1041  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] 0.6BTC through PayPal on: January 05, 2014, 09:22:30 AM
I hope you get your money back.

Please use escrow for these kinds of transactions. I know it's difficult, because most veteran members aren't willing to risk accepting a PayPal payment, but I would have been willing to provide escrow for this deal at 1%.

Then again, you don't know me either. But still.

Thanks for the headsup, and definitely LESSON LEARNED! I will NEVER purchase anything without escrow from now on.  Paypal goods is foolproof, but again...these guys are just looking for quick personal loans with no interest.

To the OP: no probs, glad to help another member steer clear of scamming scumbags.  Can't believe he had the balls to keep posting on here.
1042  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] 0.6BTC through PayPal on: January 05, 2014, 02:31:53 AM
show evidence of what happened screenshots etc i'll leave him negative trust you do the same

Gladly.

Once I heard 'one sec, my mom call me,' I knew I was taken.  I should have listened to my gut when he was advertising 3.49btc for only $1950, but I had to give it a shot since it was paypal.  But this guy seems like he's just using either hacked paypal accounts or transferring money out of these accounts immediately and letting paypal take the loss.  In any event, karma will catch up to this asshole sooner than later.  Check his previous posts, he's been advertising that same 3.49btc since forever.

Hello, I'm looking to buy approx 0.6BTC through PayPal - so I can use my credit card.

I appreciate not many people use PayPal any more so I'm happy to make multiple smaller purchases, and prove trust in whatever way necessary.

Thanks!

Now I have to wait 2 weeks for the chargeback to happen.

Don't trust this guy at all...he should be banned...scumbag.

Apparently scamming members on an alt-coin forum gets easier every day.

1045  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: So...did I get scammed? on: January 02, 2014, 12:01:16 PM
once you file a dispute instantly paypal hold sellers funds and give him 7days of time to refund or send your product.
But if he didnt replied within 7days paypal will automatically deducted money from his account and added to your account.

1 week window, gotcha.

I'm in the exact same situation as you, buddy.  Got scammed for some bitcoins by a bitch on here who even agreed to use paypal invoice as 'goods.'

I filed the dispute an hour after I paid, after I realized immediately that he was pulling my chain, stopped communication, and immediately logged off.  Said he would send asap after he received the money, so obviously he was up to no good.

It's actually 2 weeks for the paypal process to get you back your money, minimum.

After 7 days (1 week) you can escalate your dispute to a claim.  Then once the claim is open, the buyer has 7 days to respond.  And if they don't, then you automatically get your money back on the 14th day.

With me it's kind of tricky, though.  Since I used both my remaining paypal balance as well as a credit card as my backup source of payment.  So if I file the chargeback immediately through my cc, then it will still leave the money that I lost from my paypal balance.  And I don't know how paypal would handle that.

Hope we both get prompt resolutions.
1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BEWARE OF GUYS SELLING COINS FOR PAYPAL!!!! DO NOT DO IT!! on: January 02, 2014, 11:51:45 AM
Just a friendly reminder, Paypal can also be a buyers worst enemy.  I got scammed by this scumbag piece of shit this morning named makapaka :

For some good money.  He was willing to send paypal invoice as goods...the whole 9.  But once he ran off with my money, I realized all he did was probably used a hacked account and transferred or withdrew the money immediately before I even opened up the paypal case an hour later.   I don't think he was too smart either, though.  Since even if he did transfer the funds to another account, the funds would get frozen regardless.  Most likely he made a super quick online purchase with it.

But now I have to go through the hassle of waiting 2 weeks to get my money back from paypal.

Unfortunately alt-currencies are a breeding grounds for scumbags and con artists, but that's just the way it is.

AVOID PAYPAL no matter if you're the buyer or seller, gift or goods.  It's really a lose/lose situation.  And the old saying 'if it's too good to be true, it probably is,' will almost always prove correct.

Trust your gut instinct, and be smart (unlike me).

Good luck all.

I agree

he pretty much just copy pasta'd skillrun's design and skewed it onto a pre-existing coin vector (and it's not even centered well/correctly).  Only thing he really added was the lottery ball transparency layer, from what I can tell.

Just my 2 cents

Are we both on the same page here?

JKC is the abbreviation for junkcoin.  And no, that coin is NOT impressive.  At all. (hence the name)

1052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First time crypto investor: NXT or Earthcoin? on: December 31, 2013, 02:30:29 AM
Thanks very much for the thoughtful replies, all Smiley

I do generally echo the same sentiment as most of these replies...with all the new cryptos out there one can easily get lost amidst the junk.  But who's to say all of it won't be junk in only a few months to a year from now.

Bitcoin is quite out of reach financially right now, as I'd only be able to afford maybe a handful.  I think NXT really offers the 'excitement' out of all of them, but the POS thing really scares me.  However, even if someone decides to dump, it seems the developer community is very strong and they can keep the currency alive through new innovations.

I think I'm going to dab a bit into nxt and wait for another new 'innovative' coin to come out.  Thanks again for the replies guys!
1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / First time crypto investor: NXT or Earthcoin? on: December 31, 2013, 01:53:44 AM
I've narrowed it down between the two, but seems like both have some pros and cons (as all do).

NXT: seems like the most unique with its POS structure, but that's also a double edged swoord as it could prove as the biggest pump and dump scam if some of the stakeholders want it to be.  lots of development in the works, and I like that.  code release in a few days could go either way.

EAC: catchy logo, some nice app development in the works...but all in all that's pretty much where (at least to me) the big breakthroughs stop.  Still relatively inexpensive, and becoming much harder to mine now.

I'm looking to hold for the long term, but seeing positive short term gains in the coming months wouldn't hurt.  So I'm asking you all, which of the two would you invest in at this point and going forward?

Thanks.

I have no problem sending paypal gift (no reversals possible) first if you are an established member that can provide good vouches.  Am open to other online payment methods so long as we're both covered or you have vast selling history.

Need these preferably asap.

Thank you

Im debating dropping some serious coin on a better graphics card to start mining this stuff.

However, I'm wondering if that will be cost effective as the difficulty increases in the coming days/weeks.

Anyone mind sharing what their typical 'real world' (not hypothetical) coin rates/hr are for

~1200kh/s  and ~600kh/s

both solo mining and in a pool?

Obviously the price difference between the cards needed to do the above is basically double or more, but I don't mind investing if it's worth it.

Thanks!
1060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin simply cannot replace fiat on: December 26, 2013, 02:12:59 PM
lol Does anyone here in their right minds actually think fiat will ever be replaced?

Fiat is the sole control mechanism that governments use to keep their citizens in check.  Military/govn't spy programs..you name it...all boils down to fiat and its power.  Banks and governments are synonymous.    You're going to have to overthrow your government in order to ever have fiat replaced by a virtual currency.  The only, and I mean only way that would happen is if the government itself eliminated fiat, established their own virtual currency, and banned all other alt-currencies.

Use your brain people, this is simply just an alternative form of future payment, just like paypal and western union were and still are.
