1041  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: All professions are important on: January 13, 2024, 10:22:42 PM
This is a key concern especially amongst GenZ as any work which requires our physical efforts apart from using laptops has become like a outcast and the problem started when the previous generations has worked hard and provided good education t younger generation but as we excel in the technology we are forget those manual works which technology shouldn't be able to replace and i have made a similar topic in regards to how those blue collar and skilled workers are not getting due payout and respect as people look down at them. We need to understand that's it's not profession but rather person who should be valued.
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EVERDOME: Orchestrating a new era in the metaverse on: January 13, 2024, 09:42:10 PM
The only thing which comes to my mind when I hear NFT or Memecoins or Metaverse is scam. I don't think Metaverse is realistic and it was all the hype and Mark Zuckerberg's view on Metaverse gave it much needed breakthrough but now it has almost disappeared from the market hence this is a thing of past and we should move on with more realistic technology. Lot of people have lost money of meta projects and wouldn't be willing to lose again.
1043  Economy / Economics / Re: How influential is crypto worldwide? on: January 13, 2024, 09:30:32 PM
When this is considered, the suggestion that these cryptocurrencies could grow larger than some of the world's largest companies (as some, like Bitcoin, already have, is not an unreasonable one.
Firstly, Bitcoin does not have a need to grow bigger than those industries. Finances is a game of the centralized, corporate world and they have so many tricks to keep winning that game.

Bitcoin is not about the numbers game, it js an alternative to that entire system. An escape from the financial trap that the governments have set up.

Bitcoin can never outgrow those industries as it would require support from government and they won't until Bitcoin becomes centralized if it does then it would lose t essence and the reason why it was invented, I think more adoption is needed so that people can accept Bitcoin as payment system which is possible only when more people starts using it. Because if we don't have adoption you will be just transacting numbers and end user would not be able to utilize Bitcoin for any purpose
1044  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A new front of conflict China-Taiwan on: January 13, 2024, 09:05:45 PM
It would be a foolish move if Chine decides to take Taiwan by force as it cannot fight on multiple front because relationship between India and China ha not been so good and we often see some sort of skirmishes at the border so it cannot risk something like this at the moment and it is also facing internal conflict due to illegal occupation of East Turkistan aka Uygur Muslims and there has been news of unbearable brutality which is like a ticking time bomb which can explode any moment. China has to focus more on future on the land which it already rules rather than annexing Taiwan.
1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Time to collect altcoins now or later? on: January 13, 2024, 08:42:17 PM
~~~
I think there was more than enough time to buy altcoins; the market was not in the best condition for more than six months for a long time.It was a great time to form your own portfolio
obviously Valid coin holders or early investors of Potential coins, are taking extra advantage for current market. Although crypto industry is in correction mode now but earlier investors are still in profit. even that was also the best time to purchase altcoins when op was inquiring cause that time prices were also low. But the fact is, everyone can't afford to invest in earlier. That isn't their fault, and so is for op. But crypto industry is full of opportunities, and many are expecting more correction will happep soon for halving effect. So that time will be also good to purchase altcoins with low price
there are still lots of altcoins with a very cheap price and they are even above the rank in CMC, only few altcoins are experiencing rapid growth in terms of price so there are opportunities for crypto investors. the only issue we can see is that there is no assurance when they will pumped. for the time being, only BTC is going up and down, the majority of the altcoin's price in satoshis didn't move high.
the one i think we still need to wait still is the bounce of BTC price after this correction. the impatient investor will sell but if you can hold til halving, its going to be fun to see prices surge.
Rightly explained as there ar lot of Altcoins which hasn't pumped but only few which has pumped in the last two month has created some sort of FOMO which may lead users to take entry at peak and also on the other hand those who are hodling altcoins which hasn't pumped yet, might end up sell off due to price correction or just to convert their investment into one of these few Altcoins which is pumping. I would say it would be better to either hodl on or else make quick gain but shouldn't cashout instead convert it into BTC as this will give more appraisal to your gains.
1046  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Spot trading or future trading which trading is best for beginers? on: January 13, 2024, 08:18:09 PM
I don't think trading is best for a new crypto user so calling newbies here is stupid. Because new crypto users will leave the crypto market when they lose big money while trading. So beginners should practice well and push themselves to the latest level. You will get good results only when you have enough knowledge about crypto market.
I believe they can go ahead with spot trading and there are demo account which they can create, practice their trading strategy and learn from the mistake. I know that knowledge is important but only knowledge alone will not be able help you without practice as they need to implement their knowledge into trading strategy and experiment with multiple technical indicators to figure a reliable options and then start with spot trading with Bitcoin as Altcoins will always be risky.
I don't recommend future trading even for experts as it doesn't take a second to lose it all.
1047  Local / India / Re: Apple removes Binance, OKX and Kucoin from App Store in India. on: January 13, 2024, 08:03:37 PM
Rather than helping the middle class, the government keeps on screwing it for its benefit.
What screwing? Although I agree they should make tax rates reasonable otherwise this decision merely brings offshore traders back to Indian exchanges and it did [1], tell me if i'm missing something.
Quote
There was an article published by the Economic Times that URLs of these exchanges have been blocked. It seems they are still accessible for now and in the coming days, they will get blocked.
Already blocked from my side, I use Jio.
[1] Binance Loses India Traders to Local Firms It Recently Dominated
As expected the conclusion to this issue would be not good. The government would now realize how much they made this issue worse in the future. It is almost certain that not many exchanges from that list would comply with them. Kucoin and OKX have said anything about this shadow ban or any other exchange like Binance did as soon as they got blocked by Apple. I guess it will be only Binance that might comply and how long it will take is uncertain.
Binance might bow down to the government but if it does then we need to understand what would be the government's requirement? I am sure government is doing this to make them comply on applying the exorbitant taxes which should be directed to them and if Binance or any other exchange complies with that then it doesn't make them different than CoinDCX, CoinSwitch or any other Indian exchange who are at brink of closure as users have shifted to other international exchanges due to this justifying taxes and people will just stop using them. This current Indian government is a curse to common people and Indian users don't have much options at the moment.
1048  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin's Financial Advice on: January 13, 2024, 07:56:43 PM
These are the one of the best financial advice which looks so simple yet very important I would say these are the pillars of financial freedom and growth. Especially for the crypto industry the last advice is the most important as most of us end up losing because of leverage as we continue to see huge liquidation everyday due to the high leverages. I had some financial advice but considering this one I feel my financial advice wont make sense because this one is gold.
1049  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is just happened on the Bitcoin Market? on: January 13, 2024, 07:32:17 PM
Until now, the Bitcoin ETF issue is still the main factor, Bitcoin being very aggressive, one day it can fall up to 8%, then the next day it has risen again.
This can make people panic a bit.
You need to understand that the initial controversy about the SEC ETF Twitter account being hacked before the approval of the spot Bitcoin ETFs was one of the reasons why there hasn't been a fast rise in the price of Bitcoin and to me; I see it that the United States SEC did it on purpose because had it been they just blown it to air and the price records a significant rise I believe most investors would have been so desperate to sell off their coin at that high price thereby the price may also start dipping.
The fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin even before ETF approval was obvious but it isn't gonna stay longer before the price will start to skyrocket again so all what we ought to do now is to be patient and hodl the coins we have in our portfolio, if possible acquire more now that the price is dipping because there's actually gonna be a huge increase in the price of Bitcoin after the halving.
Yes there are still lot of confusion as people were expecting for a massive pump post SEC's approval of ETF but we have definitely seen pump and fluctuation but not at the scale at which people were expecting which may populate some doubt of insecurity in people's mind leading to a negative thought about a possible correction but we need to stay calm and shouldn't make any decision in hassle as I have seen people selling off when BTC hit back $40K but it only pumped back from that number. It's time to be more cautious than ever and avoid fuds.
1050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if authorities launch a tax for owning bitcoin? on: January 13, 2024, 07:12:08 PM
lets compare  to other things that have property tax just for ownership
real estate property tax is only applied due to ongoing municipal costs of the streets around the real estate. things like pot-holes, landscaping, electrifying the streetlamps and traffic lights aswell as other public services
there is no monetary loss to government for someone owning bitcoin. there are no government maintenance costs involved
the only tax they "should" legally charge is capital gains. but this "should" be on realised gains upon a sale, not equity value increase per year
Government don't care whether we gain or lose in Bitcoin or crypto in general and rather they are more focused on discouraging people from using crypto and I am not sure if you are aware but Indian government has already applied a atrocious tax on crypto and even 1%TDS on every transaction and even if you want to make a trade you gotta pay the tax which eats up the profit and this has been implied over Indian based exchanges thus literally killing Indian exchanges are people have shifted to international exchanges like Binance but now they have pressurised Apple to remove apps like top centralized international exchanges from App store. If Indian government has done it then any government can do this. Need to have back up plans
1051  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Good thing about your government? on: January 12, 2024, 10:05:56 PM
It's so easy and popular to criticise governments, while usually when they something good, these things get unnoticed. Many people saying that current government is worst that we ever had. But I think they have short memory and don't remember what previous governments have done. But in general, I doubt that we will have government one day that will be considered as good and popular becausel always there will be more nagative things than positive.
I'm not living bad and I can't complain much about our government. TBH, I'm not following that closely all decisions that they make. What good things they have done? Good question... I know that financially support for young families who want to buy their first home. And this support is quite significant. More socially vulnerable groups of people getting compensations for electricity or heating. Because these bills sometimes can be huge.
True, criticizing in general is the most easiest thing to do hence it's done by everyone, I would say be it any project or scheme public should equally play their role because I have seen situations where public has misused any good scheme launched by government and people from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will be able to relate what I am saying here. It should be an joint effort by both civilians and government but often government takes decisions which is against the need of its people.
1052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How to Spot and Avoid Altcoin Scams in 2024: A Comprehensive Guide on: January 12, 2024, 08:15:12 PM
There are numerous way scam can happen and we will never be able to identify all the methodology but I would say that there are basics like hygiene fix which will atleast keep us away from scams, first one being the so called influencers/experts predicting market and asking you to join their paid group, second one being the meme coins and NFT projects as they just keep promoting their projects as next pepe coin and eventually ends up dumping it all in the launch day hence shouldn't entertain any meme coin or NFT projects. Last one would be falling for freebies and giveaways as this is the new trend where you are tagged in the imposter telegram groups along with others stating you have won weekly contest or any thing similar like lucky winner and asks you to click on their link which takes you to an external site and then asks you to link your wallet.
Just follow these simple steps to stay away from scams.
1053  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: January 12, 2024, 07:59:39 PM
Twitter usage is really going down I think the app is more boring . What do you think we all know elon this might be another business Strategy right Undecided
I think that you're wrong about twitter being boring.
The thing is that social media general is gradually becoming boring because with the so many economic challenge that is hitting the world globally, people don't really give a dime on what's really  going on in that space, everyone is seriously about their business and only comes online once in a while to to clear off their head.
Even with this, twitter is still very active and functional, nothing on twoter is basically posted by her staff, twitter users are the ones responsible for how active or boring it is and if you think that twitter is becoming boring and you are concerned about it, maybe you should post more in it so it wouldn't be boring.
Twitter or currently X is one of the most used platforms in terms of the crypto world ad new knows his one of the fans of having an nft and crypto market with his favourite meme coins like dodge coin, and he knows that reason why if makes an offer to the badge to the people that they don't need to gain a lot of followers to have this instead they can now buy this, and for the newly created users i know there's a fee right now even though you see this as small amount only once there's a lot of people bought this still gained profit after he bought Twitter, but in other side X is also house of tons of scammers and if they want to increase the reputation as real account they can now just paid easily which the users must need to make sure and verify if they want to make a transaction with this platform.
This buyout option was meant to be a gamechanger and keep the scammers at bay but it has backfired and the blue tick mark has lost it's significant. Twitter should first try and figure out a way to block all these scammers or increase their algorithms to identify the scammers or something like if a topic or post looks suspicious should be validated, there is a lot which can be done but a lot of efforts should be made by Trust & Safety, Engg & Product team and they got keep doing A/B testing and figure out a sustainable fix.
1054  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crypto & Older Generation on: January 12, 2024, 07:27:58 PM
We have often seen youngsters are more open towards crypto and adapting it wherein the older generation like the ones who are in their 40s and above are reluctant towards crypto and often term it as bubble or scam though they know that it's not a scam. Is it out of jealousy that they couldn't onboard into crypto at the right time hence bad mouthing it or else just that they are not ready to accept something knew as kids are becoming millionaire with crypto which was never case with any other asset hence this looks too good to be true for them.
Note: I am not saying everyone above 40 years are reluctant but it's just my experience and it might be related to certain geographical location or certain set of people. I am not generalizing it but share my experience.
When the old people say that crypto is a scam or about to burst bubbles, they are not outrightly wrong. Some of the old people do not joke around with their hard earned money, so they are very skeptical of the investment they venture into. In the actual sense, most of the coins we see in the cryptocurrency industry are scam coins. Yes, they are. It is only Bitcoin and a few other coins that are real. So, when making your analysis, ensure you are coin specific.
Talking about the age factor you noted in OP. The younger generation are so much in a haste to become millionaires while the old ones are not much moved because they have tasted money in one way or the other.
Exactly the answer I was looking for and now even I feel the same as they are not completely wrong but to an extend as we have seen the kind of scams which happens in Crypto, younger generation indeed wants quick gain and wants to become millionaires overnight as we hdon't have the kind of patience and efforts which the older generations had and moreover how future trading both longs and shorts have been liquidated they would far distance themselves from crypto and trading.
1055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowing Bitcoin price history is important on: January 12, 2024, 06:57:28 PM
2019 was one of the bearish years where the price of Bitcoin had dropped following the dump started in 2018. Knowing Bitcoin price history is important but we still cannot speculate things with the past though we can relate it like we have seen bull run whenever halving has taken place (follows the next year from the halving year), reason I am saying we cannot predict or speculate based on price history is because I used to follow the same and in last couple of Decembers we haver seen Bitcoin dumping hence I though December brings this jinx which was not the case in 2023 as in the month of December in fact Bitcoin prospered even further.  But price history helps un in making calculated steps.
1056  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for January on: January 12, 2024, 06:37:40 PM
Market has been in green for months now and I think it's a gradual price increase and having witnessed more than one bull run hence I can say this is not a bull run because the prices will increase so rapidly during the bull run. I think the bull run will start the following year post halving somewhere in 2025. But we can utilize this rally to gain profit and possible correction if any to accumulate more.
1057  Other / Archival / Re: Suppose you own a Bitcoin now. So what to do? on: January 12, 2024, 05:50:31 PM
At the current Bitcoin price you can either purchase roughly 300 sqft of land within metro city limits or you can buy an a land of roughly 800 sqft in towns and much more in villages or country side. Real estate has been so expensive nowadays in my country but yeah there are countries where you can get a lot of things with 1 BTC or settle down in their life or start something big like large scale scale business but in my country one can do it by staying in rural or sub urban are but not in the mainland.
1058  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is DingDang.io is the next PEPE? Investing in it is worthy or not? on: January 12, 2024, 05:14:48 PM
I have checked their website and not impressed. This is nothing special but just another meme / NFT project like the hundreds of other coins but you are right as it is capable of giving high returns or take away everything just like any other meme coin projects. I would never endorse any such projects which is based on meme or NFT though it has capability to give you unexpected returns which may not be possible with other category altcoins but the problem is we would lose our sleep after investing as we never know when the coin might sky rocket and when it would become zero hence it's as good as future trading with high leverage.
1059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptocurrency Scams: How to Stay Safe on: January 12, 2024, 03:29:44 PM
I would say the most important and effective tricks which they use is promising huge returns which are too good to be true, more than crypto scams nowadays we have these premium signal provider scams where they fool you with some screenshots to prove that their signal is so accurate by hiding their losing signals and gets you tempted to subscribe to their premium channels and also there are AI trading bot scams which has emerged post emergence of AI tools.
1060  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagine African countries using Bitcoin to pay salaries, on: January 12, 2024, 02:58:34 PM
We are still far away from those days as for government to consider paying their employees salary in Bitcoin or any other crypto currency they need adoption and I know there are lot of crypto users but not enough for government to take this step and even if government decides to pay who will be held responsible if the price dumps? there are certain challenges due to which we cannot expect payment through Bitcoin.
The most important thing is the fact that very few countries have crypto friendly policy and rest are not in good terms with crypto .
