Any news on the bootstrap?
My wallet has still 2 years of sync to do.

As said before, I have my doubts that we will be able to create a bootstrap that works for everyone on every platform. It should work with the -loadblock parameter that I posted (at least, that's what I have tested for myself with testbugs bootstrap).

Some coins have a -detachdb commandline switch for the daemon, that allows to create bootstrap-able copies of the chain - our wallet misses that currently. I can't say if that's the cause for your troubles or not but I create regular bootstraps for another coin with that feature and never had any issues or complaints so far so I am concluding that is a factor.

Anyway, if the -loadblock doesn't work for you, you are probaly left with the choice of synching from network - which I believe should be much faster than you seem to experience currently. I would rather try to find out why synching is so slow for you and improve that for everybody instead of further doing blindshots with huge bootstraps blobs.

Would you mind to PM me the complete output of getpeerinfo from your wallets debug console and also an estimated rate of how many blocks you see downloaded per minute (just to get an idea and comparison with the speed I am seeing when synching from scratch)? Also maybe the rough spec of your machine (RAM, CPU type).

Any one tell me how to become TIPS node?
Installed -qt, sync ok, but in peer list not found !!

to psycodad: look up diff change in pool! TIP is coming to achille of doge by mining stup..

Every wallet is a node as it is, but for example wallets behind firewalls that do not forward incoming connections (i.e. via UPNP) create only 8 outgoing connections which is more than enough for normal wallet operation but is probably not what you look for to support the network for others to  synch faster (from you).
Wenn running on a private IP (i.e. behind a firewall) either make sure UPNP works for your PC or just statically forward the TIPS network port(44890/tcp) from your firewall to your wallet PCs IP addresss.

For an easy check to see if you are accepting incoming connections from others check how many connections you have in the wallet, if it is more than 8 you are accepting incoming connections, just be patient and see the number of connections grow to over 30-50. If it sticks at 8, you are probably not. More hints are in the debug console with the command "getpeerinfo", it tells you for every peer if the connection is incoming or outgoing - make sure you start to see connections with "inbound" : true.

Yep, just realised the jump that hashrate (and diff) made the last days - we went from solid 4-6Ghs to almost 40Ghs right now.
The current difficulty keeps profit pools from switching in completely - in multipool speak TIPS is currently not profitable. That people mine the coin when it has a difficulty over profitability means probably something. Either people in the know about something we don't, people commited to TIPS (yeah!) or miners that are unable to calculate current profits :-) My personal bet is on 1 or 2.
In any case the activity and volume on Coinexchanges DOGE/TIPS market is very encouraging.

Ok so the plan is to get listed on Cryptopia and hire John McAfee's tweeting services   Tongue

Dev should start a crowdfund for cryptopia fee imo

Also, we should look at implementing anonymous transactions in one manner or the other.

What do you all think? Merry Xmas Eve to all

Unlikely that Cryptopia will relist TIPS, they have delisted it in July 2017 and refused to re-list even though they have been offered to cover their losses from double-spending.

I was unaware of such an issue. I knew there was a fork but not that double spending occured? How great were their losses? What is the known extent of the double spends?

I believe to remember that Cryptopia lost around 60mio TIPS on the old chain through double-spent deposits.
For a more complete picture about what happened back then, please check the hardfork FAQ in the OP.

I have exchanged a few mails with them around that issue but they insisted their decision to delist was final. It has to be noted in defense of Cryptopias that TIPS was pumping back then when the attack occured and the price was at times in the hundreds of Litoshi.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Copper coin on: December 25, 2017, 01:53:26 PM
What is a Copper coin?

Coins made of copper. I still have a few of them in my drawer.

Just kidding. They might be talking about http://coppercoin.net/

A scrypt coin that's probably dying before hitting an exchange.

Reports about the death of coppercoin are greatly exaggerated.

It's listed on Cryptopia and doing fine atm.

EXCHANGE STATUS UPDATE

- The following "Exchange Listing Request" has been submitted to COINEXCHANGE.io

Hi,

I'm the Project Manager for Project Bitmark (BTM).

- My name is Victor (a.k.a Medic_007 on our Slack).
- Our Lead Developers are Melvin Carvalho & DBKeys

I understand that y'all have been oin contact with the team and perhaps are willing to negotiate the amount of BTC required for listing...We have BTC ready transfer as soon as we get the okay from y'all.

We would like to collaborate with the COINEXCHANGE.IO Team and continue moving forward with our developments. What are the necessary steps to get Bitmark Listed. Furthermore, we are looking to discuss opportunities where our teams can work together and continue the development of our unique online reputation system "Marking". Marking was largely successful when it was deployed within the Poloniex Trollbox, and our next updates will provide a framework & passport for our Marking system to scale as an online reputation system.

What requirements does the Bitmark Team need to meet, in-order to get the Bitmark Wallet Listed on COINEXCHANGE.io?

Lastly, what would y'all consider to be a reasonable timeline for this?

Cheers,
Project Bitmark Leadership Team:
Victor Alejandro - Project Manager
Melvin Carvalho - Lead Developer
DBKeys - Development Team Lead

Are there any news or even better an ETA regarding the coinexchange listing request that you could share with us?

Thanks and Merry Christmas btw to all Bitmarkers!

You are running into PHP errors (White Screen of Death) as you have not setup the coin daemon correctly. Please recheck your config file or send me a PM and I'd be willing to help out at a reasonable rate.

Idk maybe delete it all and try again, sometimes blockchains want to be pouty and refuse to sync. Just unzip bootstrap and place in the appdata folder. Should work,
I tried it multiple times without succes. It says: loading block index for about 10sec and then it gives the error: Incorrect or no genesis block found. Wron datadir for network?

This bootstap from testbug cannot just be copied into the folder but try placing extracting the archive somewhere else on your disk and then start the wallet with

Code:
fedoracoin-qt.exe -loadblock=<path-to-your-bootstrap-downloadfolder>/blocks/blk*.dat

On a moderately recent pc it should import the full chain in less than 20-30min.

HTH

Thank u for your reply.
I tried this but it doesn't seem to do anything.
I've put this in a cmd file: fedoracoin-qt.exe -loadblock=C:\Fedorablockchain\FedoraCoin\blocks\blk*.dat
The wallet starts but it is just syncronising like always.

How can i see if it's working?

Kind regards

You can check the debug.log in your fedoracoin folder, maybe you would need to reopen it to see new lines.
The above command does import the blockchain from the bootstrap files, it doesn't use them directly as when you copy them inside (which doesn't seem to work). This means in the wallet it looks like normal synching, but should be a good tad faster.

HTH

1050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Charlie Lee sold off his LTC. Interesting on: December 20, 2017, 11:52:28 AM
How would that impact price and confidence of Litecoins?

It’s quite strange. People saying he thinks it’ll fall so he’s out to not lose cash.
But as Charlie said in his post he's selling so that he's more able to support LTC.
I still believe in him and keep support by LTC and you?

That move certainly makes coblee one of the more if not most noble and honourable minds in the crypto screne of today.

is this coin dead?
It's been brought back to live several times but it's nothing tangible keeping it alive. Just pump and dump schemes. This coin has a very large supply and was brought to fame mostly thanks to dogecoin, but never had a real market to support it.

so, do you think I should hold on to this coin or nah?

First of all you should check the current thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1420302, this one is unmaintained.
1054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC]CasinoCoin ♠ A Digital Currency For The Regulated Online Gaming Sector on: December 17, 2017, 10:22:05 AM
Still have ~140k CSC to sell.
Current asking price 2500 SAT (negotiable).

PM if interested. Thanks.

You can try posting in our discord as well, quite a few traders in there.

Thank you, but one of the main reasons why I want to get out of CSC completely is exactly because of its use of discord as sole information channel. (The other being that I don't want to get into ripple based blockchains, because I lack the time and interest to do so).

I am not able to join discord after multiple tries without verifying by phone and I really see zero reasons why they'd need my mobile or any other phone number.

That said, anybody referring a buyer to me for my stash is going to get a tip from me, say 1% of what is being sold.

So you want to do arbitrage between coinex and yobit.

Yobits GRE wallet has never been updated and is disabled since literally years.
Coinexchange.io has the new wallet but it is in maintenance since a noteable timespan while the coin seems working fine.
1057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Slimcoin | First Proof of Burn currency | New v0.5.1 binaries on: November 28, 2017, 02:02:20 PM
I mean network hashrate is slashed by half, and there are less nodes, thus I think network isn't so secure as it was when nova wasnt closing down. I mean now network is 1.4-2.2mh/s, and 2 months ago it was like 3-5mh/s.
Network strength is important aspect of cryptocurrency, imo.

The network hashrate reflects mostly the price on the market, i.e. is it worth to mine a block, do I get my power cost at least returned.
Now that there will be no price to rely on for calculations only enthusiasts are left mining/staking/burning. It is now easier to launch a 51% attack on the chain but you can't sell what you get or elsewise said, the reward for such a stunt is lower. Also if you can afford the coins and hashrate that would be needed for 51% attack now, you are likely to be able to do that also if the hash rate is double as high.

Though keep in mind, it is not about PoW hash only, PoB and PoS further secure this chain against a 51% attack, so I would say the temporary decline on hash rate doesn't mean the chain is less secure - I'd rather look at it as a situation where newcomers can again mine a block or two to start staking and burning.

Bittrex has become a nonsense gong show anyway, wouldn't waste my time with them anymore. They have gone so much TITSUP (Total Inability To Support Users Problems) lately that I wouldn't use them any more in the near future. Slimcoin should be IMHO on a small and fine exchange like Nova it was (it is not clear yet if the new owner take over platform and users) or decentralized exchanges which would suit the spirit of crypto currencies much better anyway.

WTS 34000 coins @ 4500sat.
Alcurex is back open for Deposits/Withdrawals if you didn't know.

Thank you for the heads-up, didn't notice. Thought it would stay closed until swap is done.

Why wouldn't you mine them?

I'll give 200,000 TIPs bounty for someone to update the logo with the new domain name:
http://fedoracoin.top/
(First one with a quality logo)

Thanks for that bounty, great idea. I'll increase that bounty by 1.8 Mio to 2Mio TIPS for a new quality logo.
