1042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet troubles on: June 02, 2011, 01:23:01 PM
open your port 8333, so you'll get more connections.

Port 8333 is open for tcp traffic.
My wallet worked fine for several months but a few days ago windows (W7x64) gave me a bluescreen and after a reboot my wallet balance was 0.

I deleted all files in the wallet data dir except for wallet.dat and restarted with -rescan.

Now I'm stuck at blockchain 114849 for 3 days.

Ideas anyone ?

Delete the blockchain and redownload it, should work then. If not move the wallet.dat to a different computer and try.

1045  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: listed average speeds on Deepbit... on: June 02, 2011, 12:53:13 PM
It's the average amount of shares you solve per block.

speed = shares / total_shares  or something like that

1048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Downloaded Bitcoin To Debian Squeeze: "sudo: bitcoind: command not found" on: June 02, 2011, 12:41:55 PM
So I have downloaded the compressed bitcoin linux file from bitcoin.org

I can navigate to bin/64/ and open bitcoin to see the graphical interface. I get quite a few connections and my block count rises quickly.

When I enter my terminal however and navigate to the same folder. Entering $bitcoin or $bitcoind or $bitcoind -server returns: bash: bitcoin: command not found

What do you think the problem is?

1. ./bitcoind - this directory is not in your $PATH. Or copy bitcoin and bitcoind to /usr/local/bin/.
2. you don't need to be root to run bitcoin, so leave off the sudo.

the whole "./" makes $PATH irrelevant.
"./" = current directory.
1049  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What happened to blockexplorer.com ? on: June 02, 2011, 12:06:39 PM
I can't reach the site from multiple addresses. Does anyone know what's the problem?

Gone poof!

How does the international shipping work, do you offer full shipping tracking and which shipping service do you use ?

He's using a site like dealextreme, and just ordering them, and putting in your shipping address, they usually come from china, but most of the parts are well made. They don't offer tracking (or very limited) as it can take a while to get there.

Pretty much - though on larger orders there is a tracking system automatically added - I am not sure what the price range cutoff is, but in the case of yesterdays MicroSD card that was also going for 2.00 BTC, those orders did include tracked Air Service. Oddly, it seems that yesterdays orders are in status packaging, while other sales even from day 1 aren't in that stage yet Sad

Reaching out to them now and will update everyone's orders today with a note on the status...

Yeah, that's happened to me before as well, they said it depends how backlogged they are, and whether they have them in stock or are waiting for their supplier.

Well - I am working with my other supplier now to figure out how to handle worldwide shipping... it would be US based so I have some logistics to work out - but got my credit approved, and now just trying to make that happen. The DX route made sense for now (and occasionally may still make sense) but this will have better deals on higher end products (as an example, I have compared the prices on products woot.com has offered with those from my supplier, and there is room to undercut woot while still making a slight profit).

Oh alright sweet.

/offtopic I now have 2 bitcoins. I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad...

1052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction appears in the blockchain explorer, but I haven't received the BTC on: June 02, 2011, 10:47:53 AM
I recently made an offer to trade USD for BTC via Paypal. (Thread: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=11150.0)

I got a taker for 2 BTC, and the buyer sent them to the address in my signature (13gDRynPfLH3NNAz3nVyU3k3mYVcfeiQuF). I opened the (default) Bitcoin client and didn't see the transaction. My balance had not increased. So I went to the blockchain explorer, searched for my address, and found this:

http://blockexplorer.com/address/13gDRynPfLH3NNAz3nVyU3k3mYVcfeiQuF

According to this, my address received the 2 BTC. So I waited, restarted the client, waited some more, restarted again, etc. Still nothing. I'm on Ubuntu (Maverick Meerkat) and am using Bitcoin version 0.3.20.2N BETA. I thought that maybe I should download the newer version, so I did, but when I tried to run the executable (with GUI) I just got an error message, so I deleted the newer version.

My client does not appear to be downloading the block chain: it says 125600 blocks and no connections, and I'm fairly sure that it said that when I first checked to see if I'd received the BTC.

We're at ~12800, that's why. You havn't received the new blocks with your transactions in them.

1054  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: phatk vs. poclbm effective hash rate on: June 02, 2011, 10:43:02 AM
Like many others that have experimented I see an increase of about 5-10% in my reported hash rate when moving from poclbm to phatk.

On my 5770s running 935/1500

poclbm: 199 Mh/s 2011.beta4
phoenix with phatk: 207 Mh/s v1.48

I however noticed the reverse with my stats on deepbit:

poclbm: <400 Mh/s (varies lightly based on luck but always stays above 400 Mh/s)
phatk: ~375 Mh/s

To help account for variations I have deepbit average over 60 minutes and I've taken multiple samples to help account for the fact that deepbit will shift some depending on how fast a given set of shares are solved. The following questions come to mind:

1. Are the client values accurate with regard to Mh/s?
2. Is poclbm more efficient at managing the work queue and fetching/submitting shares?
3. Other factors?

I haven't done it yet but #1 should be able to be verified fairly quickly, in fact I assume if it were a problem it would have already been caught.

Your stats on deepbit are the average shares you've submitted over the last 60 minutes. So if you have good luck, it will show you a higher mh/s, but luck, lower mh/s. I'd stick with phoenix.
