I see that many people have problems with the pcb s5, often go out, and you have to restart 2/3 times a day, I hope bitmain find a solution to this problem, it is suicidal to restart continuously miners Shocked

I actually have done pretty good the past week with mine.  Normally I was going 1 or 2 times a week to reset.  Now Ive went 3/4th of a week without needing to.

Cant say anything caused it just luck, but I hope it keeps going.
FWIW -- I've gone several weeks now with no issues with my six S5.  The temp outside and especially inside has risen considerably (me in my drawers), and yet they've hung in quite well, not yet exceeding 63C.  Of course, I changed the fans and dropped the clock to now 312.5MHz, but fact is, I've been expecting temp complaints -- haven't happened.  I use switched Westhash and haven't experienced any lockups since raising the clock from 306.25MHz to 312.5.  I did experience one situation where the reported temp rose to and exceeded 80C on two miners, but power cycling plus cool-off period corrected the problem, hasn't re-occurred.  So, I don't know if I'm just being lucky or what, but although the S3 is clearly a more bullet proof beast, the S5 is currently doing well for me.

@MMpool

Is there any prospect for my being able to connect more than one Antminer S5 to your pool?  I've had to shut down four of the six S3 (getting too warm in here) and would really like to redirect another three S5.  What is necessary in order to accomplish this?  If you need to observe server behavior with them, then let's arrange for that!

Thanks -- Trevor

PS. After over two days of uninterrupted mining on MMpool, the single S5 reports an A/R ratio of 612, so it's not an inherent miner problem.  Why do the A/R ratios collapse with more than one S5 connected to your pool?  Would really like to solve this problem!  How about you?

@MMpool

Thought I'd try increasing the Antminer S5 count again, using this configuration:
stratum+tcp://mmpool.org:3333
<pool user ID>
d=512

Just one was running fine, so added a second.  Rejects increased some over a half hour period.  Added a third and within ten minutes the A/R ratio on the new arrival was 1.8 which is very poor (at about 30min it was 1.4).  Can anything be done to fix this?

PS. Am now dropping back to just two S5 again, restarted both at the same time.  After ~15 minutes their respective A/R ratios are 11.1 and 1.8, I obviously have to drop back to one S5 again.

PPS. I've noticed the rejects don't show up singly, but in bursts.  Looks like a timing problem to me.

PPPS. Thought I'd list the A/R ratios for the six Antminer S3: 519, 535, 586, 626, 421, 266 (am rebooting this last one)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Been over an hour now since returning the second two S5 to Eligius.  Vari-diff has set 512 for both and their A/R ratios are: 551 and 1389 -- it's not a miner hardware problem.

I'm running them underclocked and the reported hash rate is 990 to 1030GH/s.  I originally ran four at d=1024.  Am now trying 256 and adding one S5 at a time.

OK, after adding the third S5 with diff 256, the rejects on the first took off.
Can you PM me your username and I'll monitor what's going on. It could be the miner is slightly incompatible with the stratum server I'm using or vice versa.
PM sent,

I've dropped back to just two Antminer S5 (clocked at 312.5MHz) with diff 512 and they at present seem stable.  Adding a third is bad regardless of diff setting.  The others are back on Eligius and switched Westhash and running fine.  If you want me to add a third again for observation, I'll need a specific time period for it, I've already wasted hours of Hash due to this and I can't keep doing that.

Damn! The major rejects have kicked in again!  Got to drop down to one!

Now down to just one, see if the server can handle that!
To follow up:  With a single underclocked Antminer S5, the reject rate remains high relative to Eligius, but not outrageous.  To try to characterize the overall impact on mining results, with 4xS5 (diff 1024) and 6xS3 (diff 256), my MMpool hash stat was ~5TH/s (I expected ~6).  After removing 3xS5, the stat has dropped to ~3.8TH/s!  Hopefully, you can appreciate my concern, roughly 3TH/s was being whittled down to about 1.2!  Aargh!

Just returned all but one to Eligius (vari diff 128) and those three immediately returned to their roughly zero rejects.  I set the diff on the one remaining S5 to 128 and it appeared fine.  I then added one of the others also at 128 and immediately rejects jumped up.  I think that pool's server is at capacity!  Need more MM pool options!
The pool is no where near capacity. We've had in the past a much higher hash rate that we have now. What hash rate do the S5's have? I'll advise on a difficulty rate to set it to.

I'm running them underclocked and the reported hash rate is 990 to 1030GH/s.  I originally ran four at d=1024.  Am now trying 256 and adding one S5 at a time.

OK, after adding the third S5 with diff 256, the rejects on the first took off.

Retrying with the same three and "d=512".  Rejects are still high (~10-20%, normal Eligius ~ 0%), but not insane!  Am not adding a fourth with this high rate.  Previously tried "d=1024" and it failed miserably with four S5.
Don't know what else I can do.  S5 just doesn't seem compatible with the pool.

EDIT:  Watching a little more, I'm seeing acceptances for awhile and then then rejects start taking over.  I've got to return the third S5 to Eligius, wasting electricity like crazy here.
1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Miners Update to 0.10 on: May 13, 2015, 10:26:21 PM
I moved six S3 miners (d=256) and four S5 miners (d=1024) to MMpool.org:3333 and I have massive rejects on each S5 (33 to 50+%).  I've tried changing their diff to 512 and also to 2048 and the rejects remain crazy.  It's appearing to me that pool isn't usable by S5 miners.  Any hints on how to solve the problem?

EDIT: Just returned all but one to Eligius (vari diff 128) and those three immediately returned to their roughly zero rejects.  I set the diff on the one remaining S5 to 128 and it appeared fine.  I then added one of the others also at 128 and immediately rejects jumped up.  I think that pool's server is at capacity!  Need more MM pool options!

EDIT2: Just trying "d=256" and adding just one S5 at a time to see what happens.

OK, so I'm a Windows user and have been mining UNO on iSpace.  Between halving of the block reward and an above reported increase in hash due to merge mining, I gather mining just UNO anymore is a disaster.  So, I may as well use the time waiting for a new Windows wallet learning about merge mining.

Is merge mining always BTC plus an alt coin or are there other combinations?  Is UNO merge mining with just BTC or are there other combinations?  What pools support UNO merge mining?
Thanks for your hash, and your interest in continuing to mine Uno.

You can now simultaneously mine Btc and 6 other coins (including Uno) at http://mmpool.org/register

Also look at xpool.ca, who just announced they have added Uno to merged mining.
Thanks for getting back to me!  I've moved two miners to MMpool and am, so to say, trying the water.  Is there any statistical info comparing MM BTC Vs straight BTC return, and also MM Alt Vs straight Alt?  (Example, if my primary focus with a given miner is BTC, how much of a BTC return hit would it take if merge mining with an Alt?  Likewise if the focus were on the Alt?)  I would expect there to be inefficiencies and would like to have some statistical sense of their impact.

I've not done anything. My pool's been down for months (More specifically down since the day i posted it here like i said).

Ahmed
What you posted is that you moved it, and that you intended to open it to the public, but that never happened.  You also posted that you targeted major hash as a "test".  None of which is particularly believable at this point!  What I see is you saw an opportunity and you took it, and most likely many lost plenty! In the process, BCX was killed!  "one of the most profitable sha coins around".  You're just another cryptocoin liar and opportunist!  There's clearly plenty of them!

Well, well, well!  It appears Cryptsy has pulled the plug on BCX.  Or more specifically, Ahmed Brody!  I really hate to see BCX go, but it's very clear Brody killed it!  Thanks very much for your kindness Ahmed, wonder how many people you were able to screw for the welfare of your pocket?

The hashrate is high since mining BCX is one of the most profitable sha coins around.

Ahmed

Well, as far as I can tell, there is still no pool available for BCX, but despite that, CoinWarz shows continued hash, though it's finally dropped to a mere 20TH/s, but the difficulty remains stuck at the same high 4.5 million.
Not long after I mentioned that lower hash rate it again jumped up to the 160TH/s neighborhood and I've now observed what appears very much a BCX pump and dump.  I've the suspicion the only individual benefiting from the new private pool is the owner, mining it like crazy, pumping the price, and then dumping as the hoi-polloi notice the price growth and decide they want a slice!  BCX has been turned into a scam coin -- a shame!  Sad  At least, it fully explains why he chose not to open the pool up to the public.  Wonder how many P&D cycles he can pull this for?

And you just proved my point, dead set dumb shit you are, got nothing to do with being a tree hugging hippy, wow you are pretty dumb. Your loss and I am glad you feel that way, more information for me and out of dumb arse hands like yours.  So keep hating loser I love it.  Bye Smiley
Dumb?  You are the definition!  Congratulations!  There are people who deserve respect, unfortunately, you're not one of them.  Try harder and perhaps you'll make it.  Best wishes!  Smiley

PS.  Sorry, I'm being unnecessarily cruel!  It wasn't my original intention, but I'm really finding you to be especially nasty!  Can you please adjust that?

Disclosure: I've never read the Harry Potter series and do not practice magic.

EDIT: Also, I am not Batman.

EDIT2: Also, I am not a Doctor and do not play on on TV.
I have no comprehension of the Batman and Doctor references, but if you at all enjoy dark fantasy alternate reality reading, I heartily recommend the Harry Potter series of J.K.Rowling books.  The movies are also very good, but the books are better.  Muggles are to be understood, appreciated and respected, it's just that they, you and I lack magic (they are us)!  HJG can only wish!

Sorry, the fact you haven't seen things that came before doesn't mean that rowling and her infinite wisdom is better. I would love to buy you a clue i really would, you need it.  You must be like 20 if that.  So the last 10 years is or so makes a lot of sense in regards to your choices of book.  If you haven't read any batman or even googled it,  you cant say it has "no alternative dark fantasy endings" same with Dr Who..  You are not well read at all or even watched a lot of stuff  if you are basing things of fucking harry potter ffs..lol at you.  You can have a cry at my post or whatever you want like you will usually do and call me a troll, but facts are facts.

We all get the muggle reference, and its a fucking stupid one as it borderlines on a racist term used irl when referring to a mix raced person - we are not stupid but its easy to give a word a new meaning as rowling did.  But I digress, its pretty easy spotting the kids on these forums and I told myself this was the last time, but I couldn't let something and someone as stupid as you pass me by this time.

Also, if you want to get technical on the last line you wrote, EVERYONE can do magic in real life if you are dedicated enough though meditation and exercises -  thats for you to google. But more information rowling fucked up and you eat it up.  You are either Homero or just are stupid as him which is it ?
OK, this is pure shit.  Guess I was mistaken in allowing for the possibility of humanist intelligence in this crowd.  Blame me for continuing hopefulness.  The one constant here is derision!  Hence my continually growing list of ignores.  Yeah, Potter is fantasy, I already specified that myself!  My primary interest is other.  How about getting off your throne and allowing for possibilities for others than yourself!

PS.  I've viewed (and enjoyed) plenty of Dr Who and Batman (and much more), but I fail to see the relevance!

So, HJG sees it as wealthy vs not?  Well, I suspect it's not just HJG, there's clearly a demarcation between the wealthy and the not in the US, as well as most other countries.  In the US we are now revving up for the 2016 presidential election.  Is it really a question of the magic endowed (rich) Vs the muggles (ordinary people)?  Well, I may well be a fool, but I hope not!

Scam Muggles be Scammin' Muggles.
Not clear on what you're saying here.  Personally, I'm a major fan of the Harry Potter series, and hence an appreciator of the problems faced by muggles (that's us).

My understanding is you are Jonah and I've seen less than favorable emails associated with you.  Are you now the people's hero?
It's a keyword thing.
I've no interest in attacking you Jonah, kindly return the favor!

I apologize that I do not share in your lack of interest in attacking me.   You cannot possibly prevent me from talking bad about myself on the internet.  You seem to have taken offense to a random quip made in passing?  What specifically is the issue?
I responded to your comment as above.  Your specific meaning is perhaps known only to yourself.  I can only try to interpret!

@Mage - paycoin was built to be a scam, let it die just as God intended it to.
What leads you to suppose God would choose to have anything whatsoever to do with this?  Has he/she really nothing better to do?  Utter claptrap!

Not to nitpick, but the statement was about God's intent, not that God needs to do anything  Grin

Seriously though, why is it that most Paycoin supporters I've seen here recently are thoroughly avoiding any serious discussion about their coin and instead attacking posters EvilPanda style? That never worked and never will.

So, you actually have the temerity to suggest God has any intent of any sort towards cryptocurrency?  Wow!  What an ego!  Care to reconsider that idiocy?

Speaking for myself, I've already presented my position concerning the coin.  Give the new devs and leadership a chance, we'll see how it works out.  It takes time, allow at least six months before drawing serious conclusions!
