LOL, system came out of hibernation and my secondary card was dead so I was like "Great" I have an excuse to upgrade to a decent miner (I sold all my dedicated gpu's 6 months ago) but on reboot it came back. LOL first time I was ever happy a card died and it really didn't! Cheesy

where can I find the online wallet for monero

mymonero.com  but see above. a user lost a lot there recently.
thanks for the information, it looks like I have to be careful to use the online wallet for monero, cheers

Interesting message at mymonero.co (the phishing site I guess?). Quoted below.

Quote
We know mymonero com was founded by /u/fluffyponyza, a good guy. And we know at least 4 people lost millions this year because they used that site. Look at this one. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/52sw9r/9830_xmr_stolen_from_my_mymonerocom_wallet_be/

fluffyponyza gave us some plausible explanations, but after reading all those comments, I strongly believe it's mymonero com itself keeps stealing people's money. Not so called "keyloger" "phisher" "microsoft"... ridiculous.

We have more information than ordinary people. For instance, we know 99.99% people hold less than 500 xmr on mymonero. So it's extremely abnormal if we consider the fact that nearly no victim in this kind of crime reported the loss of small amount. The example that fluffyponyza provided is belonging to us so it can't be take into account and we never got any account with balance of more than 600.

fluffyponyza told us there was a guy who bought data from DNM voluntarily warned them and blamed "botnet keylogger". No it's nearly not possible and I don't even understand why he said it seriously. It's a ridiculous joke. Let alone "those victims did not lose any other thing but xmr." The probability would be extremely low.

And we know myetherwallet has a similar business mode, and no user has lost 1 eth because of so called "keylogger dump".

Statistically, you can't swipe so many accounts with large amount unless you have at least 1 fifth of the whole database. The only possible reason is this GENUINE mymonero web wallet itself or who can access their database as many times as he wants steals customers' money.

Clearly, although We still believe Fluffypony is a good guy, it's obvious his friend is the thief behind those thefts. And I don't think Fluffypony knew nothing about this. And the more frustrating fact is that nearly every web wallet site, such as myetherwallet com, steals money from users account and claims to be "hacked" or "phished". We have many evidences. We sent emails to myetherwallet to urge them to return it to victims, and we will report to their local police office if nothing happens in proper time range.

Human beings can update source code if they want. And if your account has substantial xmr and that bad guy periodically check with viewkey manually, and one day the traffic from your ip will be redirected to a temporarily existed special version which only could be visited from specific ip --- your ip. It's easily be recorded through javascript even if you are cautious.

Again, as for me, fluffyponyza is good guy. But good guy always has bad intimate friend. BTW, you could help us resque the dogs

explorer I have a confession.  I sold <1% of my stash @0.0177 and rebought first @153 and then @170 as it was going up.  I ended up buying more in terms of both btc and XMR.  Fearless trader am I.  The last time I traded before that was just before the 0.9.0 release in Jan but for less substantial sums Grin

I have a little earmarked btc dust that I will turn into Monero before I go to my mountain house for a few days.

nioc SOLD a monero!  The last supporter breaks down!  Its all red from here, folks!

Your deception disappoints me greatly.   The staunch holder is nothing but a greedy day trading opportunist after all  Cheesy

Ut Ohh Smooth is gonna spank you for that! Tongue

How about this for "Soon" (an excerpt from The Gates Of Delirium)?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__E2MCi35ZA

Are you new to monero too? Soon is nothing new here. I still need to buy more, so not soon is better. Tongue

No, I'm not new to Monero, I've been around since pretty much the beginning in early 2014 and at one time was all in for about 16K Monero.  Unfortunately, when things came to a crawl last year I "diversified" my portfolio which was a huge mistake.  I've been watching, reading and learning a lot, I just rarely post.  Right now, I just really need for this to hit a new ATH again and help me move a little closer to retirement.

"Sometimes it's better to be quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!"
Yes he has. And your quote is spot on. Wink

10207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 01, 2016, 09:00:54 PM
A while back you told us we should be buying XMR for higher than now and today the noobs are supposed to sell lower than they initially bought in hope of reaching 0.0075...?
Don't worry i am not listening to him. The reality is that you don't know how much xmr will fall before the recovery but i am certain even the 0.026 bagholders will end up making a profit if they don't sell at loss. Buying more if the price falls is of course very dangerous and nothing i would recommend in general, but i have faith in XMR and refuse to play this stupid game on poloniex https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_fool_theory (the greater fool is the one selling it even cheaper in the future this time).

Also i am not buying now, i am waiting since predicting prices is very hard, looking at graphs and market deps only confuses you, just buy when the price is low.

Low is a relative term directly tied to a arbitrary point. How do you decide that point?

10208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: October 01, 2016, 08:35:59 PM
At least I hope honest response from a legend member. Do you think XMR will go back to 0.017 -0.018 soon ? What may be the price pf monero in this week and week after that ?

That was my point - Nobody can predict this. The market does what it does - Welcome to Monero. Grin

Again, hodl and profit later, or lose if you wish. Take your choice. Patience must be had with XMR. A LOT of patience! Cheesy

panic. the price in a tailspin

Indeed. I hope it goes lower, I want moar cheap coinz!! Cheesy

Me too, for anyone thats interested I'll be posting when I buy back in as that will be the new floor IMO. Smiley

It's tough being so patient but has saved me, FOMO would have cost. Cheesy

Just to point out that anyone that has listened to me has never lost a cent. Tongue

But anyone that did what you did has no XMR  Tongue

Another clear cut case of do as I say, not as I do   Cheesy

Not really, I stated the correct time to get back in ($1.37).

I just wasn't able to at the time.

Invested in XMR now, it's a shame i didn't do it earlier, i only got 190XMR for 11 million XDN. After doing some research it is clear that XMR will be the winning anoncoin, it might not have a lot of bells and whistles but that doesn't really matter.
What was your entry level ? I think price is still testing lower price everyday better to buy some at around 0.01BTC price range. Still waiting for my 0.01BTC buy orders to get filled  Grin

Why do you think it will reach 0.01 btc? And when do you think it will reach that point? a week a month?

I think that might be too low to hope for. I'm not convinced it will drop that low before the next big rise and I'd have substantial FOMO.

I've learned the way to not have FOMO is to understand that you already MO. Smiley

Hi there,
my sapphire rx 470 OC 4gb (ref) mines stable at 759h/s with modded bios (1500 timings and more) cc 1150 / 950mV - mc 2090 / 981mV
did not play with -h for now.

Impressive, whats the power performance compared to 480 and ndivia?

GPU-Z shows ~85W and I have 185W at the wall for the entire system (iddles at 80). As a comparison, mining ETH it uses 205-210W.

I think that beats nvidia. nice. Smiley

Why, are you trying to embarrass me?  Windows 10 Embarrassed

Unless you are going to game on it scrap that crap. https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php It's super user friendly. My dad switched to it no problem. I like xfce. Seriously you wont regret the switch.

Thanks, bookmarked.  Windows is needed for my poker programs although I'm spending very little  time on it nowadays.

You may be able to run those poker programs on Gnu/Linux with a program called "Wine". If you use Mint or Ubuntu, do a search for "Wine" in the Software Center. I use it for several Windows programs and they all work as well as they do in Windows, but in Linux.

There are far to many programs for win only, nix works fine as a live cd or in a VM, much better than wine's compatability. Still Waiting on ReactOS but I'm pretty sure our GUI will be here first! Cheesy

Y'know, I just shrank the blockchain by 50% in v0.10. I think we can afford to splurge a bit here.

What method did you use? BTW Great job! Smiley

Much of it was a redesign of one of the larger, heavily used indices. The idea was warptangent's. I dug thru IRC logs after he passed away, to piece together what he was talking about, and wrote the code. The other part of it was just making more use of LMDB's special features, to store/retrieve the data more efficiently. This is a bit of LMDB "special sauce" that other DB engines (like LevelDB, RocksDB, etc.) lack.

Y'know, I just shrank the blockchain by 50% in v0.10. I think we can afford to splurge a bit here.

I was just saying to my wife. I don't think I have ever seen a blockchain shrink since I've been involved in crypto. It's like this thing everyone always talks about but no one ever sees. It's a unicorn and here it is in monero, re-affirming why I am so heavily invested in this amazing project. You sir are a legend.

I would say thats because people spread false info like "It can't be done".

Most people have no idea how much bloat they're dealing with every day. They have no idea how fast their computers actually are, or would be if they were running properly written software. (Come on, a 4GHz CPU, potentially running over *1 billion* instructions per second, and yet it's slogging along like it's made of molasses? That's what the world is used to, but it takes s#it-tons of bad software to make things so slow. When you cut away all the cruft, things can really fly.) And, on the other hand, I've made a career out of coding on the hairy edge between "possible" and "impossible." E.g. https://www.facebook.com/notes/howard-chu/my-space-shuttle-story-for-catherine/109922698035

I hear yah! I've been stripping Os's down forever. It's great to hear Warptangent is still contributing!!! That man is my Hero. Smiley

Can you link me to the method you used on the index.

Just for fun - hardfork countdown contest - try to send a transaction that lands in the hardfork block, win a prize.

Cute but other people have to store those transactions for all eternity.

Sorry guys, I'm not sure why I felt so deeply about this. I'm not even invested it doesn't even effect me. It's just that I spent alot of hours trying to vet that and felt I was roadblocked and now it has come to pass. Whatever. I hope no-one lost money because of this.

I did go out and calmed down sorry for the rough language smoothie. I just took a pain pill and the news hit me in the wrong way.

Its all good man.  Smiley

Thanks man.

Can someone explain whether anything is wrong with hardfork!
Is it successful or not? Undecided

The easiest way to tell is to see if the exchanges stop trading. Lol

On the lighter side I bought a new comp.  It's an interim comp good enough so it won't crap out anytime soon but bad enough that I will still keep dreaming.

Thanks to all that gave advice Smiley

Link it.

Why, are you trying to embarrass me?  Windows 10 Embarrassed  The link to the store I bought it from isn't working so here is Dell's
http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-3650-desktop/pd?oc=fddclot201b&model_id=inspiron-3650-desktop
i5, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD

I just needed something quick.  I think I will replace the HDD in the old machine with a SSD and turn it into a Monero only linux machine.  That will be a big deal for me but I have an idea on how to make it easy.  Something about bananas.

I have no idea how long to sync the 0.10 blockchain because even though I choose the setting that my comp does not go to sleep, it went to sleep while I was sleeping. Tongue  It is now continuing to sync.

LOL, I'd never try to embarrass you buddy. Win10. Bummer Sad there are programs to remove all the spyware, well the parts that are known). For some reason I thought you were looking for a laptop.

Not sure how safe this site is but I could send you a good copy of 7 if you need.

I just want to reflect to all that I see a community here that cares.  Even if we get heated sometimes people care enough to post concerns whether it be the RPC thing or other issues effecting Monero.

To me the passion some of us show means we care.  So to this I think I'm going to have a good old Kentucky Bourbon and celebrate where Monero has come since I started following in July of 2014.

 Cool
