A PSA for everyone with S2's Please check to make sure the PCIe power cables are connected to the PSU nice and tight. I had 2 that weren't tight and it's caused some headaches.

how much does it cost to host something like that at a data center?

ALOT, but i believe he owns the place so  Grin

I don't own it, but I have good connections :-) PM me if you're looking for DC space, and I can introduce you to my connections :-D

Then we have

4.5TH     4.5TH     6TH

Just died a little!! Epic rig and good to see the new S2 Smiley How did you mount ? I take it you drilled holes or just stacked ?

Cheers

The S2's come rack mount ready, just attach the ears and boom. (Yup, they come with the ears too)

1l1l11ll1l,

Does the top S2 in the stack have a dead display?

Not dead, just dim.

Kinda bummed about my dead displays  Cry

Obviously check the ribbon cable, but you can also try the contrast dial on the back of the LCD, use a small screwdriver to adjust it, might just wake up your display. Let us know if that works?
1025  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 10:52:36 PM
Well if you underclock the left too you can get your density as the right for NO additional cost .....  just saying.

I would rather have numbers work because convenience aint going to pay you back in the end.  To each his own.....but I like your style if you can afford it
No he wouldn't. He might get the same W/GH but that would make the already worse GH/U even worse.

Footprint is irrelevant, only power usage. I pay $50/mo per rack + Power. So if I underclock the S1's and managed to get the same W/GH then they'd only cost me < $100/mo more than the S2's

Why did I choose S2 over more S1? Well, this is the main reason:

4.5TH                 4.5TH                 6TH

If anyone is wondering, I'm seeing 10A @ 208V for two S2 units on my PDU.

What PDU are you using?

Who wants to see the difference between the Bitmain BBB and the stock BBB?

Taken from an actual S2

Well, since the thread is back:

how loud is the S2?

It's definitely louder than 4 antminer S1's. I wouldn't want it in my office.

Well, since the thread is back:

Is the small dent on the top unit part of the story as to no rack ears?

Dent was there when it came out of the box. There were missing screws, so aside from not having screws for the rack ears, the threads on the machine are stripped, so couldn't borrow screws from other S2's to make the rack ears work.

Just need to fill the insides with packing peanuts!

Can someone with a known good unit grab an image of their SD card and post it up to download?

wow, I didn't even notice that it had an SD card in it. I'm used to the KNC units that store everything on the BBB's memory, no SD card needed. If no one else gets to it, I'll do it tomorrow
1037  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 02:06:30 AM
Yikes.  i have 3 arriving tomorrow.  So, is it just squeaky wheels who are posting slaughterhouse pictures of their s2's, or are almost ALL of them in some state of being smashed to bits upon arrival.

I don't have a sense for how many S2's were in batch 1, but i assume most people receiving them today also are at least readers of this thread.  So can some people who received their's in good, working order please post to put my mind at ease!

lets hear from some more people with working S2's!

who's got the most so far?  sure like to hear from someone with 10+.

not gonna sleep well tonight...

3 today, all of which would not power on out of the box, had to open it up and put it back together. 4 arrive tomorrow and 5 more when UPS decides that the value to weight ratio is okay. Sitting in China right now.

ssh login is root/admin

/etc/init.d/cgminer.sh is hardcoded to ping 192.168.1.1 for some reason.  I changed that to my gateway ip.

I tried entering a static IP to see if that made any difference, it didn't.  Changing the IP in cgminer.sh does get it hashing.

I was getting about 90% hashrate so I opened it up and realized one card wasn't hashing, tried reseating it and then switching it with another--the issue followed the port and not the card.  Finally, I reseated everything and it's all working.  The other issue I had was that the ethernet cable wasn't fully connected to the port inside.  Lots of random little issues!

Now I am also getting the hashing for a while then beeping.

Yup, same issues here, all 3 machines the controller was completely unseated, two had the ribbon cable pulled out, one had the ethernet disconnected. And one has a bad power supply.

So 1l1l11ll1l, you increase your hash rate by more than 50% with just 3 S2s?  Cheesy I dislike you greatly  Wink

4 are delayed Until tomorrow. Thanks UPS:

04/03/2014    4:50 A.M.    A UPS error has delayed delivery. We're updating plans and working to deliver your package as quickly as possible.
