Postponing the tournament by two years is not possible. If they do that, then the ICC may suffer a lot of financial damage. On average, ICC conducts one major tournament per year, and most of their revenues come from these tournaments. In the end, the annual contribution for various national boards may take a hit and the nations outside the big 3 will get impacted. It all depends on the availability of the vaccine to cure this dreadful disease. Practically it is not possible to again reschedule the tournament again in next if the virus is still a five in 2021. I think they should wait and watch the situation. They cannot come into any conclusion within few months. If the coronavirus epidemic will not subside quickly, most provably ICC will change their schedule, but till now they don't want to change the schedule. You know, most of the ICC-Money is earned through this tournament, so postponing the tournament means their financial loss. That's why ICC will wait until the last moment. If they could, they wouldn't change the schedule of the tournament. so, they will have to wait some more time to reach the conclusion. You cannot stop the inevitable, financial loss is now in every sector so if they try also they cannot organize this tournament. Untill a permanent solution is out. Already few countries have initiated the trial for a vaccine but that trial also takes a minimal six month to one year time. So most probably a cure vaccine will be available by next year or end of this year. Untill then sports tournaments will be on hold. This look like this virus is to stay for a long term. Even the change in the weather (summer season) is not helping much and the cases are increasing everyday. I think the medical scientist are not fully aware of the symptoms of this covid19, how can they develop a vaccines for it so quickly. ICC plans wont work until this problem is fully resolved. |

Yeah ICC and all members had a meeting today and they are looking at 3 possible scenerio..
1. Follow same schedule for t-20 world cup.
2. If not then next window is Feb - March 2021 ( in that case ipl will take Oct 2020 slot) -- which you mentioned-
3. Last option reschedule WC in 2022.
3rd option seems like the best one in my opinion. As I mentioned earlier, 2020 and 2021 are marked by COVID which is why 2022 seems like the ideal time to host the tournament with a crowd watching which is mutually beneficial for everyone. All sporting event schedules have been disrupted in a major way which is why ICC needs to adapt appropriately to the situation (Doubtful). Only option No. 3 looks feasible at the moment.
Hopefully most of ICC members will agree on Option 3
I hate to say but It seems to me that every cricket board favoring 2nd option as it fulfills big players's interest; such as ICC, CA and BCCI (If IPL happens, if not then they are loser too). Rest of the cricket boards doesn't have much choice because if by any chance T-20 world cup gets cancelled then small boards can face some serious financial challenges, in one word Bankruptcy... Let's wait and watch if COVID-19 ruins their plans or not. The news from the centre is With India in lockdown, IPL 2020 suspended till further noticeThis was expected and this is now official. Okay, just now visited the official announcement and highly no chance of playing this year based of cricbuzz statement.And I don't think they will host matches on statiums which are mentioned by other members because they may not get enough audicence to watch and also we don't know that we will control corona in that real soon. Yeah it has been indefinitely postponed. I do not see any possibility of this season happening this year. India Government has already extended the lockdown till May and after May there will be restriction to gathering and organising events. So, forget IPL this year. All the sports events are getting postponed for this year including the Olympics and Euro. We may remember 2020 as a No Sporting Year where no major sports event took place. |

Most import questions is, if they run with fund in near future who will be responsible since they were accused previously for fake team and you are the one who promoting them on the forum?
I think Yahoo is correct and clear in his stance that if the team has decided to work in a fair manner, encourage them and let them have a breathing space. Yes Easter will not be celebrated in COVID-19 because of the virus, everything has been locked down because no one can get out and no one will be able to observe it if all the religious schools are closed. But if the situation gets under control then that is possible. You can observe the Easter at home too. In pandemic situation, it is better to stay at home in the religious events and avoid the gathering. You can save your life and others life by just staying at home. |
