10501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Rising on Reddit] Bitpay Reportedly Lays Off Most of Entire Staff on: September 25, 2015, 11:06:22 AM
So what would happen to all of the companies that accept Bitcoin through Bitpay if Bitpay is to cease its existence? Would we all of the sudden stay without almost half of our merchants? This would suck and it would surely cause the blow to whole Bitcoin economy!

I am sure this is all connected to the recent news on how they have been hacked for almost $2 million. Nothing good will come out of this I am afraid!

Nonsense. Pure nonsense

Bitcoin doesn't exist to buy game credits on Microsoft store.

The reason why they have to cut costs is that barely any of their merchants are seeing any sale from Bitcoin acceptance and therefore they aren't generating any revenue whatsoever.

It's quite a coincidence they decided to cut costs by sacking most of their staff straight after news of the hack got out. They must know they will lose business because some merchants will lose their trust in Bitpay. Its reputation has been damaged so badly I wonder if it can survive in the long term. According to coindesk the average daily volume of Bitpay was $435,000 in 2014. However, I can't find any information on what the average daily volume of Bitpay was in 2015, but they must still have been generating some volume before the hack was exposed.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-on-the-dark-web-the-facts/

They have been laying off employees for some time now, this is not the first occurrence nor is it the last.

It's obvious their business is struggling. The recent move to depart from the "always free, forever" transaction fees model is another example of this. I can't prove any numbers but I'm confident their 2015 numbers must be miserable.

It's a business after all. I don't mind them raising the fees as long as they are able to keep it fair and well below the fees of Visa, MasterCard and so on. This only opens the doors to new services to convert Bitcoin sales into fiat for merchants. The more companies we have like BitPay, the better. It's a free market, so let them try to snoop a certain percentage of the market with a better business model that suits both the company itself and the merchants.

Love for money is real. It never ends.
10504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you store your bitcoins ? on: September 24, 2015, 11:47:42 AM
I use plenty of flash drives to store my wallet.dat files, each flash drive contains like 8 wallet files for extra safety. I use this method since Januari 2013 and it works like a charm.

I plug them in once a month to refresh my backups. It takes some effort but as we all know, better safe than sorry.
10505  Economy / Digital goods / Re: selling bitcoin domain on: September 24, 2015, 11:34:18 AM
You're selling a domain or are you just interested in getting to know if we want to see another Bitcoin related site?? I am more interested in knowing what Bitcoin domain you are selling.
10506  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Bitcoins.co - Bitcoin Domain Name? on: September 24, 2015, 11:30:13 AM

Seriously?  Roll Eyes

I offer 0.2BTC
10507  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen ? on: September 24, 2015, 11:27:12 AM
I personally are holding my coins in cold storage for at least 5-10 years, price doesn't matter that much at this point as I don't need the money. But that doesn't mean I won't trade Bitcoin throughout the comming years.

At this point there are enough coins in exchanges to maintain a healthy market. The price will go up if there is a reason for it, just have patience.

I do not pay Sad

You posted exactly in the forum sections where the bitmixer bot doesn't count your posts as valid for payment. That means no payment this week for you, unfortunately.
I previously wrote and there were payments

It could be that they added more local boards to the list of not payment worthy very recently.

This are the current Bitmixer rules :

Code:
- We don't pay for posts less than 75 symbols length.
- We don't pay for posts in [b]Off-topic / Games and rounds / Alternate cryptocurrencies / Indonesian[/b] and this thread.

It could be that the OP isn't fully updated yet. At least you now know that the boards where you post currently won't get paid anymore.
Sorry.
I realized what it was.
My child was removed signatures Angry

If you change or remove signature, even for a couple of hours, you have to start again: wait one week for the next payment, start post new messages, etc.
You need to reactivate your account if you didn't post 45+ days.

That might explain why you didn't get paid. You can't do anything about it. Just start from scratch again with posting.
10509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Increasing number of early adopters cashing out. on: September 22, 2015, 03:56:03 PM
Since when are early adopters that important to Bitcoin? At this point a very few people own the largest amount of coins. Let their wealth flow into new hands. No big deal here.

I prefer to see more people own an equal amount of coins rather than a few bobo's having control over millions of coins. And btw, there is no proof that early adopters are cashing out.

10511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any Bitcoin accepted Store around you? on: September 22, 2015, 03:31:21 PM
Here around me unfortunately not. There is one cafe/pub nearly 30KM away from here where they did use to accept Bitcoin like a year ago. Not sure if they still do, but that the only thing here within let's say 50KM.
10512  Other / Off-topic / Re: You lose $1mil. Someone finds it and returns every penny, no questions asked. on: September 22, 2015, 03:26:16 PM
I would definitely reward that person with 10% of the total amount. That person is a hero!!!!!

10514  Economy / Economics / Re: What's the next big announcement you think might make BTC value rise ? on: September 22, 2015, 03:04:55 PM
When the debt system starts to crack and people look for an exit.

Isn't that already happening right now? As always, people only act when it's too late.

OP : I only can think of WallStreet announcing it will officially invest in Bitcoin (the coin) and not in Bitcoin related startups. That will give the price a huge boost for sure.
10515  Economy / Economics / Re: Silk road impact on BTC price ? on: September 22, 2015, 02:59:32 PM
People can or may ignorate the fact that the original SilkRoad shaped Bitcoin as being the first "merchant" that has successully and solely worked with Bitcoin to run its business. It's hard reality.

I have seen the prices of Bitcoin and Litecoin go down by around 50% in a matter of minutes live after the FBI confiscated the site and placed a warning on the first page. About the second version I don't really know as I as well weren't that much interested in it as there were plenty of copycat sites launched after the original site went down. It was very hard to keep track on which site was the place to go at that time.

10517  Economy / Economics / Re: What's your guess on the price of bitcoin for Jan 2016 and July 2016? on: September 21, 2015, 02:29:40 PM
It all depends on if whales are going to give the Bitcoin price a push before the real fireworks of the halving start. If this is the case then I can see Bitcoin easily go over $300.

If nothing happens then we most likely keep sitting at the $200-$250 level for some time. That's the hard reality.
10518  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-09-20] Bitcoin offers consumers a choice, and it scares them on: September 21, 2015, 02:14:43 PM
The amount of people who are actually wanting to do any kind of effort for a change, are scarce. It's in people's nature to wait and hope for something better to show up.

If we all keep waiting nothing will happen. But then again, how do we combine efforts in order to force through the change we so much want?
10519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: September 20, 2015, 09:01:19 PM
I don't need the money right now. The coins in my cold wallets will most likely never leave their wallets if the price isn't anything over a few $K. If I need to purchase something I simply buy BTC and then spend it on whatever I like. Short answer; No I don't wait for a price increase. For trading it's totally different. There I am waiting for the price to increase for obvious reasons.

West Ham is a giant killer. First they beat Arsenal, Liverpool and now Manchester City. Let's see if they can do it against Chelsea and ManUtd  Cheesy
