This really isn't making sense... The thief stole so much of the coin that if he were to get away with it, the coin would be worthless... And the way he went about it made it impossible for him to dump any of it...
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 13, 2014, 07:28:42 PM
It seems that VRC PoS vulnerabilities are not fixed yet so attacks like this are possible.

This wasn't a PoS vulnerability.. it was an attack on the exchange, an exchange vulnerability... read the doc released by the devs.

Guys, don't leave your coins on an exchange... 30% of the VRC supply just got stolen from mintpal :/
the attack was directed to VRC itself.
Maybe the pump announced days ago, was made to make people buying VRC, and then attack mintpal to stole as many as vrc they have.

I find it odd that they only stole VRC, yet it was not a result of attacking the VRC chain itself... so they managed to breach MP security but only decided to steal VRC? I wish there were more details.
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 13, 2014, 07:10:35 PM
Come here to see if fundamentals brought it down, seems all hell is breaking loose.   Shocked

Yes, today we learned that centralized services, centralized ownership (1/3 being hot in Mintpal alone says everything) and centralized authority (rollback to save $2m worth of VRC that were most likely owned by VRC whales) just doesn't work in crypto. Decentralized is what makes crypto secure and VRC has absolutely none of that in any way shape or form.

blade87 stop being a dick, a lot of people here lost money. I remember when BC was stolen from cryptorush- I don't recall you being quite as dramatic when that happened...

VRC is just as decentralized as any other PoS coin.

Sooo this kind of bad news to wake up to... Wish I hadn't bought more last night before going to bed, or I wish I had at least withdrawn them Sad

Woah, saw the big drop on bitcoinwisdom charts and loaded up Mintpal to buy up cheap.  It's delisted!

Come here to see if fundamentals brought it down, seems all hell is breaking loose.   Shocked

SOMEBODY DIED IN THAT TRAIN CRASH U KNOW!? HAVE SOME RESPECT Wink

Wow this is a breath of fresh air compared to the last thread.

Hehe don't know if anybody shared this here yet, but it is great  Grin

Pretty much summarizes the last thread.

Ok, that dosent make the coin centralized. One of its features is by your definition. Just like many coins have centralized services & or features with non public code. Theres nothing wrong with that. Sorry you dont agree. Enjoy your weekend.

I never said the coin was centralized... It most certainly is not. That is exactly what I said: that the service is. And I even said there was nothing wrong with that...  Huh

Thank you, enjoy yours as well.
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 12, 2014, 08:28:38 AM
Considering the fee's & minimums most places put on BTC withdraws & or purchases, it is usefull. Sorry you dont agree. There's no $ laundering, thats pretty obviously nonsense. As for the others, they are options, no one is forced to use them, so there is no centralization. Again sorry you feel this way.

Edit: Features are not gimmics, again, sorry you don't agree with that either. Enjoy your weekend.

I think you are confused about the centralization aspect. Veribit is a service run by the devs, it is software that they control. No? So, it is centralized. I am pretty sure pnosker has said it himself that it is a centralized service catering to the coin. There is absolutely nothing inherently wrong with that, but let's just keep things straight. Just because they are options and nobody is forced to use them does not mean they are not centralized... That's like saying Microsoft/Apple are not centralized corporations because their products are optional and nobody is forced to use them... Well, Microsoft and Apple have CEOs and are most certainly centralized.

well i hope guys realize it's not MY interpretation of law they need to be concerned about lol

and the exchange story is typical.. they know what they are doing.. hell a LOT of exchange staff make / release coins.

from an outsiders perspective this all looks bad.. time to step away and get real perspective in things i think.

a good start is what you suggested for sure !

edit:
i checked other day and there was over 330,000 accounts here !

I wonder how many are fake/sockpuppets

Sorry, on a more positive note.. This truly is one of the only altcoins I feel comfortable holding. Why? Because of the devs.

Hep I'm scared is this a scam?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided

maybe but what is worse is it has a centralized component to it and its main gimmick is using BTC.. redundant just use BTC lol

It's funny how people throw around the words "Centralized" and "Decentralized" without even understanding what they really mean.

/facepalm. Can we please get another community manager.. this guy's snarky attitude..

Also, please explain how veribit is not a centralized service? Thanks.

1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][URO] A Real Long Term Currency: 1 Uro = 1 Metric Tonne Urea Fertilizer on: July 11, 2014, 08:22:46 PM
Swimming in losses with this URO Roll Eyes Someone give me faith i need it, whiskey not working

I still have faith, just hope its all true, if we get a confirmation of urea being delivered, we rise in price, hopefully GES can make some exceptions or something for their first order to deliver early, that will destroy all fud.

Unless you live in fairy land it's not very likely that they've found someone to deliver a $4million order of fertilizer for free, however his best play might be too pay a corrupt business owner to pretend they've received a $4million order of fertilizer for free. That would destroy all the fud and probably boost the price 20-40 fold intil it becomes obvious why trying to tie a commodity to cryptocurrency is inherently floored.

Lets wait till https://twitter.com/CryptoCourtney tweets about her order, they pooled together 12,500, if they confirm delivery, then it can't be a corrupt business, but they have been very quite for the past few days.

Really any ideas what this is about? https://twitter.com/CryptoMudder/status/487690153625145344/photo/1

Sounds like she might have good news in store..?

How much are you guys getting paid? Because, at this point it is actually much more pathetic if you are wasting this much time FUDing here if you are not getting paid...

I'm no facial recognition expert but....  Grin

Left is a happy and proud Bohan, right is an exhausted Bohan that hasn't slept for 3 days, woke up to a crash and calmed the community after the bullshit FUD you posted about URO, his eyes are almost popping out.
You have no credibility anymore altcoinherald, GTFO.

Dude, if I can crash a 'multi-million dollar' coin with one blog post then I have more credibility than everyone else in the altcoin industry.

Think about that for a second.  Grin

HAHAHA you are giving yourself waaaay too much credit. It was bryce weiner and the rest of the twitter crew and whales that crashed the market. You are purely a mercenary "journalist" who will soon be proven to be a sham. Even less people will read your blog after your lies come to light. I hope you are ready to apologize, you said you would- right?
