1021  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17+ 70/73 some basic questions. on: October 18, 2021, 02:41:31 PM
240v outlets is a good start but main question that remains is how much power are they good for? Remember, today's miners all pull over 3kw each.

Hoping this is not deleted as it was about chips as it relates to BTC chips and lack of them which means no gear for sale or sell a few at stupid high prices.
To date nothing has been deleted from this thread. My thanks to all who never pushed the boundaries too hard  Smiley

The goods shortages is not all due to chip shortages. In fact, the various Foundries are almost back up to speed across all nodes. For quite a while now the major blockage has been shipping delays and the lack of containers & ground based transport. ref the Great Pacific Parking Lot stories and this one from a shipping news organization
1023  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: True Random for automatic offline address generator on: October 18, 2021, 01:41:19 AM
My only input is that a FM radio receiver does not produce any audio signal if there is no rf signal. They work by finding a rf signal, locking onto it then responding to the frequency deviations of the signal to create an audio signal. You'll have the baseline thermal noise from semiconductors but that's it.

On the other hand, an AM receiver will pickup and amplify anything including natural radio emissions along with a plethora of man-made signals and would be the best choice to use.
1024  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: First time Bitcoin mining —- looking to getting started mining with 20k on: October 16, 2021, 06:15:27 PM
Start here for what is involved, things to check and trusted manufacturers. There are very few trusted resellers and it is generally best to only buy direct from the mfgrs.

But it was a private key on my old computer that I sold a long time ago.
And you sold it without 1st backing up and then wiping the hard drive? Nice way to compromise security of all your accounts that you had accessed using it...

And no doubt some idjit will buy it for around that price.  Angry
1027  Other / Off-topic / Re: new website project (non-BTC related) about TV series need input on: October 15, 2021, 12:50:54 PM
Emerald City that NBC ran for just 1 season is one of those. A terrific series with great promise, had a strong following, great season closer leading into What's Next and - bam - it never returned.
1028  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: October 14, 2021, 08:55:43 PM
Got my stick Cheesy Now just have to load up my Lenovo Atom powered W7 micro PC with the software and try it. Eventually will use one of of my Avalon Pi's for it and me other sticks.
1029  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Duty, Tariff, VAT Rates on: October 14, 2021, 12:38:53 PM
Hong Kong has very few component production companies or assembly factories and where the major production of sub assemblies and final assembly occurs is what matters. In other words most of Bitmain miners are Made In China. Not sure if BM still runs any Malaysian factories that they used to get around the tariff regulations.

Yer just going to have to wait and see.
1030  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: October 13, 2021, 05:12:39 PM
Does anyone know if I can daisy chain powered usb hubs to mine with Gekkoscience Newpacs? My laptop doesn’t have enough USB ports; so I was wondering whether my 3rd powered hub could be connected to the 2nd via usb and still work? Or would that damage the miners?
The only concern is that the power hub has enough power per-port available and how it divvies it up. Some like the 7-port one from Plugable can only supply full power (3A) to 3 ports: 1, 3, 5. Ports 2,4,6 & 7 each share regulated power with those 1st 3 I listed.

Most folks here will recommend Sidehack's hub as it can supply 3A per-port (or 6A if you use every other one).
1031  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think new technology prices will ever go down? on: October 13, 2021, 03:59:07 PM
No. The top-end models are expensive because the mfgrs have to pay all the costs they incurred in designing & producing the 'latest & greatest' devices. Prices eventually go down only after those front-end costs are paid for.

Except for miners that is. For a long time now miner makers strictly follow the 'what the Market will Pay' rule. The R&D costs for the current generations of miners were paid for probably in the 1st couple batches - and even then the 1st ones were cheaper than they are today. With the prices Bitmain and others are charging for new miners it's all gravy for them now...
1032  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is Blokforge still legit? on: October 13, 2021, 02:49:02 PM
Along those lines, in the Kanopool Discord room, Wavelengths has noted that his s19 ordered through Compass mining over a month ago and due to be online by Oct. 30 has also not yet started to leave China and is 'Pending'.

Bet a lot of Bitmain resellers are in the same boat and are shitting bricks...

1034  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is Blokforge still legit? on: October 11, 2021, 11:23:30 PM
The only thing that I can think of regarding S19's ordered from Blokforge is this from the speculation thread. Looking like BM is not surprisingly running behind schedule...

1036  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: KanoPool 0.9% fee 🐈 since 2014 - Solo 0.5% fee - Worldwide - 2432 blocks on: October 11, 2021, 09:47:33 PM
re: miner size and 'Luck'... As Kano said, each block is found by just 1 miner. I must add that it does NOT have to be particularly big/fast one.

2 years ago my "Lucky" r4 running 8-9THs found the third block in its lifetime by returning a diff of 151.7009T which is far beyond what is needed for any ridiculously high diff we will see in the at least near future. Hopefully many years out... Just goes to show it can easily be done with even a small miner if the miner software is working right.
How do you know if one of your miners was the one to find a block?
Several ways:
For 1, my monitoring software tells me as soon as it happens
2, check your miner GUI - most will tell you if you found one
3, KanoPool lets every registered user know who found it. Just check the pool stats and the pool keeps full records of everything from day-1 of it starting.

I can't believe it only has 23k views but most are to smart for the own good like you.
And no the whole point is not 1+1≠2 he serves it up to Einstein, Newton and the holy grail Gravity.
Thank god it has ONLY 23k views...
As for "too smart for their own good", so it is targeted at ignorant folks that who, facts be damned, believe only what they want to like you? Well, you got that part right.
1038  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICWAY - AW1 380TH/s 650W - SCAM? on: October 09, 2021, 12:08:13 PM
Current best is 110TH @ 3.4kw so those specs with over 3x the speed and a fraction of the power are impossible.
SCAM
1039  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo BTC Software/Image and Support thread on: October 08, 2021, 01:13:43 PM
Can anyone recommend a good PSU to use to run 2 LTC and 2 BTC miners? Right now I'm using the Futurebit power supplies and one blew up on me so I'm looking to replace and consolidate.
sigh....
What are the model numbers or better yet, how much power does each one need? We're not psychic and there are many different miners that all use different amounts of power...
1040  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC Miner Order (aisenminer.top) SCAM ? on: October 08, 2021, 12:37:33 PM
Sounds like the scammers are really itching to get your money (and then ignore you)....
A trustworthy seller will not pursue buyers for 1 or 2 miners.
