10501  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Bounty Regulations on: December 22, 2019, 04:04:48 AM
10502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any such thing as true data protection on: December 21, 2019, 05:46:19 AM
But data is important on catching criminals so FBI are only the one who have it.

Definitely not. Unless you really never used their services, even massive companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc has your data. In fact, it's safe to assume that these companies even have more data about us than the FBI.
10503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any such thing as true data protection on: December 21, 2019, 03:58:20 AM
I suggest taking a look at the PrivacyTools[1] website. Listed on the website are non data-stealing software and services that you can use as an alternative to most services you're using on the daily(Email, search engines, browsers, etc).

10504  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance freezes account linked to Wasabi Wallet on: December 20, 2019, 10:25:54 AM
Its actually nonsense to say that "Its not us, its the regulations..!!"
I think its every person's right to whether use a mixer or not. Dont think that every guy who uses mixer is a scammer or a launderer.

Though I hate that they made this restriction, I don't think it's nonsense. You can also make the same excuse for KYC/AML. Not every single person who isn't willing to submit KYC/AML to Coinbase is a scammer/launderer either, but yet it's required, simply because the government forces them to require these documents. I'm definitely not defending these businesses just because; but at least try to look at things in a business perspective also.
10505  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance freezes account linked to Wasabi Wallet on: December 20, 2019, 04:30:18 AM
i'd say it is the later. that is what happens to all the centralized exchanges. specially when keep on growing so fast and their stats show processing of millions of dollars per day. it simply raises flags in the government that brings them along to start intervening.

Yep. And not to mention they don't even currently require KYC. I've also been hearing rumors on Twitter that some(or most?) exchanges will be requiring to force KYC/AML real soon. I won't really be surprised if it really happens. An exchange operating without the requirement of KYC documents is just a disaster waiting to happen.
10506  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Having Issues with Arcbit. Please help. on: December 20, 2019, 04:13:16 AM
This is the first time I've heard of Arcbit, but even if the developer doesn't support the app anymore, your funds should still show up though. Regardless through the Arcbit UI, or through another wallet with the imported private keys from the Arcbit wallet. Try restoring the 12 word phrase on a reputable wallet like Electrum and see how it goes.

The blockchain has shown over 2 confirmations and the money was sent to the correct address. No phishing, no nothing. Just bad luck I suppose.
Probably wait a bit more. There's a very slight chance that your funds MIGHT not show up with only 2 confs. Probably 3+ or 6+. This completely depends on the wallet though. Some wallets show the pending unconfirmed funds.
10507  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance freezes account linked to Wasabi Wallet on: December 20, 2019, 03:45:22 AM
I admire CZ's move on this matter, he replied to the guy personally and he explained the situation why Binance SG has to do it.

https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1207825158783696896

Assuming CZ's explanation was actually legitimate and not some bullshit excuse, this is like the past ShapeShift controversy again. People getting angry at them for something they most probably didn't want to add in the first place(again, assuming the excuse is legit). I assume it's pretty much the "add this limitation or shut down your business" from the government.
10508  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Thinking of continuing my "a week to learn" topic with whitepapers on: December 20, 2019, 03:06:02 AM
The interest in your writing is going to depend on how good you're actually going the explain the stuff, compared to the sort of "Lightning Network Explained" articles and videos we have to day. I'd say go for it! Even though your piece isn't going to be guaranteed to gain traction. Writing about something you already know about actually helps you learn more about it(based on my experience, at least), so I don't think there's anything to lose here.

Best of luck.
10509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats the next Innovation that will rise? on: December 20, 2019, 02:37:34 AM
Once Lightning Network adoption increases, what the heck will this coin be for? Nothing, besides being a lab rat for Bitcoin.
Lightning isn't exactly a replacement for cheap, on-chain transactions. People are over-hyping it.

Litecoin's niche as Bitcoin's "lab rat" probably ensures it will remain entrenched in the ecosystem. The next major Bitcoin upgrade (maybe Schnorr and Taproot) will make it relevant again.

Well of course it isn't, LN is layer 2. But if we assume that LN's adoption will increase a lot in the future to the levels that people use LN for every "coffee" transactions, then we can assume that it could free up the mempool hence speeding up on-chain transactions(to an extent). Feel free to correct me.

LIBRA - social media token?
Since when was LIBRA made specifically for social media? Not because it's created by a social media giant(FB) it doesn't automatically mean it's made for social media specifically.
10510  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [History] The Casascius Physical Bitcoin on: December 19, 2019, 06:22:45 PM
When I was really new to bitcoin years ago, goddamn I really wanted one of these Casascius coins. Specifically, The original series 1 one. The shiny foil just looked so cool to me(just as I loved shiny foils on Pokemon cards when I was young) but I definitely couldn't afford one. This was at the time when I was still using "the other bitcoin forum" when I didn't know bitcointalk existed. How time flies so fast.
10511  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin a Good Investment? Does Hodl Work? on: December 19, 2019, 05:58:15 PM
Protip: You can use the website DCA BTC[1] to see how much profit you would potentially make if you bought bitcoin starting at x date, ending at y date, and if you bought them weekly, biweekly, or monthly.

It's honestly a very underrated tool that anyone can use.

P.S. I don't own it nor affiliated with it.

10512  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats the next Innovation that will rise? on: December 19, 2019, 05:55:24 PM
You are right. I think with the supply , Its similar to silver. Sure it's a testing ground for BTC , but if LN comes out , you are right , this coin won't be used as much , But this is the free market. You can use whatever you like right? If you want to use LTC , you can.

It's just another option.

Ehh I think it was just tagged as "silver to bitcoin's gold" to attract attention from investors. I don't think it would be this big if it wasn't for that tagline and if it weren't for Charlie Lee being so close and affiliated with Bitcoin people; and I definitely don't think it deserves the marketcap that it has. But yea, free markets.

/end short rant
10513  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats the next Innovation that will rise? on: December 19, 2019, 05:44:14 PM
Litecoin = Digital Silver

I'd like to highlight this. Don't you think the "digital silver" tagline is stupid as hell? It's almost the exact same thing with bitcoin besides, well, faster transactions(in exchange for more centralization), and a higher total supply. Once Lightning Network adoption increases, what the heck will this coin be for? Nothing, besides being a lab rat for Bitcoin.
10514  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: digital asset platform on: December 19, 2019, 10:37:40 AM
Simply look for experienced programmers, probably on sites like LinkedIn, and create a competitive group. Preferably, in a sort of business district depending on what city/country you're in.

Just fyi, if you think that creating a digital assets platform is just as easy as hiring an individual on Fiverr and waiting for him to develop the platform, you're wrong. Remember, this will take lots of effort and A LOT of money if you want to at least get off the ground. If you don't have the money/funding, your business is dead even before something is built.
10515  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto Exchange on: December 19, 2019, 10:32:28 AM
Huobi Global never been hacked in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG history www.hbg.com!
Sure. But it doesn't necessarily mean that they won't get hacked sometime in the future though. Remember, all exchanges were once "never been hacked" Tongue

for all we know, they have been hacked. mt gox was hacked in 2011 but it didn't collapse from insolvency until 2014. same story with cryptsy (if you believe big vern's version of events). consider hitbtc---selective KYC scamming left and right, and widely believed to be insolvent. have they publicly admitted to being hacked? of course not.

Yeap. No way to know until it's too late. One thing you know suicide hotlines will be pinned on cryptocurrency subreddits again. Unfortunately, even though there have been more than a dozen hacks in the past, people still leave funds on exchanges. If they can't even do simple due diligence, then idk.

10517  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto Exchange on: December 19, 2019, 05:55:22 AM
But even then, do certain exchanges have a certain fixed amount that needed to be on the exchange so trading can happen?
Of course. I assume only a small percentage is held on the exchange's hot wallet(funds being actively used), and most is on their cold storage.

And if that be so, then how is it helpful to be on the exchange after being hacked?
Not sure what you mean here? People should only use exchanges to exchange funds, not store their funds.
10518  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto Exchange on: December 19, 2019, 05:30:53 AM
Exchanges get hacked all the time simply because they're hugely targeted by hackers. Obviously, because there's so much money to steal and that they could potentially get away scot-free.

While some of the current big exchanges that we have right now have remained unhackable(as far as we know), like Coinbase and Kraken, there's really no guarantee that they're not going to get hacked in the future. I mean, people think that Coinbase might be "unhackable" due to it's good track record, but people thought the same with MtGox and Bitfinex in the past. Well, we know what happened to both..

This list right here, will just unfortunately be added with more and more exchanges as the years go by: https://cryptosec.info/exchange-hacks/

Now, do you want to be part of the statistic of the lost funds from these hacks? Of course not! So obviously, the way to go is to simply just purchase an affordable hardware wallet, and store your funds there instead. Only leave funds on exchanges that you actively trade, and if possible, withdraw them regularly when you don't need to trade them.
10519  Other / Meta / Re: Why Anouncements are not attractive? on: December 19, 2019, 05:14:01 AM
Unfortunately, there's simply so much bad cryptocurrency projects being created that people learned to ignore most projects(regardless if it makes sense or not). If you actually want traction, you need your project to be either 1) really really good(which I doubt it, no offense), or 2) have a huge backing from well-known entities(e.g. Andreessen Horowitz, whatever crypto hedge fund, etc). It surely will be difficult, but yea, that's the current state of the markets.
10520  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be Careful to Write on: December 19, 2019, 03:45:34 AM
Not sure how your friend mistyped "electrum" for "eklectrum", as he would probably need to be really drunk to mistype it that bad, but yea. Doublecheck what you're typing and copy-pasting people. Especially when were talking about freakin bitcoin, that's hugely hugely targeted by scammers and hackers.
