1021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 20, 2023, 08:48:58 PM

Source: https://talksport.com/football/1607101/andrew-robertson-injury-new-fitness-liverpool-everton-premier-league/

The international break was another disaster and this time it was the turn of Liverpool's mainstay left back, Andrew Robertson, who had to be sidelined due to a shoulder injury he suffered while playing for Scotland against Spain last week. Reportedly, the shoulder injury was quite serious and he had to be out for up to 10 weeks. This is clearly a loss for Liverpool, especially as his role as a starter can never be replaced. This week there is also a Merseyside derby match against Everton and I think this time Liverpool's defense will be a little loose on the left side of the defense. I hope Kloop can overcome this problem and put the right player in place of Andrew Robertson.
International break is always a disaster and there must be injury problem when players go to play for their countries. The coaches don’t like it when players go back home to play for their countries but nothing can be done about that, no matter what is at stake and even if there is a champions league final to play players must honor their country whenever they are being called upon.

A lot of players usually pick up injuries in international matches which could probably be as a result of changes in play pattern. It is not only Robertson of Liverpool that picked up injury this time even Disasi of Chelsea picked up a knock as well though it’s not too serious but we are not sure if he would be available for selection tomorrow against Arsenal. Robertson’s injury on the other is a serious one and will be challenging for Kloop to manage other players available on the left defense. Tsimikas is available and will immediately fill in that space though he cannot fully perform Robertson’s role but he can be managed until he recovers from the injury.

I remember when Jose maurinho's was complaining about international breaks, that his players don't always come back the same, because they will end up picking an injury 🤕 before they return to their clubs.
I saw a video of neymar picking an injury during the Brazil game, and I felt bad. I feel international games are more aggressive than normal club side games.

Let's discuss the unique challenges of responsible gambling in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Crypto gambling can be fun, but it's important to keep our financial boundaries intact.

Share your tips and thoughts on staying responsible in this digital realm.
Gambling is something I do with a lot of modest and responsible manner.
Yesterday I lost good money on a game that was given to me by a friend to play. He said,he is very sure of the game, he was explaining to me with a lot of conviction that I should play the game. I had to stake the game with a good amount of money, unfortunately all the games played against his predictions. After the incident, I've decided to give myself a break, to recover and also build my staking powers for more games ahead.
So I try as much as possible to regular my financial activities, to suite my gambling life
1023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think gambling is inbuilt, kids don't learn it anywhere, they do it! on: October 20, 2023, 06:33:37 PM
The Australian Government once said about abolishing gambling ads as a means of reducing gambling activities amongst underage people. But, I think they'll be no successful way of stopping young people from gambling. As it's in them. Most articles here also say things like gambling addiction being hereditary. That means gambling can be hereditary as well. Because I just watched from a distant two kids below 10 years, staking bets, after a long argument about who the artiste of a specific song is. They later staked close to 40 cents each, for the person who gets the answer right. Then they went ahead to verify. And I lost sight of them. I thought about, how come or who thought these kids about betting money during a long argument. I was able to memorize, back when I was a kid. We easily said, how much would you bet if it turns out I'm saying the truth; during an argument. It made me understand that, despite during those days we had no phones or access to the internet, gambling is somehow embedded to the brain of humans. Then, as a child, we weren't exposed to gambling. I could only remember of lotto, as a kid. But we still said things like "let's bet it"

Those children would know gambling in one way or the other, they go to school, they hang out with their friends, so in one way or the other they must have heard about it, and to also know how it's been done.
If you have children, take out time to observe them or ask them some in-depth questions, you will be amazed to see hear things they know. But I still don't think gambling is hereditary, as gambling is something parents learn on their own, there is not a biological proof to show that offsprings  could inherit gambling traits from their parents.
1024  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Marriage right wan de increase pass price of goods o! on: October 19, 2023, 10:39:32 PM
The issue on what and how much is to be paid when you meet your in-laws to seek their daughter's hand in marriage is something that should be seriously looked into. I meant, some family have a drafted list of goods, materials and payment to be made by any man coming to marry their daughter with little or no consideration on the persons financial status. It gets even worse in cases where families will be comparing their list of items with that of their Neighbours just to make sure that there's is higher and will in the process frustrate the innocent man that is just trying to start his life.

Because of these, some men have left their fiancée halfway because they can't spend such amount of money and after the marriage suffer to take care of their family. Some, in the process of meeting these demands have incurred huge debt just because they want to meet up with the demand.

I have a relative in her early 30s who is yet unmarried because the fiancée is still trying to save money to meet up with the dowries and expenses involved in the marriage process and menopause is looking at them with one eye.

Personally, I feel if two persons have agreed to get married, it should be a thing of joy to the two families involved and the best they should think of is to support this young people trying to start up a family of their own with any resource (both financial and whatever) at their disposal and not use the opportunity to drain them off the little thing they have.

Sincerely this marriage right matter taya me oh. Marriage right don com be like say, na buy I don come buy the woman. By the time u go dey through with pay pay,  you don dey run into financial crisis all in the name marriage. My own be say if I pay those big money finish on top marriage, my in-laws no go near my house again, I don't know what you will be looking for in my house after collecting huge amount from me
1025  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CERTIFICATE CRISIS AMONGST NIGERIAN POLITICIANS on: October 19, 2023, 09:45:08 PM
Certificate clash wey dey among our so called politicians every time don dey dey alarming and too much. The aspect wey hit my heart be say this issue no go come up from the onset na when them don finish election, announced  the winner and the so claimed winner go assumed office for weeks and months before the matter go arise. This kind thing dey happen for other countries de wey  e dey happen for Nigeria at all.
The past President Muhammadu Buhari experienced the issue and currently Bola Ahmed Tinubu dey inside the matter now. I think na  prank these people dey do because last last them go manoeuvre the situation and e no go hold water.
Why is it so in Nigeria?
I just say make I drive in this one in, wetin una think.

Omo the truth be say, some of this our leaders no get any certificate, some no even go school self. Na because say our justice system don turn to something else, if not the court for don nullify some of these elections based on certificate matters. The politicians already don know say, nothing come out from the system so dem dey do anything way them like without remorse. We need to sanitize our judicial system if not we'll continue to see situations like this recurring.
1026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports bets or in-house games, which is best for the weekend. on: October 19, 2023, 08:49:28 PM
Hey, fellow gamblers so I have some free time for the coming weekend and I want to spend it with family and also enjoy some games,  I want maximum entertainment and fun to ease me off the stress.

My challenge is, I have limited funds to spend on gambling for the weekend so I have to be very accurate and certain about what I will be spending my money on this weekend, and I am confused about which of the games to go for.

weekends are for football matches, where I can watch the games,  make analyses and stake my bets along that line,  which have always been the usual rutin for all.

Also in house games are also very exciting and entertaining since I will be in control of the games and their potential outcomes keeping in mind the possibility of the house edge,  so this brought me to this confusing position between which of the both to choose from and so I will like to get individual opinions on the best games for the weekend.

Sport bets vs in-house games which is most enjoyable and has a higher tendency of bringing much winning compared to it possibility of losing?

I think you should go for the home games as you've rightly said that you have limited funds for gambling.. homes games will enable you spend much time with your family, and it's entertaining as you've rightly put. You could as well look within yourself to see which one  of them is best suited for you, but left alone with me I will say you should spend time with your family
1027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 19, 2023, 07:05:30 PM
At least, because previously Arsenal managed to beat Manchester City, of course, this factor will make it predicted that Arsenal will also win against Chelsea. After all, we are all aware that Chelsea's situation and conditions have been devastated since last season, and have not improved until now. Therefore, it is natural that Arsenal remains the team that is projected to win this match and as such, the home and away factor is no longer important at this moment because on paper Arsenal will definitely win.

I will be a little different from you. Indeed, on paper Arsenal will be favorites to win the London derby this time, especially as Arsenal have never lost in the EPL league so far. But if in football we don't have to be 100 percent sure that Arsenal will win this derby, we have to leave a little luck for Chelsea. Even though home and away don't have an effect in a match, I have a little confidence that Chelsea can do it in this match.

Because this victory is very important for Chelsea to take advantage of their moment of revival when we know they have been in decline. Because in the EPL league there are always surprises where a team experiences mental decline but then they can recover without us expecting it. I don't mean to belittle Arsenal, but Chelsea can win because they need to bounce back and I believe Poch can recreate that winning mentality for Chelsea. Because he has good and talented players too.

That London derby match is a game that I'm going to stay glued to my TV till the end, I feel Chelsea will win that match, though arsenal looks like the favourite, but they are always a bit shaky whenever they meet Chelsea. Though this season hasn't been one of the best for Chelsea as their youngsters have been performing below expectation but they might just pull a stunt against Arsenal, because they will see it as a big match that they would really love to impress, besides they are the home team.

1029  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigerian naira hits record black market low of 1,100 per dollar on: October 19, 2023, 05:00:50 PM
Nigeria's naira hit a record low of 1,100 per dollar on the black market on Wednesday, online platform abokiFX showed, a day after the currency hit a new low on the official market due to persistent dollar shortages.

The naira has been in freefall on the unofficial market, where it trades freely, which worsened after currency restrictions were lifted on the official market.source

The economy of Nigeria is currently on a live support machine, the economy is in dire need of respiration. Exporters are finding the situation not funny as they cannot get a good return in investment after bringing in goods into the country in hard currency, because inflation is on the high side, and local retailers purchasing power is weak. Nigeria is an oil producing state, just like Qatar and other oil nations that are doing well, so why is Nigeria own different.
1030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 18, 2023, 11:15:56 PM
It was really nice to see a different team in the finale previously. Maybe Inter lost to Manchester City there but they stayed strong most of the time. I would like to see a different in the finale once again this season. Arsenal would be a nice candidate this time. Arteta has been managing the team really good and this effort can carry them to bigger successes.

I just want to watch them against bigger teams than the ones in their group as well. They are really good at dealing with top teams in the Premier League. I wonder whether they can do this in the Champions League too.

Inter Milan Vs Manchester city was good game to watch, at least we saw different teams people didn't expect playing the finals after a long time, it really gave the champions League a different feeling.

Arteta has really done a good job in building a team in arsenal, there performance last season and this season has greatly improved compared to three or four seasons ago. Same thing I've been complaining about ten hag, about him not being able to build a team you can comfortable say will win matches week in week out, everybody is building a solid team among the top four, United seems to be left behind.
1031  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question for those who loose too frequently in gambling on: October 18, 2023, 10:37:56 PM
I have often wondered about the people who have lost a lot in gambling and who almost loose in every gambling activity they participate. What is their reason or motivation to continue even after so many losses?

The reason for those people that always gamble after a consistent lost is that,  they always I have it at the back of their mind, that they will one day win big. the propelling factor can also be about the fact that they've heard stories of their friends or close relatives winning it big, so that keeps them going with the hope that one day, it will be the lucky day for them,  and that's the spirit of gambling because actually one day will come and they will win it big.

I create this post after I see say, a post wey Dem create about this board as e wan turn to market place where them dey drop anything them like. E good make we tell ourself truth. D way wey some people dey accuse others for the forum don dey too much, abeg.
If you don grow your account or you don stay for long no mean say anybody with lower rank na trash be their post.

Since we no get moderator yet, anybody wey overdo pass in self make Dem let an know with love. I no dey like make person dey address others with hash words just because your rank pass others. 1033  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What really happened to Nigeria Economy on: October 18, 2023, 09:36:25 PM
I think there things we are not doing as people, during the time of Goodluck Jonathan, he assembled powerful and experienced people as his cabinet ministers, that managed to sustain the economy that period.
But the set of person's now at the helm of affairs, they don't even know why some of them are ministers. We need to diversify the economy to revive it, like go massively into agriculture and mineral resources and not solely depend on crude oil.
1034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: October 18, 2023, 05:52:12 PM
At least they have had a bit of an uptrend the last three games. I thought that Mourinho is about to get sacked, but I guess that winning three games in a row with 10:1 goals helped him save his position, although I am unsure whether Mourinho is interested at all to fulfill his contract with Roma or whether he would be happy about getting sacked. I think he hasn't been the coach he used to be for quite a while now and sometimes when you watch him, it looks like he is following the game with some kind of disinterest. I would be surprised if we don't soon see him making a lot of money in Saudi Arabia. To me it seems that this is what he is waiting for.
AS Roma have started on the wrong foot this season, 3W 2D 3L is really a poor start for them but they are quite doing an exceptional work in Europa League. That's specifically what's triggering the team's level of football and will continue to grow. José Mourinho is a genius and have saved his position as headcoach countless times. AS Roma respects him because he has worked extremely hard to earn it. Winning the Europa Conference League title with Roma and earning them accumulative points in Seria A despite the tough competition among elite teams.
Roma did start the season quite badly. But slowly now they have improved. And in the last 3 matches, AS Roma also won everything. And in the European League, Roma has not yet lost. So for me Mourinho is still very worthy of being kept. Because after all, AS Roma didn't buy many expensive players in the transfer market yesterday. And Mourinho just maximizes every player the squad has. Lukaku's arrival to the team has had a positive impact and it looks like Roma will indeed get better from now on. It's okay to start badly as long as you can end the season well.
Roma had a slow start to the season but are now back on a winning streak. If the stats of the last few matches are anything to go by, the stats of the last few matches are in their favour. Although they got off to a slow start in the Italian league, they performed well in the Europa League group stage matches. They have earned 6 points in the first two matches of the Europa League. Having won the first two matches of the Europa League, their second round is already assured, now only the third match awaits. Roma will be looking to match the performance they have had in their first two matches in the Europa League this season, and will certainly look to match their third match to secure the next round from their group as an unbeaten team.
Yeah the Jose maurinho's side started on a slow pace this season, especially on their league, there performance hasn't been too impressive, considering the fact that the special one is now in charge. But I think they are the favourite to win Europa League considering their consistency in performance in the last few games, they really pose a threat to other teams.
1035  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: October 18, 2023, 04:26:19 PM
Things has really changed unlike before when a graduate is coming out from the university their are job opportunities around the corners, people don't even stress themselves to acquire skills as an alternative just in case they don't get a job. Getting a job as a graduate some years back was a thing never to argue about or think about.  In this recent time things have really changed, expecting so much from the government as a graduate can lead people into serious problems.  The life we live now is so unpredictable, no one can be sure of practicing their desired career from what they have learnt in school.

I think if people really want to be happy in life, expecially undergraduates and young graduate they should learn not to give all expectations of having living job from the government.  If people create the mindset of being creative and productive in this era they will live a more happy life than putting all expectations of getting a dream job from the government.  A productive mindset is what young people needs to make life easy and worth living.

Reason why you have to analyse the situation is because our government across the world are not being responsive or responsible to the plight of young persons in this generation.  the government is empowered with the revenue of the state to make sure the lives of young people and the energy the young people have is well channel for the productivity and the enhancements of a state. Hence this objective is not gotten the society gradually turned into a failed state. Education ordinarily teaches you how to be productive and also teach you how to think outside the box, for if there are no jobs out there, you as a young person should think of business to do, you should think of how to source out capital to go into investment like bitcoin, real estate and other things you can think of, because as a human being you must survive.
1036  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 18, 2023, 03:43:07 PM
Was Ten Hag's decision to dump De Gea and buy Onana the best decision? I don't think so. He has conceded 19 times in 11 matches. Pretty bad stats with fantastic transfer prices. Even Onana also did not only make one mistake resulting in a goal. I don't blame him all, because their defence is not very good either. But it seems that Ten Hag's football philosophy is not entirely running smoothly. Many supporters hope De Gea can return to Man United.
Erik Ten Hag have been making crucial mistakes in Old Trafford since his appointment as headcoach for the Red Devils. Manchester United supporters just hoped he would be able to amend the current condition of the team because things are actually not moving according his plans and they're conceding goals in every game played both EPL and UEFA Champions League. Signing André Onana as a backup replacement for David de Gea was such a terrible mistakes which won't have happen if Erik Ten Hag gave listening ears to the spaniard goalkeeper. Perhaps there's absolutely nothing he can do because the mistakes is already done, what he would do is simply surf for the solid solutions to the team's difficulties.

Same thing I've been complaining about Eric ten hag, he is full of trial and error, when I noticed this was when he had issues with Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo was obviously the best attacker united had that season, he started putting him on the bench, as if he had a better plan, some times he played him towards the end of the match, a player that is capable of turning around the game in your favour. I knew he was doing that to prove a point to Ronaldo, that he is under him his control as a manager, so can do whatever he wants.  David de gea was doing just fine with United, why on earth did he not renew his contract. Ten hag went and brought onana a colossal failure to team. Ten hag needs more learning, United is too big to be managed by a coach that doesn't have foresight.
1037  Economy / Economics / Re: Dangers of combining company and personal funds in the same account on: October 18, 2023, 02:17:03 PM
The issue of holding organization funds by an individual, lets say the treasurer of the organization should be heavily discouraged as most times it does not end well and leads to the funds being utilized or stolen by the person in charge. organizations should plan their startup properly and that includes being properly registered with the government which enables them to open a company account with approved banks.
However, there are slim exceptions whereby the organization are not much financially stable and funds are not readily available to go through the process of company registration and they startup their activities with the motive of doing the needful later as they grow in finance. this now leads to the organization funds being held by trusted members for the time being. Another one and the one that prompted me to start this topic gave me a really big challenge and I learnt invaluable lessons from it. It is the issue of holding association funds temporarily pending the rectification of accounts and change of signatories with past leaders whom have relocated from the state.

This is a very risky and complicated matter, and it is even more complicated when you combine the association funds with your own personal funds in the same account. The risk of overspending may arise as you will constantly see enough funds in your account and might tend to forget that there are foreign funds present and before you realize what you've done, you're already indebted to the company.
Secondly, there is this sense of caution that arise instinctively when your personal funds is diminishing whereby you restrict yourself to having only things you really need and curb all excesses until you are back to having much funds. In the case of combined funds, that discipline might not be observed as you see encouraging figures always.
Thirdly, You might intentionally spend the alien funds with the thought of replacing it whenever you own funds are available. This is a very big mistake without proper accounting and documentation to checkmate what you spend because before you know it, you've utilized more than your assumed funds can handle and leave yourself in a great mess.

A good solution to this is to have an entirely different account to receive funds that is not yours and refuse to have ATM card or much access to that account. In fact, the account should be as good as forgotten by you and the only connection to it is withdrawing funds for the organization purpose, Receiving credit and debit alerts to be able to monitor the activities of the account. You also need to have a place that you detail the transactions on that account, like your private record so that you can have the account record ready at any time it is requested by the organization. this rapid accounting relieves you the stress and time wastage of explaining yourself too much as everything related to the transactions on the account is properly penned down and possibly snapped and backed up in your google drive for retrieval in case you misplace the books.
This way, you will have two advantages
  • Reduced Interaction with with funds that are not yours as there is a separation of concerns and you get to plan yourself properly with your funds
  • You gain respect by being accountable for the funds anytime as you have the transactions carefully spelt out in your accounting books and a backup online if books are far fetched

Finally, Keep the pressure for account rectification on and ensure funds are out of your control as soon as it's done to relieve yourself from the temptations that are associated with being in custody of association funds. I advise you to update your personal records immediately there is a transaction whether debit or credit as you may forget the details sooner or later and put yourself under unnecessary stress.

Note: At the time of developing this topic, Discussing it with a friend, I learnt of a woman leader whom squandered millions under her care for the purchase of association luxurious buses and started shedding tears when asked to return the funds within one week. All these could have been avoided If the organization had its account or if she had known these principles above.

Normally as a manager of a company or a CEO supposedly, it is best for you to always have a separate account with your business account most marketers and account managers will give you the advice of not wanting to run your entire financial activity on one account. Most cases it's even advised to have more than one company account, with different account managers. The complexity of running a business is too flexible to want to mix it with your family or your private money, you have staff's to pay, you will advertise your product all of this cost money, so it should be separated so you would know  your operational cost and what the company is generating so you could check and balance ⚖️ your business, to know if your making profit.

As content creation gains popularity and people start making it big from YouTube/ Facebook monetization, content creators are becoming increasingly desperate and are willing to do any content to gain followers.

Pranking people on the street has become a common order with no consideration of the victim's emotional/psychological state of mind.

While we watch these videos and enjoy the entertainment part of it, some of the people pranked are left emotionally drained, some relationship/ couples trust has broken because they were pranked to check there faithfulness to each other and some people have lost so much useful information from there phone because a popular prankster smatched it on the ground and gives the victim a new one, not considering some important information in the phone that might be lost in the process.

Of course, some of these guys have landed themselves in trouble because they pranked the wrong person but others are yet to learn there lessons.

Entertainment is not bad, as a matter of fact I enjoy watching them alot but when you ridicule or take advantage of the ignorance of others just to create your content, it becomes a problem.

Omo the whole content creating of a thing has turned to in epidemic in Nigeria, from eating of food, to swimming in gutters, to nakedness, on social media. This entertainment pattern is becoming irritating nowadays.
The other day, I was just walking into the Spar mall, a guy just approached me with a mic 🎤 that he has a question to ask him, that I should give him five minutes of my time with a camera man beside him, I just look am with my vex mind, i just tell am to commot for my front, when him see my countenance say I no get joy, Baba just give me my way. Cointelegraph issues apology after falsely announcing that BlackRock's Spot Bitcoin ETF was approved by the SEC.

This news raised the price of Bitcoin in a short time.

where can I find the famous fake news in the last 5 years?

thx guys Wink
I initially saw the news on X, I was even suprise to later notice it was fake.
But my question is, why were they in a rush to publish such fake information to the public, is it that there is something they have in mind to drive at or is it that they're trying to get to SEC to make them approve Bitcoin ETH, because this approval has been lingering for a long time now and Rumours have been flying about this approval thing.
