1041  Economy / Economics / Re: Facebook accepts Bitcoin? on: May 09, 2014, 09:33:08 PM
With BTC it will never happen.

FB would more likely create their own coin and sell and accept it.

Thats what I would do if I were greedy  Grin

They already using facebooks problem with facebooks in only used in the facebook network,  they are clearly losing out if they dont accept bitcoin for there advertising stream.

1043  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: May 09, 2014, 02:33:55 PM
Worst decision was not to buy more coins in early stage. I did buy some but it didn't make me a millionaire.
The same here ,i was so idiot and skeptic and I bought only 2 bitcoin when the price was about $15...and when the price was $1000 I rushed in and buy 4 bitcoin.....worst decision ever.
1044  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LocalBitcoins Hacked! Another MtGox in the Making? on: May 09, 2014, 02:31:10 PM
I wonder if this the same hosting provider as the one involved in the Poloniex attack?
My first thought as well, also wonder if it's the same grouped that hacked Poloniex as well. Could just be a copy cat attempt after it was shown how vulnerable hosting providers can be.

1046  Economy / Economics / Re: Health Plan Premiums Are Skyrocketing According To New Survey on: May 09, 2014, 02:17:09 PM
What trend do you guys see coming down the pipe the next few years?
The way employees buy insurance is going to change as is the way employers subsidize it. There was a good article in Barron's the week before last about the big consultants (AON, Mercer etc) ramping up the defined contribution private exchange model. That will, in theory, give employees access to a choice of more than one carrier and plan; but this model will probably impact employee costs more than the increases in the premium trends...
The same way pensions moved from the defined benefit model to the defined contribution/401k model.
I think we will see less and less mid-level companies offering insurance (or only offering it to higher-level jobs) over the next 5+ years as all this is ramping up so there will be more people enrolled to fund the ACA. Even with the penalties being leveraged to change healthcare insurance from a perk to a "right" I think a lot of employers will go the low-road. That and continually lowering hours for those same mid to low level employees.
1047  Economy / Economics / Re: Health Plan Premiums Are Skyrocketing According To New Survey on: May 08, 2014, 10:52:42 PM
I always wonder what the basis is when they say "premiums are rising" because there are about 11ty billion things that one could call premium all changing at the same time, so that kind of blanket statement always makes me curious and some of the things that come to mind for example are filed rates, group risk premiums, non risk premiums, individual premiums, some amalgamation of those? Its just a very nebulous statement that really tells you nothing...but that's probably the point.

While probably true it does not make the report untrue. Insurance and price is all about risk. Since you can't segment high risk members into higher-priced policies due to ACA the agencies have to increase rates to ensure they don't lose their shirts.

At what point are we doing more good than bad from a monetary perspective?
1048  Economy / Economics / Re: Health Plan Premiums Are Skyrocketing According To New Survey on: May 08, 2014, 10:06:24 PM
"Health Plan Premiums Are Skyrocketing According To New Survey Of 148 Insurance Brokers, With Delaware Up 100%, California 53%, Florida 37%, Pennsylvania 28%"

Not going to paste the whole article, read it yourself. Is this all because of the money-grubbing insurance companies and their profits, ACA, something entirely different (Bush/GOP?)?

Will more people now be transitioned to Medicaid than was expected or are the multitudes of "youth" who are mandated to carry insurance going to be able to carry the full load once all increases have equaled out? Is this all intentional as a means to single-payer?

Should we ever expect either "side" of the government to tackle the cost of healthcare and medicine instead of the insurance side of it?

Has anyone produced an analysis which shows at what point the benefit (I guess to society as a whole) of ACA will surpass the higher cost of insurance to those who pay?

article herehttp://www.forbes.com/sites/scottgottlieb/2014/04/07/health-plan-premiums-are-skyrocketing-according-to-new-survey-of-148-insurance-brokers-analysts-blame-obamacare/
insurance companies don't make a really high profit. health care in the US is expensive as fuck. Add in the extra BS the ACA requires for every plan and then you get a very large jump in costs
1049  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: May 08, 2014, 10:05:00 PM
invested 50 bitcoins in a investment with the wrong guy, told me he would make me money with day trading lost 7 bitcoins doing that.
1050  Other / Politics & Society / Re: our USA education system sucks and is obsolete on: May 06, 2014, 11:49:54 PM
This guy is brilliant, I haven't seen his videos for awhile, the thing is though, speaking as somebody who is studying Art and Jewellery, if you're purely after a job you won't necessarily be able to do well, especially if you go for a degree precisely because of what he's talking about. That said, I think Education is getting so bad now all you're going to have to do to get a masters degree is write several essays on whatever subject you pick ( no matter how vocational the subject is ) and this will mean that no young people will have the skills to produce and make things in their respective countries anymore.

I'm also glad to see that I'm not alone in my suspicions about ADHD, I think it's not only a case of the system itself being at fault, I'm convinced going back on my own education that teachers use ADHD or mental illness as an excuse to cover up how badly they teach. In a couple of my previous schools I ended up in those kind of catchup/'special' classes etc. ( Yes, feel free to laugh ) where they were pretty much assuming because I wasn't doing all the work and had trouble with basic mathematics I must have something wrong with me, but really all it was was that there were massive gaps in my education like being unable to do percentages or take tests because nobody had simply taken the time to explain it all to me.

Western education is a piece of shit, so it's no surprise seeing the data come out finally proving it later on.

Its not only the teachers fault but is also the parents fault for not fighting against a false system.  when I was 14 years old I was placed in a resouce room just because I coudnt grasp as fast as others can.  The real truth about me bieng placed in there is cause I couldnt see the black board so I would have to squint but still coulndt make out what the teacher was explaining on the board and instead of the teachers seeing that and getting me to see a doctor, they instead thought I was a slow learner, then I was in resource room which only made things worst for me because I felt like a dumb outcast.
Everything I needed know about life, society and inculcation I learned in kindergarten.

We edify to an educational standard, not to an employment standard. If we inculcated to an employment standard, handled properly, most people would not require to progress past the 8th grade, let alone high school or college, because the prodigious majority of jobs available in our society do not require advanced education, but on the job training.

Why do we keep wasting our money and the money of most families on having students procure a college degree with which they will be ineffective? Other than exposing our children to more socialism and feelings of entitlement or guilt?

1052  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mobile phones you ever used on: May 06, 2014, 05:47:03 PM
Does anyone remember back when Motorola made the best damned phones on the planet, back before they suddenly started to suck a couple of years ago? I feel like now you basically have to get a Samsung if you're not an appletard, there's no selection. Don't even try to tell me that whatever new version of the razor Motorola is currently pushing isn't a stupid piece of crap.

I thought in the late 90s nextel made the best Cell phones, the trend was to have a beeper and the walkie talkie and walktalkie had the free air time so you woudlnt have to make phones calls.  I use to in bus and hear beep. beep beep from like half the bus.

1054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: May 05, 2014, 06:03:08 PM
hmmm I beleive I would pick bitcoin cause at least I wont have to deal with middle man when I have to sell it.  Gold loses value alone due to people that wanna make money on it.
