10261  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: It takes looooong time to sign tx. Electrum with Ledger Nano S on: May 02, 2019, 08:37:50 AM
Since when is this the case ?

Unfortunately i am not at home currently, so can't test it. Did it happen after an update for something ? Or did it randomly occur ?
I will definitely test signing a transaction via nano s + electrum when at home and report the result here.
This has been happening for a couple of months. I’m not sure what caused it, but I already accepted the delay and have been using the Ledger + Electrum for some time (the Ledger Live doesn’t have a ‘send max’ button).

I’ll probably end up reinstalling my OS when I have the time.
10262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDT how can we withdraw it in our wallet. on: May 02, 2019, 08:30:50 AM
Yes. If you’re withdrawing the USDT ERC20 token, you’ll need to withdraw it to an ETH wallet that supports ERC20 tokens (e.g: MEW).

If you’re withdrawing the OMNI token (working on BTC’s chain), you’ll need to use a supported wallet, like the Omni wallet: https://www.omniwallet.org/
10263  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: It takes looooong time to sign tx. Electrum with Ledger Nano S on: May 02, 2019, 08:28:25 AM
Does it finally show up on your Ledger after you wait a few minutes?

Mine does the same for some reason. I click Send/Sign and nothing happens for 3~5 minute. Then, suddenly, it shows in my Nano S. I confirm the tx on it and then need to wait another ~3 minutes to have the tx broadcasted.

This only happens when using Electrum. On the Ledger Live, everything works fast.
10264  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum pending on: May 01, 2019, 10:00:13 PM
Is the transaction confirmed in a blockchain explorer?
Try searching for it here: https://www.blockchain.com/explorer

Have you tried changing the server manually?

To do this: Tools -> Network -> Server -> Uncheck "Select server automatically" -> Right-click a different server -> "Use as server";
10265  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Sytem Must Be Removed on: May 01, 2019, 09:17:16 PM
In this world, you cannot trust anyone even Satoshi. Because he created bitcoin. Why? Because we need trustless systems. Why? Because no one is trusted
What does this have to do with anything?

People trust whoever they want to trust.
10266  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Sytem Must Be Removed on: May 01, 2019, 09:11:22 PM
Trust system is nothing. I am here for 5 years. You can give negative trust one of a scammer then he creates a new account and scam anyone. Easy. Trust system is just for trusted members gang
Except that most people don't trust a just recently registered user. They may trust a Sr. Member/Legendary, however.

That's why neg trusting him (in case it's needed) is important. Bam, now he needs 775+ activity and 1000 merits in his new account to get as many "reputation" as he had.
10267  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Blockchain 12 seed to ELECTRUM [BACKUP] on: May 01, 2019, 07:29:29 PM
This article is from 2015 - from when Blockchain was at least 2 major versions older. There is no way to do that now.

OP: The derivation path is m/44'/0'/0' (with the single quotes). Try again and make sure "legacy (p2pkh)" is selected before you put the derivation path in the text box.

You would probably end up seeing the thread on private mode to read his post. Smiley
10269  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S usability questions on: May 01, 2019, 05:37:07 PM
- Are my Coins still safe and are straight away viewable when seeing balances when connecting or have they been affected in anyway by Forks or Coin Swaps that I have missed out on?
Nothing really changed for the major coins. I can't say the same thing for the others because I don't hold nor follow them, so I don't know about any fork or coin swaps.

- How can I be sure for safety once I connect my ledger to my computer making it hot (connect to internet & computer electricity) from a long period of cold?
Just make sure you are using the latest version of the wallet you choose (e.g Ledger Live) and update your Ledger firmware as soon as possible.

- Will not using the ledger hardware for long periods of time degrades the hardware components inside similar to a battery?
Idk. But as long as you have your seed, everything will be alright regardless of what happens with your Nano S.

- Does Ledger still use the Chrome apps for its software? If not is it safe to delete those chrome apps?
The Chrome apps are outdated and deprecated. AFAIK you can still use them, but it's not recommended.[/b]
They released their new desktop wallet called Ledger Live. See: https://shop.ledger.com/pages/ledger-live

- Can I use the old firmware ledger to connect with the new ledger live independent executable software or am I limited to the chrome app 1st if ledger still support chrome app add ons.
Probably. But it's not recommended to keep using an old firmware or the Chrome apps. Try using the Ledger Live; then update your firmware as soon as possible and keep using it.

- At what stages do I require to re-enter my 24 recovery seed? What advice is given if a user is not sure on his/her 24 recovery seed?
Only if anything happens when updating the firmware. But why are you not sure of your recovery seed? That's the main thing you should secure.
You could download the Recovery Check app on your Ledger - which will let you test your seed directly from the device and see if it's right.

- I understand ledger supports more than 1100 different coins however what does it mean if a coin doesn't have ledger live support?
Then you will have to use your Ledger with the wallet that supports it.
E.g: NEO isn't fully integrated to the Ledger Live, so you have to use it with the NEON wallet.

Also can I choose which of the 1100 types of altcoins I can view on the leger screen?
Yes. You only install the coins you want.

- Will the new ledger live software or new firmware reset anything from my old settings and if so what are resetted? Pins? Viewable currency settings etc?
No. Only if there is any issue while updating it. See here for more info: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002731113

- I remember on Chrome App it allowed to choose which chain for a coin. Does the new live ledger software still have this?
Now there is an app for the BTC and one for the BCH fork.

- Lastly what are the new features in the latest hardware firmware and does updating to new firmware delete and resets everything and requires 24 recovery seed?
Normally it doesn't reset. Again, see the link above for more info.
10270  Other / Meta / Re: Post deletation without notice? on: May 01, 2019, 04:34:55 PM
It is not always a moderator, people sometimes delete their own threads and since the thread isn't yours, and it wasn't deleted by a moderator, you get no notifications for it.
Only mods can delete threads.

We can only delete posts.
10271  Other / Meta / Re: Post deletation without notice? on: May 01, 2019, 04:29:22 PM
You only get a notification when your own threads/posts get deleted.

What probably happened is that a thread where you posted was deleted (thus, your post vanished as well). In this case, there is no notification.

For example: If this thread of yours got deleted, you would receive a PM notifying it. But this post of mine (that I'm writing right now), would get deleted in the process, and I wouldn't be notified.
10272  Other / Meta / Re: Can someone help me with a seclog question? on: May 01, 2019, 04:23:26 PM
I'm not sure if that's all correct, but:

Simply you can check on seclog; https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php , you can see same below quote.
Quote
manual recovery, previously-queued ownership change completed
Means they have recovered account successfully. Seems recovery system working fine now if someone able to provide valid information. If you have staked address and control original email then it's very easy to recover your account.
According to users who succeeded to recover their accounts, two fundamental elements needed to start the manual recovery process:
- Signed message from a staked btc address (not altcoin) in an unedited post.
- Full control over the original email used for account registration (may be more important than the signed message) .

The new system seems to be smoothly running without problems. Thanks Admin Smiley

I made a thread to record all the data entries in SecLog about manual recovery of lost/hacked accounts: All the Ownership-Changed and Restored accounts

67 accounts have been manually recovered for the last two months (+2 recovered late in December 2018) . Scroll to the first comment of the thread to see reports sorted by month basis.
Report for January
Report for February

Looks like he may have gone through the new recovery system (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0) and an admin/mod recovered his account.
10273  Local / Economia & Mercado / Re: Quantum - Arbitragem Automatizada - ATENÇÃO, LEIA TUDO ANTES DE INVESTIR on: May 01, 2019, 03:58:10 PM
Alguma novidade?

10274  Other / Off-topic / Re: Virustotal shows threat in Github App for Windows! on: May 01, 2019, 03:48:53 PM
Is that official Github Desktop application?  I thought Github only have 64bit desktop application while yours is 32bit.
Who said this is for 32 bit?

Quote
You probably got the 32bit from another source which is explains the virus?
Did you see the link on the OP? How would that be a virus?

Actually, did you even read the thread? I already explained that this is a false-positive.
10275  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How popular cryptocurrency wallets completely expose your private keys on: May 01, 2019, 01:47:47 PM
That was Exodus' answer to the video: Addressing Vulnerabilities with Software-Based Wallets

Basically, they didn't think this is a major issue and that "Exodus is only as secure as the computer it is running on" (thus, it's your job to keep your wallet secure). AFAIK, they didn't change anything after the video.
10276  Other / Meta / Re: What a website. Is this a joke on: May 01, 2019, 12:34:53 PM
Lock the thread, OP. There is no point in keeping a discussion here.

It’s a fact that the old recovery system was bad and usually it took months to get an account restored. But now you know about the new one (that works), so check it out and you will get your account back. Good luck!
10277  Other / Meta / Re: What a website. Is this a joke on: May 01, 2019, 11:06:02 AM
Are you talking about BitcoinTalk?

Hacked accounts are constantly being recovered. This is the new recovery procedure:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0

Check the seclog page: https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php

Every time you see “manual recovery, previously-queued ownership change completed”, it’s an account being recovered.
10278  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BT membership status on: May 01, 2019, 12:54:08 AM
Which rank were you before?

My guess is that some of your posts got deleted right before the implementation of the merit system; you got deranked and didn’t get any airdropped merit because of that. Now, you need the merits to rank up again.
10279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Lied to You, and is basically worthless on: April 30, 2019, 08:52:19 PM
WE have been using USDT for a long time, surprising as it is. Somehow it helped a lot of traders back then, I hedge my coins thru it. So which stablecoin are we going to trust now?  Didn't some users send their Tether to their MEw wallet? I have read some threads about this.
There is a USDT ERC20 token which can be stored on MEW. So nothing wrong with that.

About which stable coin to use, there are other coins (more trusted) which you can use. E.g: TUSD, USDC or DAI (decentralized).

Take a look at this: https://medium.com/ethex-market/which-stable-coin-is-best-for-you-2167d0d9f520
10280  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin is stuck in my Electrum wallet and unavailable to me on: April 30, 2019, 08:15:27 PM
Well, found the issue.

Versions older than 3.3 don’t synchronize anymore. Go to ELECTRUM.ORG and update it to the latest version.

Not only this, but older versions are also vulnerable to several issues (including a exploit that shows fake update messages when you try to send a tx while connected to a malicious served).

REMEMBER: electrum.org is the ONLY website you should trust to download Electrum. Always double check the URL.
