1061  Other / Beginners & Help / Some possible ways to avoid phishing attacks and scams on: June 07, 2023, 09:46:47 AM
According to my limited knowledge and understanding of phishing, it is a method used by scammers and fraudsters to bridge and obtain people's personal information on websites, social media platforms, emails, wallets, fake exchanges, etc. This is accomplished by sending phishing messages or links to cloned websites, social media platforms, and wallets in order to steal users' personal information and coins.
People have lost enough assets and funds to scammers as a result of their lack of awareness about what and how phishing looks like.

This thread will talk about some possible ways of avoiding phishing attacks.

Public display of important emails
Downloading of wrong software on your devices
Downloading of wrong wallets
Interacting with the fake Dexes

Public display of important Emails: Scammers use email addresses to send phishing links to users; if the user's important emails are not exposed in the same way that forum emails are programmed to be hidden, it will be difficult for scammers to send phishing links to the user because they cannot easily access or compromise the email unless the user wants it exposed, which in this case can lead to a compromise of your forum account, and scammers can use it to send some phishing links.

Downloading of wrong software on your devices: Most software, if not obtained from illegitimate places, has security dangers such as malware, which easily exposes the user's information to risk. If the malware is connected to any of the user's wallets, it will take the user's important details and begin sending phishing links and messages to the user. It may even steal the user's funds.
To avoid phishing, it is best to always download software from its official website.

Downloading of wrong wallets: Scammers take their time to clone similar wallets that look exactly the same as the original wallet; some newbies do unknowingly go ahead and download some of these fake wallets, which always results in the theft of the user's Bitcoin, the installation of malware in the user's device, and exposure to phishing attacks.
Using their official websites to download wallets will solve this problem and limit the number of wallet hacks caused by malware and phishing assaults.

Interacting with the fake Dexes: Decentralized exchanges have dominated the crypto and there have been growth in the good ones and the fake ones, the fake ones are known for stealing coins and private keys when you interact with them, they can go to the length of sweeping your entire wallet and also have access to your private keys without your knowledge, it is very important to use the reputable ones so you don't lose your private keys and money to the wrong people.

These are some of the phishing that is popular in crypto when it comes to phishing attacks on how scammers try to intrude on people's wallets and personal information, stay safe, and don't fall for these cheap scams.
1062  Economy / Exchanges / With these acts, do we still believe in Centralized Exchanges? on: May 22, 2023, 07:52:40 AM
Recently, Binance has changed some deposit addresses for its users, which they said is due to security, and some of the forum users here were on the support list as it is good for such acts for security reasons.

Hotbit Exchange has now announced that all CEX operations will cease as of May 22, 2023, though users will still be able to withdraw all of their funds prior to June 21. They believe the former management employee, who quit working there in April, was involved in a project that violated Hotbit rules.

My questions here are:
1. Can centralized exchanges be fully relied on again?
2. Can we trust them with our money even as all those recent ones are given room for the users to withdraw their funds?
3. And can we depend on this opportunity to allow users to withdraw their funds and keep trusting them?

I feel that if the CEX management does not trust themselves, then why are we trusting them and giving them our coins to keep for us?

Hotbit has given three reasons for this action, which are as follows:
Quote
1. deterioration of the operating conditions.
2. change in the crypto industry trend.
3. Hotbit has also suffered numerous problems, such as repeated cyber attacks and the exploitation of project defects by malicious users, resulting in significant losses.

1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TOP BANKS THAT'S INVEST IN CRYPTO Today! on: May 07, 2023, 09:42:38 AM
That indicates that if banks wish to decebtralize the system by investing in Bitcoin for future gain, why are we putting our money in those banks to use for their investment rather than directly investing in Bitcoin?
The banking system is advantageous for bankers because customers save money in their accounts, which bankers then use for future business.
1065  Economy / Economics / Re: Without government job we can survive on: May 01, 2023, 04:30:34 PM
Let us be realistic to ourselves, is good to extreme to wait for government to make provision of every in a country, sometimes when we graduate from higher colleges we expected government to create employment opportunities but in some points government keep adamant of making employment be visible and available to the mass,  on my instinct I said without government employment man can survive, I started a popcorn 🍿 business which I managed alone but right now have workers under me which I'm paying and now planning to establish another business.
The challenge is that some governments are completely unsupportive; instead of adding physical education to the school curriculum so that it will be supportive before creating job opportunities for their graduates, they failed to do so, and as a result, citizens wait until the government creates employment opportunities for them. Some people can live without jobs in the government.
1066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does Bitcoiner still support the use of centralized exchanges? on: April 26, 2023, 04:22:06 PM
In my view, the reason why Bitcoiners still use centralized exchanges can be explained by several factors. One of the main reasons is the convenience and accessibility that these exchanges offer. They make it easy to buy and sell Bitcoin for fiat currency and have a user-friendly interface. Moreover, centralized exchanges tend to have better liquidity, allowing for quicker trades at favorable prices compared to decentralized exchanges.
With the recent case of FTX is there any comfortability and reliability on centralized exchanges again?
As I go through the response from my senior members in the forum, I understand how risky it is to rely on centralized exchanges, and I understand that we can buy our Bitcoin from them and send them to our wallets not to leave the Bitcoin in there.
1067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why does Bitcoiner still support the use of centralized exchanges? on: April 22, 2023, 06:09:24 AM
I did some research on Bitcoin because I was interested in it, and I discovered that the key principles of Bitcoin are peer-to-peer, anonymity, pseudonymity, decentralization, and operating without a middleman to ensure that Bitcoiners can have financial freedom. However, despite knowing that Bitcoiners adhere to these tenets, why do some Bitcoiners act contrary to them? Why do they continue to support centralized exchanges, use them, and retain their Bitcoin there?
1068  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My experience navigating through this platform on: April 16, 2023, 09:32:40 AM
This forum is too big, I am still going around trying to get familiar with the forum activities, I have some questions to ask, but I am still trying to put them in order because of the standard of the forum.
1069  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin and Gambling on: April 16, 2023, 09:22:12 AM
They are two distinct concepts with different meanings and approaches, so I don't think we can compare them side by side with the intention of comparing them. Bitcoin is a digital currency, and gambling is a pastime enjoyed for its aesthetic value. However, some individuals become addicted to gambling because they have made the decision to support themselves via it.

1071  Other / Beginners & Help / Hi all, I am new here and I need some pieces of advice and guidance. on: March 28, 2023, 10:05:44 AM
Hi all, My name is Abu-Naim, I am new here.

I discovered this forum while conducting research for bitcoin-related advice before beginning any Bitcoin investment because I lack sufficient knowledge about bitcoin.
When I first discovered this forum, I saw so many topics in various sections in which I was trying to ask some questions, but there was no way, I only see previous and next topic up there until I registered an account, and now I see that I can reply and create my own topic as well, I hope I am fully welcomed.

Please direct me to the sections where I can get good recommendations on the types of wallets to use, as well as basic information about the wallet and how the Bitcoin wallet works.

Thank you all.
