1041  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your view on abortion? on: November 13, 2023, 05:17:42 PM

I believe that abortion before the 15th week of pregnancy should be a girl’s choice, since it has a very low probability of harming the girl. After week 15, I would give the choice to the doctor.
really?
Where then does the choice of the unborn child comes in? The  fact that you even bring up the matter regarding the safety of the mother should also let you know that the primary bearer of the brunt is the child that would be killed before ever knowing a thing about the world.

Have you considered the safety of the child?

I know the sympathy doesn't make much sense to some people since the child's face and presence is yet to be seen and felt by the society but that doesn't close up the fact that someone has to end his life before it even started because two people had fun and enjoyed themselves during the process that led to the conception of the child and another is to receive the punishment for the carelessness of other people.
1042  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: November 13, 2023, 04:53:49 PM
It is important we make this clarification so that new people going through this discussion will not think that investing in Bitcoin is that complicated because it isn't.  It is more of a mentality something after the financial aspect have been taken care of. By mentality, I'm referring to the ability to invest without fear, greed and the resolve to give the investment time to yield profits.
to be really frank, when I use to hear about bitcoin before joining the forum, there used to be this feeling of complexity attached to it and I never knew it's a simple thing that doesn't really involve much complex analysis before one can invest into bitcoin. I guess that's possibly the reason why some persons are afraid to invest in bitcoin because they look at it as one complex stuff that they will needd to take a whole bunch of time studying before they can get the basic knowledge that will guarantee proper investment
1043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every man you failed to lecture about Bitcoin can be a victim to scam on: November 13, 2023, 03:46:02 PM
Whenever someone come asking me about Bitcoin I sometimes look at them as another victim to scammer, at least before they learn, and that's even if they choose to stay after they get scammed, such category of people only know how to quit, I think this way because people only what to hear the good side of investment and not the bad and risky side.

Something happened to someone who is not very close, I remember he came to me asking me about Bitcoin and how to get involved, I remember it was a bad timing for me and I told him to go online and do his own research.

Now he is a victim to a WhatsApp group that opened a exchange and told him to invest through them, I never knew he had up to $3000 for investment, he never sound like someone who is ready to invest a lot and secondly I thought he was a time waster, now he can't withdraw his Bitcoin from the fake exchange.

I am thinking that leaving behind and not teaching people can make them a prey to scammers, if I have just thought him the right things about Bitcoin he might have not get scammed.

No matter how much you tell others to do their research about Bitcoin some are not very good at it, call it illiteracy or other but it is what it is, should we start turning those who are not so good at finding answers away? Is that the right thing to do? I don't even know why I am feeling bad for this person, I could have saved him though.
There is no better way to put this man!

No matter how detailed an article is, it can't be compared to you learning from someone who is already in the field. Even if a text is recommended to you as a guide containing all the information you need to get before getting started in Bitcoin, it can't be compared to you learning it from a fellow in the field of Bitcoin. And the reality is that the majority of the groups you see both on Facebook and WhatsApp is filled with loads of scammer that are looking for unsuspecting and naive individual to take advantage of, and it's very easy to get newbies that are eager to invest funds into bitcoin most especially when de already have the fund and have read or watched some clips regarding Bitcoin investment.

As long as the person is ready to learn and that you are able to teach the person, I don't see any big deal in guiding someone aright so he doesn't get into the wrong hands. And believe me, the person will always see you as a bad person whenever he remembers the money he lost because of your failure to put him through the basics of bitcoin. But it has happened and there is nothing you can do much about it.
1044  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: On security Nigeria died on: November 13, 2023, 03:27:58 PM
The success of every nation is a reflection of their security architecture. When the security apparatus is solid and in tandem with the vision of the founders of the nation, every other segment of the country will align. But when the security system, that is supposed to be an institution, is compromised, every other thing will fall apart; this is the case with Nigeria.

Nigeria's security institution is burdened with corruption; from the army to the police and virtually every arm of it. It is rather unfortunate that the top military hierarchy are just politicians in military uniforms. As it stand today, laws are made only for the poor because the rich are under the protection of the security forces who are ready to kill to protect them

It was so frustrating seeing that Nigerian police, the army and civil defense personnel played key role in rigging the 2023 General elections as they were practically involved in ballot box snatching, and even protected hoodlums that came to disrupt elections in many places. Furthermore, they watch INEC officials collude with thugs to change results of elections in many places. Now how do we make progress as a people when the security that is supposed to enforce laws and orders are the prime breakers of same laws?

We knew how several accusations have been raised by prominent Nigerians like T.Y. Danjuma that the security forces collude with terrorist and bandits to kill Nigerians. These are not just casual statements or speculations... the man is am authority in that area.

Until our security institution is reformed and made to stand for what they are supposed to, I don't see us making much progress as a people.
Let's understand the fact that the problem of Nigeria is not one you can just conclude from a single point of view like pointing blames on the military, the politician, the institutions, or any other segment of our society. One thing you should understand is that this office her not held by robots or foreigners, they are occupied by the same Nigerians who are complaining and will still complain about this faulty system that they are very much a part of.

The policeman who harasses the youth on the road still goes back home and insults the legislators for not doing their jobs properly.

The same youth that shout and chant on social media for a change in the types of leaders we elect as presidents and governorship are the same set of people that would be used by these same politicians as togs to rig the election and the ones that are left will receive peanut and forget everything they ones said about the politician. And then after a year, we continue the old chorus of things being hard and that our leaders are bad.

If we are truthful to ourselves, we already know that we are our number one problem in all the sectors where we shout and claim that corruption has eaten deep into.
1045  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Where you been dey when your mate they mine bitcoin? on: November 13, 2023, 02:35:12 PM
My people I great o. Abeg make ona no kill me for this talk wey I wan talk for here, I no say I never talk before for this  we local board, and the first time I dey talk come be rubish like this.

1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy on growth on: November 13, 2023, 05:57:41 AM
Hi all. How to buy more when growing? Today we are growing, but I don’t want to buy. Share your experience in this matter.
what do you mean by "how to buy what more"? Who are the we that are growing? I guess you should understand that a two line statement doesn't go a long way in passing the needed information to the public regarding what you are trying to pass across and you should put in the effort of passing your message in a detailed and understandable manner that will be easy for your reader to understand.

If what you're trying to say is that the price of bitcoin is increasing and that we should buy more of it, then I guess it makes more sense, although I doubt that it is necessary to be too focused on a sudden increase in bitcoin price before accumulating more Bitcoin rather than buying it when you have the needed resource at your disposal and hold on to it till times like this when the price is increasing.
1047  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: As bitcoin is rising what is your plans on: November 13, 2023, 05:31:53 AM
When you check you will see that bitcoin price is rising day and night and what price do you think that will be maximum price of bitcoin this year and before we enters 2024, and again what will you advice people to do as the price of bitcoin is increasing, will you advice people to buy now or will you tell people around your neighbourhood who is lovers of bitcoin to wait until the price is down before you buy bitcoin, as a cryptocurrency investors I will like you to make sure you have drop your own suggestion of the price poll of bitcoin this ending of year 2023 December 31st
If you have the financial resource and you see price of goods increasing in the market, would you wait till the peak of the increase in price before buying the goods or you will rather buy it now and keep it so when the price finally hits very high, you can be very relaxed because you know that you've made the right decision of buying early?

When it comes to the decision on when best to buy bitcoin, it isn't a rocket science but just like the analogy I just gave now and in the first place, you shouldn't wait until you see the price I bitcoin increasing to a certain amount before thinking of acquiring it, it doesn't make you a good investor that knows how to cease opportunity. The real deal is to buy bitcoin when it price is very low and patiently wait till it price shoots up, it's as simple as this but if you are not ready for it, no matter the amount I threads created regarding this or the amount of replies you get on this question you just asked, you will still not buy it.
1048  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Useful information for Nigerian newbies on: November 13, 2023, 05:19:58 AM
This is a very helpful compilation of key information for not just newbies but people of my kind. I have been looking and wondering on how to go about making a thread that contains image but didn't see any option requiring me to directly upload an image from my device and so I just randomly assumed that I needed to rank up to full member before I would be able to create threads containing an image. But with this link https://www.talkimg.com/ it just brightened my day and I guess I just added another knowledge to my library of information in the forum.

I just want to also add that you should have given a detailed explanation on steps involved in uploading the image because when I clicked on the link and uploaded a random image just to know how it all works, I was afraid when I saw "uploaded" and didn't know the particular place the image was uploaded to. I guess you should have added that we need to copy the link and add it to our post and then preview it before posting it. But thanks for the information, it really helped.
1049  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto scammer caught and arraigned by EFCC. on: November 12, 2023, 11:24:33 AM
Nigerian court don convict one man wey pretend to be a peer-to-peer (p2p) cryptocurrency trader wit  social media platform him create using a female name to de scam unsuspecting public pipul wey wan try gain interest for crypto wey we dey normally call dem newbies.

Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) nah catch de go court com nack am charge borderin on cybercrime and de man agree say him guilty as charged.  According to the scamma him tok say him don achieve wella from dis illegal buzinex for monie wey reach $2000 from him victims. Na so court com sentence am to a fine of #200,000.00 (two hundred thousand naira). Source

To newbies as u don enta dis crypto space mk unah shine unah eyes no allow or agree to anybodi com de tell you or advise you to join any platform say nah buzinex investment lik dat, say e dey pay well, com de show you nonsense evidence how e don pay am - oyinbo man call dis type of scam as Pig-Butchering-Scam.

De meanin of dat gramma be say, scamma go first tok to u lik beta person com create cordial relationship wit u about some buzinex com de tune you to invest say you go catch out, and dem fit allow you catch out ur first monie you put just to mk you feel comfortable so dat you fit invest bigger amount for de next one, nah dat time dem go scam you com jakpa wit ur investment monie. So mk we dey careful as we de use crypto mk we no com fall scam anyhow.
this na one of the reason when de make people loose interest for any online investment platform as the rate when scammers take de full there don become very alarming. And this one too fully for the reason when we make all this security people de intimidate an average person when he hustle legally online because the bad ones don full the space and de done create bad reputation full ground and so even when you de try to let most of this law enforcement agency know say your hustle legit, them no go free hear am as there mind don de made up say any person when he do online business de into fraudulent stuff.

As e be now person go fit buy data take dey do online hustle, stay updated on Bitcoin matter
Chairman well-done for the update but I think it's not necessary to bring the topic here as the board is currently under massive watch and we are letting users know on their post quality here on the LB to make the board stand out. Although I understand the fact that we all want to pass information but we should try as much as possible to make it relate to Bitcoin or crypto related stuffs.
normally the thread de off topic but I feel say since you know say men mount around when de choke eyes for the board, as you wan advice am about this matter, you for use pigin take knack your reply so the info for just de on a kum kum and na only we go know wetin you de try put across to the OP.
But as I don yarn that one so, make I also follow put mouth say make we de put effort so our thread go de related to Bitcoin and even if we wan create post when go de a bit off, make e be more of government regulations when go affect bitcoin either positively or negatively or make the post get small relationship with Bitcoin either from the topic or the body of the thread.
1051  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Simple Yet Powerful Message That Will Always Hold True on: November 12, 2023, 05:28:00 AM
If you do not learn from the experience of others you would definitely have your own bitter experience where learning would be inevitable. The instructions on how to keep your bitcoins safe is so simple yet there are people who lose it because of their greed, their lack of attention to details, just plain laziness which may include, keeping your private key carelessness, drawing unwanted attention to your self in public as Bitcoin investor thereby making yourself a target and so on.
No doubt,  the most important thing most often times looks too simple to us and will just joke with it until it gets us in trouble and within split seconds our sense of reasoning comes back to us and we now start crying,"if I hard known, I would have kept my keys safe right from the outset.

I still remember that when I opened my first wallet, I was too lazy to write out my passphrase but instead, I thought of making a screenshot of it and then I thought of the fact that I could misplace my phone or that my phone might be stolen by fraudulent people that will easily recognized my passphrase and will drain out whatever bitcoin I have accumulated so far. I had to get up immediately, take up a pen and I wrote down my passphrase and ensured that I kept it as secured as my other important documents.
1052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much money can you make by investing in Bitcoin? on: November 12, 2023, 05:00:26 AM
Bitcoin is one of the most popular and in-demand coins in the cryptocurrency market. Many are investing on this Bitcoin and even many are investing. When Bitcoin was created, the price of this coin was very low and gradually as time passed, the demand and price of this coin increased. I wish that I invest bitcoins but unfortunately I don't have any bitcoins and don't know how to acquire it. Is investing in Bitcoin easy or complicated? Is it possible to achieve success by investing in Bitcoin? The main thing is how one can earn if he invests in Bitcoin and if he stays for a long time.

i guess with the numerous contribution you've been given so far, you should be in the best position of making the right decision of buying Bitcoin now with what whatever amount that will give you the mind not to look at your Bitcoin for a while. As you do this, know that buying bitcoin is not a Punzi scheme or something that will just guarantee your financial freedom overnight. You should see it as your investment that will yield profit in the long run so you don't get carried away by whatever fluctuations you see in the price of Bitcoin and decide to sell it out in times of minor financial challenges. If you've accumulated bitcoin, you just continue what your normal business and follow up discussions in the forum and with time, you will be happy you made such decision.
1053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should we rely on prediction? on: November 11, 2023, 09:51:45 PM
Let me say since the beginning of this year we have been getting different prediction on Bitcoin prizes and investors too have been keeping their hopes very high on those predictions...

Those doing these predictions are having so much expectations and they said, Bitcoin will recover to $25k in 2024 and then rise to $45k in 2025 them by 2030 Bitcoin will get to $69k. Other crypto analysts suggest even higher price targets ranging from $100,000 to $1 million, but we should keep in mind that all Bitcoin forecasts are predictions. CLICK HERE

With all these being said I feel is time we face the reality that all these are just predictions, is under probability.
the fact that you are seeing prediction flying here and there is a strong message that you should accumulate more bitcoin and hodl it. There is no two ways about it. The prediction might be wrong or right but have you considered a situation where the price of bitcoin goes that high as soeculated but you didn't accumulate a single bitcoin? Also know that what you call speculation is a product of an in-depth analysis from expert in the industry and it's not just a random statement from anybody.
1054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling? on: November 11, 2023, 09:36:47 PM
Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling? Many here will feel that this is waste of time and will also not let them enjoy the game peacefully. Do you also have same mentality?
ideally, it might sound reasonable to keep such record and review it on a weekly or monthly bases but in in real life, I doubt most people will even want to do that.
But I feel that this will go a very long way in ensuring responsible gambling as you can just go through your gambling history to check of you are being addicted to gambling or not. And yes, it will take away the fun aspect of gambling because for those that just gamble for the sake of fun, it will make them look like they are working because of the seriousness in taking audit of every game played as well as those lost or won
1055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what if bitcoin becomes inferior on: November 11, 2023, 09:22:40 PM
I looked for traces of Satoshi on the Internet. I've read all of his posts since 2009. He is sublime. If you read his writing, you can feel his passion. I have a little bit of bitcoin. I'm pretty relieved just to have Bitcoin. But if you look back at history.. Yahoo lost to Google. Yahoo was great, but Google was even better. Satoshi gave us a gift called Bitcoin without any greed and went somewhere. The problem is, new geniuses are born all the time, and technology advances. Bitcoin is not physics. It's blockchain technology. Which means that bitcoin is not an immutable law. A better technology than Bitcoin could emerge. What should we do if someone gives us a better system than bitcoin as a gift and leaves? It performs better than Bitcoin, and it even has the perfect decentralization of Bitcoin, which we value highly. Bitcoin was created in 2009, and now it's 2023. Cars made in 2009 cannot be better than cars made in 2023 or later. What if someone with as much genius and passion as Satoshi is creating a system better than Bitcoin?
enough of the what if this or what if that kind of question. What if it doesn't happen? The truth is that change is a normal occurrence and if it makes things easier and provides a better way of doing things, I don't think a wise and reasonable person will close his eyes to such changes. No one is saying because bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency no other cryptocurrency should exist. You should know that there are many altcoins here and there and no one is condemning or wishing it bad but it becomes bad and seriously unnecessary to want to suggest that bitcoin should go into extinction before there is a high probability of a new technology that will replace or become better than bitcoin.
1056  Other / Politics & Society / Re: War and conflict on: November 11, 2023, 09:10:39 PM
Before now, we've read and heard stories of wars that I feel might even be worse off compared to what you are seeing today. If you a religious person or you have ever read the Bible, you will find cases of serious wars that lead to the complete killing of a whole nation including children, woman and pregnant women. There had been cases when some persons received punishment because they refuse to whip up the whole nation but spared some people for reasons best known to them. This goes to show that war is not a new thing but just a continuation of what had existed before we even joined the world.

The part that scarce me the most is how the value for human lives has dropped this much that killing has become a normal headline in most of our media outlet and what you see is more of figure with or no emphasises placed on it to indicate that this is actually peoples lives that is being taken away from the mostly what they know nothing about.
1057  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your view on abortion? on: November 11, 2023, 08:58:42 PM
While Some don't even see it as anything bad, some feel undergoing abortion is same as taking a life and the culprit should be subject to punishment.

With so many thought process regarding this topic, whats your take on abortion?

It has to be legal otherwise you will find dead children in the dumpster  Roll Eyes
in countries were it isn't legal, people still throw there children in the dumpster and I feel at this point that it is not just on the legality or illegality part of abortion that will stop people from indulging in it, as long as your conscience doesn't condemn you, most people will do it as easy as possible without having a second thought on it.

I also understands some peoples reason regarding the notion that it his better to abort a child than  to kill people during wars because the rate of killing going on in the world at the moment is becoming seriously alarming but even with this high rate of killing, I still feel that it isn't a moral justification to support those normalizing abortion as a normal way of life.
1058  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: November 11, 2023, 08:31:47 PM
I often read people saying they want to earn enough money so they don't have to look at price tag of product. Imo, even if you are rich you wouldn't want to spend money on things that are not worthy of price being paid.

You wanna look at product and then it's price, if it's worthy of price, you purchase the product.
those are the kind of people that will be rich today and within some months to come, they have gone back to being poor with there final status being worse off  than they had been. No amount of money should make you reckless to the point of not knowing how much you are spending on purchasing a goo. As a matter of fact, if you earned the money legitimately, you wouldn't think of squandering it just like that. Even if the money is too much, what happens to starting up a new business with a deliberately giving it out to those in need. Don't mind poor people, there idea about the rich is so faulty that they even assume that the rich got those wealth by being unwise.
1059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Things to avoid as a beginner on: November 11, 2023, 08:20:44 PM

Thanks to merit system that users cannot climb up the ranking just by count of posts and activity as merit is required because I have seen people used to make numerous posts even single or two worded to climb the ladder of the ranks before merit was made mandatory for ranking system.

I kind of like the merit system and how it all works as it encourages and help people to get intentional regarding the kind of topics and contribution that is coming from there end. I believe that if you organically build your account from newbie into a full member, it should call for respect and celebration because it is an indication of your positive contribution to the forum. Whoever I receive any merit for making any contribution in the forum, it gives me this sense if fulfilment that I am headed in the right direction and will also encourage me to do better.
1060  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Enjoy being a newbie on: November 11, 2023, 08:07:31 PM
Life is in phase and whatever you fail to do at a step before climbing to another will hunt you and demand you to fix it with additional stress and time. Just like the OP said, as newbie, enjoy being a newbie. Do the things newbies should be doing, don't rush into faking it just to measure up with members or full members. Don't sleep process, use this period to learn the basics ad it will guide you to stand out as you continue to grow in the forum.

It's just like a little child that is supposed to be learning things from elders trying to prove to his elder that he already knows it, no one will be willing to teach him. A man made this statement and I think it has great application to what you just said here, the man said, never try to speak or show off when your superior is educating you about something, it is a disrespect to him and will hinder him from telling you more. Instead being like you are totally ignorant and he will dish out more information for you".
