Rapper Drake lost $850,000 on Logan Paul's fight with Dillon Danis - despite backing the right man to win. Paul took on Danis over six rounds last night alongside KSI's defeat by Tommy Fury in Manchester. Paul dominated the first five rounds before Danis was disqualified in the final session for attempting to choke out his rival. Paul was declared the winner - but not by knock out as Drake had predicted. The rapper, who is seen as something of a curse given his poor gambling record, had staked $850,000 (£700,000) on Paul to win by stoppage and would have collected $1.3million (£1m) had he been successful.

The Drake's Curse.

He lost on the right man. We have experienced losses but not as bad as this...this is just terrible.

What do the gambling folks have to say about this?

As a gambler you should understand that favourite most times doesn't win the game, that is why is called prediction. for you to predict and get the person that will successfully win the fight, shows that you have foresight. so you're ability analysis and get it right, show's that you know who will be the winner of the day. so if Drake's losses on this one, obviously his gambling foresight for this particular fight was inaccurate. Drake is millionaire, and his also a high staker in gambling. Though there a lots of good wins I've seen from him, His a professional gambler, and that title comes with you losing good money too. The higher the risk, the higher the reward they say, though the amount he has lost so far, wouldn't get to him financially because his a rich guy.
1022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is different from other means of investment on: October 15, 2023, 06:05:33 PM
Even though some people will argue that Bitcoin was not created primarily as a means of investment, it has become obvious that Bitcoin presents a good investment opportunity. Many people even use Bitcoin as a hedge against fiat is plagued by inflation. One aspect that have created much argument is real estate with many saying it is more reliable than Bitcoin that they claim is risky.

I know several threads have been made in this regards with most of them moribund. I created this post because I feel so bad regarding what happened in my country. As you can see in this post and the video in it, the state government demolished an entire estate with several buildings and properties inside. This is peoples investment that just got destroyed. This was a property approved by previous administration but demolished by new government...another risk many people do not put into consideration in real estate and some other physical investments.  This is a confirmation that Bitcoin is safer and better than many conventional investment portfolios.

Anyone still doubting the freedom, comfort and peace that Bitcoin offers is probably yet to embrace reality.

Everything in life have Risk, those  that invested  in real estate are doing so at least to help people to have a place to stay, so people can have a place to do business, so people can also have place to showcase their talents like halls to for hire for an event and all sort other things. But I would still say, real estate investment is good investment. Investment varies, if you're a bitcoin enthusiast, you can successfully invest in bitcoin and yield your profit. So I feel everybody should be allowed to follow their passion. Bitcoin has its own advantage and most of us including me, has decided to adopt the bitcoin, but people should be free to make their choices
1023  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: It seems multitasking is the only way out of poverty on: October 15, 2023, 03:59:09 PM
When we look at the state of our country's economy, it's obvious that relying on one particular source of income cannot really be enough to pay your bills, especially when you have a family. In most countries when you have a good skill, or a stable job can take good care of you even if you have a family. The only thing you need to work more for is promotion. However, it is different here.

I have observed that most persons have more than 5 different jobs. If one job doesn't pay this week then the other will. That is what is in their mind. For instance, a man will be working as an engineer in a company, still a government teacher, also have a shop for small business and also a bolt driver. All these things just to survive. I don't like the fact that maintaining a standard of living has to be very challenging like this. If there is a way that working salary would be increased, tit would at least reduce the need for multitasking because all these things are part of those things that gradually affects our health and reduce life spam.

Perhaps you would know other method that can help reduce multitasking

Multitasking is a veritable means of surviving in an unhealthy economy, but in a bid to enhance your survival you need to specifically check on your spending as well. you should cut down things you don't necessarily need. But I doubt if anybody in Nigeria can successfully get up to 5 jobs at the same time. I can agree with getting two but five in Nigeria is very unlikely, considering our employment system that  mostly unemploy people on 8-5 Hours routine, it's will be a bit difficult to get up to that number (5).
1024  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Smart not Hardwork on: October 15, 2023, 02:57:09 PM
Many person has several patterns and ween to several areas at which favors them where else becomes the other way round for another.

Many believes hardwork drives one into light but it can be contradicting as hell cos in this present era it becomes more of being smart than hardwork.
Doing more of hard work than working smart will get you to a certain level of achievement where applying more knowledge and critical skills would amount to greater achievements

We all set goals and apply certain strategies to get there, can be of the same goal but different strategies. The smartest gets better result than the one who only believes in his ability, knowing is not enough but smartness in applying what is known is needed for better achievement.
In doing Bitcoin we should be smart enough to study the market and manage speculations
There are few factors that makes a person smart, considering:

  • Inquisitiveness : Having this mindset of wanting and willing to learn is one attribute to being smart, a smart person never sees things as common, always curious to learn. They say "Learning never ends", and  "No acquired Knowledge is a waste"
  • Sensitive to better ideas : There is, well a need to be sensitive. When in the midst of good speakers, paying good attention to the speaker so as to grab good ideas that can be relatably used, can be on a face to face level or through the media
  • Asking questions : After listening to good speakers, there must be something shady and not completely comprehended but the curiosity to ask question for a clear picture is also attributed to being smart, as they say "A problem known, is a problem solved"

Going through your post, I just remembered a quotation in the bible that says, wisdom is the principal thing, there for get wisdom, and in getting wisdom also get understanding. So in working hard, always try to apply wisdom to your hardwork by being smart, because it will ease your stress. So in bitcoin, you need to learn and know how to invest properly, you need to understand the market forces, when to buy and when sell if your trading.
1025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 14, 2023, 11:57:31 PM
Juventus are said to be considering a move for Jadon Sancho. Honestly I think Sancho would also be likely to leave the team at the earliest opportunity. He has a really bad relationship with Erik ten Hag now you know. It doesn't look like there will be a middle way found soon either. The best for Sancho is to leave the team as it seems.

I would actually like to see him going back to Dortmund. Because he had a really good chemistry back then and his performance was really great. But if that doesn't happen then he can just look for his other options such as Juventus.

It's not just Juventus but also Barcelona is linked to this player and after the drama he had with Ten Hag there is a chance for this palyer to leave Manchester United because currently he is not happy there and he doesn't have any chance to show his performance while we know Sancho is talented player and he is still young can he can have good performance in other teams if Ten Hag doesn't want to accept him in Manchester United.

https://www.goal.com/en/news/man-utd-barcelona-jadon-sancho-loan/blt51ec8c47c4097892

If they can meet up with the Valuations of Manchester, then he can choose where he'll want to further his career. He is a player with a strong character, refusing to tender the apologies makes me laugh.
Good he has decided and that stands he wi leave Manchester United when the Transfer Window opens.
I would also love they do same with some Manchester United players that are not good enough. Victor Lindelof should go and same with the name Harry Maguire.
If they fail to leave they can't have enough minutes to play then.

Manchester United has not shown good media control on this matter,  it is that,  they cannot resolve issues internally.  I feel there is more to the whole story than, wanting to say he should tender apology. That was how Manchester United could not handle properly the case of greenwood  and the whole matter escalated without control. United should do in resolving some of this issues on their own.

Xabi has received widespread praise for his first job in senior management, having proven hugely successful since taking over at Leverkusen. Of course, Real Madrid is a name that is difficult to refuse if an offer comes. But my advice to Xabi is: Stay at Leverkusen until 2025. I think he should repay the board of directors and Bayer Leverkusen fans. Real Madrid not only holds an advantage in this race. Liverpool is also ready to join the race to bring Xabi Alonso to Anfield. The contract between Xabi Alonso and Leverkusen has a release clause. As far as I know, if one of his three old clubs, including Real, Bayern, and Liverpool, offers in 2024, Leverkusen will have to let him leave. The amount and terms are currently unknown.
Ancelotti's reign would soon come to an end and he'll leave the club to go focus on his managerial career in the Brazil national team  and I believe he might resign sooner, therefore Realmadrid shouldn't think twice in getting their former player Xabi cause I believe he'll make the perfect replacement for Ancelotti and also he could influence some of his current good performing players at Leverkusen to move over to Madrid with him, for instance Victor Boniface, who's a very good finisher and one of the best in the Bundesliga currently.

Bayern already has a good coach in person of Thomas Tuchel and they've got no plans of sacking him yet, however Liverpool still got more contract with Klopp and could however still move  for Xabi in a case where Klopp seek to retire but I think the best option for Xabi to move to would be Realmadrid cause they've got a good board and owner that would back him up with funds and help him sign the rightful players to enable him succeed.

Yes. Real Madrid is in immediate need of a coach to replace Ancelotti when he is ready to resign. But even though Xabi will be the head coach, Victor Boniface is still not a name for Real Madrid to target. Victor Boniface will most likely be the top scorer for the Bundesliga. But Kylian Mbappé is the striker they want most right now.
If Xabi still wants to continue to stay at Leverkusen, Real Madrid still has many names to choose from, such as Roberto De Zerbi, Antonio Conte, Hansi Flick, and finally, they cannot miss the name Zinedine Zidane on the list. Some media reports have said that he will return as a coach. It's great that the French legend returned to the Real Madrid hot seat.

I don't think Madrid needs a change of coach because Ancelotti has been doing well so far, except Zinedine comes back, because I feel his best fitted for that position. Victor Boniface is in currently in good shape, based on his performance so far, but I didn't think Madrid will go for him, I don't know why but I just feel the pulse that they wouldn't go for him.
1027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An agent is no where to be found. on: October 14, 2023, 10:37:33 PM
Today I witness something very strange in the area where I live recently. There was a gambling shop that was not too far from where I am staying, so every day different gamblers visit the shop to bet on games, some win and some don't win a dime.

So, yesterday afternoon, a man bet on a midnight game and the game played accordingly as predicted, but the surprising thing was that the betting agent ran away with the money the man won, and the betting agent is no where to be found.

However, I am here to say these are the reasons why it is not always good to gamble in a betting agent's shop, because if the manager of the shop does not run with the money a gambler wins, then one of the workers in the betting shop might run away with the money someone wins, so I do conclude that an online gambling site with good reputation is the best for gambler, so what do you guys have to say about this?.

Online gambling is still the best but they still have their own deficiencies  too, because most times you have to do a lot of verifications and kyc before you can actually touch your money after winning a bet. But I think is the most effective, because your money will be credited your bet account easily and to to agent account.
But this particular incident you are describing, I'm trying to understand.
is it that the money that was won by the person that placed the bet was credited into the betting agent account, if that is the case, the original winner of the bet can take up the matter to the betting company direct with his bet ticket, I believe the bet company will do something about it.

just imagine the number of people he has scammed and what those people will think of Bitcoin, obviously they will have a negative attachment on Bitcoin whenever they remember the incident, if for any reason they traded with this scammer.  so I want to actually applaud the law enforcement agencies for doing a good job and tackling some of these scammers, and this particular one I'm sure will end up in jail.
1029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Low cost but effective solutions to gambling addiction on: October 13, 2023, 08:56:06 PM
One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.

Most private therapy sessions are very expensive but there are government-owned therapy doctors and personnel's  that you can get at affordable rates depending on the place you stay or your country.
But you will need to divert that addiction to something else because it cannot go almost immediately so you can either redirect it to someone else like reading books or watching a movie, pending when you will fully recover from your addition. But personally you can actually do it on your own, if you're determined to stop the addiction habit, you can do it by training yourself by giving yourself some good discipline, you where not born with it, so why can't you stop it on your own.
1030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 13, 2023, 08:18:28 PM
Was Ten Hag's sacking a good decision? This will set a new record again for Man United. But indeed I read a lot of news in the local media, Man United players began to dislike the coach's policy. I don't really understand, but in these conditions it should be professional players with whoever they work with. But indeed if the condition has been bad then they could have bad results. It seems that the problems with Sancho and Ronaldo will be a problem that continues to be remembered.
You used past tense in place of future tense such that I got confused and began to search the threads were it was discussed that Manchester United has sacked Erik Ten Hang. Manchester United should not conceive of sacking Erik Ten hang because he is not the problem of Manchester United. If Manchester United insists and sack Erik Ten Hang, their problems will be like that of Chelsea who is always changing coaches.

Manchester United management needed to release money to get quality players to Manchester United. Since the last 5 season's or so, there have been many average players in Manchester United. You honestly cannot use average players to compete with Manchester city, Arsenal and Liverpool. Let alone the risen stars like Brighton and Newcastle United.

The owners and management of Manchester United have not put into thoughts or discussion to show Erik Ten Hag the sack letter. Sacking Erik Ten Hag would be a dump move honestly.
That would be a dump way to acknowledge a coach that won both the way to the top four and winning them a trophy in his very first season. He also has more winning rate percentage compared to Alex Fergusons debut season as Manchester United manager.

He will be given this season to thrive once more. Injures are the biggest draw back now. They will do better soon enough.

Eric ten hag hasn't shown too much of success, especially considering the amount he has spent in signing players. Manchester United doesn't have any play maker, just as CITY have Erling haaland. United have a good number of average players that are trying to keep the team aload.
Is it that, Eric ten hag doesn't have to foresight to pick good play makers for united. The comparison between sir Ferguson and ten hag isn't necessary, because ten hag hasn't shown any capacity to earn such comparison.
1031  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: some of the best ways to secure yourself from scammers on: October 13, 2023, 07:49:44 PM
Vigilance, awareness, and sound security procedures are all necessary for scammer protection.
Here are some of the finest defences against con artists
Learn for Yourself Your strongest line of defence is knowledge. Keep up with typical fraud schemes and techniques. The more information you have, the easier it will be to spot and prevent such frauds.
Check identities Never give personal or financial information to anybody without first confirming their identity. Request formal credentials and check with the organisation by contacting them through their website or other contact details.

In protecting yourself against scam, there are lots of things you have to do in addition to the ones you mentioned, you have to set your gadgets on a two factor authentication or verification before anybody or including yourself can log in into important apps on your gadgets.  You shouldn't as well click on  links you cannot authenticate the sender, or what what the website is all about, this are little things you have to do not to fall a victim.
1032  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sherbet.com - $1,000 Welcome Package - #1 Social Casino - $15,000 Weekly Race 🤑 on: October 13, 2023, 07:34:49 PM
.
.

I can't say anything about Indonesia but when I see that list, I really wonder, if Sherbet and other Curaçao based casinos are prohibited in those countries, then who gambles? And even more curious is that I see a lot of people who are from prohibited countries and gamble via VPN. I don't understand what was the point of such restrictions in the first place when there are easy ways to bypass them.

You can bypass the restriction and access the website but if you are a resident from that list then you can't be verified when KYC asked and many casinos have mandatory KYC to withdraw funds including Sherbet so the point of such restriction is you can't take your money unless you get verified.

The problem comes only when there are casinos which doesn't have mandatory KYC and let the users to withdraw but suddenly they will seek verification by that time the user will left stranded with no choice other than give up their funds.

That's the main point, if you bypass the restrictions, obviously you will have to withdraw your funds after a win, that's where KYC comes into play at that moment. Is not only sherbet, there are lots of casino's that will make you go through that process, so at the point on registration, if you skip that verification part, your only doing yourself because you will still to verify before you can access your funds
1033  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Will Nigerians Marketers Accept Bitcoin if Legalized on: October 12, 2023, 10:52:07 PM
Have been wondering if Nigeria government makes bitcoin legalized, and if he does, will our marketers/traders accept bitcoin as exchange for buying of goods. Me I know naija very well, if government talk A we the citizens fit do B, na normal thing for naija. So we have been talking about bitcoin and the government gave deaf ear, but if government finally legalize bitcoin will our marketers accept bitcoin?
From my paspective our marketers will not accept bitcoin as there currency.
  • just like what have been saying we live in a digital dispensation and bitcoin has also contributed to our technology world today. And most of our marketers are not well educated about bitcoin, before owning bitcoin the person must have a knowledge about bitcoin, secondly bitcoin has to do with phones and Internet, traders in market will say they don't have android phones. And those business women will tell you straight to your face that they need fiat, some will tell you say them no go school. Just like wetin I talk when government talk A citizens go do B. I even remember last time wey our former president change the old currency and when I took the new naira note to the market, most traders rejected the money that the money looks fake and they will not accept the new naira note.
  • scam: most traders for naija don decide say anything associated with phone and transfer na scam. Even some pos point no dey accept transfer, talkless of bitcoin.
  • even if government legalize bitcoin that does not mean government will not take taxes, marketers are entitled to pay their tax. Of course government will not accept bitcoin as there tax payment. Marketers pay taxes with fiat currency and not with bitcoin, so traders will say they cannot receive bitcoin as there payment and pay fiat to the government.
  • even pos systems does not accept bitcoin, most of our local traders doesn't have bank accounts, and when tranfering fiat currency we make use of the pos machine but how will it work if the pos machine doesn't have bitcoin or other cryptocurreny.
  • bitcoin payment has no refunds, when the coin has been mistakenly transfer to another address then it is gone.

Even with government restrictions, bitcoin and other cryptocurrency is still making waves across the country. So imagine if the restrictions are lifted, private sectors and business owners will continue invest heavily on bitcoin. As we speak right now, there is hardly a young man in Nigeria that is not into crypto, either buying to hold or trading.

People way go dey interested in bitcoin, no be POS people oh, or road sided traders. Bitcoin na decentralised digital currency, no be something way government go begin wan tax person, that eye way u dey see bitcoin, no be so e be. Cryptocurrency dey different from fiat, so anybody way wan use am, already know watin crypto dey all about.
1034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 12, 2023, 09:21:22 PM
Today I encountered again my biggest nemesis on gambling which is being stuck on my gambling progress. I’ve gambling for multiple days in a row with just having a breakeven on my total bankroll. This due to the game doesn’t gave me any long winning streak and only just more losses. The only thing that makes me keep up on the breakeven side is the increased on wager to recover my losses but my gambling result is literally 1 win to 3 or more losses ratio. This is how bad my overall game.

The only good news is this time I remember how this weakness of mine always makes me lose in the past so I stop already gambling and take a break. This is what I’m trying to share here. If you really feel that your gambling doesn’t want to make you move forward by having decent profit and just giving you a hard time then don’t hesitate to quit! Don’t push forward while you are already playing uncomfortably because this will just make you bet recklessly.

Have a break and just gamble newt week or month because a lucky game will make you win easily and not with a very hard to win winning condition.

As a gambler you should know when to take a break, that's what makes you a professional gambler. gambling is all about risk-taking it is something you should do for leisure, something you do when you're free. it is not something you should be doing on a stretch like almost every day. Gambling is addictive, so you need to wash yourself if you are not going past the red lines, because it can mess with your mental health, so always check and balance yourself.
1035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop discouraging Newbies from Bitcoin... on: October 12, 2023, 05:55:43 PM
I have noticed something about some people in this forum...

Why is it that everytime a newbie shows his or her interest in trading Bitcoin, some people will always try to discourage the newbie?  You see them saying things like “Bitcoin trading is not for newbies”

None of us here was born a professional trader, fact is that we all had to start from somewhere. We were all once a newbie, until we started learning and putting in the work.

So when you see a newbie ask for advice on how to start up on their journey in Bitcoin trading, don't try to discourage them, rather give them the advice on how they can start, and also let them be aware of the risks and how to avoid it. If we must grow the community, then we have to learn to encourage everyone to get along, and not try to discourage them.

.
Thanks.

I believe most persons try to make those discouraging remarks maybe because of their experience in trading. trading is not something you will just wake up and want to do as a newbie, considering how volatile the market is.
you need to have a mentor or somebody you are under his tutelage to guide you on how to navigate the market. So don't really see it as a discouraging remark, just see it some sort of advise as against you going into what you're not well groomed on.
As a newbie without proper knowledge of the bitcoin market, trust me you will blow your account.
1036  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Correlation between buying and selling of bitcoin: Is it a technical methodology on: October 12, 2023, 04:51:29 PM
For the time being I have joined bitcointalk and also the bitcoin market. I always hear that, when the market is buying there will be an increase in price of bitcoin and when it is selling there will be a decrease in the price.
My question is that, what makes the price go up as people are buying and the price goes down as people are selling because what I understand is that this action cannot increase or reduce the quantity of bitcoin available, so what action actually makes it to increase or reduce in price, is it the marketers, miners or who does that? Is there any technical reason behind that actually?
More clarification on this will be appreciated.

The law of  demand and  supply has a lot to do with the increase in  supply and availability of the product(bitcoin), once there is a scarcity of the product, the value goes high,  so also if the product is very much available, the value drops. So the market forces between the buyers and sellers, always determines if the value will increase or decrease.
So if a seller deside to sell the product at a higher amount, automatically most sellers will tow towards increasing amount of the product, buyer's will try to fight that amount to a lower price. Hence there will be a back and forth price range between both of them.

Omo make them carry their e-naira go one corner,  how them even think am self, after putting restrictions on cryptocurrency, them expect the populize to embrace their rubbish e-naira. Already we know say e-naira dey, but trust me, we no wan use am. Ordinarily who would want to adopt a currency that's drops in value every now and then. Let me even ask, what's the benefit of adopting e-naira self?

At one of the local gambling shop I visited during the weekend I happened to listen to a conversation between two bald looking gamblers at the shop talking about one of their gambling colleague who had won a big amount of money amounting to a million in the local currency and due to that win this colleague of theirs' has been avoiding them since e won that money. From their conversation it was obvious that they were a circle of close three friends that gamble together.

After all I finished with my bet headed home and was asking myself what could the colleague act that way avoiding his close friends they all gambling together and just because luck shines on him first he decides to create a distance and class. I couldn't actually annex a good reason why anyone should do that.

I think they are not true friends, because that's a great sense of hypocrisy displayed there by  the friend that has won the money, nobody avoids his true friends after making a good win, that's greed. Though there is a saying that, money brings out the true character of a person, and this guy has shown his real character. He doesn't want his friends to bill him, so that's why his avoiding them.

Most times I play my games online, even if I win or I loose, nobody will knows. But trust me when my guys come around, I show them love, especially when i win big money.

How Much Do You Trust Bitcoin?

Those who invested later, IS ANYONE BUYING BITCOIN AT 60 K?

Imagine Buying Bitcoin AT 60 K And Your Money Is Now 0

Well, Bitcoin Stagnated in the 20-30 Band, Do You Think the Number Could Fall?

I think the numbers will actually rise above 20-30 as you've speculated, I have so far observed the bitcoin market, ever since the launch of bitcoin it has never gone to that zero number your speculating. But as an investor, you need to be optimistic about your investment, nobody invest his money with the mindset of his investment nosediving.
