1061  Economy / Speculation / Re: The time has finally come...??? on: July 29, 2023, 02:05:21 PM
There was a bull run like last month but it seems to have stalled. What is not looking good is that the stock markets are making highs while bitcoin and crypto markets are stalling. Most likely this is due to the Summer and very low liquidity.

I think yesterday the price of bitcoin stalled for like 10 mins and barely 1 BTC traded on Binance. It will be like this for another month at least until Fall starts. Usually TradFI also has low liquidity in the summer months. Best to just go outside and play.
1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining is friendly to the Environment says MIT on: July 29, 2023, 04:20:40 AM
So I guess now maybe we will be able to buy a Tesla with Bitcoin and Elon will once again add Bitcoin to its Tesla balance sheet again?

You might not remember but he removed it because he said Bitcoin mining is not green and he would reverse his decision if it was. So maybe this article will change his mind.
1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Layerzero Speculation airdrop on: July 28, 2023, 04:16:04 AM
Yes days there are so many airdrop abusers that they are strict when it comes to qualifying. One of them is the volume of your transactions. If you do small transaction you might not qualify.

You also can’t send funds back and forth between accounts. You should also be active from time to time. Don’t just do one transaction and stop. You also should use other networks with your address.

Same with the zksync airdrop. Rules for qualifying will be similar.
1064  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FTX Bitcoin & Derivative Dataset on: July 28, 2023, 04:10:08 AM
You can get this if you go thru many of the tick database providers like tardis or something similar. Pretty sure they have all the data going back to the beginning.

They basically save the API data and then sell it for quant reasons. Just google and find a service. Keep in mind it won’t be cheap.
1065  Other / Off-topic / Re: Missing Crypto Millionaire Found Dismembered in a Suitcase on: July 28, 2023, 04:01:58 AM
This story reminds me of that kid in Canada called CryptoKing which did something similar. He appeared rich during the bull market. Took peoples money and bought crypto after it topped and then lost most of his investors money.

Then he got kidnapped by one of the investors but made it out alive. Apparently he wasn’t a good trader or anything. But he was flashing his money around and convinced many people he knew how to invest and that’s how people got hooked.
1066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'll always tell people about bitcoin on: July 28, 2023, 03:58:17 AM
I used to talk about Bitcoin back in 2015 or so. And most people assumed it was a scam and never got involved in it. In 2019 most of my friends assumed Bitcoin was long dead.

Then the bull market came and everything changed. They kept asking how to buy it, how to buy NFTs, how to trade on defi, about alt coins and everything.

So it’s funny that when Bitcoin was down everybody assumed it was a scam and didn’t buy. They bought during the hype at the top pretty much.
1067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worldcoin launch with ORB to scan your eyes on: July 27, 2023, 04:15:55 AM
World coin is not like the Stellar Lumens airdrop. That one might of had an airdrop based on Facebook accounts however the main airdrop was based on Bitcoin addresses.

This was years ago, maybe 2016 or so. If you had a balance you got to claim an airdrop. So it wasn’t really fairly distributed. Because if you used alts or kept on an exchange you might of not gotten the airdrop.
1068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RFK Jr Says He Purchased Bitcoin For His Kids on: July 27, 2023, 04:07:12 AM
I like this guy and I think he would be a good president however I just don’t think that he will get enough support. Most likely Trump will be on the lead unless there is some hard evidence about his crimes and he ends up stuck in court for the next decade.

Maybe he should of started campaigning earlier. Because trump started pretty much since he lost the election and hence why he has all this support. Most people never heard of RFK Jr until perhaps 2 months ago.
1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The blocksize war on: July 27, 2023, 04:02:57 AM
Man you know you are old when you remember the days of crazy Roger Ver screaming at the camera in his hotel room saying “It’s Bitcoin CASH!!!” Not BCash, don’t call it BCash. And then he gives the camera the finger.

Surprisingly these days we don’t have these block size wars anymore. I guess people accepted and aside from the Ordinals, fees were low for most transactions.
1070  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: For newbies and plebs who want to self-study to become "traders" on: July 26, 2023, 04:06:36 AM
What he says is the truth. Many that write those books and have those seminars aren’t good traders at all. If they were they would trade instead of wasting their time with writing books and having seminars. However there is no law which states that you must be a successful trader to promote seminars and charge people $10K for a course where they can find the stuff for free pretty much.

And he is correct saying most will lose money. Trading is hard and it’s why many give up after a few months or years. If it was easy then most people would trade instead of working some boring job.
1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if salaries were paid in BTC on: July 26, 2023, 04:00:06 AM
If salaries were paid in Bitcoin then I am assuming the result will be only slightly positive since many who have bills to pay would need to automatically sell to pay for goods and services. So there would be both a buy and sell transaction and the result would be the same.

There would be a small amount where the holder might keep the Bitcoin because they don’t need it as an investment. So there would be no sell pressure on that end. But for most they would need to sell to get fiat.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BlackRock: “The optimal BTC allocation is a large 84.9%” on: July 26, 2023, 03:56:28 AM
Yes it’s optimal but doesn’t mean it will happen. I am assuming they got the 2.65BTC by taking 21 million and dividing by 8 million.

The way blackrock will make money is not by holding BTC but by the fees earned from the management of the fund. Every year they will get like 0.1% whether the price goes up or down. That’s the goal. The more people buy the fund, the more money they will make in fees.
1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Masternodes on: July 25, 2023, 04:15:22 AM
Yeah I had to double check the date and was surprised this wasn’t posted back in 2017 or so. Been a while since I heard about Pivx or even masternodes in general. They were huge back in the day but now people moved on to staking ETH instead.

I remember at first masternodes were highly risky because you had to keep the tokens on the wallet and many ended up losing their tokens due to poor security issues. And then the fad just died off.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 1 billion from Paramount movies on: July 25, 2023, 04:11:28 AM
I am having a hard time understanding exactly what you are asking? I am assuming you want Paramount pictures or some other large Hollywood company to make a Bitcoin movie to pump the price.

I don’t think it will make a difference because people already know what Bitcoin is. It made a difference 10 years ago with Mr Robot and The Good Wife episodes because it was new back then. Now it won’t pump bitcoins price if some big movie was released.
1075  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think Bitcoin Market Need Promotes for Price up ? on: July 25, 2023, 03:53:51 AM
There are lots of way it can pump up. Say Apple buys it on their balance sheet like Tesla. Or the blackrock etf finally gets approved. Or all this Binance FUD finally comes to an end.

Right now it’s just summer so we are trending sideways. I don’t think we will get much action until early Fall. Usually most people are taking time off to travel and you can tell by the low volume.
1076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can a person buy a hardware wallet where crypto is ban? on: July 25, 2023, 03:51:06 AM
In most developed countries you are usually free to buy drug accessories but not the drug itself. So even if crypto was banned , the hardware wallet wouldn’t be banned. However where you are from I don’t think that applies.

My advice just use something like Electrum offline. As long as you got some old laptop you no longer use you can create an offline wallet which signs your transactions on your online computer. Just go to the Electrum section of bitcointalk.
1077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Appeal to the Average Joe and Jane Bitcoin Investors: Buy Bitcoin Now! on: July 25, 2023, 03:46:55 AM
Don’t see the point of this post. If you are a member of bitcointalk you most likely already know about Bitcoin and other alt coins to invest in. Most people here are fairly tech savvy.

Most people however how no idea how crypto works and they stay away from it. Those people should be informed about why it’s wise to invest in Bitcoin. But they are on Facebook or twitter. They aren’t on Bitcoin talk.
1078  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is This How You Short A Crypto Coin? on: July 24, 2023, 03:54:55 AM
No that doesn’t make sense. If you think Bitcoin will go down you don’t buy it. You will lose money.

The way it works is you borrow someone’s Bitcoin with a margin account and sell it. Then when it goes down you close the trade and pay back those bitcoins and you keep the difference as profit.

You can also trade futures which are essentially contracts which let you short Bitcoin with leverage. However be careful with this as it’s easy to get liquidated due to leverage on volatile crypto assets.
1079  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price of a Bitcoin could cost millions of dollars: Standard Chartered on: July 24, 2023, 03:52:29 AM
Yes $100k is arbitrary number but so was $20K and you can say it acted as good resistance. I actually assumed Bitcoin would of peaked at $10K and $50K in prior cycles. Was wrong both times. And I think $100K will be the same.

Instead of peaking at $100k it will peak earlier at like $90K or peak after at $110K or so. When $100K break many will buy and probably the top will be around some figure such as $115K or $120K before it reverses like before.
1080  Economy / Speculation / Re: $31450 proves too strong for Buyers, but Sellers may only dominate below $29400 on: July 24, 2023, 03:49:08 AM
Best way to trade this is basically high leverage with tight stops. You know that even if the highs or lows are run, they won’t close above those levels. Will be a nasty wick and reverse. If you get some volume and a break with conviction then you can just take a loss.

However I am betting with how everything is trading these days we won’t see much action. Will just chop away going from resistance to support and vice versa. The day traders are making a killing on all this action.
