10581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Fear & Greed Index on: May 09, 2020, 11:19:22 AM
I can only hope people won't fall for this sort of barometer. There are just too many presuppositions, assumptions, and hasty conclusions behind this.

Fear and greed may really be great indicators for investors, but measuring them, never mind accurately, could be impossible and therefore pointless.

For one, a sudden spike of the keyword "bitcoin price manipulation" in online searches does not automatically mean "clearly a sign of fear in the market, and we use that for our index." Interpretations such as this are dangerous.

Hope dies last, someone I know says. But this index is based on what people do, and all it does is indicate oversold, undersold (to my basic knowledge). It's no more an accurate barometer for trading than any other TA tool, in my mind, and sentiment is a powerful thing in markets. For the rest, who don't trade, this doesn't mean anything.

For those who do, please, move the market. We want you to.
10582  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-05-06] Forbes - Did Google Just Censor Bitcoin on: May 09, 2020, 09:12:54 AM
Because it causes them endless ball aches with scam reports, scam ads and other endless dishonesty? I'm sure they don't have these problems with kitten videos.

We don't know how automated they are and it's not as if an algorithm can tell the difference between a good Bitcoin video and a 'bad' one.

This.

Google is Youtube and they just got sued, not for the first time either, by someone (this time Ripple) for allowing scam videos about Ripple. I think Facebook last year was it got sued by people whose likenesses and names were used in scams.

So yeah, it's pretty shitty to get censored but yeah, if you ask me, someone who wants censorship-free platforms should know where to find them or circumvent them. But sweet ol gramma who wants to go on YT, I'd love it if those scammy crypto shills don't even make it to her.
10583  Economy / Services / Re: [SERVICE] Digital Portrait Drawings! | BTC|ETH|XRP|LTC|BCH Accepted on: May 09, 2020, 08:01:40 AM
Hello Maus, I'm actually pretty much stunned that you can do such work on an Android phone and a makeshift stylus. I can't even scribble legible handwriting on my Android, never mind make portraits.

I have something a bit different in mind for you, I'm updating a personal portfolio, and that might take weeks (doing it on weekends) but I might have up to 10 portraits or portraitlike (with figures) photographs I'd like the scribble sketch done, but also I'd really like a rush job for a photo in the next 24 hours I'm willing to pay double for so you can go get yourself the stylus you deserve.

I've PM'd you with details.
10584  Economy / Economics / Re: Oh look! Another covid thread..... on: May 09, 2020, 06:54:03 AM
Your theory seems very plausible, and might even be true to some extent. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a war breaks through once this is all over. But I don't expect EU and other countries with moderate military equipment to keep quiet either. Russia may side with China, others won't. I really hope it doesn't get to this. Creating a pandemic to defeat a military strong nations seems to be a vert genius tactic, and so far its working out extremely well for China.
Hard to tell what the view will be these days in Southeast Asia, where China has become less of threat than of ally in past two decades -- communism no longer the easy sway word as it was in the 1970s, just as Japan is no longer the evil marauder of the 1940s. I don't have a keen knowledge of the politics now but a lot of people in that part of the world would see China as the lesser evil and side with them.

I think most of us are sharing the same plight as you are. Scared of losing our jobs, scared of not being able to feed our families and ourselves. And given up on our governments to do anything for us, and even if they do, it won't be suffice enough. I mean, we can get loans, find new temp part time jobs, do trading all that shit, but that will only help so much. This pandemic needs to end soon, and every single government should provide like a stimulus to its citizens every now and then, the US has had  a record breaking layoffs throughout history and its just beginning. If countries don't do something, their economies will be dwindling and soon there will barely be any economy to rule over.

At least those like us are a bit more resourceful than others. We can look for ways, we are educated (if not qualified), and we have means to find something else. I think most countries will do something, but surviving is no way to live, as it is most people really were just living day to day.

Did anyone hear of any other countries shutting its local state borders during this time?? quite a time to be around in, but also one I would not like repeated again! fingers crossed

Oh yeah, it's been super strict in Malaysia on the peninsula (12 states) and on the island across (2 states including mine) we have even different immigration policies, even closing down between districts between states. Police permits needed to travel, checks on all entry points by land and sea. Only last week they allowed 2-4 in a vehicle but must be from same family.

Intra-state travel was just relaxed this week, but police permits still required past curfew times.

Europe's very relaxed comparatively! People still sunning in the parks here.
10586  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could we see another breakout now? 🤔 on: May 08, 2020, 12:14:34 PM
It looks like bitcoin is trying to go up but there is a lot of sell pressure that is keeping it there. At one point I said it is just people selling to make a profit, they bought low when it was 6k or something and now they are taking that profit. However, this happened way too many times so I can't really say this is simply just people taking profit, it looks like some people are trying to keep the price low and honestly I don't know why but at this point I am pretty sure it is just people who want to keep it low.

Maybe it is the leverage people who do not want to get liquidated. No matter what it is, as long as we try to keep going up all the time, we can fail and fail again, fail better, but eventually we will succeed and go up eventually because no one can afford keeping it low forever.

Actually, the charts I've been looking at show very low volume, relatively speaking. And this is the same pattern I've always seen in this 9-10k range. Volumes that are so low, shallow orderbooks, making it really inconsequential to see breakouts at this range.

Who wouldn't take profit at 10k anyway, given how easy it's been to fall back from there.
10587  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How copy trading can prevent you from becoming a statistic. on: May 08, 2020, 10:51:03 AM
Here's what happens if you copy eToro's latest product: the TIE Sentiment AI portfolio whatever it's called.

-35% losses in 2019, and so far +40% in 2020.

But guess what, anyone holding Bitcoin and dollar cost averaging would have made much more than that.

And look at the peaks and dips, it follows the markets exactly. Why waste money on tools, why waste time to copy traders who will of course make money in rallies?
10588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 08, 2020, 09:35:29 AM
@Trofo: Me too! Bundesliga won't air here though, I saw some news about it, so I'll be looking online for streams but won't be surprised if can't find any. Neutral grounds have to be the way to go now. I hate it, and I guess no open top bus for this season but if we have to, we have to. I think all your suggestions are precisely what EPL will do, but there's today's weekly meeting to see if Project Restart changes anything.

@LFC @hilarious: Read a story about Barrow who've been fighting to get back into EFL for decades, and they felt they were unjustly voted out all those years ago just because teams had to travel 120 miles to get to their stadium. Can't see it happening again, voting.
10589  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden fall in bitcoin price after successful halving, Post-halving prediction. on: May 08, 2020, 07:40:15 AM
No issue that's why it's called speculation, none of us are always 100% sure. The greedy investors side in me don't what to see this happen as I'll always want to keep making profit but that can't just be the case. There's no denying that the halving FOMO brought in many new Investors that their emotions haven't been tested yet which is likely going to happen soon and without any doubt they'll fall victim to FUD.

I'm still optimistic about the pre-halving price of bitcoin irrespective of the supposed slow moving I think it peak within the price range of $11k - $12k and the post-halving price will take it down within $6k - $7k.

I can only be 100% sure that price will NOT be exactly the same every 24 hours, at least not on every exchange, which is what I used to tell people who would coax me to go into forex trading about 15 years ago!

The problem isn't recognising the facts, I guess, we all do. The problem is accepting that we are just as prone as others, if not probably even more so to not having the discipline to stay on the right side of logic when trading. I think the other problem is, being experienced in TA and trading tends to give you confidence in what you're doing.

But on point again, 12k right after halving seems a given at the rate we've been going now. 50% pullback also seems about right.
10590  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is bullish longterm on: May 07, 2020, 09:55:59 PM
I have a feeling that people buying bitcoin just because of the halving are going to be a little disappointed.

The market has a way of doing the entire opposite of what majority expects and this is because we refuse to answer of what happens when everyone buys the bottom.

Haven't even been in Bitcoin for very long (4 years) but have met plenty of people along the way who tell me they exited with a lot of disappointment. We're talking early adopters even, so their attitude was surprising to me, especially in 2018/19 when I thought, surely they'd seen it all before and 3k lows are amazing if that's the extent of losses!

I'm expecting a wave of exiters in a few weeks and months too, if price doesn't meet expectations.
10591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig wright found to have plagiarized his PhD-not really a doctor of anything on: May 07, 2020, 07:43:23 PM
Doesn't surprise me. I've met plenty of doctorates and double/triple master holders etc. and while a few truly deserve their titles and hey, I got nothing against smart people, many of them have me thinking: "how on earth did they pass their exams with such idiocy?". I'm a bit older now and I know how the world works of course, so these things just don't make me raise eyebrows anymore.

I suppose Charles Sturt University hasn't learnt how to use simple anti-plagiarism tools. Sorry for other alumni.

Oh, and I saw he actually did it in 2008, with far less care. Complete copy-paste.

Isn't it lovely this "cryptosphere"? =D
10592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 07, 2020, 06:39:28 PM
I don't get it either, this dissent against the neutral venues.

You're a small team, all due respect, but I'd rather lose the suppose of my 10k strong home crowd than face the 40k-strong cauldron of the big boys. Everyone loses home advantage, but they also lose their away handicap. Fair is fair, and you can't expect people to stay home to not watch their team when they're playing. Anfield management already said the stadium would never open for games not even for a trophy ceremony if they win it, and they're getting a lot of flak but I honestly can't see any other way.

If we want the season to restart, it has to be under these undesirable but absolutely necessary circumstances.
10593  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden fall in bitcoin price after successful halving, Post-halving prediction. on: May 07, 2020, 04:32:05 PM
Am I the only one thinking bitcoin will experience some price (probably massive) corrections after the halving hype dies down. Like they say, buy the rumors, sell the news, brace yourself guys because that's exactly what's coming. The new inflow of inexperience investor hoping to benefit from the halving hype are likely going to panic when the corrections comes, resulting to the price dumping harder. Currently, everyone is getting carried away by what will the pre-halving new (ATH) price of bitcoin be and not much concerned about what'll the support level of that new price be, to prevent it from dumping hard when the corrections comes.

What are your price prediction or are you sticking with been optimistic of a continuous upwards price movement? Let's get discussing...

I've read at least two news analysis of the opinions of popular influencers (goddamn me for using that term), who already have said this for a while. Can't remember the other guy but the first (Vays) actually called the top at 9k and said he sold to buy the dip at was it at least 7.5k?

He's already wrong though, judging from two consecutive days now of higher highs but I don't think he's wrong that there's going to be a dip.

The regular economy has yet to reveal the true extent of this depression. When it does, Bitcoin's not going to be immune.
10594  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason behind the Bitcoin price could reach $50,000 in 2020 on: May 07, 2020, 11:51:19 AM
Not going to deny that it's "easy" to see how 50k could be achieved, if 3.6k was the best a crash could do, but I'm still going to wait for the second wave of global recession to hit the markets. When (not if) stocks finally give way to that, and we see all the repercussions come out of that, I'll be watching Bitcoin price, and so will most other investors I believe.

I'm guessing resilience, rather than boom.

Hey guys, you know I like catching up with you every now and then, good to see stuff is opening up again, though a bit of a shame with that license expiring. Was that intentional because of COVID-19 or did someone just forget to renew stuff? A lot of closures in my part of the planet too, including some really old brands I grew up with, so it really feels like the end of an era in a literal sense for brands. Hope you pick up on BATM activity once this blows over.

Well screw me. Something happens to me when I have a huge dinner, I just seem to roll back in the brain and forget everything I had planned to do. This is the second time Wednesday poker slipped past me when I had prepared all day long.

Sorry for my inactive ass bothering people at tables =p

Are you sure?  I don't wanna make it look I forced you into this or anything.

Don't worry about it. I'm happy if you get yourself a few cold beers should you win. Fingers crossed for super Pogba transfer out to... Newcastle lol.

BTW So it seems Bundesliga is confirmed in a week or two: https://global.espn.com/football/german-bundesliga/story/4092272/coronavirus-bundesliga-to-become-europes-first-major-league-to-resume. Awesome possum

Nice BJ promo, wonder what's the min bet? I don't see it in the promo so can't opt in... is this again another promo problem based on my location I wonder? And have I ever got an 8-streak at BJ? No. This means it's coming at me ain't it? =D

@Trofo @figment so it sounds almost like you guys are playing just like me! I do get quite a high bankroll because of those early callers, but then end up busting on the 1st hour as soon as I try to play proper anyway!

@Steve: New man new strategy, hope I see you at the tables! Maybe old poker pro boss coming to put the smackdown on us?Wink

10599  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin halving's 3 possible scenarios. on: May 06, 2020, 01:13:59 PM
I love the crowd so far, voted for what turned out to be the majority (7 votes) because yes man, we've had past more impactful halvings already happen and shit didn't go hit the fan (in a good way) until months later.

We's gonna see a lot of yawnfest nothings in the next few weeks at least, if not months.

Definitely not a short-term precursor. @Exolix: even less effect if you do Covid-19 considerations. People will be squeezed for money and jobs. Buying bitcoin last on their mind. Selling it maybe to pay bills.
10600  Economy / Speculation / Re: One block left until final difficulty change before reward halving on: May 06, 2020, 11:45:29 AM
So, guesses as to how much difficulty will fall after halving? It's going to be half before half after, so probably every last ditch miner's already in the game now, and they'll switch off as soon as we get the last 12.5 bitcoin reward.

Some news I read somewhere says it's monsoon now so power's plentiful where it's hydro in Asia so that'll actually help make up for some, so maybe the slide happens a few more adjustments down the line?
