make repayment 1 week from now so august 25th.

Loan amount: 0.4
Repayment amount: 0.5
Repayment date: august 25th
Send loan to address: 1BUNxSuSbWc44CypF2NJn1agEBfopwUJN1
If I do not repay by August 25th I give you the right to take ownership of my account, I have never taken part in a signature campaign but this account could easily make 0.4 back through sig campaigns or by being sold. But I do not foresee that happening.

Are you giving your account as collateral? Note in order for it to be valid collateral of course you must give it before receiving the funds, not after you default. You can give it to either the lender or a trusted escrow. If you do and are able to sign a message with an address posted several months ago I can lend 0.35 BTC.
Regardless of you accepting or refusing my terms you should confirm you're willing to give the account as collateral and you can sign a message. If so specify which address you can use to sign it.
1026  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for loan 0.7btc (with collateral) on: August 18, 2015, 03:18:20 PM
hold on, and no that's not me that's my dad's lol, i found the address in my history it wasnt posted in a post it was posted in a picture of my mintpal account

has any1 gotten anything back from mintpal it's been so long =/ i don't know what to do

They are gone, most of the stolen alt coins were moved over christmas and dumped on the markets, the BTC has gone in Ryan Kennedys pockets. Doubt any of us will ever see that money again even if Kennedy gets punished for his crimes

In that case it's little doubtful, I personally wouldn't take an account as collateral with a message signed with that address. The fact it's on an image and yours is not the only account that controls its private key (at least your dad hashmaster1 does too) don't help at all.

Anyway you haven't responded to the comments regarding you're offering insufficient collateral. You should increase the collateral, lower the loan amount or lock the thread.
1027  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for loan 0.7btc (with collateral) on: August 18, 2015, 02:38:00 PM
Loan Amount:0.7
Amount to be repaid: 0.735-0.77 5%-10% based on time frame
Repayment Date:28th august 2015
Type of Collateral Bitcointalk account
BitcoinAddress1PnU5yjR1DQ5swVAmWLmBuWJ8QdmHuNm2t yes i can sign it and i have quoted this address in the mintpal/moolah fiasco last year if a link is needed i can provide one i just need to dig through my history..

Unfortunately your account is not worth 0.7 BTC and since you don't have previous feedback you're only rely on the collateral. Is something else you can offer? Or will you consider a much lower loan?

Also that address was posted by hashmaster1 here in March this year (archive). Is that you? (Are you offering that account as collateral or the one you're posting with?)
Where did you post that address last year? I can't find it.
1028  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: need loan longterm 40BTC + collateral on: August 15, 2015, 01:47:08 PM
@ecuomobi.see the project the 1 installament is 4btc not 40btc.the project is 3 step t go. 1 step wll take 5 day.2 installament lender will evaluate the value of the site and proced t 15 btc.so lender risk 4btc for my site at 1 stp.eveny domain name has that value.u can change the trust u give me.regard

The website seems to be worth much less than 4 BTC because of the points I posted before. The domain is probably worth less than reg. fee and certainly less than $100. Doctrove is not a main keyword.
So unless the site has considerable traffic and sales it's an invalid collateral. If it does have traffic do share them.
1029  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: need loan longterm 40BTC + collateral on: August 14, 2015, 09:21:21 PM
hello, lenders  i need loan of 40 in 3 installament. collateral ecommerce website(www.doctrove.com).term:3 years.interst:2%monthly. all loan will be invested in my site.the current value is 30+btc. 1 installament. (4btc to upgrade my site for 2 yrs and rebranding)in 5day now value of site will be 50btc.lender will open 2 installament of(15 btc for marketing+trafic+shipping~ value of site t this stage is 80+btc ~ 3 installement(21btc to manage cash flow+shping+ather) i do this to make lender more confortable.escrow will be used for any agreement.an offer we can negociet.if u see that i do not meet agreement as i say u can stop fund and i pay what  i borrow.and can not afford to lose my business and estimeted net revenue is 50~60k/M.u can suggest me how u want it .regards

How did you get that current value of BTC30+?
 • The site was built with FreeWebstore Website Builder
 • The domain was registered on March this year
 • It has a low traffic, not even recorded on Alexa
 • No SSL on the site
 • Checkout managed by another site and apparently not working at the moment

So either post strong proof that your site is worth considerably more than the amount to be lent at every moment or offer a really valid collateral (or lock this thread immediately).
1030  Other / Meta / Re: Member: idol << ACCOUNT HACKED on: August 14, 2015, 05:25:35 PM
Hello,

I was talking to idol just minute ago (on a Slack), and he told me that his account was hacked/stolen.

He has a little problem with finding a way to prove that he is the real owner as he hasn't post any BTC address.
Once he PMed an alt addy to some coin dev and that's it.

But anyway, I told him to contact Theymos about this case as only he can help.

I just want to warn all of you to not deal with "idol" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=250775   at the moment.

The person which is using idol account might be a hacker or a thief so be careful as you might be blinded by his trust feedbacks.

Best regards.

If he hasn't published any BTC address at all (it seems he hasn't from my quick check) then he should at least sign a message with an altcoin address. I don't know if theymos will accept that to recover the account but at least a trusted member can verify it and get their current negative trust confirmed or removed. For example he posted an address here.

1032  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Questions on Encrypt/Decrypt Message on: August 11, 2015, 04:16:31 PM
WORKING!!  Grin

Thanks, I've been using the address and not the public key. If I want to send a message to somebody else, how do I get the public key for their address?

There are ways to grab the public key from the blockchain as long as that address has spent coins at least once (the public key must be given to verify the signature of the TX).
However in practice you must just ask for it, it's public anyway. Ask for a public key and encrypt the message using that information.
1033  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Questions on Encrypt/Decrypt Message on: August 11, 2015, 03:55:32 PM
Tried searching the forum for more information on this function in Electrum but could not come up with much. Saw one post about this function being disabled in version 1.9.8 due to a bug.

I'm currently running version 2.3.2, is the encrypt/decrypt functional in this version?

Tried it but keep on getting an error/warning "Non-hexadecimal digit found"

I just tested it now and it's working. Are you sure you're entering the public key and not the address when encrypting? The whole public key is always required. You can get it by left-clicking an address and selecting 'Public Keys'. Then use that value to encrypt.

1034  Other / Meta / Re: Someone gave me a negative trust! WTF! on: August 11, 2015, 03:00:52 PM
If it's such a big deal then I'd be more willing to delete my thread in lending section. I just hope this doen't affect my other account. And for the record, Jacee is mine and I have a signed message in my account in there, and oh, I created this account to ask for help to get my account back. Some urgent things came up and I needed the loan. A trusted member in here once told me it's ok to ask for help in a loan if it's in a le ding site where I ca  provide my real Identity and so I thought it will apply as at the moment. Well I'll just remove it if it will make such fuss. Mod's still has no response in my problem so I'm trying to grow this account if I can't get my account back soon enough so I can benifit in this accout in a sig campaign so the negative trust won't really help.

That trusted member can't  speak for everyone. I and several other members consider that if you post here then you must follow the rules of this forum, even if you post a link to an external lending site.
If you close your loan request and lock your thread immediately then I'll remove my feedback.

As said next time try to solve things amicably through PMs before creating threads in Meta. And I hope you get your account back if it's really yours.

Update: The loan thread was locked and I've removed my feedback.
1035  Other / Meta / Re: Someone gave me a negative trust! WTF! on: August 11, 2015, 02:41:26 PM
Of course I red your post before leaving the negative trust, but:
1) You offered no proof regarding you really being jacee, you asked for a no-collateral loan from a newbie account.
2) Even if you really are jacee you do not have trust/feedback at all.

As stated here you'll most probably get negative trust if you ask for a loan without collateral without a massive amount of trust:
If you completely ignore this sticky and make a loan request with no collateral, without having massive trust on the forum, the chances of you getting negative trusted feedback and therefore having a Trade with Extreme Caution tag is almost 100%.

Finally the fact you ask for a loan on bitlendingclub or any other external site and post the link here doesn't mean you no longer have to fulfill bitcointalk's rules. You are asking for a loan here. This was discussed before here among other threads:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1009469.0

op, i just like you when i was a newbie, and then, i am almost screwed.
giving this kind of negative trust makes no sense to figure out if he is a scammer, unless he/she is exposed to be an scamming alt, otherwise this kind of act is just harming newbies.
lending is not a place of pawnbroking, but under the "rule", it is just a pawnbroker to protect lenders, not loaners.
 Cry

Without this rule the lending board would be even more full of scammers. Only very few newbies are really scammers, but unfortunately older members create new accounts just with the purpose of scamming. If they don't get negative trust then real newbies would grant more loans and would be scammed. I agree it sucks that there's no way to distinguish real scammers from honest people who need help. When I leave a negative feedback (for this reason of any other) I keep checking the account and remove it or change it to neutral if required after a few weeks or months.

1036  Economy / Services / Re: trusted escrow required for approx $400 trade on: August 06, 2015, 08:08:15 PM
Just a PSA...

Cash BTC is about as bright as a -40 watt light bulb..  Arguing with him won't get you anywhere except aggravated and drinking to dull the headache.

Either that or he has some hidden motivations to recommend bit2factor. I see he keeps recommending it on every post and thread he makes. It's really suspicious he does that and keeps ignoring the facts and going around the same failing argument he's already said.
That just gives me more reasons to insist nobody should use it or any other automated 2-of-2 escrow.
1037  Economy / Services / Re: trusted escrow required for approx $400 trade on: August 06, 2015, 04:33:05 PM
If that can be done that's an improvement.
An improvement in what sense? It's extremely risky! Using a trusted person as escrow without any kind of multisig would be absolutely much safer.

I refer to 2-2 as automatic escrows.
I refer to 2-3 as escrows with man in the middle.
What's the difference in your view?
Yes probably you're right. Although 2-of-3 would be automatic too if no problem arises and the escrow doesn't have to act.
But that's just a naming convention, not really important here.

the only risk is if the other party wants to hurt you as I already explained.
Or if they want to scam you, as in the example I gave. If a scammer do this 10 times to random people I'm sure he'll get that 50% more than 5 times. It's extremely risky and shouldn't be used.

[...] Is there an easy and trusted way to do this?
Do you have some exaples of 2-3 multisig escrows as you define them?
Do you realize that's what I asked? I only know how to do it manually with the addmultisigaddress command. I'd like to see a trusted service that makes 2-of-3 multisig escrow easy.

hello i want to sell 229 windows rdp
i didnt check list
price : $8

You didn't check the list? Do you mean you're selling a hacked/stolen list of credentials and you don't know whether the logins work, who will be affected of how long they will work?
Let me know if I misunderstood you. Where exactly did you get the list from?

Never mind, I just saw you confirm it's cracked:

Price of these VPS : $10 BTC

i check only two vps
most of these have at least 2 core cpu and 4 gb ram

1039  Economy / Services / Re: trusted escrow required for approx $400 trade on: August 06, 2015, 04:14:04 PM
He/she lose nothing neither he gains: he/she wants only to hurt you.
They can earn something. As Quickseller said they can blackmail you to unlock the funds. For example:
 • You send the BTC to the multisig address
 • They never send the fiat
 • You create a TX to get the BTC back but of course they refuse to sign it
 • They create a TX where 50% goes to you and 50% goes to them and sign it
 • They tell you that you can either sign it and lose 50% or not sign it and lose 100%. Now it's your choice to lose everything just not to give free money to the scammer. I'm sure a big percentage of people will give up that 50% to get something back. Therefore the scammer will be motivated to do it again.

You can find those people easily.
Then why do you recommend it?

I would absolutely not recommend using a 2-of-2 multisig automated escrow. Is there a trusted automated 2-of-3 escrow? It would have several advantages if it's trusted and open-source:
 • The escrow wouldn't be able to steal the money on their own. Still it could do it along with one of the dealers but the risk is reduced
 • Most of the times the escrow wouldn't do anything at all (when both of the dealers are honest)
 • If a problem arises the escrow can solve it. There can't be a blackmail scenario as the one I described above

I know this can be done manually with commands but it's somewhat difficult to do it normally. Is there an easy and trusted way to do this?
1040  Economy / Lending / Re: Offering loans with collateral on: August 04, 2015, 05:46:17 PM
Loans for collateral prefer domains or mining contracts can lend up to 30 bitcoins!

Of course any collateral should be held by a trusted escrow, not OP.
