1022  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: When you think you have seen it all. on: November 16, 2023, 05:44:48 PM
It's no doubt that the economy is gradually going from bad to worse and that most of the policies of both the present and past administration hasn't yielded much result that will alleviate the poverty-ravishing the land but that's not enough reason to conclude that the last administration hasn't made successes in some sectors of the nations economy. You have to understand that each of this administration had an agenda before even getting elected into office and while one might be focused on boosting the economy, another might centre it policy on security or infrastructural development. Nigeria is a complex society and sometimes I don't generally blame the different president for their inability to tackling certain national issues because they all have ministers and personnel that are saddled with the different responsibility of ensuring that the different sectors function effectively, it's just unfortunate that most of them are not always able to effectively carry out this responsibility.

And I think I disagree with you regarding your statement that this administration has failed so far. The administration is still new and so far I have seen some reasonable policies that they've embarked on that will be of help to the average Nigerian. I'm not politically attached to any of these politician but I feel say e de necessary make we no too de condemn them everytime.
1023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's better to provide Quality and not Quantity... on: November 16, 2023, 05:22:16 PM
Hey forum family!

I am coming to this post for all new members joining here.
I want to share my advice based on what I have seen in the forum till now.

Everyone who starts an account to Bitcointalk feels the urge to post like crazy in order to stay relevant.

But here's the real deal: Quality over Quantity wins every time!

Think about it - a solid, well-thought post speaks louder than a hundred "meh" ones.
Here's why it matters:

Real Talk, Real Connections: When you drop a gem of a post, you're not just talking, you're connecting. Dive deep into discussions that light your fire - you'll build bonds that matter.
You, the Expert: Quality posts show you know your stuff. Whether it's advice or insights, be the go-to person. People notice, trust me!
Not Just Noise: Ever scroll through a thread and see a sea of "lol" and "cool"? Let's not add to the noise. Make every post count, cut through the clutter.
Respect the Scroll: We're all busy, right? A quality post respects people's time. Keep it meaningful, and folks will stick around.

In the end, this forum is like a social community so craft something awesome, something that adds value!
sharing advice when you are supposed to be learning is not the right way to go.  I will recommend that as I beginner you stick more with trying to figure things out rather than offering to teach others the things you are yet to master, Remember you are a newbie (please don't get me wrong, I'm writing this from a standpoint of guiding you in the right part).  Instead of trying to guide your fellow newbie on the right way to go about with there posting without even making reference to already existing post that have given a detail analysis on this, why not search out topics that will help you grow both in the forum and in making proper investments, read those topics thoroughly and if there is any doubt you would want forum members to help you clear, you then post it so all the replies you get will be of help to your growth.
1024  Other / Archival / Re: I am a newbie on: November 16, 2023, 08:37:45 AM
Hi everyone I am a newbie, who is open to learning new things here and also about Bitcoin, sincerely speaking I will say I have little or no knowledge about Bitcoin and I am eagerly seeking to know the basic aspect of it and also to become professional like some of you guys someday, if there is anything I need to know about Bitcoin I am always ready to learn.
great to have you join us here!  Since you are new to this space and bitcoin in general, just take this forum as a new school you just got admitted into. When you start a new school how do you blend into the system? You first observe what's happening around the school and them you ask questions regarding key things that will help you blend easily into the system and with time, you become as strong as the old folks you met when you came in. As a beginner in the forum, your experience level isn't all that strong so you just have to navigate through the forum with caution pending when you're equipped with the needed and right information to engaging and participating effectively in the forum discussion. Make proper use of the search engine to source out for information and on how to clear your doubt and never forget to follow the forum rules and regulations before creating any thread.
1025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start small and don't get tired of growing in the process. on: November 16, 2023, 06:27:07 AM
Invest on knowledge more than money. In this way, as you grow and learn from your mistakes, you are also investing on your experiences which has a direct impact on how a person can potentially earn more in the process
this is so true. We know that money is the ultimate thing that motivates one to seek out for knowledge or try out making any investment but if your mind is so focused on making the money than learning the basics that will guarantee your success in the field, you will face serious challenge in the long run. What I even think when it comes to teaching someone something new is that at the start of the journey, don't inform the person of the financial benefit involved as this might become a serious setback that might hinder the person from learning effectively as a beginner. There is this thing about money that ones it gets into your head, anything that doesn't directly translate into it becomes uninteresting and boring. I guess this is the reason why when someone starts chasing after merit, the quality in the kind of contribution they make starts dropping and they might even get tempted of making continuous threads just to fish after merit when in the right sense, they should be learning from other threads that will give them the right guidance in the forum.
1026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you tell your younger self to learn this space efficiently? on: November 16, 2023, 06:12:09 AM

2.  to learn as much as he finds at his disposal, t
3. To ask as much question as his reasonable to enable him stand on track,
4.  to not wait forever before starting up this journey in the Bitcoin space
5. Not Gl only rely on investing into Bitcoin but should intentionally apply the knowledge of bitcoin in the circular society.
6. As my younger self his his now an old man, I am telling him never to give up but to continue learning and improving on a daily basis.
1027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to bitcoin price if Solar superstorm 'wipe out the internet'? on: November 16, 2023, 06:01:00 AM
While browsing through social media, I came across an article that mentioned Solar superstorms could 'wipe out the internet' for weeks or months, scientist says. Will the loss of internet connectivity for weeks or months affect the value of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin? What will be the outcome?

Source: https://www.foxweather.com/earth-space/solar-storm-wipe-out-internet
you shouldn't be too bothered on things that if it happens, it will affect the whole universe in general. If there is no internet connection, it means that there won't be any activity going on anywhere that required the use on internet connection. There won't be buying or selling of any sort so you have no reason to be afraid of shit as everything in the crypto space will resume as usual once the whole thing has been fixed. What you should be worried about is the effect it will have in the general functioning of the society.
1028  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: An official update on the deadline for the naira note palava on: November 16, 2023, 05:53:07 AM
You should have known that the whole December 31deadline is not feasible at all. The idea for the redesign of the old note is a politically motivated thing and they've used it to actualize there agenda so it's very normal to see statement like this from the central bank. The good thing about this whole cashless policy of a thing is that it has helped most local businesses to start embracing the changes in the use of transfer for making purchases which has reduced to a very large extent the rate at which people now move around with physical cash.
1029  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Importance of learning a skill before gaining admission into the universIty on: November 16, 2023, 05:21:44 AM
My country pipo e go really make sense if you wey they seek for admission into the university learn at least skill wey fit fetch you income the reason why some of us find am hard in school na because we no learn handwork (skill) so the thing come become very difficult to even concentrate properly some days wey nothing day no food no money to go class go worry you and all this things really dey discourage somebody well well, those wey learn handwork before gaining admission into the university no really face much difficulty because them get service to render in exchange for cash aside ur schooling e dey very important to learn handwork before u enter school because that time your brain still dey young and not much responsibility to think of unlike when you finish school to come learn some settings kind of handwork that time go dey very very hard because you done dey think about your responsibility at hand and that time u fit no get chance unlike now wey you still dey mama and papa house this na my own experience and my regret.
Getting skilled before starting an undergraduate journey isn't a bad thing and should be strongly encouraged but however, but it is not compulsory. Some people didn't even have the chance to be skilled at anything reasonably because they got admission immediately after they finished secondary school and were too young to think for themselves that much before the time of their admission.

If not for the fact that our educational system isn't working well and that most of our parents didn't make the right financial preparation for there children regarding how to effectively see them through school, the undergraduate period is specially designed for academic purposes and should not be used for hustles and making of money. The reason why we've not seen much of strong graduates in our society today is because most of our youth are too focused on making money while in school at the detriment of the learning they are supposed to be undergoing.

Getting skilled is good but I think we should understand that education offers one of the greatest combination of skill you've ever thought of. If you put in the effort to learn all the things you're required to learn from your first year in school to your final year, I will tell you this with all sincerity that you will not go out of school looking for job. There are a very handful of individual that are strong academically in our country at the present and this is because most persons are running after grades while other have moved on to looking for money before ever creating values for themselves. If you create enough value for yourself while in school, when you come am you might struggle a bit just to blend into the society but once you do, the rate at which you will rise will marvel people.
1030  Other / Beginners & Help / Start small and don't get tired of growing in the process. on: November 14, 2023, 06:12:08 PM
One of the most difficult parts of any journey in life is the ability to decide to "start" doing something. So many people have great ideas and plans but they never execute a bit of them because it all ends just in the mind but they cannot bring it out to becoming a reality. If you're able to overcome this stage, you then realize you wasted a lot of time waiting for the perfect time to start and that it isn't all that difficult after all. The next huddle is now on how to continue doing what is expected of you for a long time. You might get bored along the way, results might not be coming In as planned and you might start losing interest in what you so longed for. sometimes you might feel that you overhyped the stuff (just know that familiarity is what is speaking in your mind).
For some, because you've been in the system for a long time, you might be tempted to feel too comfortable and the initial energy you had put into your work at the onset will gradually die off and you might not see any reason why you should develop yourself to becoming better.

If you read through this, you might find this applicable to our journey in the forum. Some of us begged our friend to introduce us to the forum and when we came in, at the onset, our energy was high and we actively participated in the activities in the forum and made sure we followed the rules in the forum and ensured that we are practicing all the guide we receive from the forum But after some time, the energy dies down and the quality of our threads and replies starts dropping. It becomes very boring reading for the sake of knowledge and for some that have discovered the importance of merits, they might just go after merits rather than the knowledge that initially brought them to the forum.

I created this just to encourage myself and as many as will find this useful, to keep following the right part, keep learning, practice the little you've learned, and don't wait until you know everything about Bitcoin before you start applying the knowledge you've received. The process might get boring especially when you aren't getting the needed result but just keep trying and moving forward taking a step at a time.
1031  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Every successful innovation is a product of a sound mind and a positive mindset. on: November 14, 2023, 05:08:34 PM
Before you become a millionaire in the physical, you have already made millions in the your mind. It's very difficult for you to achieve what you haven't conceived well in your mind. There is a lot that goes on in the mind, It all starts from imagination and then it grows to the point that you become so convinced of it that you will even get tempted to tell people that you will become a millionaire in the next couple of days. But here is the reality; no matter how real an idea his in the mind, if the required work is not done that will guaranty the fruitfulness of the ideas in your mind, it will all end up as a mere imagination.

Let me also add this. make it a necessity to always write down the thoughts that comes to your mind, chances are that if you just leave it in your mind, while waiting for the resource to come ao you can execute it, you might loose track of it.
1032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not all educated are educated. on: November 14, 2023, 04:49:11 PM
Simply put, banks and fiat are part of the system and bitcoin was invented against the system. Now they are trying to control it as much as possible with more laws, more KYC, demonising mixers and trying to impose blacklists, and if they succeed bitcoin will become part of the system. e part of the system.
That's what they are known for. They don't like it when a system can function independently of their ideology and so will do everything possible within their power to ensure that they either bring it down or succeed in making it a part of their self-centered system. That's why they will rather support the concept of CBDC and banks that they can control and dictate affairs for and will do anything possible to ensure that Bitcoin is not generally acceptable by the majority of the society. The funny thing is that most of the leaders of the  countries that see so many bad thing associated with bitcoin mining and will never accept it in there country are the same people that will steal public funds and convert it to coins so that the financial crime enforcement agency won't be able to trace those money.
1033  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy every dip! on: November 14, 2023, 04:23:55 PM
I believe the phrase "HODL WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE" should be a guide when investing in Bitcoin. As it would go a long way in preventing trauma which may be caused by possible fatal losses especially when investing in shit coins.
Although the phrase "HODL what you can afford to lose" has become a cliche in the world of Bitcoin investment and other types of crypto investment,  an average person doesn't agree with this. The major reason why an average person makes any investment is because they want to make profit out of it either in the long or short run and so, most people don't even want to listen to the hard reality that loss is a serious variable to be put into consideration while making investment of
any kind. And you find some persons investing all their earnings and within a few months, they start expecting their investment to yield returns and if there is a bit of fluctuation in price at that moment, they become troubled and may sell out their investment due to poor investment strategy and plan.

As simple as this sounds and as frequently as it is being reiterated on this platform, people still make unguided and miscalculated investment that makes them very uncomfortable within few months into the investment and will be panicking and looking for news and thread suggesting that the bitcoin price has skyrocketed overnight. Maybe the term HODL  should be written in full with it explanation attached to it always. It meanshold on to dear life I had to emphasise the dear life so people will know that they shouldn't just expect a return overnight.
1034  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: We should control our tongue at all time. on: November 14, 2023, 07:25:20 AM
we should learn how to control our tongue at all time. Don't say unguided words when in public place.

this is a very serious matter that I learned in a very hard way, So let me share my experience regarding this.
During my finals in school I had a project supervisor that disturbed us seriously on the amount of money we should pay for my project work. We paid paid the amount he told us and when we finished the the whole project work, a day to our submission he came up with this random 15k that we should pay before ever signing our work. We begged him but he refused and that led us not to do our internal defence. That made me very angry at him and at several occasion  I will make unguided statement behind his back about how wicked the man his and on how he treated us very bad. The department latter allowed us to joined in the final defense and while we where waiting for out turn for the defence, conversation came up and I repeated the same statement that he is a bad man man and I made statement like " that man chop our money wetin no good" after I made that statement I looked behind me and saw that he was standing just next to me. I was shocked and speechless and even had to run away because I didn't know how to react at that moment and that was when my sense cane back to me that I was being too unguided with how I use my thong.  Till date I still have some things I needed him to help me with but because of what I said, I I don't even know how to approach him anymore.

I know once the thought gets to the mind, it becomes very difficult not to utter it out but we should be very careful on what we say in the public because the walls truly have ears.
1035  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Lack of quality mindedness over flooding the board (forum) on: November 14, 2023, 06:51:25 AM
some person just want to contribute to the forum without the considerations of creative and quality  mindedness before exhibitions or expressions.

Abeg who no get something worthy of quality to post make him just relax and scroll through maybe searching for something interesting to read about after-all during exams if you no get anything to write again, u get submit ur white paper or write the one u know  & drop ur pen. Unless u want to lean on cheating and quite unfortunate no cheating on the platform here and looking at it sometimes we denies our aids of creativities but dancing to the tunes of refurbishes.
just so you know, what makes the forum what it his today is the regular threads we have on the different boards. It might not be of help to you, maybe because you already know about it but the fact that the forum is made up of experienced and inexperienced persons both in the bitcoin space and the secular society should give you the understanding that the kind of threads you will see in the forum won't be always of high quality. Some persons are not even from English speaking countries and so even when they have something reasonable to say, they might not necessarily put it out the right way and there message might not reflect much on what they intended creating.

I understand that some persons don't put in the needed effort to ensure that there threads are of high quality and might even go to the extent of copying out already published write-ups online just to post in the forum but I guess that's the whole essence of the merit system that is designed to reward those that are impacting and engaging in the forum positively and also encourage them to do more.

No be everybody go always get quality matter to yarn, some just want talk something make there mouth no too smell as dem don keep quiet for a long time so people go know say them de exist for the forum, allow them breath! No suffocate them my boss.
1036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins profits or bank profits, which best? on: November 14, 2023, 06:27:38 AM
Bank investors have more certainty because there capital is completely safe but they give 8-10% annual profits to the investors of per year. But it is comparatively less in terms of profits.

On the other hand you will get constant profits from crypto as if you are experienced in trading then daily profits is possible. Otherwise you can get profits by investing. However crypto investment puts your capital at greater risk (main point).
comparing investing money In banks to investing in crypto assets is almost a parallel analysis because the context and reason to invest in either of them varies and depends more on the motive for the investment.

If I intend starting up a business and I'm working on making savings up to a certain amount for my business, then investing or rather saving my money in the bank would be my preferred choice because of the least amount of risk involved. On the other hand, if I am looking at making a long term investment that I could afford to leave for a long time without being bothered about any imidiate returns in the short run, then choosing crypto would be my preferred choice. But in general my choice depends solely on the kind I funds I'm looking at in general.
1037  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Financial stability on: November 14, 2023, 06:14:41 AM
In this present age and time the most important thing is to be stable in finance...even the Bible says according to the christians that money answerth all things..come to think of it is there anything you can successfully carry out without the involvement of finance ? Absolutely nothing! So have come to a conclusion that one need to double up your hustle aside the normal government or private work ...add a trade ...learn hand work or something that will make you to be stable in your finances.
After your religious belief and your health, there is nothing compared to being financially stable. Even for you to be religious in the right sense, you need finance, for you to be healthy, you still need finance, that's how important it is to have money.

You know of the saying that almost everything has disadvantages, but I haven't seen any disadvantage of having money. Money gives you the confidence and boldness to be able to stand up tall and strong amid whatever challenges lives throw at society. If you have money, you will discover that majority of the challenges you are facing in life has been solved.

although getting money doesn't guarantee total happiness and fulfillment, it is a worthy recipe for living a good, healthy, and happy life.
1038  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Never say your recovery seed or private key out loud! on: November 14, 2023, 05:49:05 AM
So it is very important never to say your recovery seed out loud since you just can't figure out at this age, who's listening or watching you whilst you're alone in your bedroom with your gadgets. Don't mention your recovery seed in a phone conversation with a friend or family,  even when you're calling through end-to-end encrypted applications such as WhatsApp.

Well, I try as much as possible not to even have thought about telling anyone my private key because I doubt that it is necessary in the first place. If you have accumulated bitcoin already in your wallet, exposing your private key to the public is just like giving a literal key to an hidden box containing your wealth, there is a very high chance that your wealth would be stolen from you as a result of that carelesss.
The thing is that smart people are every where and just by making one or two statement, one can know much about you. You don't even need to do a long introduction about your self before someone gets to know who you are at this age. They can just look at the apps in your phone and within split seconds they know much about you, are calling out your private key could be very detrimental to you.
1039  Economy / Economics / Re: How billionaires are really affecting the economy. on: November 13, 2023, 06:29:02 PM
Firstly, let's know that it takes wealth to create more wealth and I am not surprised that millionaires are increasingly turning into a billionaire. I don't see anything wrong with that because if you are wealthy and have enough savings, you could easily invest in profiting businesses that will almost double your invested money within a couple of years thereby making you a multimillionaire and in some cases, I billionaire. This doesn't apply much to a poor or average salary earner who is just trying to get enough food to take care of his family, where will he see enough money to even have the thought of making any reasonable investment? And this is the reason why the rich continue getting richer while the poor continue ravishing in their poverty.

The only thing I find bad about these monopolistic millionaires is the way they treat their poor staff without taking into consideration their financial status. A situation where you've used your wealth to position yourself in almost all the sections of society but find it very difficult to pay your workforce a reasonable amount of money that is due them is one of the serious concerns I find about this millionaire who owns most of the big companies around. You will see a huge company that earns millions of dollars on a daily paying her workers a very unsubstantial amount of money because they feel that the poor masses don't have a choice and so they will frustrate them to see them as lord thereby making the demarcation between the rich and the poor to become extremely wide
1040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your parent disinherit you eventhough you have not proven to be chronic gambler on: November 13, 2023, 06:07:21 PM
Your parents are very rich and they have made a will while they are still alive Your parent is disinheriting you on the ground on one of the laws in our country about disinheritance that
Quote
When a child or descendant leads a dishonorable or disgraceful life;
because of gambling but they have not proven that you are a chronic gambler and you think you are a responsible gambler.

Do you have a case here on the ground that it is not proven that you are a chronic gambler and have not lost a fortune in gambling, can you appeal this case in court to make the will invalid and get your part in the inheritance?

Here in our country, you cannot disinherit your heirs as long as the heir does not violate what's stated in the law about inheritance and they just used the quoted message as their ground.

What's your take on this and what do your country's laws say about this?

some punishment are rather too strict to imagine that they are even true. Chronic or addictive gambling should not be a reason to deny your son his rightful inheritance.

As a parent, your duty is to try your best in ensuring that you curtail your  child's excesses while you are still alive and if you fail to do so, I don't think it's right to deprive him of his legitimate privilege as a way of publishing him. This act could even increase the child's addictive lifestyle as he might see himself as a total waste and might gamble all his funds away.

Gambling isn't all that addictive in the first place compared to drugs and addictive intake of alcohol. The best thee parent of such person should have done is to isolate the person from the environment that his coursing the increase in gambling for a while and maybe invite some specialist to talk some sense into him rather than passing a punishment on him that will make him at you for the rest if his life
