10363  Other / Meta / Re: Revamping the rank system. Again on: October 07, 2016, 06:24:46 PM
Pardon me if I haven't understood OP's idea clearly but wouldn't it be unfair for the people who waited this long to become a hero member, only to realize that it is going to take much more longer to achieve something which was achieved by the others in a short span of time compared to them.
There is never going to be a solution to this that is "fair" for everyone. Users should not really care that much about having to wait a while longer for a particular rank, and if they are, it is likely for the wrong reasons (e.g. higher tier in signature campaigns). One could make it so that the gradual increase takes longer(e.g. which would make it like a 'transitional period'), ergo it would be a period in which the activity growth still outpaces the increase in activity required per rank. However, this would only mildly help those cases.
10364  Other / Meta / Re: Revamping the rank system. Again on: October 07, 2016, 06:00:52 PM
we have a lot of full/senior members tho +/- hero.
Nobody claimed otherwise; this sentence is redundant.

after implementation of this doubling idea we will have many legendary members but no one will care anymore since we will have a rare one just after it (mystical or whatever...) and so on Smiley
So what's the point of having such 'uniquely' named ranks when you end up with a lot of people wearing them? OP's idea is a good choice IMO.
10365  Other / Meta / Re: name change on: October 07, 2016, 04:02:29 PM
Lol, $6,000 for a name change.   Grin
The fiat equivalent is not important (10 BTC was always and will always be 10 BTC), and it isn't $6k for a name change but for the Donator rank. VIP costs 50 Bitcoin.

For the record I already saw a couple of name change request granted by theymos lately.
There have only ever been a few granted. Letting just anyone change their name is a bad idea.
10366  Other / Meta / Re: name change on: October 07, 2016, 01:35:23 PM
You have two options:
1) Donate 10 Bitcoin to become a Donator. Check out the donate page.
2) Request a name change to theymos. Keep in mind that these requests are very rarely accepted. You'd probably have to be someone very trusted and/or useful for the forum (e.g. high number of reported posts) in addition to having a good reason for the change.

10368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over traditional payment systems on: October 07, 2016, 01:29:18 PM
1. It is anonymous
No. Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous.

2. Faster and cheaper
Correct.

3. It is deflatory
It's called "deflationary", and listing this as an advantage may result in heavy debate from some.

4. No/Low transaction cost
Zero free transactions are mostly a thing of the past, so that "no" isn't correct anymore.

5. It is divisible to 1billionth part
Not sure how this is an advantage. You could just as easily introduce smaller units for any currency if they're needed.
10369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over traditional payment systems on: October 07, 2016, 11:40:44 AM
network congestion leading to huge confirmation times
This only happens if you don't know what you're doing.

and lack of scalability are the main disadvantages.
Decentralized systems tend to be less scalable as we've observed.

Also, I don't think it's fair to compare Bitcoin with a payment system as bitcoin is not suited to be used for shopping, specially online shopping.
Is this a bad joke? Bitcoin is optimal for online shopping.

EG go to india and tell them its "low fee". and then give them just enough bitcoin for an hours labour and see it evaporate in the fees alone.
Nice relative privation.
10370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over traditional payment systems on: October 07, 2016, 09:41:25 AM
I guess this is latest news - I think I am talking in general.
So, once in 20xx, you'll look back to 2013 and say Bitcoin is volatile?  Roll Eyes

I think this is a disadvantage since the chain is programmed like that. Modification needs to be done in this regard in the blockchain technology itself.
But thats just my thought
You're wrong. That's where the intrinsic value of a blockchain stems from; without immutability Bitcoin would likely be worthless (or near this).

You forgot to quote the rest of the post -
Quote
this is not a disadvantage but a bad name to the coin
My bad, it cut of for some reason. You shouldn't list it as a disadvantage anyways. Also, please learn how to properly respond to parts of a post (the way you did it is very wrong).
10371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over traditional payment systems on: October 07, 2016, 09:32:09 AM
1. Volatility of price of bitcoin is there which makes it a prime target for traders. bad news for stores/shops
Very volatile indeed.  Roll Eyes

5. Irreversibility of transaction - though I consider it as the least because it is a fault of the user to mis-click and not system. However we are all human and we tend to make mistakes.
That's a feature of a immutable chain, not a disadvantage.

6. Some people consider bitcoin = hackers, drugs etc since we all know about ransom-ware, and many people came to know about bitcoin from ransom-ware, Silk route incident etc
This is not a disadvantage of Bitcoin; it's just a misconception.
10372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over traditional payment systems on: October 07, 2016, 09:26:50 AM
You also should include the disadvantages, it doesn't seem honest just to show the good stuff, you should give a complete picture.
Such as?

Well paying people using bitcoin is easier and more convenient way, we dont need to carry the money around so it's safer
That does not make it safer at all. Regardless of whether or not you're carrying cash, someone at gunpoint can attempt to force you to move your Bitcoin (no, don't tell me you're not carrying anything on you, because the argument is moot then).

and we can make bitcoin address easier than opening account, so it should make people easier to do transaction
While the latter correlates with the first, it does not cause it.
10373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of Bitcoin over traditional payment systems on: October 07, 2016, 08:29:16 AM
You should definitely mention speed. On average, a transaction will confirm in 10 minutes. Compare that to international bank transaction time. Also, you should expand on "low fees", as in the fee for sending $10 and $10 Million would be the same (assuming they have the same TX size).
10374  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] 1oz .999 FINE SILVER "BITCOIN" ROUNDS on: October 07, 2016, 06:19:25 AM
The design seems to be good enough, and I did notice this in the other thread a few days ago actually. So when is this supposed to be released?

They will be standard 39mm coins, and will not come in airtites when sold by the roll.
You won't add a airtite to each coin? Why?

I wasn't really expecting another Penny in 2016. These do certainly look interesting.

Og, that's an interesting question. Surely we don't hold the title for smallest physical bitcoin wallet...or do we? Huh
Well, if it isn't the smallest Bitcoin wallet, then you just got another idea for a partial batch in 2017.

Alternatively, a better way is to report a lot of posts with a decent accuracy and be an active member of the community and maybe the admins will ask you eventually if they think you would be beneficial but I wouldn't hold your breath for that any time soon.
This. Start by becoming one of the top 'reporters'. Note: This isn't easy if you plan on doing it right (high accuracy, no duplicate reports).

should i removed this post?
Just lock it.
