10481  Economy / Economics / Re: 3.9million users took part in the Elon Musk poll; What will be Tesla's decision? on: May 15, 2021, 12:15:53 PM
DOGE is also a cryptocurrency mined with POW so I think it is pointless to cheat Bitcoin to make DOGE the company's payment unit.
DOGE is at risk of a sharp drop in price as only a few wallet addresses hold more than 50% of the total supply of this crypto.
Tesla can accept Bitcoin they can accept DOGE but then they can also get rid of DOGE like they do with Bitcoin. So I don't think you should over-FOMO a coin meme-like DOGE.

Getting rid of DOGE is going to be much more difficult, I am afraid. Because the liquidity is extremely low and the top-100 wallets contain around 70% of the circulating supply. Dealing with a few million USD worth of DOGE should be OK. But anything more than that, they will face a lot of issues related to liquidity. Serves the loser Elon right. Let him lose a few hundred million with DOGE. Ungrateful b@stard got $1 billion in profit from his Bitcoin investment, and yet he tried to destroy BTC.

10482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: May 15, 2021, 12:05:14 PM
Nobody will believe that Macedonia can beat Germany, everyone will bet Germany as the winner, but this is football, friends, sometimes it is difficult to predict, sometimes a weak country can beat a strong country, which has many star players ,,
Like Germany in the 2018 World Cup, which shocked Germany, which South Korea beat 2-0 ..
now we are waiting for the 2022 world cup who will be the champion ''

This is one of the reasons why I favor a greater number of teams in the world cup. The FIFA has announced their plans to increase the total number of teams from 32 to 48. This would guarantee greater representation from around the world, and will make sure that there will be a greater number of upsets against the top ranking teams. Teams such as Iceland and Cameroon needs to play in the world cup, to make it more exciting. Sometimes I get tired of watching the established teams such as Brazil, Argentina and Germany.
10483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Cricket Match-Fixing Scandal on: May 15, 2021, 11:54:19 AM
Not only in Dubai and Sri Lanka, but it also exists in many countries where there are corrupt officials and dishonest players unless there are whistleblowers, they can always get away, what we read and documented are those exposed but there are many fixed games that are not exposed and those who participated made huge money, there's a lot of money top be made in game fixing.

Emirates such as Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi are considered as main operating grounds of the cricket match fixing mafias. And this is one of the reasons why the BCCI decided not to stage any triangular or quadrilateral tournaments there anymore. But now the fixing has spread to other parts of the world as well. And ever since people like Srinivasan and Sharad Pawar got power within the BCCI/ICC, there has been an increase in such incidents.
10484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum on the rise: Sell or HODL? on: May 14, 2021, 06:51:57 AM
Ethereum is already looking overpriced. ETH now accounts for close to 20% of the total cryptocurrency market cap and it's valuation stands at around $450 billion. Given the disadvantages such as high transaction fee and lack of scalability, I would say that ETH is looking extremely overpriced at these levels. I would rather sell at least a part of the ETH holdings, and divert at least partially towards other coins such as Cardano, Litecoin and Polkadot. Even Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum Classic looks attractive now.
10485  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc price drop 12% after Elon musk tweeted Tesla won't accept bitcoin on: May 14, 2021, 05:59:28 AM
I don't mind it since drops can be happening any time even without Elon's tweet. 12% declines seems to find normal in a volatile market and in fact, after that short dump, it pumps back again.

We don't be afraid of Tesla company won't accept Bitcoin because there are a lot of companies around who accept Bitcoin's payment. If they we're going to leave out from crypto, I think that is much better than to keep manipulating the market and as well as the minds of innocent individual.

Elon thinks that Bitcoin will die out if he doesn't endorse it. He is going to be terribly disappointed. At the most, this bearing phase is going to last for 1-2 weeks. After that we'll be above $50,000 per coin and the next bull run should take it above $100,000 level. Elon fanboys are running to accumulate as much DOGE as they can. I want to see their reaction when Dogecoin loses 80% of its value, once the hype subsides.
10486  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: May 14, 2021, 04:51:46 AM
I thought it was really difficult to get there since it is considered to be French territory and part of the EU.
I personally try to plan to move legally somewhere.

He was probably suggesting to migrate there illegally, which is not a good move IMO. Illegal immigrants are not treated with respect in any corner of the world, and on top of that I don't think that anyone there can get around without a knowledge of spoken French. When it is perfectly legal to migrate to Argentina or Brazil, that should be the first choice. Although it is a part of France in a political sense, French Guiana is no more developed when compared to the other countries and territories in South America.
10487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what you worst experience on crypto on: May 14, 2021, 04:41:48 AM
I fell victim to Ponzi schemes and scams so many times that it is very difficult to select one out of them. Many times I invested in scam projects and lost money. These mostly happened in 2014 and 2015, when the Bitcoin prices were really low. Back then, BTC0.10 or BTC0.20 was not very large amounts, and therefore I mostly ignored them and moved on. But now I have a lot of regret about those incidents. If I had those coins with me now, then I would have been in a very comfortable position.
10488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Cricket Match-Fixing Scandal on: May 14, 2021, 04:28:35 AM
Match fixing was always prevalent in cricket. The entry of franchise T20 leagues have worsened the situation. A few years back, two of the franchises were suspended, after it was found that their own owners were involved in match fixing. And back then, one of the franchise owners was the president of the BCCI (N Srinivasan). He quickly hushed up the matters and refused any further investigation. Unfortunately it is an example of what happens, when the cricket boards are under the control of politicians and businessmen, rather than former players.
10489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao offered $10 million to fight Terence Crawford on: May 14, 2021, 04:18:09 AM
That guy will fight for money again and it should be in favor to him just to remain his record clean and his reputation so I also don't think the fight between Mayweather and Pacquaio will happen again. Anyway, I don't see the latest update about Money fighting Terence since I heard the news about Fighting Garcia instead in July, no final announcement yet.

The 2015 fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather generated around $500 million, and was one of the most revenue generating fights in the history of boxing. If they wanted a rematch, then it should have been arranged in the next 1-2 years. Now both the athletes are in their 40s and I don't think that a fight between them will generate enough revenue, on a level we had in 2015. Also, Mayweather has made it clear manytimes that he is no longer interested in a rematch. For all practical purposes, he is retired from boxing.
10490  Economy / Economics / Re: 3.9million users took part in the Elon Musk poll; What will be Tesla's decision? on: May 14, 2021, 04:11:23 AM
A few weeks ago, there was a thread in the Altcoin Section. It was related to the level of centralization with Dogecoin. According to the OP, more than 68% of the Dogecoin circulating supply is stored in the top-100 wallets. Obviously these whales are the beneficiaries from the recent Dogecoin bull run. The concern regarding electricity consumption was just a silly excuse. Elon's real intention was to replace Bitcoin with Dogecoin. But he is going to fail, just like what happened to others like Mark Zuckerberg.
10491  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla stops car purchases with Bitcoin on: May 14, 2021, 03:50:37 AM
The reason why they decided to drop Tesla car purchases on bitcoin is quite noble and true to what Elon Musk believes in. However at the same time I feel like it's not going to help prevent the burning of fossil fuels for electricity anyway, so it's counter intuitive. I hope he has something in store that will help people trust Elon's words once again because I feel like he's a good guy in his core.

LOL.. so he didn't knew about the electricity consumption by Bitcoin mining pools when he first accepted Bitcoin? He has no issues in accepting fiat payments for his cars. He is selectively targeting Bitcoin, because he want to promote some shitcoin like Doge in it's place. I had a lot of respect for Elon Musk, but not anymore. His main intention is to destroy Bitcoin, by giving the flimsiest of the excuses. But he will soon find out that he will not be able to do so. Bitcoin has emerged like a phoenix from temporary setbacks in the past as well.
10492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 Postponed 21 on: May 14, 2021, 03:40:54 AM
No these "incidents" as you say are not very rare and I didn't see anywhere they've been caused by comorbidities, where have you seen that, what is your source to claim that? It should be a fakenews media IMO... Biosecure bubble don't exist, only physical ones are efficient to stop viruses. And japanese people don't want these olympic games, because they don't trust this so-called biosecure bubble and they know many covid variants will be imported in their country during this event.

My source is United States FDA. The US has so far administered more than 141 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine and in less than 1% of the cases adverse effects were noted. You can check another report from Public Health Ontario here:

https://www.publichealthontario.ca/-/media/documents/ncov/epi/covid-19-aefi-report.pdf?la=en

On the other hand, if you want to ignore these scientific reports and agree with people like Jair Bolsonaro (who claim that Pfizer vaccine can turn humans in to alligators), then I don't have the time or patience to convince you regarding the efficiency of the vaccine.
10493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 14, 2021, 03:30:53 AM
I agree with @bryant.coleman that a second division can be formed. This will give more representation to regions that are otherwise not represented in the IPL.
Are you telling that they need to start a second division of IPL for more representation  Grin, I have seen domestic tournaments taking place on a regular interval as i made some bets in some of the recently concluded tournaments in the past one year and all the states are represented as far as i know and there were T20 tournaments as well as ODI and since the BCCI is conducted these why would you need a second division IPL team as well as i think it is excessive.

The state-level domestic tournaments don't have the same quality as the IPL. Now having a second division league may not be a practical idea. How the BCCI will lay out the eligibility criteria? A better idea will be to give more visibility to the already existing state level franchise leagues, such as the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Karnataka Premier League (KPL) and T20 Mumbai League. The quality of these leagues can be improved with the addition of foreign players.
10494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees lower than alts on: May 13, 2021, 04:45:54 AM
i think bitcoin fees still have higher fee per transaction because of its value, the higher the value of bitcoin the higher the fee was. it is quite expensive to those average holders  but probably it will be lessen in the near time if all of people already using bitcoin as main currency.

The block size restriction is not going to change, so only a limited number of transactions can be accommodated in each block. The block size has remained the same since 2009, although the userbase has grown manifold ever since. There is no mechanism within Bitcoin to accommodate the increasing number of users. And for smaller and medium sized payments, a lot of people are currently using other cryptocurrencies such as Litecoin, USDT, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum Classic.
10495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 101 addresses hold 67.7% of all Dogecoin. This is insane. You will get burned! on: May 13, 2021, 04:33:23 AM
Opportunities not only imply advantages, they imply a chance that is closely related to a risk! That would be the correct explanation! Wink Dogecoin looks more like there is a lot of greed involved.

Greed, manipulation, FOMO.. everything is involved with Dogecoin right now. The largest holders control a huge percentage of the Dogecoin circulating supply and they are artificially inflating the prices by keeping their coins away from trading. An artificial scarcity is being created, in order to pump the prices. It will be interesting to know when they will dump their coins. Because given the poor liquidity of this coin, I won't be surprised even if the prices go down by 70% or 80% in a single day (a few days back we already had a 40% drop).
10496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without electricity on: May 13, 2021, 04:23:26 AM
One thing that remains critical to using bitcoin is energy. Energy to mine, and validate transactions. Energy to trade. And energy to access our wallets.
But is it possible, to be able to use Bitcoin even when we don't have energy?

Today, if I run out of electricity at home and want to go buy some batteries, for a flashlight, I can go to a store with some fiat coins and buy batteries. But that would not be possible if you want to make that purchase in Bitcoins. This remains a very good advantage for fiat coins.

How can Bitcoin overcome this problem?

The concern raised here is 100% valid, but the example being given is wrong. In case the electricity goes out for a few hours, we will still be able to use our laptops and mobile phones. And the internet connection will not be disrupted. Even if the electricity disruption lasts for a longer period, there are other options such as invertors and portable solar panels. And if you still insist, then we can use physical Bitcoins (such as the ones issued by Casascius many years ago).
10497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dubai's Government and Gambling on: May 13, 2021, 04:08:51 AM
When it comes to haram and halal in muslims the bitcoin is considered to be haram.

Bitcoin is fake currency not real therefore it is (haram). banks responsibility and will be allowed (halal) to use in Islamic banks.
Source: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/344409884_Is_Bitcoin_Halal_or_Haram_in_the_Islamic_Banking_and_Finance_An_Overview

I checked the credentials of the author (Mohammad Rashed Hasan Polas, PhD Candidate from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Cyber Jaya). The author is a research scholar in the field of economics and doesn't have any certification in Islamic Law. So what they have stated in their article is their own personal opinion, and not a credible interpretation of the Islamic law. If Bitcoin is indeed haram, then the clarification needs to come from some Islamic theological authority and not from some college professors.

For a more acceptable opinion on this subject, you can listen to the opinion from Assim al Hakeem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFagu4Avf4M
10498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk supporting greener crypto on: May 13, 2021, 03:58:06 AM
I have been a proud Bitcoiner since 2014, and I don't care about this shithead Elon Musk. Musk got interested in Bitcoin very late and perhaps now he has realized that he will make more profits by promoting some coin which he can manipulate. He tried to manipulate Bitcoin, but found that due to its decentralized nature that is not possible. So now he is targeting shitcoins such as Doge. I really don't care about him. He may be able to cause a temporary setback to Bitcoin, but we will recover.
10499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man lost £20,000 in one night after becoming addicted to online gambling! on: May 13, 2021, 03:48:08 AM
€20000 or around $24000, why you guys feel shocked like that? In fact there are lot of people who have lose more than that amount multiple times bigger than that. I remembered a guy who lose 300 BTC in bustabit, you can calculate how big his lose on USD or euro terms. That gambler simply don't have money management and greedy while he already ahead, nothing to be surprised on here though

Needs to be said in a relative sense. For someone with a net worth of above $1 million, this amount may be huge, but not life-threatening. But the same can't be said about someone who has a savings of only around $25,000. A few years back, I read about an Arab sheikh, who lost around $10 million in a casino in Monaco. These guys could afford that, because they have enough cash with them. The problem occurs when someone with a hand to mouth existence try to repeat the same.
10500  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: May 13, 2021, 03:38:25 AM
It seems that slowly but surely the worst case scenario is materializing, people have done everything they could to stop the spread of the virus and even the economy has been put at risk, a fortune has been invested on the development and the application of the vaccine, but now the virus is mutating into a more aggressive form which means that we will have to go through all of this over and over again, this is incredibly disappointing but not unexpected.

The big pharma companies refused to wave the IP and patent for the vaccine. This made sure that these companies are able to make tens of billions of USD in profits. But at the same time, huge numbers of people died in the developing world due to the shortage of vaccines. I understand that Pfizer has reported record profits for the first quarter of 2021. So it is clear that already these companies have made enough money. Perhaps now it is time to waive the patents and make the vaccine more accessible to all. Until the vaccination coverage is good, the virus will continue to mutate and will pose a threat to the already vaccinated population.
