1041  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Do you think it's safe to use a private key hash from 12-characters on: August 23, 2023, 07:45:33 PM
I see the appeal of storing money in your brain. I have some, it's been there for years. Without checking, I'm certain it's still there. But the key is much more complicated than 12 characters.
It does not seem like that was the reason for the question the OP asked, and there should be no appeal to store sensitive information in your brain considering how fragile it is even if it is just 12 characters or even less.

We sometimes forget basic things like passwords or even patterns used to protect our phones during memory down-times. If it is not written down in multiple locations it is not secure.

1042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do star players affect the odds of a match bet? on: August 22, 2023, 09:30:04 PM
If you are asking if the involvement of star players affects how much odds bookies place on a club, then it definitely does cause all factors like: who is playing at home, current form, any related match news etc affects the outcome of the match.

So the answer is yes, important players affect the odds of a match.

I hope Todd Boehly's model works out for the better because we don't have any reason not to compete given what we've spent so far.
It is not looking like it will at all and the owner seems to be more of a businessman than a football fan who is passionate about the results on the pitch.

The big winners here are the smaller clubs who groom or buy the young talents for cheap and then sell them off to much bigger clubs and it only seems fitting cause there is an an obvious imbalance in available resources between clubs and this is the only way to bridge that gap and allow clubs to compete more evenly.

...
Arsenal may come to rue some of those missed chances, especially the one by Eddie which was the clearest sight of goal they had all through the first half.
Early goals help to calm the nerves and knock the opponents off their game. But as it stands things are going as well as Roy Hodgson and he can only hope for more of the same in the second half.

Moisés Caicedo is actually a very fantastic player but he's definitely worth nothing near half the price Chelsea had to pay for him, and Brighton aren't looking like a team who misses him anyway, while having an heavy fortune in bank for him.
And he now has to play to that price tag cause the media is going to constantly put him under pressure to justify the money Chelsea spent on him, even if he is playing "decent" it will not be good enough.
The coach has a big job to manage the players and maintain their confidence while keeping them on their toes to perform to par.

as it looks now, Everton can be saved only by Sheffield, Wolves and Luton being worse than them, they don't want to be better
They have started some previous seasons good but ended up terribly. Maybe a bad start could turn good for a change.

A decent start to the halfway point of the first half by Arsenal. Crystal Palace are sitting deep as expected and allowing the goonerz to have possession of the ball as they wait to hit on the counter with some long balls.

Declan Rice and Thoma Partey partnership looks to be the favoured pairing by Arteta and both players are beginning to get into a rhythm. It is a shame that Timber sustained that injury cause he was already proving to be a very important signing allowing Arsenal to play with an extra holding midfielder when they have the ball.

Lots of more action expected.

1047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Consolidating UTXOs and maintaining privacy on: August 21, 2023, 10:59:52 AM
You can coinjoin A into UTXO D
Then send all of B, C and D with the lowest fee possible to one UTXO; E.

Just out of curiousity, what do you mean? Are the amounts too small to worry about it being KYCed?
Or it means that the fee being paid is to high and defeats the purpose of consolidating, so a better option will be to skip all the hoops of coinjining and just use the least expensive method to send all the UTXOs into one single output.

1048  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Multi-sig, Non-Custodial Wallet on: August 21, 2023, 10:11:08 AM
It is better to follow the old ways wherein you keep your backup phrases and Private key somewhere safe.
Private keys are not easy to manage and we should not handle them if we do not know what we are doing. The seed phrase or backup phrase is what can be written down and stored safely and not the keys which is a combination of different characters including numbers and alphabets.

An airgapped device is an alternative to a hardware wallet or a multi sig wallet and is not as complicated to set up while providing same level of security.

could i use my exact device entropy details that was used to generate the private key through bitcoin core in 2011 or 2012
Are you asking if you can use the same derivation path?

Can you share the public key and then the characters of your WIF which you have?
DO NOT share such information with anyone here or in your personal message.

The forum is doing great when it comes to relevancy and keywords dominance Bitcointalk is still on top
With a Pagerank of 6/10 they are on top of keywords researches
That is all organic engagements and traffic. The forum is pretty active and I am sure we get a lot of backlinks from other websites which will give it a pretty good rating on keywords relate to bitcoin and crypto.

The admin does not actively try to improve the ratings through directed approach or pay directly to search engines to give the forum higher results in search pages.

preferably vietnamese thai cambodian or filipino
Cockfighting is either illegal or highly regulated in these countries you listed.
The most promising is Thailand where it was recently resumed and plans are made to market it like a tourist attraction[1], since it it is banned in many placed around the world.

And now resources are coming as well, that transfer fee for Caicedo was a real robbery and I don't understand why would Chelsea ever agree to deal like that.
They know how to drive a hard bargain and wait long enough for it to turn to a bidding battle between top clubs driving one to make a decisive move. Just as WestHam did with the Declan Rice sale.

Brighton plays really good football and they are a joy to watch. That being said they had maybe the easiest opening 3 fixtures in the league but then they fixtures turn really bad. We shall see how will they be able to handle those opponents that are on their level or better.
Momentum is great early on in the season, cause those easy fixtures could turn difficult once those clubs pick up some steam or are into relegation battles.

1053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important to know: Difference Coin / Token and shady marketing practices on: August 20, 2023, 07:34:55 AM
It is important to note that being a coin and running on a blockchain does not give any extra legitimacy to the project. The developing team can put in a little effort to creating a crap blockchain and investing loads on marketing. This is not false advertising cause it is actually a coin but a shitty one.

So, for the sake of accuracy, these products are called "Alttokens" instead of "Altcoins" as long as they are still a token. The popular term for such products would then be "Shittoken" instead of "Shitcoin" accordingly.
In your example it will be tokens and not alttokens, cause there is no top token the way we have Bitcoin and it is not an alternate version.
I am okay lumping them all as shitcoins or altcoins, cause making a distinction makes some look more valuable than the others.

1054  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What's the best instant exchange for BTC to XMR on: August 19, 2023, 09:26:00 PM
I won't use Changelly or Changenow because KYC's one but complaints are another. I've downloaded Bisq. I didn't use it because it wanted a deposit before trading so I'll test Bisq BTC to XMR later.
Bisq is a great option if you want to maintain privacy.

Does P2P mean you'll get better privacy & rates to online instant swappers every time? I'll check LocalMonero for rate comparing later but it's only allowing trades if you'll register so that isn't ideal for privacy. Unstoppable P2P's a good option but they haven't offered the best rates.
With P2P on decentralized exchanges (not centralized exchanges) you get better privacy but rates depend on the platform and the agreement between both parties.

Brighton losing their top midfielders and being top of the league after the first two games (still too early), with a total of 8 goals scored (which is the highest so far by any club) is a great feat. The club is one of the best managed in the league with the little resources available to them.
I was scared to pick them to win this weekend against an obviously tough opponent but they ended up blowing Wolves away.

Slow start to the season but still very recoverable.

1056  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Factor behind the rise and fall of Bitcoin price on: August 19, 2023, 01:46:52 PM
Economics is universal for any product. The more people desire it, the more the price increases and the less people desire it, the lower the price. With the supply the reverse happens, the higher the supply the more diluted the product is in the market and the lower the price.
Both have to work together however, if there is no demand for a product, the price will be low no matter how scarce it is.

We can only give simplified explanations to this here, but demand and supply is a complex and is regulated by many other factors which can drive the price up or pull it down.

1057  Other / Meta / Re: Growing SEO spam on Bitcointalk on: August 19, 2023, 01:34:23 PM
One way to find them all would be if Bitcointalk creates a page like patrol, but for edited posts only.
This could work. The edited time could also be moved up to when the post or reply will not be likely seen by others.
For example, a post that was edited after 15-20 minutes is still very much new and does not need to be added to such a patrol list.

I'm sure Google hates this SEO strategy it could affect also our forum it must be reported to mods.
We are still very far away from the frequency of spam links that will hurt the forum's SEO ratings from google or any other search engine.
For most cases you will have to actually as a forum be encouraging such spam links and to a very high degree for it to affect the website.

The admin also seems to not care much about the rating of the forum om search engines nor take any professional action to improve it.

@un_rank these sidebets are made on gentlemen's agreement -- you don't pay up, you lose reputation. That's quite powerful at this forum.
Sure, I am aware of how sidebets work, we were discussing how best to record them; in a spreadsheet or a thread.

...this make me think that it will be extremely difficult for them to win away in tomorrow game.
A draw seems like an expected result and I will expect it to be a low scoring one or even a goalless one. Predictions matter little when the whistle is blown for kickoff and the match can swing whichever way.

1059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suggest for newbies investors! on: August 17, 2023, 06:25:54 PM
First advice is to remove crypto and replace that wit Bitcoin. Newbies should not go anywhere near altcoins and focus on researching more about Bitcoin.
They can invest as long as they have gotten the ropes about how bitcoin works and how not to lose them.

1060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's 2140. All the Bitcoin is now mined, only mining transactions make $ on: August 17, 2023, 07:50:30 AM
As halving progresses, it will get to a point where a single bitcoin will be mined for decades cause the mining reward has become so small, smaller than the transaction fees already. So 2140 or whenever the last sat is mined will not be an epoch for bitcoin, but a culmination of changes that has happened several years before that time.

Everyone validates transaction, and there is no actual puzzles being solved.
Nodes validate transactions.
