If you held the key to something which could be worth alot of money or sell later on - would you destroy it.....Would you trust that process or if the key is sold to the highest bidder/NSA, unmasking the entire block chain only for them...

Not to mention massive single point of failure! - Crack the private key...the entire currency becomes worthless...

No Thanks....

There is no private key. There is a one-time setup where random bits are pulled, and you have to trust that entity isn't storing them just like you have to trust your CPU manufacturer hasn't left in backdoors to remotely flip your CPU to Ring 0, that Gavin won't sell the alert key to the highest bidder to spam the system, that whatever altcoin you're using isn't built with backdoored curves, that all miners won't conspire for an attack on the system ect ect.

This uses zero knowledge proofs which allows the system to do valid transactions without knowing the details of who transferred to who. You integrate it with an existing cryptocurrency, Litecoin or anybody else could add Zerocash as a feature.

Apologies - I meant if someone cracks the "random bits" that are used as part of the initial setup...then its worthless.....updated my original post.

Everyone should create a support ticket on btc-e to add Darkcoin - I just sent one through then Smiley

The more requests they get, the faster & more likely they will add it!
1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM Darkcoin instamine 2 millions DRKs (50% of darkcoin in circulation) on: May 18, 2014, 04:16:01 AM
Cryptohunter is busy with whitecoin... a coin which the entirety of the monetary base is instamined in a few days and then no-one can mine it, like, forever. You'll just have to buy it from existing owners while mining ...something else.

Obviously he cares about the wellbeing and fairness towards future miners Grin

LOL hello another attempt at distraction from drks shady start..... even WC was launched with a windows qt and pools so everyone had a fair chance to mine? don't you get that? if everyone has the same chance it is fair? is this a hard concept to understand?  In this respect it was no different from mint, bc, any other of the fast minting pos coins? what exactly is your point?

So you say all short POW cycle coins are bad? even if everyone has a fair chance to mine at launch? really explain yourself?

Take into account WC had 70GH and many multipools on this for days. If you are buying from the WC market place you will be buying from a huge amount of people. If you are buying dark you are buying from a handfull of big whales that have spread their loot.

Yeah the dev made a shit coin that couldn't generate POS. The community were shafted. Do i support WC original dev OF COURSE NOT. The original dev is a scum bag and this is why i say all premines and instamines are bad and need regulation. DRK has one of the worst instamine of them all and sets a very bad example.

Yeah i'm really busy with WC, i am on many threads WC is not a major concern to me i can assure you. I have many many coins that i take interest in.

I'm bored of the entire subject like i said on the last thread. If you drk holders can NOT prove the things in the OP didn't happen  (which you can't because they did happen) then stfu and get back to you own drk dirty thread and stop spamming the main section with your drk coins spam ..... i see more drk coin spam on the main board than all other coins put together.

Face your coin was and is a scam and get on with profiting from noobs that think that drk will make them rich until they realise........that it will not. If you didn't buy in a long time ago or were one of the instaminers then get ready for a rough ride.

All you can do is repeat your rubbish about the start and you concentrate on the past - it has been so widely distributed its not even an issue anymore.....we are all looking toward the future - I feel sorry for you

HAHAHAHAHAHAH !!!! This just came out on Coindesk!!

http://www.coindesk.com/advanced-algorithms-maxcoin-dogecar/

The part is called ... The Rise of X11!!

Quote
In recent months, innovations have come out of the altcoin community that have pushed new mining approaches and algorithms into the fore. From Scrypt-N to Groestl, more advanced systems for veryifing transactions within the coin network are reshaping the altcoin landscape.

According to a document created by pool operator SuchPool.pw, X11 “provides a very efficient way to mine coins”. The algorithm does not pose the same power needs as other proof-of-work digital currencies, results in lower heat ranges and and greater hardware longevity as a result.

X11 has slowly gained traction in terms of new coin implementation. Hirocoin and québecoin are perhaps the most notable examples of X11 coins. Additionally, the algorithm has been integrated by some elements of the multipool community, with several pools offering X11 as a mining option.

For altcoin miners, X11 presents an interesting alternative that could become more prominent within the ecosystem. Those hoping to increase the lifetime of their mining rigs may want to consider this new algorithm as a viable option.
WTF?

Is this not the second coindesk article today where the author was clueless / deeply confused?

Unfortunately, i think it's calculated, coindesk are showing their usual editorial line in not mentioning darkcoin.

Darkcoin's rise in the last several days would not go by unnoticed by the coindesk crew. Unless i have missed an article or three, it's a shame that coindesk does not cover darkcoin.

I guess they have their reasons....

Search results for "darkcoin"
Sorry, we couldn't find anything matching your search.

Yeah their editor has tons of hirocoin and québecoin...

I am disgusted at Coindesk for allowing that article to be published - saying Hiro is the prominent x11 coin....are they living in their own little bubble ffs? Who gives a f**k about Max Coin and Smurf Coin....

I would have hoped Coindesk were planning on doing an entire piece on Darkcoin....

Looks like we all get a breather while the price has stabilized at the 0.013 mark.

This is my prediction - although I usually suck at this Cheesy Feel free to make your bets!

Next rise I predict stability at 0.021-0.025 - align with hash rate and where I think the value should be.

Once masternode payments & DGW3 begin - expect 0.04 - 0.09 (Big exchanges wake up and see the lost revenue and add DRK)

Ring Signatures & Community Verification - expect 0.15 - 0.2 (If all goes well, LTC dies at the hands of DRK)

Open source and Community adoption - 0.3+

Holy balls the difficulty is nuts now. I can barely mine 1 coin/day at this rate  Shocked

hence why the price still has still more room to stabilise at a higher level.

do u guys think it is too late to mine this coin or not?

its never too late - the amount of potential in this coin is more than I have seen for anything apart from bitcoin.

Even if you got 1 coin per day - imagine when it gets to $100+ a coin....

Ring signatures are going to be implemented in V2. I will begin development immediately after I opensource V1.

How do we compete against clones? Can they clone me? I work on this full time. In fact, I've only been at it four months. So far I've implemented DarkSend + X11 + DGW + Masternode payments. Plus, I've agreed to work on this project till at least Jan 2016 full time. So who on earth would invest in a clone?
This definitely needs quoting, my one and only concern regarding our DRK investments was the cryptonote coins and their ring signature technology (look it up, you'll see why).

If Darkcoin gets ring signatures ON TOP of everything else, it will be the ultimate coin, with regards to privacy at least. To be honest this announcement has made me plan to get the funds for another 1k asap.

If the following is added it will be the ultimate & I see this not only passing LTC but giving BTC a run for its money:
  • ring signatures
    I2P for ip obfuscation
    proof of service with masternodes
encrypted message system to allow order numbers to be sent with payments.

Lots of very positive things happening in next two weeks....decided to buy a few more DRK  Wink
What is happening?

Masternode payments in the next release May 14th, releasing for community verification then finally open source.

Wired.com is writing an article about Darkcoin....

Sky is the limit for this coin
