So, just for my understanding, you get an ethernet cable, plug one end in your laptop and the other end in the avalon?
The thing that you're plugging your laptop into via the ethernet cable is the TP-Link TL-WR703N?
So the wr703n then connects to your router thus connecting your avalon to the internet?
Why do you need to change your laptop's IP to 192.168.0.101? Can you just leave your laptop the way it was before?
Or does the TL-WR703N connects both your laptop and avalon to the internet?
I know it sounds noobish but someone please explain.
yes thats right. i also don't think you'd need to change the ip address of your laptop but i don't have my avalon yet.

the silverbox update (comparison from the beginning of this thread, March 13th, 2012, gold=1690, Bitcoin=5.4):
Bitcoin: +1363%
Gold: -6%
GPL: -36% silverbox long
Diff: +1369% advantage Bitcoin and Growing
Sir, I appreciate your insight very much, but would it not be more appropriate to use "deltaB/deltaA - 1" as the formula? That gives +1456%. no, i think i'm doing it correctly (79/5.4=14.63 subtract 1=13.63 or 1363%). notme? i'll admit it's clumsy and much more elegant to perform a simple ratio like BTC/gold but i'm maintaining this mainly out of tradition and the fact that it's way more fun to watch Bitcoin escalate/do a rocket shot past gold from a % standpoint. it's much more grinding to the psyche ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I mean the "advantage" is miscalculated to the downside. As long as gold is underperforming fiat, the difference is even more striking. If gold overperforms, then it is less than what you're leading us to believe. But this is your thread, do what you may. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) the stats represent the race btwn gold and Bitcoin. nvm fiat.

Yes I used to read Yves regularly too. Still stop by every once in a long while.
Only so many hours in the day I guess.

Is it possible to make minor changes to an existing Avalon batch 3 order? I placed an order that included a PSU, but I have since learned that it causes issues with customs. Now I want to remove the PSU. (and get the 2 BTC difference).
Customs of which country?

If you look at price of gold in real term i.e. taking inflation into consideration, then the picture is not too rosy, but yet not quite a collapse. At the same time this is a pair trade and therefore there is no expectation that both sides of the trade perform spectacularly.
yes, I also see that and this is why I am charting always the BTC/Gold ratio and this is rallying like hell since the inception of BTC perhaps this thread would be better called: "Bitcoin outperforming Gold" Patience my friend. Patience.

Here is a thread describing my bitcoind + eloipool solo mining configuration. This is also the configuration you would use for a mining farm. thank you for this.

Awesome, now I will probably switch back from coinbase for selling. BitPay has always been faster, and now they are cheaper too.
wait, so you as an individual can sell BTC via Bitpay?

so if wealthy uninsured depositors can't hide their money in banks anymore worldwide, by extension, where do they hide it?
btw, the US repealed their unlimited deposit coverage late last year.

Banks in Cyprus payed 5% interest. Interest like that comes at a risk. You should have been aware of this.
The government of Cyprus guaranteed the deposits. As of the latest news, they have guaranteed "insured" deposits (< 100K Euros) to prevent a pan-European bank run but those with over 100K are going to get absolutely raped. Laiki is going to be shuttered and "insured" accounts moved to Bank of Cyprus which will be allowed to survive with "haircuts". Why there are not bank runs throughout Europe right now I have no idea... oh there will be. by uninsured depositors.
|
|
|
yes, and what a template it is.
steal 40-90% of all uninsured deposits so as to pay off the bondholders.
