This needs to be filled in:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hodl

Also, is it just me or is the forum more 502ey than usual right now?

SUBMITTED with OP explanation:

"I type d that tyitle twice because I knew it was wrong the first time.  Still wrong.  w/e.  GF's out at a lesbian bar, BTC crashing WHY AM I HOLDING? I'LL TELL YOU WHY.  It's because I'm a bad trader and I KNOW I'M A BAD TRADER.  Yeah you good traders can spot the highs and the lows pit pat piffy wing wong wang just like that and make a millino bucks sure no problem bro.  Likewise the weak hands are like OH NO IT'S GOING DOWN I'M GONNA SELL he he he and then they're like OH GOD MY ASSHOLE when the SMART traders who KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING buy back in but you know what?  I'm not part of that group.  When the traders buy back in I'm already part of the market capital so GUESS WHO YOU'RE CHEATING day traders NOT ME~!  Those taunt threads saying "OHH YOU SHOULD HAVE SOLD" YEAH NO SHIT.  NO SHIT I SHOULD HAVE SOLD.  I SHOULD HAVE SOLD MOMENTS BEFORE EVERY SELL AND BOUGHT MOMENTS BEFORE EVERY BUY BUT YOU KNOW WHAT NOT EVERYBODY IS AS COOL AS YOU.  You only sell in a bear market if you are a good day trader or an illusioned noob.  The people inbetween hold.  In a zero-sum game such as this, traders can only take your money if you sell.

so i've had some whiskey
actually on the bottle it's spelled whisky
w/e
sue me
(but only if it's payable in BTC)"

OK, so I'm thinking... another shot? Smiley

EDIT: Everyone here is learning, and no one has it easy. Certainly, it can be very stressful, but there's clearly a lot of money to be made. Most folks would probably suggest learning to trade with 1/20th or less of your capital at first, especially if you find it too stressful/difficult/a losing proposition. There's too much else I could say, so I'll just suggest that this is a good opportunity to learn, and in the next couple of years, you should be able to find a strategy that works for *you*, and make good money. You'll need to learn and be patient. I'm sure others could be more helpful than these few words-- but, you're not alone. Cheers, buddy. Smiley

Well taken -- tho OP's post is 1st on this EPIC thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0

Now Urban Dicktionary is refusing to publish HODL:
hodl

v. to resist buying or selling bitcoins.

Predominantly used among bitcoin traders, esp. during periods of volatility. Alternate meanings given are "Hold On for Dear Life" and "Hold On to Da Loot).

orig. mentioned in a bitcoin trading forum on Dec 18, 2013

No matter how crazy it gets on the bitcoin rollercoaster, I am hodling.

I don''t always buy bitcoin, but when I do, I am hodling it.

HODL!

shit peoples know the secret!

ahhh PUMP AND HODL!!!!!!!!!!
10450  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 20, 2013, 03:15:40 AM
The only news coming out of China is that BTC crossed over 4000 again

in what universe?

10451  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 20, 2013, 03:07:33 AM
Wow someone just overpaid for those coins Cheesy

Did they know the wall owner bought them at "discount" Wink

My concern is both the wall and the wall eater are trying to pump (edit: they're the same person, was my point)... so, guess what... they can dump. The purchase was across all exchanges, around 2k total. Batten the hatches folks, steady the main.

My concern is everyone will pump and then HODL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Cheesy
10452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 20, 2013, 03:00:30 AM

10455  Economy / Speculation / Re: THESE MARKETS on: December 19, 2013, 11:48:15 PM
Angry Angry Angry

You know that feeling? When the market knows what you're doing and does exactly the opposite of what you want it to? When you watch your bitcoins go down down down DOWN DOWN --No I never sell at a loss, these are only paper losses-- DOWN DOWN DOWN $800 $700 -- This has to go back up sometime right?!!-- DOWN DOWN $600 $500 AHRGh I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE finally you sell at 500 SELL AT 500 FINALLY GO ALL OUT and vow never to buy back until $200 or wherever the bottom is... and BOOM rocket back up to $700

FUCK

What do I do now, buy back? --- No I never buy back at a loss, that's the rule. -- And so watch it go back up up up up up UP UP UP finally can't take it anymore this thing is crazy going to the MOOOON I'm goign to miss the TRAIN and buy in BUY BUY BUY and BOOM splat it goes right back down wtf

I swear these markets are being manipulated there are whales that keylog me and the GRAND MANIPULATOR is out there watching my every move and making the market do exactly the opposite taking all my bitcoins and fiat and laughing in my face

i cant breath

the trick is to make up your mind how much a BTC is worth to you, sell it for more, and not care about the prices afterward, its Crazy to think you'll ever call the tops and bottom correctly, but generally your not to far off, and bitcoin is highly volatile, so you will more then likely get to break even on any trade if you can wait long enough.

don't panic, stick to your trades, and if a trade goes really really wrong, just double down to improve your avg price.

bitcoin is highly volatile, stop thinking it only ever goes up, or that it will crash to pennies before it bounces back, thats crazy talk.
10456  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 19, 2013, 11:37:33 PM

10460  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 19, 2013, 06:51:37 PM

this, and this was for sure a contributing factor to the crash.

Come on. Isn't the market cap and liquidity high enough to absorb a few hundred k being thrown around nowadays?

well sure

but its not like goat bought back in...

alot of poeple place bids only to immediately place and ask for 5% more, flood the market with coins at the very top, and its going to crash the next day.

obviously 250 alone wouldn't have had that much of an effect, but you can't say it wasn't a factor.
