1041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 13, 2023, 08:21:27 PM

Just imagine the profits that would have been if those that bought the new iphone during the release date of those model above bought bitcoin instead. Avoid making same mistakes and choose bitcoin.
Humans and luxury as so inseparable of a truth. Only that there are those that don't know when you live a luxurious lifestyle and not to. There's always time to live luxuriously with ostentatious items and services but there's always a time to invest. People that made investment yesterday their profits can't be compared to those that starts today, same way those that will start today to invest in bitcoin (rather than buying luxurious gadgets that will lose value tomorrow) will also have profits that can't be compared to those that will want to wait till tomorrow to invest .

Items like iPhone is never an asset but a liability that you have to maintain while in use but bitcoin doesn't demand any maintainance after purchasing which is why it's wise to buy that which adds to your pocket and not things that takes from you and also loses value with time.
1042  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Importance of inviting Newbies to Bitcointalk on: September 13, 2023, 02:46:15 PM

when inviting someone to Bitcointalk, you should see to it that they understand what it's all about and yes you can equally tell them all the benefits that come with joining Bitcointalk but be sure to inform them about all the rules they have to abide, to so they don't come here and start spamming the forum without understanding the rules.

Apart from the benefit of gaining knowledge I don't think there's any other benefits to expose to someone you're just telling about bitcointalk. This is important so that person have one goal to focus on as he or she register and become a member of the forum which is the goal to broaden his knowledge on bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

Many a newbies have been misled because those that introduced them to the forum put forward some financial benefit's ahead of knowledge and learning regarding the forum.  About the rules, of course it's important to give a preliminary lecture to anyone about the rules guiding the forum so when they come they can get the interest to know more other rules that follows.

If I want to be official (neutral) about your claims I'll want to ask if you have evidence to back your claims ? Or it's just out of frustration from the system you're boiling your anger!

In any society where there are strong individuals and weak institutions. In otherwords, individuals that are stronger than state institution's,  have it at the back of your mind that such society is deranged and can't function properly under the rule of law and sanctity.

The system was originally built to fail so there's no height of agitation, clamouring that is going to make any positive impact or change not until the fetters behind the creation of the system has been pulled down or delinked and a new chapter is rebuild but this can only be made possible on the blood of true nationalists, activists and patriots.

If we continue for dis matta we go explain tire, no evidence.
It got me thinking in what sort of evidence you want about this.
If you are provided with the required evidence would you be able to stand firm for the justice of the complainant? Or you would just enjoy it as a point of arguements?
If I may ask you, what do you think of the state "don't suffocate the poor" "Let the poor breathe" made my Mr president Bola Amed Tinubu? You think them at the top levels doesn't know how inconvincing they are being to the common masses?
Do you still need evidence of the police brutalities?
Do you need to be told that the top level personels feels above the law where a one man with his convoy could drive a one way and going against the traffic controls?
You don't think about why guardian security person's molests and oppresses the common man on his mobile where he is expected to either slow down or pack by til just one sole mans convoy is passed?
Do you ever not wondered why the government from the local levels, State levels and of course the federal levels would be so interested if a mayhem is happened to a so V.I.P personal than a common man?
You ever don't have think about why would a foreigner would be treated as a 1st class citizen here while you an indigenous one from here is treated as a no classification in this country?
Or is it the so called INEC who is supposed to stand as a neutral bodies against political interests of an individual during elections? If you argue about this, why didn't INEC focused on defending itself instead biasing to the other parties while channelling to defend it's interest of the other party during the just concluded Tribunal?
You need evidence that one high rated politician/richmans life matters more than a common man whereas they have most security personels supposed to be on duties in regards to wide range to assure a massive security guaranteed instead they keep them within themselves and territories for self defence and guardians?

Take it or not to whom it may concern, we fed by the reminant of the politicians and the riches otherwise the common man's existence is not mattered in this country 9ja
Oomheen  you go gat slow down with this your newspaper frontpage like questionnaires. One at a time pls. Lol.

Let's keep grammer aside, not that ma happy or supportive of the dilapidation progress of the system but the truth wey most of us no wan hear and accept be say e get some of us wey if we dey there in government we go do the worse. You know why? Cause that's how the system was built to function which is different from what ought to be with what it is right now.

The system for Naija na wen inno favor you you go dey shout shout say the government all round, but this same person if the government turn com favor am you go dey hear am the shout government good, everywhere soft both economic n security dey okay.  And these are the characteristics of the political culture of the typical Naija man that's why it will be very hard to bring solutions to all these questions you asked.  Who's with you today against the bad governance, if given a tip of the iceberg will easily turn against you in favour of the same government you both were criticizing and seeking for betterment from.
How do you successfully fight such a system?

For anybody like that , him supposed happy day him even get sumtin to sell use solve him problem. What if him no get BTC anywer at all to sell how him for do.

But if na unto person wey no get scong problem, as In problem him fit avoid , na dat kind matta I fit advise day as e stand now no reason to sell your BTC cos currently lik dis BTC price don test $26k mark twice just dis few days and that mark area na important resistance point way be say any breakthrough that resistance na sokoto straight up price fit reach around $30k again  and you know wetin that one com mean nah, by December e fit jump reach 35k+. So avoid temptation to sell for now if your problem no be life threatening one.
1047  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: September 12, 2023, 09:16:40 PM
Wait a minute I used to think online is the next generation if your not going online your toast but elon musk just lost funds in Twitter trying to take it fully online. He sacked almost all the employees ,replaced them with bots and now he is trying   to sell it . Don't mistake me I'm not trying to criticise the dude but i don't get why this happened for real his plan was nice trying to reduce cost of work . But what went wrong
Twitter usage is really going down I think the app is more boring . What do you think we all know elon this might be another business Strategy right Undecided
In a direct answer to your question about "what mistakes did Musk make in Twitter?" I can answer you simply: The biggest mistake Musk made after the platform purchase deal was that he appointed himself directly as its CEO. All the decisions that followed were because the owner of the platform imagined himself capable of running it despite his lack of the necessary experience. And if he really intends to sell the platform today, then this may be the wisest decision, confirming his inability to continue management without the necessary experience.
I don't think Elon musk lacks that experience in running the defunct platform twitter as you claim, to me he's running it the best way any other CEO given the privilege would have ran it. It just that there's much competition regarding social media platforms with plenty discussion engagement social platforms here and there. Human love to try new things when they just developed same happened with twitter now X when it first launched so we shouldn't expect it to continually hold an increasing number of active users as before in the face of new emerging competitive social platforms.
1048  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 12, 2023, 08:49:47 PM
Food prices will increase inline with oil pretty much, that would be one of the easiest ways to tell inflation in pricing is likely to continue.  Also fertilizer is another price to follow for cost of production but as I understand it food prices are rising because cost to produce is rising.  Generally the world is demanding more refined foods and a greater amount of meat means more demand for food to feed live stock, enough factors for prices to rise over a decade and thats what I expect.

And here in my country work is being done to increase the excise duty for petroleum products! Of course, this will affect the prices of all products and services... Inflation is unstoppable for now, and many steps taken by the state are counterproductive. In the meantime, some chain stores and some companies are recording a growth of +150%... compared to last year, and a much higher growth compared to two years ago. While people still work for $2 per hour, min wage.
The same problem is what we are facing down here in Nigeria, after the removal of fuel subsidy, which led to the hike of petroleum product. The cost of food price has never been stable,it increases evey week and it has made every other commodities to increase in price. Inflation is really a big problem to my country economy and the new government doesn't have any strategy that they can use to combat the situation. The poor are suffering more and the middle class, because those that are working for the government salaries is depreciating and no increment from the government, enable them coupe with it.

The case of Nigeria in this inflation saga is a peculiar one, peculiar in in the sense that the economy it is surrounded by a people in government that knows the solution to the economic downturn facing the country but decides to pay lips service to it. The government have practically refused to diversify the country's economy focusing and depending mainly on crude oil production for the sustainability of all sectors of the economy.
In the 50s, 60s and 70s Nigeria was well known for her agricultural productivity in all region's of the country there were groundnuts pyramid in the North , cocoa in the West and palm oil and fish production booming in exportable quantities but today all these are history. The agricultural produce are not sufficient to feed the citizens talk more of exporting, because the government has put all it's attention to crude oil since from the late part of the 70s when oil was discovered in the country.

China, Ukraine, India, Russia, USA and many other countries are not feeling the intensity of this global inflation brought by the covid-19 pandemic because they have a diversified economy cushioning the effects of inflation in prices of foodstuffs especially. But this can't be said of those countries that economies depends on one source for their GDP growth. When the price of a barrel of crude oil falls the GDP is nakedly affected, and that's not how an economy grows in this 21C.

People need to wake the hell up, Vitalik created Ethereum, and because of this he won't dare ask me to provide my seed phrase, hell NO,  what the hell is wrong with people?

Vitalik Buterin has revealed how his account was hacked through a sim swap, a mistake he must have done maybe through  a kyc process in signing up on X formerly twitter.

This is why KYC is discouraged and frowned at because of the risk it can put you, exposing your data to any successful phishing attacks on these centralized companies or exchanges.

1051  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The power of influencials and brand ambassadors, don't fall for it. on: September 11, 2023, 09:31:49 PM
You won't ultimately blame these influencers and celebrities, they may not know if it's a scam project they are advertising or not, with the way it would be designed and presented to them that even with research done you still might not find a fault at that moment cause these scamming project are also good as fvck in covering their track. If the government are not declaring or raise an alarm that these projects as scam projects how will it be that the influencer who's just called to do an ambassadorial advert will know.

We have had had some managers in the forum manage scam projects like casinos, exchanges which at the beginning they never showed any signs of scam. And these managers I supposed must have done their own background study before accepting to manage those kind of projects only for it to turn out to be a scam project running away with users money and even leaving the repute of such Manager at risk.
1052  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 11, 2023, 07:39:51 PM
For countries that have laws that made gambling legal, it has some speculative age bracket given to it before you can start gambling. It is believed that at that age, your kind of reasoning should be matured, because for any decision you take, it's believe your well informed.
People's opinions will only be secondary. As a gambler, I'm conscious of myself, I discuss my gambling activities to my cycle of friends and I don't see anyone admonishing me, because I play responsible.

Besides that, you don't hide your gambling activities from your friends so that they can still monitor your gambling and see that you are still okay. If you start to lose control, they will immediately help you and ask you to leave the casino and do other things to reduce tension.
Do we know if these his cycle of friends are not gamblers too which means it will be hard to hear a fellow gambler admonish or criticize a other gambler about his gambling habit and that makes his comfortable in himself thinking he's a responsible gambler.  And with friends of same feather what will be a reason why he will wanna hide being a gambler,it's easy to hold conversations with them about your gambling life as you're sure you won't encounter disdain responses from them.

Why would Satoshi or Elon musk be requesting for my private keys I think that should be the first question that will pop from my head for me to quickly code that it's all coming from a scam attempt. How much coins do I even own that will be sufficient for these personalities that of all people in the universe I am the one they're chose to request for my private key through a PM.

When we also do take time to question ourselves about these categories of messages if received I think it will quick send a signal to us that this is scam in daylight so run. Even in Freetown there are no free things and athe vast scam attempts that has been successful were mainly those done on people who take liken to free things on the crypto space like airdrops,
virtual  mining and multiplers, ponzi scheme etc.

Funny how some forum members are asking admin to add more sub-board like Cybersecurity and NFTs to the forum and yet we have some that wants to remove some.
Topics about security belong to offtopic board.
Security is a subject discussed in all crypto space  so can anyone explain to my uncultured mind why security topics are subjected to offtopic board. Am aware a sub board for security is yet to be created but of all boards why should security topics belong to offtopic boards (is it that security is irrelevant).

I thought topics that belongs to offtopic boards are topics that are out of context to bitcoin or cryptocurrency.

There will be no new board for Cybersecurity and NFTs.
I don't give a heck about NFT's but security doesn't sit well belonging to offtopic board.

Instead of getting discouraged we can think of a compromise, I can give Nigerians LB about 150-200 merits per month, which means about 100 extra sMerit, just make a weekly list, PM me with it or through that thread and I'll look into it.

After about 3 to 6 months, if there is an improvement in the quality of the posts and the post/merit ratio, then you will have enough reason to claim a new source source with +200 Merit per month

1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON Qualifiers 2023 on: September 10, 2023, 08:55:30 PM

Victor Osimhen hattrick is my highlights of the game

A solid performance from the talisman striker Victor Osimhen who equal Rashid Yekini record of scoring 2 hatricks for the Super Eagles; and also one of the fastest to reach 20 goals for the super eagles team, with 20 goals in 26! Napoli owner will be very proud (remember he mentioned that 250M is too cheap for Victor Osimhen).

With the Nations cup coming soon; a triumph for Nigeria could spell an african best award for Victor Osimhen. Theres more to come from this super eagles team.
You are right, who knows what the nations cup will bring for Osimhen next year because I believe that his performance will be superb and he will make Nigeria go far because he is a world class striker. I knew it that as long as Osimhen will be in the match he must score a goal, but he went ahead to give me a hattrick.

I felt ashamed and disappointed at Sao Tome after bragging that they will win us at home. A country that just started learning football, no wonder they went back home with half a dozen of goals. Kudos to the super eagle of Nigeria for disgracing their opponent. The performance of the super eagle shows that there is hope for them winning the AFNC coming up next year.

@Frankolala in the game of football every team has what's called a bragging right it doesn't matter who your are up against you still need to keep your teams moral high as a coach, it's a psychological battle before that of the pitch where it then turn physical. And by standards Sao Tome is not within the range of  the Nigerian team so there's nothing to praise the super eagles so high about winning a team like Sao Tome, it was a walkover game for Nigeria even before it started and to me 6 goals is nothing compared to their last meeting which Nigeria won by 10 goals.  Winning Sao Tome doesn't guarantee a chance for Nigeria winning the AFNC next year, I can bet on that.
1058  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: ARE THEY MAKING MONEY FROM FLOOD? on: September 10, 2023, 08:19:00 PM
What has caused the increase in disastrous floods, and can't the government do something to mitigate the issue?
it.

Flood is a natural disaster. Not that some people intentionally caused flooding, but in the process of preventing flooding from occuring, and also saving lives during flooding, some people are provided with jobs and they are making money.
We know say flood nah natural disaster wey no be man the control am but e get measures wey the vital to take to stop this impending flood every year or to prevent am to get a very minimal effect on the citizens anytime e happen but people for government no wan do the vital tins like building of dam, network canals, dredging of some river basins but them don take the situation use open office for every one or two years as the floods com, billions will be budgeted to use provide flood materials for flood victims and foodstuffs etc etc. All that money na their pockets them dey put am.

Money that could have been used to solve the flood problem them prefer to use am the treat the effect of the flood each time the flood come. So in common sense there are people making money out of this recurring floods and not just say them dey work per say nah job something. Them just use the flood open office for their sef.
1059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling beginners must not joke with casino announcement on: September 10, 2023, 11:58:44 AM
A
If you want try them out then make sure that they have an announcement thread opened on the Bitcointalk forum, few new casinos made it to the forum and still turn scam, they are been dealt with by raising an alarm and red tagging their account, This spreads information all over the forum and outside the forum, at least many are saved from becoming the next victim.

Compare this to if the new casino has no Bitcointalk ANN, it will take time before many people know that the casino is already scamming their users, on the long run, the casino must have made a handful of money from scamming their customers.

Information is very vital when dealing with new online casinos this days.
If a new casino really mean business and wants to be taking serious by forum members they have to create an announcement thread that's the viable medium of communication between the casino and their potential users. Any casino that tries to invade the creation of ANN thread is practically sending a message that they are not meant to be trusted in that ANN threads are like reviews ground for every experience a users encounters using the casino. I won't dare test a new casino without an ANN in the forum because to me they don't mean business and it also shows they're don't plan staying long too.

As forum member I agree on your statement but we should consider too that the forum is not the only place for the casino to male an announcement. We are just one out of many forum which they can announce their service so there’s a chance that there’s a lot pf trusted casino out there that still doesn’t have Bitcointalk forum.

ANN thread feedback is not always accurate since some casino performs very trusted on early introductions here then later turns into scam which you might fall victim if you rely only on feedback on the thread without doing further research. You can combine the ANN thread to casino review site like Gosu to verify their performance and cross check if the feedback is match on the ratings of 3rd party reviewer.

It doesn't take a thing from them creating an ANN still in the bitcointalk forum just as they did in those others. Quite alright they may not be a scam casino just by not creating an ANN thread in the forums, but won't that give a wrong signal about them not valuing the patronage of bitcointalk forum members as they'd with those of other forums. Further research is also needed to be conducted about a new casino but nevertheless Ann announcement thread is the first and closest means of information to forum members and that's what makes it a necessity to be created .

What other funny and real betting exist like this you know of?
I can recall betting challenge to approach a lady and ask her out and this kind of bet is usually found among peers.

Quote
Would you try it out if you had the chance and resources to?
Nahh... I don't think I'll wanna do that, moreover am not a foodie so the idea doesn't impress me to put a cent on it.

Quote
What are your thoughts on the concept and initiative behind this idea.? Is it worth investing time and resources in?
Though not new to be as I had witness a food contest back in primary school end of year party, mehn one of the contestants got choked in the process and I couldn't stop laughing. I know some dudes who will want to jump on the idea but to me it's a waste of time and resources as it won't be continuously interesting to people as time goes on people might get bored with it.

Quote
Can we classify this betting on food eaters on who eats more or less within a time frame, as a sport?
It's nothing close to a sports game and I can't picture any precinct in sport it can fit in. You can call it a game of fun but not sports.
