1021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A brief advice for the newbie gamblers. on: January 19, 2024, 03:23:14 PM
I will keep on saying the same old thing, newbies that are new to gambling should only use the amount that they can afford to lose for gambling, and don't use the money that you have budgeted for some important to gamble. Don't take loan to gamble because it will only increase your addiction.

Addiction is bad and can ruin you before you realize it, this is why you shouldn't see gambling as a means to make profit or a means to pass time, so that you don't become addicted to it. However, you can gamble once or twice in a week and set a gamble budget for your gambling activities. Don't get carried away with other people's wins, because gambling is based on luck.
Setting gambling limit is the easiest way out to staying out of addiction or better still it's a better way of preventing yourself from getting to the point of addiction gambling, when you have a budget with which you are gambling with and you are disciplined enough to sticking to it then it would be easier for you.

But when you gambling at will just without any budget or any form of discipline it is possible you can gradually get to the point of gambling addiction especially when you are using money you can't comfortable lose then you may get addicted chasing losses and you may end up loosing even more , using what you can comfortably loose will enable you not to get too emotional such that you would want to revenge on the casino and win and recover your funds but then you may most likely not win enough to recover your losses except you are lucky
"LIMITATION"

This is something that you should really be needing to set since from the start on which you should really that make because having limits wouldnt really be leading into possible addiction.
This is something that you should really be following on where on the time that you are losing that much then calling it a day or having a break wont really be that a bad idea,
there are really just or simply majority of people would really be that thinking about having those winnings on which not all people would really be able to control themselves
which they do fail up miserable in speaking about self control. Some could but mostly couldnt and this what makes them ending up on having that messy financial statuses.

Gambling with no limits will only gift the casino the control of deciding when the gambler will stop gambling, which is once the bank roll blinks zero. Gamblers who have troubles with limiting their gambling session, may not avoid stopping even when their funds have been exhausted. They'll want to replenish and play some more until their bank account runs dry. That's a bad attitude for a gambler not to have some limits to his actions while gambling. Playing with some limits helps the gambler to save up money and stay away from chasing losses. Which can lead the gambler to get addicted on the long run. Hence, it's important that every gambler try to develop some self-control for gambling purposes. The ability to control the need to gamble excessively helps gamblers to be responsible and not think of gambling as a place to double their income. Or the fastest means of making money.

Discovering the right moment to call it a day may be hard for some gamblers. So, trying to help them out could be a nice idea for us as gamblers and save the community from lots of irresponsible gamblers. Who with their numerous financial problems, tarnish the image of gamblers in the society, when facing problem gambling. Lack of limitation also contributes to bad gambling habit. In the sense that the gambler, participates in gambling whenever he wishes. When the control is missing out the gambler misses on the fun activities one could get in gambling. Instead, they'll be in trouble and struggle emotionally. Which is not in the slightest the main aim of gambling. Before a person tries to venture into gambling, he may have tested himself to be capable of being emotionally and psychologically stable.
1022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: January 19, 2024, 02:39:15 PM
That for every movement in the world you need to have money , there is no other option if we do not have money things will go wrong for us and that will cause us to lose many things, on the personal level we ourselves are people who will always have Something to do well in things. casinos, for everything that a casino means, if we are tempted to play in a casino with money that we can lose, then there are no problems , it is what is recommended  , but even more so if we start to see things when we are in a casino We study how to be able to make money quickly without so much trouble, and that is where the problem lies, because we need to have more, and when we bet more and more we cannot control that, for that reason we must Control ourselves so that These things that are so unpleasant don't happen, I don't know, but I hate losing money in such a stupid way, because it's something that's not within my Budget and it's something that I always have to see that it shouldn't be done.

I have always said that we casinos , when we enter , must be careful with our money, the premise must always be to take care of it and try to save it and multiply it, because otherwise things will not turn out well if we do them for the sake of doing them, we will always look for the best I want to have control and what better way than what I say, if you have money willing to lose you can allocate it only to the game and nothing happens, but if there is no money to lose , we cannot play , playing will always mean losing money, so Otherwise things will be very difficult for them to improve, in this sense we are people who must be responsible with our own things, something as important as money should not be Wasted or treated Badly , much less Badly spent on something that will not bring us benefits, if the casino is for fun, but the control that we must have over the money is Unique and we must not Generate any other type of Feeling.

Money is vital and should be spent carefully, as the lack of money isn't good for anyone or project. The gambling journey also needs money to sustain it and provide fun or wins for the gamblers. If a player decides to neglect the need to manage his money, he is not only doing himself wrong, but a bad stewardship to the society. Existentialism is about choices. And whatever it is, gets to affect the society. The money we own also belongs to the society, we didn't create it, instead through some means, a body gave it to us. Hence, maltreating the money will only affect our economy and that of the society. Especially when the gambler runs out of money, he'd be bothered on other financial responsibilities which he needs to look into and resolve.

However, this it not only applicable to gambling, other aspects of life, where money is needed, shouldn't be abused with lots of unaccounted money. The problem with such gamblers is the inability to confide with somebody or listen to the advice of other persons. Although, it's not the gambler's fault, depending on their experiences, the player may have not been oriented enough to understand that gambling requires management skills and self-control to bypass the urge to stake almost all our bank rolls. Losing those trainings, may end up putting the player in a situation where he'd never learn a thing on gambling. Since the process could get to a stage where the newbie or gambler wouldn't stay in control anymore. In a situation where the gambler drinks before gambling, for instance, if not cautioned earlier, it'll be hard to correct when he's now indebted to the habit that he won't reverse his habit anymore.

1023  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: January 19, 2024, 02:20:07 PM
Gambling I think will be better for us as much as it can be hidden from people. Because gambling is not seen well by the people of society so we will try to hide gambling as much as possible. Smart people never want everyone to know about their gambling. He will try to gamble secretly from everyone. During gambling we face various problems due to some small mistakes like family members relatives all know that we are addicted to gambling.
Yes, sometimes hiding about our gambling activities makes us more comfortable because we know the community always associates gambling with bad things, even when something bad happens to someone and he is known to be a gambler, the community thinks it is the impact of gambling, even though behind it there are many people who It is indeed bad because of gambling, but there are quite a few people who can continue to gamble responsibly and gambling does not make their lives worse.
I do not intend to tell about my gambling activities to the people closest to me and because so far it is still within reasonable limits so I don't feel the need to tell them, and in fact there are advantages if we tell about our gambling when we become addicted so that the people closest to us can realize it and help us by taking to treatment to recover from addiction.

For the sake of hiding our intentions from the people around us, gambling secretly can be a nice option, but what if our family member is about to get into gambling and asks for our contribution. Would we keep calm and tell them we have little or no contribution to add to their new decision. That's where the hidden truth needs to be unveiled so that nobody close to us will get into problem gambling. As it'll affect us and the newbie gambler as well. Hence, while we gamble secretly for some reasons, best known to us, opening up when requested is great. Considering the thoughts of the society about gambling could be another reason for most people. But personally, I don't care on their take.

What is needed of me to do for the society is respect myself and keep true to the habit which I attained through gambling. Instead of wasting money or gambling irresponsibly, doing the right thing by obeying good strategy is the only respect I've got for my society. Hiding it is great, but makes no difference, when the person doesn't regard the society. In terms of being responsible and doing what's right. Most often, the people who waste money in gambling and get addicted are the ones that hide their gambling habit from people. It's a good thing to know our self, and what is beneficial to us, once that has been achieved, whatever the people want to say wouldn't amount to be a threat or fear of behaving in a low form of hiding something good. Gambling is not bad. Gamblers are like people who practice civil disobedience. Doing something that is good, but the society thinks it's bad or wrong.

1024  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 19, 2024, 01:10:06 PM
But don’t be fooled because everyday, you equally have the chance to lose your money too. Gambling everyday is just too much as it will only result in strong addiction. It isn’t and shouldn’t be a job. I think it is best to get a job, like maybe learn a skill. You can still gamble but then you have a proper job and you aren’t entirely relying on probability to win money or make a living. It is easier when you aren’t addicted, once you are, it feels like it runs in your blood. Even when you consciously try to run away from it, it finds a way to call you back.
You are very right mate, gambling everyday shows that you are now too much into the game, and you cannot do without it.Those who gamble everyday are mostly people who dont have a reasonable job to do that fetches them money, therefore, they rely on gambling to sustain or to earn a living. It is however not adviceable to be an everyday gambler, those who gamble everyday have a great chance of getting loss on a steady basis,so the best thing to do is to gamble when you have so many sure options to gamble on.
Yes, those who gamble every day of course they don't have a job that can make them avoid gambling activities and they only do part-time jobs and use the free time they have to gamble and if they win they will certainly be able to use it well because they know If they don't use the winnings well then they won't have the money for the needs they need. Of course, it would be a very good thing if we knew when is the right time to gamble, because if we continue to gamble every day of course we will not be able to control this habit and will have financial problems.

A high number of gamblers spend time each day to get fun or money through gambling. It all depends on the choice of the player. That doesn't mean they're jobless. Humans have leisure time, when they can rest. Gambling is a way of resting for some gamblers. Though people would think the gambler is jobless or don't have other things doing with their time, but it's all a personal response, which doesn't amount to any meaning, since no research has been implemented to make the accusation right. Few months ago, before the holidays, for some reason I visited the gambling house to meet new faces of gamblers. At some point a friend told me that If I keep coming every day, people will think I'm jobless and have nothing to do with my time. Those who make such comments have different reason for saying it, same as the gambler, who gamble each day.

It's true, lots of bad players waste time and money every day gambling. Hoping to gain more wins or hit the jackpot. While responsible gamblers get fun, through gamblers, the irresponsible players get carried away and lose out on their games. As the Op's friend may have said, they are gamblers who win more for gambling every day. But that doesn't mean the technique applies to every other gambler in the niche. Moderating the time and money spent is the best decision as gamblers. Notwithstanding how many times the person gambles, he wouldn't face many troubles, even losses, when in control of his choices and decisions. One thing is for sure certain, the win and losses would be coming up more than often expected by any gambler. That's why we all are advised to have minimal gambling durations. At least to save up money.

1025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: January 18, 2024, 10:49:09 PM
Many gamblers have hard such expensive experience, from following such gambling partten for God sake, I don't see any need to continue gambling when I have already reached my set limits and achieve the main aim, such as winning at the stand because that is when I need to apply the most needed caution cause at that moment you are already over stepping the boundaries and will eventually end on the negative side of things.

But those who are already addicted to gambling can not follow such partten as their tend to get overly carried away by they addictions that make them to over step their boundaries without they knowledge since the controlled by their addictions.
When you reach that limit, that's when you're gonna know that what you're saying is going to be difficult because a person that's continuously losing is going to be mad about their losses and they don't think straight so they do what they think is the solution to their lose streak which would be to play again and repeat the mistake. This thread wouldn't be this long if the pattern isn't happening to every gambler out there, the problem with this repetition of pattern is something should've been resolved during the childhood or formative years of that gambler, it's a habit that's subconsciously developed from different activities combined with different experience so it's difficult to do any kind of rehabilitation when fully formed but once taken care of, addiction or problems arising from that habit is going to not be an issue anymore.

The more a person is involved in gambling and struggle with addiction, his decision wouldn't be accurate. That's why they keep up losing money. So, getting to the level where the gambler is not stable or battle with great decisions, is not nice. Our human brain adapts to whatever activity we invest our time into. That means the player have to be smart, not to fail too much regardless of the gravity dragging him to gamble more. For a player who doesn't mind his behavior and thinks it's getting out of hand can consult his friends, and family. The help will then follow from the family's end. As some addicts would blame his family if they never helped him. So, if he gets troublesome and begin to lend money the family will pay for those debts. If a person begins to realize that his family plays a vital role in changing their mindset, he'd begin to ask himself some useful questions about the need to change. At least to save his family the stress of having to pay so much. The addicts sometimes remember what's happening before it skips their mind again. That means when in their right control or senses, those imaginations begin to erupt in the brain of the person. Where he gets worried of what is going on and why everyone is focused on him as the primary problem. Some are in prison for their crimes, but a gambling addict is suffering from mental imprisonment. Starving the player from getting financial help from others, would help him control the urge of taking loans from people. Thereby relieving his family, the suffering of having to clear debts when the player is healed from his problems.
1026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 18, 2024, 10:31:30 PM
This now triggered me to come ask here whether you cares about what people says or sees you as when gambling, I know there are people who don't know you from time or who doesn't believe that you are a gambler and if it happens that you came across such people and their reaction towards you goes other way round would you care about it or you just totally ignore them?

Let's discuss amicably
No, I wouldn't care, I just ignore them. there is no point caring for someone's opinion about you if they don't really know you. besides, people who love judging other people are usually hypocrites and are just projecting their insecurities towards others to make themselves feel good about themselves. I've had my fair share of people like the one you mention and one of the things I've learned about those kinds of people is that ignoring their opinion and not getting a reaction out of you Irritates them, which is funny(at least for me).

Good you've noticed how uncomfortable such people get if they gambler doesn't feel worried or bother about what they say regarding his habit. Most times such people also engage in other activities worse than gambling but point fingers on the gambler over his attitude. As adults, no need minding what people say or think about our actions. How we treat this type of people differs, depending on who they're to us. If it's a stranger, and he has some listening ears, about what I'd have to tell him, then discussing with the person would be my best take. Although, if they claim to know better, ignoring the person works best. In the case of a family member, removing their doubt is the best move. At least to reduce his thoughts that I'd get addicted and cause more harm to the family. Everyone is groomed uniquely and the way we solve our troubles wouldn't be similar. People must talk, our lapses would be having their wrong thoughts in mind.

Sometimes when a person I don't know begin to say all sort of things regarding my habit and how it could lead me to run out of money. I'd give them a response, like, do you think saving money is the best financial move? The person gets interested in the conversation, when I begin sharing few knowledge of mine why they shouldn't rely on savings alone. And for means to better their lives. Not saying that any gambler or the society is not capable of voicing his thoughts out to the hearing of a loved one, who is having a problem with gambling. The truth is, we need to respect one another in the society. Handling issues gradually, is the best means of reaching our to a healing points. Those who can't keep their mouth short, would be left behind to think of why they didn't get a response. After multiple years, of gambling, recently people stop complaining because whatever they thought would happen didn't occur.
1027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you pay attention on other people bet and it amount, and does it affect you? on: January 18, 2024, 10:11:11 PM
For me of course it affects my betting mentality. I would definitely feel inferior if someone next to me bet bigger than me.
Sometimes it makes me hesitate to bet, in the end I just watch first until I can really decide to bet. But of course I won't go crazy all in to equalize my betting amount.
I will continue to use my funds according to what I planned at the beginning before playing.

I think it's normal for you to be influenced by what you see other people doing, no matter what the situation is you are gambling with other people or your friends with the same position and close together, I'm sure that at least there will be your feelings to follow the amount of large bets he did this is a natural feeling that humans have, and the rest is depending on how he can control himself, whether he will decide to follow him in the sense of being influenced or stay firm on the planning and approach he has in gambling.

I think the better way is that there is no other way than you prefer to stay firm on your own decisions and confidence, do not follow the large amount of bets made by others, after all they do not guarantee you to win if you follow the way they do, in the sense that in gambling whatever happens at the end of the session then it is entirely the responsibility of each gambler who experiences it, and with that means you better gamble with decisions on your own abilities in the sense of not overdoing it and not going out of your limits.

Other player's money or strategy may tend to make a gambler try gambling out of his will, that is, betting more money, just to win like the next gambler. It's not bad, however, yet the player holds himself for the outcome of his game. The person we spied their game, may have wagered his spare cash. He won't be bothered over his results; win or loss. While the next person would end up being worried over losing a bigger amount, which he didn't plan on spending. Gambling shouldn't be considered a competition. Everyone should mind his bank roll and care less over the winnings of other people, which is not ours. Truthfully, those wins are so tempting, looking at the amount of money a fellow gambler has won. A player with less self-control would lose his principles and rush his games. That only doesn't help the person, but it could be detrimental to his future gambling experience.

Meaning, he wouldn't enjoy gambling. Because the player now relies on the result of other people as a motivator for gambling. His own goals have been forgotten by him. The previous plans don't get practiced and the gambler wouldn't perform great in a strategy he is not used to playing. So, it's a bad habit as a gambler to let go of our plans for other player's, due to the money they've won using their strategy or plan. Within a short period, we'd win using the same strategy we thought wasn't smart enough. Gambling has not powerful strategy for winning. Whatever is our strategy only need us to understand it better and control the way we gamble to extend our gambling duration. The longer we gamble, the more experienced we'd become.
1028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mental rehabilitation clinic. on: January 18, 2024, 09:48:40 PM
I don’t consider myself an addicted person, but a few videos were enough for me to understand how difficult this path is. I don’t watch them now, but they made an impression on me and I remembered them for a very long time, if not forever. These are stories that balance on the edge of black and white. These videos help you where you can end up. I’m not saying that these videos, with interviews in which addicts tell how they hit rock bottom, will necessarily help, of course, for some it will simply not be interesting or even irritating. This will make some players think twice before clicking the "deposit" button.

Yes, but some players who are in a severe stage can pretend that they are undergoing therapy and do everything they are told. Even if it goes away over a long period of time. And he knows that as soon as he is released, he will take up the game without hesitation. There are players for whom nothing will fix or help, but if we don’t try any treatment methods, then we won’t even have a chance for healing.

The path is quite very hard and without those videos a non-addict wouldn't understand the hard steps needed to be cured from addiction. It's not a simple task. I grasp your idea. Instead of getting addicted or waiting till the person get addicted before he's attended to or taken to the clinic. It's a good thing for non-gamblers to watch such videos and learn from the mistakes of others. Although not everyone would abide by the instruction. They'll take it for granted and think that addiction isn't for them, as they've been responsible gamblers. However, before a person goes for therapy as an addict, the zeal to change must be in the back of the person's mind. People shouldn't be forced to visit the therapist; else they'll behave like what you said in your last paragraph.

A person who not ready to change, even though he goes to a rehab center for more than a year duration, the person will come out and gamble more than he used to, before he visited the rehab center. Restrictions pauses an attitude but doesn't change it entirely. Provided the addict still thinks about gambling, the whole treatment would be a wasted effort. In a clinic like that, I'd talk to the person to realize his troubles and figure whether to continue therapy or not. If he sounds unserious or not interested in the discussion. Persuading him would be a waste of time. He may end up not visiting the clinic again, or decide to leave the environment if his family doesn't let him rest with their numerous complaints. Convincing him to change would be the hardest part of healing such an addict. But, it's achievable. Begining the process, is better than not trying.
1029  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 18, 2024, 09:26:58 PM

Actually, I don't need to analyze sports betting. Because the gambling sites did the analysis for me. I bet only by feeling and luck. Because the more I analyze, the more confused I become. I know that with careful analysis, the winning rate will increase, but for me, luck is the vital thing in this betting.
If someone is good at analysis, I will bet on that person. For me, time is limited, so I can only do this.

Yes maybe you are one of those people who really don't care what analysis is and just rely on luck, no problem and maybe some other gamblers also do the same thing even though they are involved in sports betting that basically you can do analysis based on the skills and knowledge you have to increase the percentage of winning chances to be closer. I don't think it's too confusing if you're knowledgeable and I would say that it's normal to feel confused if you're not knowledgeable about sports.

But yes I understand that in any type of gambling luck is still very important and cannot be replaced, even if you have very good skills but it absolutely cannot guarantee you to end up winning and that means luck is still needed. And this is why risk management is really important as a precautionary measure.
Yes, I admit that sometimes I have used knowledge for analysis to increase my winning rate. But I feel stupid for analyzing it. The result is just losing bets. I gave up analysis after those losses and bet according to a lucky strategy. Maybe I'm a lucky person. I'm currently fortunate in betting. I don't know how long I'll be lucky.
About risk management. I withdrew my winnings to avoid the risk of placing large bets myself. I consider losing matches to be an unlucky day. I will not try to continue playing to get back the lost money. My solution is to stop playing on those unlucky days. Let yourself listen to a song or watch an action movie.

Those analysis makes no changes; the game does determine who wins or not. looking at what happens in premier league, for instance, any team can win a match. Arteta was banned for saying what sounds like the truth, on why some teams win unexpected. That the system may have been corrupt. The analysis could be useful for gamblers who don't want to stake money without putting extra effort to make a strenuous process out of the prediction. So that they'll feel like they worked for it. Sometimes, in a match, Arsenal would look like the team to win, but before the game ends, they'll be losing out 2:0. Those games yield lots of wealth for the casino. As gamblers mainly go for big teams to win. They forget that football knows no big or small team. However, the big team do win. But it's not a permanent occurrence.

So, you're still on the right track if you don't invest time doing research and analysis yet win your games. It's an example that the analysis is overhyped. The results are not consistent. Most big analysts still make mistakes and people who follow their prediction still lose out big time in gambling. Analysis only helps the gambler to know the history of a team and how they've been performing with their opponent in the past. When Arsenal played with Luton town, a friend analyzed that since Arsenal has never won a game in the Luton town's stadium that they'll either lose or draw the game. I think it nearly happened, before the dying minute goal occurred. Although it looked like the game would end up being a draw. Hence, analysis works, but it's not the only means of winning in sport games. A gambler who can't analyze can also win.
1030  Other / Off-topic / Re: Know when to stop on: January 18, 2024, 06:49:33 PM
Lately it's been whenever my Dplay balance says 0, and I'm so proud of that fact. But yeah, knowing when to stop is so important when it comes to gambling, it can virtually be life saving, and above all, allow you to retain that sense of self control, and fun while playing.
You have a lot of refining to do about your gambling style if you really want to stay long in the gambling business. Gambling require planning of which bankroll management is an important aspect of it. You cannot risk your entire asset for every gambling session, you will be worn out sooner than later.

Luck play an important role in gambling and some days may not just be your day in terms of luck. When you realize this, the best is to stop and do other things to return next time and try again. If your style is gambling until your funds are exhausted, the day you will fund your account with money you cannot afford to lose, it will be a terrible experience.

He said he's proud of the fact he gambles all his bankroll till it gets to zero. That's not a bad idea, the main thing is that he's fine doing it. Gamblers have choices. The most important of those choices is the decision to be happy. That doesn't mean a gambler shouldn't be cautioned over the type of decision that makes them happy. As it could get them into problem gambling. But we all have to feel the freedom to do whatever seems right. What he said, regarding his bankroll, requires more explanations. Depending on the type of gambler he is, low or high roller. And the duration it takes before the money gets exhausted. In a situation of no self-control, the gambler is expected to stop gambling once he's run out of money. Because they would be no other means of him gambling. Unless he replenishes his bank roll.

Gamblers who practice this form of money management could be doing the right thing, if they're not abusing it or spending more than they are able to lose, as you said, adultcrypto. It'll be a bad strategy to wager all our money at once, in the name of ending our session when we've exhausted our funds. But if the process took the gambler few more days before he finished the money in the bank roll that would be a nice strategy. On the contrary, knowing when to stop, is not about ending our bankroll or not. The aim is being in control of our choices. Determination is the right method of achieving whatever we want in gambling. That determination also has to do with limitations. Being determined to stop gambling at a specific time and gamble again next time, nothing will ever be a barrier to the gambler.

How can one control the uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on once life.

It's getting worse every day. I'm extremely depressed I have thoughts of unaliving myself more often, some times I feel the betting companies manipulate people spiritually to get them addicted where be playing without plans and strategy. Once a bet place get cut, there is this uncomfortable urge to quickly book another one with the plans of recovering the first money lost but it will end up cutting again.

The casino is not manipulating anyone to gamble out of their wish. It's a personal decision to gamble and make fun through the activity. Gamblers operate in unique ways, so as you should. Maybe the strategies which you implement is not good enough to secure or limit the urge of gambling from coming up often times. When gambling it's crucial to have some arrangement within yourself and follow a guide that works. Instead of playing out of fear or making mistakes in the hopes of winning big. No need of feeling depressed. It only gets the trouble worse as the healing progress can be delayed. You should be focusing on maintaining yourself not to get in deeper trouble than you're facing right now. Gambling is not an avenue for making huge amount of money. You may have been disappointed as a result of loss of money and not earning the money you wished to get via gambling.

That urge relies on the player. Though it appears so strong, but that doesn't mean we all need to be victim of trying again. When the game is no longer fun to you, then stop for the moment and relax against the next session. Viewing the game as a must win affair will only get you as a player more worried why you're not winning in the process. Assuming the player participates in gambling for fun, he won't get worried over the losses or wins. What matters most is playing the game within the duration he's made out for gambling. That's why the timing is quite very important for gamblers. Self-control is a required skill that one need to possess as gamblers. Don't chase loss, Op, it'll only worsen the situation. The urge can be controlled. All you need is to be a responsible gambler.

Yes, it's great if we can convince the player to play smart. I think no one is against this. It’s just that many addicts don’t know how to play, what smart strategy to use. They use very simple strategies and believe that they are intellectuals who have learned the secrets of the universe. I would recommend learning and mastering something new. Or even play other games. This is both distracting and allows you to take a fresh look at your strategies. In addition, it prevents tilt.
I think there are quite a few really skilled gamblers that are also addicted.

The thing is that it is independent of your level of skill, but of course there are more unskilled gamblers so you see more addicted ones in total.

You always need to keep things in check unless you want things to spin out of control at some point.

No gambler is immune to addiction. Anybody could get addicted, and it's a matter of how the player follows his strategies. It's not simple to gamble and not have some signs of addiction. As you said, Nullama, some professional gamblers also get addicted. Therapists pondering why professional gamblers get addicted, left them with the conclusion that anybody could get addicted. While we gamble, it's needful to keep observing the required rules needed to keep us safe from being addicted. The reason some advanced gamblers get addicted is due to the insignia people already put on them for being a professional gambler. It can deceive the person to think he won't get addicted, ever, in gambling. Not knowing that he's still at the mercy of gambling addiction and remain vulnerable to it. Hence, he could get addicted anytime soon.

The right thing to do is staying true to the strategy which took us to the top in gambling. Since the professionals can get addicted, what more the newbies. They'll have a hard time keeping up with the game without being addicted. Gambling addiction is too strong to avoid, due to the amount of money needed to gamble and win big. Everyone wants money to some extent. That means gamblers won't stop easily, it's more like a lifelong attitude. Gambling is not a game where a person can play for few days and stop. This makes it difficult to heal and addicted person. Because he has invested time and money in gambling. Counseling him wouldn't be an easy task. Looking for a cheaper means of curing the person, exists, but if it keeps delaying the process, the gambler is mandated to see a psychotherapist. Since it has to do with the brain.
1033  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: January 18, 2024, 04:54:29 PM
I think many people should keep their gambling a secret simply because they have nothing to brag about. Either there is nothing to boast about yet or there will never be anything to boast about. When a person is long-term successful, it is usually difficult for him to restrain himself from demonstrating the material results of his success. This is a natural human desire. It’s as if a person proves to himself and those around him that he doesn’t just spend a huge amount of time on the game. But in most cases there is still nothing to be proud of.

If we put aside boasting, should then a person keep gambling habit in secret? Boasting with money isnt something that is accepted by society, but what if I have deposited a thousand, and won few dollars. Should I keep that in secret on purpose (meaning if someone eventually spot a gambling game on my screen, should I immediately minimize or hide it?). What if I am not trying to boast with amount I have won, but I simply have a smile on a face that I won. Should I change it to poker face immediately? And if someone asks why I am smiling, then I should lie that I've got it by gambling. Most people here think I should do that. While I think there is nothing be ashamed of, nothing to hide, let other mind their own business.

We can turn this discussion into victory in gambling = success. Should we keep our success in secret? Athletes boast with medals all the time Cheesy

        -  What you said, although I have never seen anyone bragging about gambling, saying that a large deposit made in a casino is bragging even though there is no need to brag, then what is bragging about? the big deposit in the casino? How can you brag about that if you didn't win at gambling? Instead, the size of the amount that you boasted about, you just lost.

Isn't it better that the amount of money you put into the casino is small or limited so that, in the end, the small amount of money you deposit in a casino grows, so at this point, you or we can brag about it because we ended up taking home a win?

The most crucial aspect of gambling is being on the right track, responsible gambling. Whatever one wants to do, once it has been ascertained that the person is a responsible gambler, doesn't matter anymore. The goal is becoming smart and making changes when necessary. Relationship with others doesn't make any changes in the life of the gambler. Why should one brag over his habit, if he's on the right track. It's a matter of explanation over bragging or noise on the type of money we've made in gambling. Gambling is not something to brag about, it's a game. A gambler could win today and lose out the next time he gambles. How would he feel after bragging and lose out on the next session. Hence, no need to be ashamed of our habit. They're some gamblers who would hide their screen or minimize if someone else tries to spy on their screen.

On the previous response of a member, he said within him the person can join gambling and end up becoming compulsive on the long run. As gamblers we need to understand how people around us feel about gambling. Before unveiling our gambling habit to them, they may have shown some interest or asked us about what we always focus our mind doing on the laptop. Or after a big win, the person asks questions on the new gadgets or products the gambler is buying. How he got his money? It's then left for the gambler to share his gambling activities with the person, and add some tips, what the person needs to know regarding gambling. No need bragging about that. It's a matter of personal discussion. Not trying to convince the person to gamble. But, letting them discover the positive aspect of gambling.
1034  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who does gambling addiction affect the most? on: January 18, 2024, 01:55:16 PM
When you say family, you mean his wife and children or you mean his parents. If a married person is an addicted gambler, I think he is going to affect his wife and will affect his children as well because the children are going to view gambling as a bad thing. They will never see gambling as good thing because the only person they look upto has lost it and the wife might even manipulate them just to save them from following the path of their dad not to become a gambler. As for the finances, the family as a whole are going to be affected because they might even struggle to eat because addiction makes one foolish.

As for a person that is not married, as in a single man might only feel the financial instability, the parent will only feel like they lost a precious person to gambling and that's all except if he is a person that take care of their financial billings and I guess a responsible person will not go beyond his limit to become an addicted gambler, that is even why the casino do warn people to gamble responsibly.

In any sense, his wife, kids and parents would get a fair share of the struggle. A married man is also a member of his father's family. Whatever happens to him Healthwise may need the attention of his father and mother. Although in a case where the gambler is not married. The trouble will be lesser compared to a married man. As he'd have a hard time running his family efficiently. Addicted gamblers face difficulties even after getting cured of the addiction. Those troubles are expected to be taken care of by his loved ones. Not just parents or family. Friends, colleagues and well-wishers can lift his problem up and endeavor to solve it. A problem that is divided gets easier to solve.

However, in the situation of the world, today, the problem is mainly for the family to solve, depending on the personality of the gambler in the society. How well he's contributed to the lives of people around him. So, if the person has been taken care of by his friends and well-wishers, sooner they'll forget about the dispute when the addiction is cured. But, the family of the addict, would hardly forget it because of the bond they've got with the person. Though it's a personal decision to be affected or not. The addict lives with the thoughts forever, even if he doesn't know what happened. He would know and hear from other people the type of behavior he displayed while addicted. The debts, compulsive gambling, etc. Some of the addict, after being healed, would complain to his family over what troubles them and the signs happening in their body system. Those complaints of him, could be refreshing the mind of his loved ones, to keep reminding the past experience they had with the gambler.

Keeping our gambling habits a secret is very important because it ensures that someone is not influenced by us, especially when it comes to those closest to us and we don't want them to become addicted to gambling, usually people who are new to casinos usually have high curiosity, therefore  It's best to distance ourselves from relatives or friends, at least playing when we're alone is much better.  rather than playing online casinos when with friends.

Keeping your gambling habit secret is optional as it varies amongst gamblers. It all depends on the person gambling. Your point of keeping it a secret for fear of influencing others. I don’t think it would any fault of yours if someone else get influenced without you putting any effort into doing so.
People enjoy gambling with friends as it could be enjoyable winning and losing with friends around having cheers and boos when there’s a win and when there’s a loss.

There are some activities that aren’t just fun when done alone.

The influenced person has to pay the price of being responsible for his gambling activities. Hiding your gambling habit for the sake of some other people getting influenced by you, is cool, but that's not a thing to bother about. They're other reasons why people shouldn't disclose their gambling habit. Not saying yours isn't good enough, at least you've got the people at heart and won't feel comfortable letting others go into gambling prematurely and get addicted. By the way, depending on your personality, don't know what your response would be if someone points fingers at you that you caused his gambling addiction. Like many people already did recently. Especially in the forum where there are few threads discussing about people regretting and blaming others for their failure to be responsible gamblers.

Maintaining a good family and retaining the love we have for our children, can be a better reason why a gambler should hide his habit. Our family may not understand the reason behind why we gamble. And it could cause some trouble between spouses. Avoiding such trouble requires that a gambler keeps his habit mute. Gambling alone isn't fun, as you said Iroh, yet hiding from people won't stop the person from enjoying gambling with friends. The aim is not hiding it from everyone, but the few people who he doesn't want to know of his gambling lifestyle. People do this due to the type of life they portray to the society. Disclosing or gambling openly for everyone to know can only invade the person's personally lifestyle in the society. And the gambler won't be comfortable around his environment, based on what people say about him being a gambler.
1036  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: January 17, 2024, 07:52:07 PM
Become addicted in something, is dangerous whatever it is gambling or drug or something else. Such kind of people don't hesitate to involve with any crime like stealing money, kidnapping people, selling their apartment.
There are addicted gamblers that are hyper active but not coming to this point of their lives that they're going to do most of what you've said. But, it just so happens that many of them actually do it and that's the scary part of being addicted on anything. You are going to anything that you can so that you'll be able to continue to gamble without thinking on what you might have stomped on. It's either your family, colleague, your assets or anything that's precious to you. When you get to that point that you're even willing to sell your soul so that you can gamble, that's the scariest part from these addicts. And you are right that anything that's addictive or addicted to something they like doing, they will do nasty things.

Of course, addiction has its own level, there are those who are still stagnant in bets that are not too big but they do it very often and there are also those who have entered a high level which means that their level of addiction is chronic and they will not find it difficult to make things out of control as an alternative such as stealing or other crimes just to finance their gambling activities, And it is true that this is the scary thing about gambling addiction, not only the visible bad effects but they will also experience enormous mental and psychological pressure, and the proof is that it is not uncommon for us to see people who even go crazy or commit suicide because they are not strong with the mental and psychological pressure they feel, especially when they have entered the level of chronic addiction.

Basically anything that is done excessively is always not good, therefore from now on we must be able to resolve what is wrong with us regarding the gambling activities that we do, there is absolutely no prohibition for anyone from gambling as long as you can control it. everything is good like imposing many restrictions because this is the only thing that can help us.

When a gambler is left without being attended to his level of addiction would increase and expand to a stage where he'd be acting strange. It's important for people to observe their relatives and friends to make sure that they are gambling with a stable mind. Committing crime to generate money for gambling is a bad stage of gambling. Healing such a gambler would cost the family lots of money in the process. As it'll take a long time till he gets free of his problem gambling. As you said, it's a chronic disease, both the therapist and the family need to exercise some patience with the gambler. He's no longer in same thinking level with everyone else. All he's about, gamble.

Instead of letting anyone get to this situation, it's better to call them to mind in the early stages of their addiction. And help the gambler, recover his sense easily. Why gamblers commit suicide is mainly due to compilation of loans they've borrowed to gamble. It leaves the player restless, with no valid means of paying off his debts. Whatever is the trouble, we all know that the player is undergoing a very serious emotional trauma. The trauma is same as that of the drug addict. That's why the gambler tend to act as one. Self-inflicted problems, needs the collaboration of the addict to heal him. Trying to share some advice may not be effective. As the gambler feels he's alright and claim nothing is wrong with him. Even after the person has been cured of his problem gambling, they still act strange as if they'll go back to gambling addiction. I think it's better people check up on any gambler close to them and observe their behaviors.
1037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Social aspects of online gambling on: January 17, 2024, 07:32:20 PM
To the people that have maybe tried both online and physical gambling, how do you perceive the socialization aspects of online gambling?

In my personal opinion: I think casinos that feature crypto gsmbling are somewhat lacking in terms of how players can communicate with each other. I get that some people that gamble online might actually want to avoid talking to other people, but what if you can only gamble online and still want do socialize a little bit?

I don't think they're lacking behind for communicating as they didn't put that in mind when creating online casino as most individual that use online casino are doing that for privacy and comfort. They don't want to socialize while gambling and that's why they didn't use the physical casino. I don't want more to be done to how we communicate online at the moment so we don't lose our privacy and other benefits of online casino that we're enjoy at the moment.

If you want to socialize, there are many other things that you can do to social and if you only want to socialize while gambling, go and use the traditional casino. Online casino don't need more things to be done. The chat box or the live box where some gamblers can discuss is okay. For casino that don't have a chat box that gamblers can use to chat with eachother they can add that to their casino and that's okay.

Online casino would have been completely made private, if not for KYC. But the need to make it a fun place for communication, may not be as expected by some gamblers who wants the communication features available. On the long run, we could be seeing some casino who would adjust things and make availability for a better fun platform. Yet it wouldn't make many changes since the aim of other gambler is to gamble and chat using the chatbox. Any other feature one needs could be gotten on social media platforms. Nothing else can be done to change the way online gamblers communicate with one another. It must be on screen. We cannot feel or touch them, hence the virtual reality we seem to get isn't proper fun compared to what physical casinos provide for gamblers. However, the physical casino is fun, but people still mind their businesses. It's not like all people go there to do is socializing.

The only fun part of physical casinos is when we go together with our close friends, we'll enjoy the games. However, those who came alone can at least discuss with some experts who may want to help them with new strategies. Or argue with them about their prediction being wrong. And they need to try something else. You'd never have a substantial conversation with someone you just met, like you do with an old-time friend. So, an online gambler that wants to have fun like he's in a physical casino, can invite his friends over to his house to gamble with him and share ideas together. No other difference. Aside seeing people, some can go to the physical casino and still go back home not entertained by the people they see in the place. The person needs to know how to hold conversation and possess a good communication skill.

Family and loved ones are something that is always worth fighting for, no matter how severe the addiction we had. For their sake it is worth living and trying to get out of the bottom in which we find ourselves. After all, if you don’t fight, then what’s the point in the game? I want anyone who finds themselves in a difficult situation to watch interviews with gambling addicts. There they talk about their path and what they have come to. I watched dozens of these videos and recognized a part of myself in each one. At some points I thought like them and it caused me fear. You don’t need to think that we are special in the game, we are just very similar in our behavior and actions there. In general, I want to say that for me it was a discovery, I understood a lot about the players, I advise you to watch it, I think this will really help many people not to slide into complete rock bottom.

Showing the addicts some videos to see could be a valid strategy. Another way of introducing the addicted player to reason like the addicts in other locations of the world. However, such technique may not be effective for a long time, until he gets tired of seeing the videos. As he would feel reminded of his troubles at all times. Though I've not known the quality of the videos you talk about, but that wouldn't be an all the time routine, between a therapist and the addict. In the mental clinic the addict needs to share his troubles with the therapist. And while in discussion with the therapist he can use the video as a reference. While maintaining a close relationship with the addict without making him look like the people in the video. It could make the gambler enjoy the session; hence he'd visit some other times. But just viewing videos could be boring and the addict would miss his therapy classes. Because he's not meant to feel like an addict in the first place. The process is just to create a space in his brain for change of habit.

Condemning his situation wouldn't help the player heal or cure his problem gambling. When we find a struggling person, our goal is to struggle with them out of the trouble. Not standing on the corner, yelling, you are the cause of your problem! Same applies to addiction, the therapist is required to claim he's in similar trouble with the addict and offers effective responses to the gambler. To make him understand that the therapist is indeed undergoing same trouble as him. Then he'd easily open up and share more details to his trouble. How it makes him during the day and night. And how long the problem has been persisting. His ways of trying to solve the problem. The moment he begins to open up his personal experiences to the therapist. I think the main aim of therapy has been achieved.
1039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: January 17, 2024, 06:46:41 PM
I could easily imagine there is an important percentage of bettors out there on the internet who have chosen to lie about their winnings in some specific occasions of the betting career because they have been afraid of the public opinion and the opinion of those close to them about losing money to a casino. There is people who lie and deceive others for reasons which at first glance does not make any sense to us, so it should not be a surprise to anyone the fact someone could be able to lie about money.

But why do they have to lie online about that, If they are afraid of judgement from some individuals that are closed to them they can lie offline but not online. I think most of the lies online about what they got from the games they were playing is for deceiving other gamblers to believe that they're experts and if they follow them, they can make money as the individual lying is claiming to make, those individuals lying online are doing that to get followers.

Many influencers online are lying and the gambling influencers are also lying which is why you won't see them losing. You'll only see them making profits all the time but when you try to copy them you'll lose. Some of the influencers are also working for the casino and sportsbooks to bring more customers to them and they make profits from doing this. Influencers are the worst individuals to follow online.

Influencers make up those lies to be able to deceive their followers and drive out funds through them. The online space for most gamblers is an avenue to claim success in gambling. Since people on social media platforms derive joy seeing lies and fake posts, it has allowed for the need for more wrong claims and deceits. The problem arises more when the followers gamble because of the information they've seen on their favorite influencer's page. The online lies seem a bit fair because the person could be generating some impressions through the fake contents, compared to the offline lies where the gambler gains nothing in return for lying. They only do that to impress their friends and make them believe, just like the online gambler, that they're experts in gambling. So, they can pass the message across other acquittances that he's indeed sure of what he's doing in gambling.

Those attitudes don't help the gambler and could lead him to depression and anxiety like most influencers suffer stress and depression, trying to impress their followers. No reasonable explanation is satisfactory to why gamblers lie to their friends. Isn't it some problem gambling signs? Or a more reliable alibi for letting those pressurizing them to stop gambling, overlook their complaints and conclude that the player is not a bad gambler as they may have thought. Their bank roll suffers it, and the player would find gambling for a longer period hard to achieve. As he takes money from his bank roll to claim as his earnings. That's so weird. He wouldn't feel on the inside, while watching his friends devour the money, he's saving for gambling purposes.
1040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: January 17, 2024, 06:23:26 PM
Either you are successful or a responsible gambler, my people don't care, they will give you names that's suited for a addicted gambler and possibly stamp it on you forever, the way my country people thinks can be annoying at times.

From my own point of view, I don't see anything wrong here, a successful gambler might at one point struggle with gambling addiction and won the battle, such people will eventually become a better gambler and grow with time, but whatever people will say is just peoples opinion, most of them will never look at a successful gambler as a real man.

It's possible that those who ridicule you when you are a poor gambler can make a turn and start trying to get closer to you once you are successful, mind you, it's human nature, people are too shameless, but just have it in mind that once that money fades away they will always disappear from your life.

I think it's very hard for people to know us and your activities well. Our friends and family that spend a lot of time with us will be able to tell more about our gambling endeavors than our colleagues at work, or some strangers that we rarely met. So, how much value can we give to those people calling us gambling addicts? In the end it comes down to us taking a look at ourselves and see how many hours we spend gambling and profitable we are. Just because some has the feeling we are an gambling addict doesn't make it true. Verifying if we are a successful or unsuccessful gambler is easy for anybody that keeps track of his bankroll. Checking how much money we are up or down over the years can help a lot. But it's also no indication if we are an addict or not. I wouldn't give much attention to random people people calling me addict, only if it's a good friend or a family member.

Successful gamblers spend more time gambling that people would think they're addicted. That's a personal observation and the successful gambler is not meant to bother himself over what people say about him and his habit. Hence, his priority would be gambling at controllable pace, so he'd be able to maintain being a professional than the addict he's called. However, the fault is not on the people, they have their personal reasons for doing all that which consists of not being well informed of the differences between an addict and a successful gambler. The conclusion for non-gamblers is determined on the duration the player spends gambling. It's mainly a difficult thing for non-gamblers to differentiate between successful gamblers and addicts.

But, whoever, has been in the same home with an addict, would figure out that much uniqueness exists between these two gamblers when he finds a successful gambler. The successful players give people reason to see the sweetness of gambling. Their actions uplift gamblers in the eyes of close relatives who are non-gamblers. Some of them make out time to discuss importance of gambling with their loved ones. While an addict would be a pain in the ass of his family, a successful gambler changes the perspective of the people around him. By ensuring that they get whatever they need from him, and he still makes out time to gamble. Running his family proficiently and efficiently with no back logs on the long run. In a nutshell, they should be a personal experience for the non-gamblers to see the differences.
