1061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Just like visiting a cinema on: October 25, 2023, 11:26:10 AM
I gamble just for fun, like I watch movies in the cinema. I do both of these things in my free time, but I don't do them too often because I am more concerned with the money being able to meet my family's daily needs. Only if there is money that is really not used for important things or anything else will I use it for gambling because I don't want to disturb the financial position that I have established every month. Actually, we have many more interesting things to do and not only gambling but often we are too lazy to start, so we prefer to use gambling as a fun activity. In fact, by gambling, we use money that may be more than we budgeted for.
I also gamble just for fun, but with the kind of money that I should use for other things that supposed to be fun. Instead of my friends and I should go and have fun at other places during the weekend, we can decide to go to casinos and have almost the same fun but with gambling which is the main reason. What that is very important is my family life and savings, I can not take any money that I supposed to save or spent on my family to gamble.
1062  Other / Meta / Re: is there any other way to know a user's merit history? on: October 25, 2023, 10:11:35 AM
He has only 1000 merits and he is a legendary member before the merit system began in 2018. That means his merit was airdropped to his account. Legendary members were given 1000 merits with 500 smerits at that time.

It would be good if you can lock this thread now.
1063  Other / Meta / Re: Why my posts were deleted from a Reputation board thread? on: October 25, 2023, 06:44:42 AM
As the title says, I want to know why forum moderators deleted my posts.

Edit: Well, the posts were merged without any moderator's note. I didn't notice that at first. Didn't they notice that the author removed several posts?
This means you have found an answer to your question, why not lock this topic? The best thing that you can do now is to lock this topic for people not to be posting the same thing that has been posted by other members.

On this forum, it is not advisable to be posting continuously and quoting the same person without seeing any other people's posting, you can do that on a single post.
1064  Other / Meta / Re: Is there any way to delete or remove poll? on: October 24, 2023, 10:43:39 AM
As far as I know, members cannot delete threads themselves. Maybe you mean what was deleted was the content of the thread?
You are right, no one can delete his own topic unless the topic is edited. In a self-moderated thread, only other people's posts can be deleted by the OP but the OP can not delete his own topic unless he edited it. I have corrected it. Both poll and topic can not be deleted but edited. Admin and moderators can do that.
1065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling Generally An Illicit Activity? on: October 24, 2023, 09:37:54 AM
Anything can be used to launder money, gambling is no more utilised for it than anything else. Drug operations often run large amounts of cash through bogus businesses like flower shops and cake stores, taxi ranks etc.

Gambling is probably more of a risk than anything else to be used as a laundering vehicle. Imagine betting a large amount on something supposedly very likely to happen to clean money with winnings and then it loses.
That is just it. Nearly all money involved in laundering are either in banks or in physical form hidden somewhere. If you do not know the launderers, you will not be able to trace the money to money laundering. There are many legit businesses that are owned by well known people but are used to also launder money. If these people are not found guilty, they will never known that they have any money laundered.
1066  Other / Meta / Re: Is there any way to delete or remove poll? on: October 24, 2023, 08:05:53 AM
You can edit poll but you can not delete it.

But probably if it is self-moderated, I do not know if it can be deleted or not. I am only referring to the threads that are not self-moderated.

Edit: if it is self-moderated, you can not also delete poll. I have just tested that and I was not able to delete self-moderated poll unless the whole thread is deleted.
1067  Other / Archival / Re: delete my account on: October 24, 2023, 06:32:01 AM
Wait --there is one more important before OP will vanish his account.
-Delete all your posts that can be found on your post history.
It's not necessary to do.

If you have secret and don't want anyone to know, don't publish it on Internet.

A Bitcointalk member only can delete posts but can not delete a thread, opening post of a thread. Even posts if deleted by OP will still be stored by some scrapers.
OP of a topic can not delete his topic or thread, but not in all cases, if the OP made it self-moderated, he will be able to delete the topics. But OP threads are not self-moderated and he can not delete it. But some people can edit the topic to dot or del in a way it would be like the topic is deleted but not the whole thread.
1068  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin on BNB (Binance Smart) Chain on: October 23, 2023, 08:32:52 AM
Don't forget they're also using this to hype their centralized made-up shitcoin that's now "worth" $33,316,312,875. In the real worth that's enough money to produce 1,000,000 very nice cars, but in crypto, it's just a bubble running on one centralized server.
CZ centralized stable coin BUSD is coming to an end after Paxos no longer mind it. It is now remaining the BNB which may last but yes it is centralized. Don't you know the reason CZ come to crypto space? He has no other reason than to make money from people and he knows that most people are foolish to like centralized means.
1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin were a physical currency. on: October 23, 2023, 08:03:37 AM
It has given people the uncommon privilege of enjoying privacy and bypassing financial middlemen.
Bitcoin is not a privacy coin unless you go for it and be private the way you want to be. Most people just use bitcoin the way they thought it is and not knowing the privacy that you are referring to. But if comparing bitcoin with fiat, it is more private.

OP it is true that the digital nature of bitcoin has made it easy to acquire it. But don't also forget that many countries also have CBDC and they are not still popular.
People are not foolish about CBDCs because they know they are fiat. CBDCs are not the first fiat that is digitally created because fiat has been existing in digital form since many years ago before CBDCs were created. The main reason bitcoin adoption continues is because of its increasing value and price and people see it as an investment, but fiat is not like that. CBDCs are fiat.
1070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin were a physical currency. on: October 23, 2023, 07:50:35 AM
I'm new here and don't know much about bitcointalk forums. But I thought about Bitcoin for a while. At one point I wondered what it would be like if Bitcoin was a physical currency instead of a digital currency. It would not have gained so much popularity, and its price would not have increased so much. If it were a physical currency, it would be very difficult to buy, how would you buy? And had to go to different stores to sell or buy. How difficult it would have been then. Are you thinking about this?
Haven't you read about physical bitcoin called Casascius bitcoin? Due to regulation in United States, the coin was stopped being manufactured. So if there is physical bitcoin, the government would have seen an easy way to stop its adoption and it would become a useless coin.

But bitcoin may not even be of any value if it is only existing in physical form. The blockchain that is decentralized and its digital form makes it an investment that make it well adopted today.
1071  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Careful scammers and hackers using mail spoofing on: October 23, 2023, 06:48:43 AM
Yesterday I received email from my own email saying that he/she has monitored every keystore and all the information about me is all gathered
he has sent me a Bitcoin address and told me that if I did not send any money in the form of Bitcoin he would expose my data has anyone received this kind of email?
What will you do?
It has not happened to me before, but it always happens to big companies and the hacker will also encrypt the information with ransomware or show the company the data they got and to pay money.

  • For me the very first thing that I would do is change my email address password because even though it's not true, we should always update it maybe 2-3 times a month or what you prefer.
Do you know that you can use 2FA app with your email? 2FA for better security. This can help you not to be changing the password all the time.
1072  Other / Meta / Re: A question that needs an answer (please let's come and learn). on: October 22, 2023, 05:07:28 PM
This thread belongs to meta, move it to meta board.

If someone ignores you, you can send merit to the person, it will go successfully.

For ignoring someone mistakenly, this is common to mobile phone users.
1073  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you were to unlearn something about BTC…. on: October 22, 2023, 02:30:40 PM
Have you ever felt having a good knowledge about a certain subject matter on Bitcoin only to start a conversion or thread on the topic and end up discovering the information had lots of mistakes and misconception. How did you really feel about those subject matters and what was your approach towards the observation and correction made by other users on your thread.
That is why we are on this forum. If I make a mistake or I do not get something rightly and I am corrected, I will appreciate the correction and even send merit to the person that corrected me if I have smerits to send. I am happy to be corrected so that I too will be able to correct anyone that make such a mistake next time.

While the concept of Bitcoin in general is broad and wide having a good knowledge of certain topic will require constant research and studying some of the concepts will even require experience and user interactivity. Example is the technical aspect of Bitcoin. I will like to discuss this how long do you spend doing research for a particular topic before making your post or do you have a glimpse of the subject matter get a good summary of it and then start a conversation or quality research is done followed by reviews before engaging in  a conversation?
I have posted some things on this forum before that I researched on very well, but I was corrected sometimes on this forum. There are a lot that are online that are not correct too. But we are going to keep learning by accepting correction.
1074  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 22, 2023, 02:00:11 PM
Many gamblers have hit there target for a daily bet or amount they are aiming for but at the same time they have lost it because they refuse to grow and that is the result of greed.  Greed is what every human being is tempted with and some escape falling from it while many have also fallen on it. If we can control our emotion then it is as if the greed doesn't exist because when it comes we can resist it. It takes a lot of effort to control greed anyway.
Anyone that is addicted to gambling will be greedy. If such people win, they will want to win more until they start to lose which would be what will happen at last. If they lose they will continue to play and lose more. I will say it takes a lot of effort to control greed if someone has not learned lessons, but after having bad experience of losses after greedy gambling, nobody will teach him what to do next time to avoid losses after something like that has affected him negatively many times.
1075  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stainless steel or Titanium on: October 22, 2023, 01:48:37 PM
Trying to cut corners on securing basically the wealth you are trying so hard to increase is just, well, a stupid choice, no offense! Using the cheapest paper, probably writing it down with the cheapest pen and you might end up in two years with something unreadable. I have a contract from 2018 that because was printed on some really bad paper is now just one gray paper, nothing readable, and lamitating that paper won't do much good either.
I have used cheap pen for backup and I the ones I used more than 25 years ago are still clearly seen on a paper. The only paper that I know that is not good has been the thermal paper.

If you get a pen that students are using with the blue ink or black ink, you can use it to backup your seed phrase on a student book paper and it will not fade. If you do not want to use a pen, you can use a pencil. Both backup can last for many decades.

You can do another backup every year.
1076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Currency nature of Bitcoin on: October 21, 2023, 11:00:21 PM
Practically, Bitcoin isn't isolated from the traditional banking system because its price is supported by USD bank liquidity making its trade as a speculative asset rather than a currency.
You can send bitcoin to anyone at anytime. If bitcoin is not adopted like fiat, it is still an asset that its value is increasing and you can send it to anyone. It is a currency.

Satoshi Natamoto envisioned Bitcoin as an alternative to traditional fiat currencies. If Bitcoin had been trading on its core value proposition - the ability to be your own bank - then Bitcoin would have rallied with rising bank uncertainty
And it is. There are many companies that you can use bitcoin as payment and some other companies are working on that.

With bitcoin on noncustodial wallet, you are still your own bank.

After all, Bitcoin network suffers from scalability issues and high transaction fees, leading many to believe that Bitcoin is more of a store of value than an alternative form of cash.
The scalability issue is not the reason people see bitcoin as a store of value, it is because after long period of time, its price do not fall below the previous price.

1078  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are chances of fraud very high on Binance P2P transactions ? on: October 21, 2023, 06:07:38 AM
But if you do not give identity documents in these big websites or exchanges, they will put limit or restrictions on your account. Even to do P2P transactions on Binance, some sellers and buyers demand identity documents and they will deny the deal without these documents.
I think he meant about the other end that you're trading with, the other person but not the exchange.
I think I did not put it the way I supposed to, but you are right, I was not talking about the exchange but about fake sites and ways unscrupulous people are demanding and collecting people's personal identity documents and using it in a wrong way to get verified. If you read the link that I have above, you will see how it works. The scammers use the victim identity to register on Binance and also send money from the victim bank account.
1079  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You data is not safe on centralized exchanges on: October 20, 2023, 02:29:29 PM
Centralized exchanges usually don't share your data with any third parties and the purpose of that data is to prevent you from any illegal activities with your account. I am not seeing anything bad about it.
Are you sure? Are you to director of all exchanges in the world or are you spiritual enough to know that insider work can not lead to misuse of users identity documents? What about if the data is breached and stolen by scammers? With the KYC, there are still scam on centralized exchanges if you are not careful you will be scammed there.
1080  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are chances of fraud very high on Binance P2P transactions ? on: October 20, 2023, 02:21:46 PM
It has not happened to me, but I posted about it some weeks ago. You can read it from these link: You data is not safe on centralized exchanges

This happened in Hong Kong but it can also happen at anywhere in the world. It is an effective way to steal from someone's bank account.

What that is most important is to avoid giving your identity documents to people. Those sites too can misuse your identity documents that you submitted to them.
