10401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Version 0.6.0 released on: April 05, 2012, 09:51:54 PM
Any issues upgrading or can I just install and open w/o loss?

You can just install but always (on this ver or any verion) make a backup of wallet.dat before upgrading.
10402  Economy / Lending / Re: I am looking to borrow 15,000 BTC to expand my current bussiness. on: April 05, 2012, 09:41:56 PM
I wonder how many other places I can get 15% compounded annually.  You would do a straight USD loan?

Propser and LendingClub.

Of course default rates are in the asinine range because obviously anyone more credit worthy would be getting a lower rate.
10403  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: A proposed solution to adjust for lost Bitcoins: wallet 'heartbeats' on: April 05, 2012, 09:39:32 PM
A mighty wizard we need to put a powerfull anti-resurrection spell a on this forums.

I mean all the ancient magical topics get revived over and over and over again by young, foolish necromancers. We can't have this kind of power roaming freely the middle-earth. It may awaken the dead from their graves !

Just integrate Bitcoins (the solution to everything).  Topics older than 30 days become locked.  A bot puts a final locking post on the thread w/ a revive Bitcoin address.  The cost to revive is (days since last post - 30)^2  / 100 BTC.    The spell cost will keep younger wizards out of trouble (unless they have deep wallets). Variance and stuff (the answers to anything BTC related).
10405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Problem With Simplecoin Frontend BTC Bounty Upped from .003 to 0.15610457 on: April 05, 2012, 09:35:02 PM
You do realize that 0.03 BTC is worth about 15 cents.  Kinda insulting to even offer a bounty that low.
If you don't have more than 15 cents to invest I would recommend against trying to create a new mining pool.

No I am not looking for a larger bounty just pointing out the lunacy of it.
10406  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: April 05, 2012, 09:32:38 PM
Network hashrate is still at ~11-11.5GH excluding the badluck, I dont think that Mystery miner is gone unless some other mysterious 1-1.5TH user replaced him.

Oh I forgot to tell everyone.  My 30 BFL Rig Boxes finally arrived and I just happened to power them up on 1 April.
10407  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: April 05, 2012, 09:09:26 PM
Still no payout...    Undecided

I think I should probably make my own thread about this.

Any ideas?  Here is my p2pool screen,

http://s15.postimage.org/q8wmowu6z/p2pool.png

This isn't the right thread but you are creating incompatible shares/blocks and thus are on the minority fork of p2pool.    There was an April 1 deadline for all miners to be p2sh compatible.  You aren't.  You need to upgrade your bitcoind and p2pool to the latest version.

All your blocks are being orphaned because you are producing invalid worthless work.

This isn't the right thread but you are creating incompatible shares/blocks and thus are on the minority fork of p2pool (w/ all the other obsolete miners).

Notice the entire pool hashrate is <12GH/s.  p2pool is 360GH/s.

There was an April 1 deadline for all miners to be p2sh compatible.  You aren't.  You need to upgrade your bitcoind and p2pool to the latest version.

All your blocks are being orphaned because you are producing invalid worthless work.  Until you upgrade you will continue to produce worthless incompatible blocks.

If you need more help check p2pool thread as this isn't a BAMT issue.  It is a miner negligence issue.
10408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7970 undervolting on: April 05, 2012, 09:05:05 PM
85% efficiency?  Get a better PSU.

Also would be nice if you have/get a Kill-A-Watt so you can compare calculated load @ wall w/ actual load at wall.

Very interesting. Also interested in the actual load as I don't believe the input power for the memory, while tiny, is included. Might be time to pick up a used 7970 myself.

Does not matter.  Voltage is read going into the card as well as the amperage.  Memory voltage is drawn off that main voltage.

Of course it matters.  The recorded CURRENT is VDDC which does not power the memory (or I/O).  A separate VRM provides CURRENT for memory, a third provides voltage for IO functions.    While the voltage remains the same without knowning the VDDCI & MVDDC current you don't know entire card consumption.

Total Power Consumption = Voltage * (VDDC current + VDDCI current + MVDDC current)

I haven't done a gitpull but using latest released version my graphs didn't clear.
10410  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 05, 2012, 08:30:11 PM
Well you said TIME that confused me.  Your right the length vs expected can be used but that is because it is already adjusted for what matters (hashes observed vs hashes expected).

Not sure where you are getting 400 observations.  p2pool has only found 275 blocks?

Lastly the length of block isn't a normal distribution.  It is an exponential one.

Still even using incorrect 400 observation, incorrect assumption of a normal distribution I have no idea how you determined confidence interval is ~99% to ~101% over 400 blocks.  I even tried to make mistakes and math just doesn't add up.
10411  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 05, 2012, 08:08:35 PM
The standard deviation (s) can be easily calculated from the time of calculation blocks given on p2pool.info (Recent Blocks).
You can't use time.  You must use hashes and difficulty.  The avg length of a block (and expected length of a block) depends only on # of hashes and difficulty.  Technically even then there will be minor error when blocks cross over difficulty changes but it should be minimal or those blocks could be excluded.

Expected length = (2^32)(difficulty) in hashes.

To get std deviation you need the actual length of each block in hashes.
10412  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 05, 2012, 08:05:20 PM
BTW in last 7 days there was 2 orphaned blocks.
Why they are invisible, they should be crossed out.

They weren't produced by the main fork of p2pool.
10413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Evil of religion, and investment into IBB, Islamic Bitcoin Bank on: April 05, 2012, 07:46:10 PM
Your clueless.

Freedom is freedom.  Even the freedom for other "scary people" to do things you disagree with.

If you think religion is bad you convince people of that fact.  If you can't then your freedom doesn't extend to forcing them to stop.  It is a pretty simple concept.  Compelling a change from the barrel of a gun isn't freedom.

So as a person protecting freedom, I'm voting for a war against Iran, to dissolve the religious government.

LOLZ.   Let me guess it won't be you that goes over there and comes back in a body bag right?  Just someone else.  I was that "someone else" in the US last grand crusade.  Tell you what you enlist, infantry, and THEN advocate for a war with Iran knowing you will be on the front lines and your words may be more than just hypocritical nonsense.

I hope that bitcoin will not be used to promote religion, or socialism, or altruism.  If you think I'm crazy for saying that, please make sure that you are familiar with the links I posted.

Bitcoin is a currency.  It has no moral compass.  Even if we accept your premise that Islam is evil, Bitcoin has (or eventually will if successful enough) be used to fund/promote just about every evil thing imaginable.  Violence, hate speech, human slavery, racial violence, child prostitution, terrorism, , organized crime, religious wars, drug cartels, hate crimes, illegal weapons sales, ransoms, piracy, etc.  You name it if it is evil Bitcoin will eventually fund it.

Of course so has dollars.

I know that there people who are very strongly subscribe to the Islamic dogma, and who get just as strongly offeneded if they hear anything against it. I'm sorry to offend you, but this is the truth.

I am not a Muslim and you don't offend me.  You are just an idiot.

Once the value message is created by the Sender's MintChip, the MintChip's balance is decreased by the corresponding value. This transaction is irrevocable. The Sender cannot stop or cancel the transaction after the value message has been created.

We can't buy bitcoins with PayPal or Credit Card because it's almost impossible ,or very very costly, to connect reversible and irreversible payment systems. Looks like developers of MintChip don't know that yet.

Well three possible outcomes:
a) they crash and burn because it honestly is a real difficulty problem.
b) they figure it out and we copy them.
c) they figure it out but we can't copy them so we buy BTC with MintChips.

Honestly I think a is going to happen but any of the three is a win.

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

LOLZ.
10416  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: April 05, 2012, 07:15:30 PM
so you can still mine empty block or not ?

Yes.  There has been no protocol change which prohibits empty blocks.
10417  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 05, 2012, 07:14:02 PM
What is your calculation for s ?
Standard Deviation for block length (in hashes) is likely much larger than you think.
10418  Economy / Goods / Re: DISCOUNT AMAZON CODES FOR SALE 20% DISCOUNT, not! on: April 05, 2012, 06:49:53 PM
Yeah, I am a scammer. You keep thinking that.

Even i the codes are 100% legit if you take payment and don't deliver you are a scammer and deserve the scammer tag.

You admit he paid you.
You admit you haven't given him a code.
You admit you haven't given him a refund.
10419  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 05, 2012, 06:46:02 PM
Within three months the probability of 400 samples should be at 99.56% (99.56% - 100.04%).
We have 90.6%.
This is an obvious bug.
No luck for so long demonstrates the mathematical inconsistency of assumptions.
I'm sorry, but leave the project.
I hope not for long.

Well you are free to leave but your math and thus the assumption based on it is flawed.
10420  Economy / Goods / Re: DISCOUNT AMAZON CODES FOR SALE 20% DISCOUNT, not! on: April 05, 2012, 05:49:34 PM
I am not trying to get him to send me anything. I was testing a theory and I got what I was looking for. The make believe PM he typed up should not be believed. newdude = BTC Guy. You have been warned.

Flip making claims without proof is not a good idea.  Show your proof or stop making claims.

When you said they had the same IP address I figured you had some skill and put a tracking image in each of the PMs which was picked up by the same IP address.  Now it is obvious you have no skill.
