Can the volume also be set to display the daily volume of each asset?

I think this is an interesting analogy:

The above is how "lab-cultured" microorganisms behave. If you grow bacteria on "minimal media", which reproduces the usual natural environment more accurately, they do not do this. Instead there is an extended stationary phase. Interestingly if you collect the bacteria/yeast/whatever still surviving at the end of the death phase, they remain in an extended stationary phase even when given excess nutrients.

Interested, link to source if you have it.

There's a reason why this paper is nicknamed The Torygraph.

That's why I mentioned it. The Guardian has a similarly left wing bias.

One of the odd things is that there are no US equivalent of the Times, Mail, Express or the Telegraph.  Its like only left wing Americans own newspapers.

Wall street journal is supposedly right wing.

WSJ and the FT both have a very simple philosophy:  "Socialism for the rich and the free market for the rest." A true right winger would have let the banks go down - both those rags were clamouring for a bailout.

Newspaper owners are whatever wing that allows them to grow their empire:

https://www.wsws.org/articles/2006/may2006/murd-m10.shtml

Do newspapers even make money anymore?  The fact that they still are around and not profitable shows that they still have power in swaying public opinion.

Why can't we have something as cool as Square's new payment by phone.  No swiping cards and not scanning QR codes.

News source U.S. bill ending oil company tax cuts clears Senate hurdle.

I know it is politically advantageous to say you voted to tax the oil companies, but don't politicians realize that taxes is also a cost of doing business.  If the cost of doing business increases either a company wills top doing that business or raise prices.  They can't run a business and sell the product for less than their investors demand.

Are they trying for Trickle-down Taxation now?

Oil companies can cope.  The energy sector is booming.  If taxes are needed, surely the sector that has cash flow to pay them are the sectors to collect from?

EDIT:

wft - http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/26/us-usa-tax-bigoil-idUSBRE82P0DX20120326

13% tax on a hugely profitable company that gets subsidies for its drilling costs and you are complaining ?

Yea I complain because the tax is essentially paid by the consumer.  If I am a street vendor that sells hot dogs and the government increases the tax on hot dog sellers then I will charge my customers the original price + the new tax amount.  When a government increases a tax on a business then they are making that business a tax collector as that business just increases the prices on the goods or services they produce which is paid by the consumer.

To the above poster:

This isnt a regulated industry, glbse isn't licensed by any gov to my knowledge. So insider trading would be expected.
As far as insider trading, I did have knowledge of how the ID situation was progressing as I was directly involved. I did give public notice the situation was going to be resolved very soon - that was about an hour or two before I actually bought the bonds.

I think the problem is that you could have been 99% sure that the ID situation was going to be resolved but everyone else could not be that sure as your projection of the resolution was not backed by anything.  You were able to trade on that knowledge as you were directly involved in the mediation but other people did not have that knowledge and thus perceived more risk.  It would probably have been better if you stated that you would not trade for a week after the mediation was completed.  I do appreciate you taking the time to resolve the issue though.  I think you did well in stating you had an interest in getting the dispute between nefario and goat resolved, but I think you could have done a little better in the post-mediation time in purchasing shares or bonds right after the dispute was resolved.

Except for market making opportunities, I have decided to stay out of any contracts on GLBSE in the long term that don't confirm the ID of any of the asset issuers on GLBSE, like Garr has completed.
1069  Economy / Lending / Re: I am looking to borrow 15,000 BTC to expand my current bussiness. on: April 06, 2012, 05:31:11 AM
Good point Death and taxes.  A mortgage would be at 5% tops.  This is a strange request indeed.

I'll just leave this here.

http://wiki.bitcoin-otc.com/wiki/Using_bitcoin-otc#Safety:_avoiding_fraud

A 5% interest rate would be nice.  The properties that I purchase cost under 30K and need repairs.  The traditional bank isn't willing to lend out money on a house that isn't liveable.  As far as the fraud issue goes, I am willing to divulge all my business information as well as personal.  I would also sign a promissory note so if I didn't pay someone could take legal action.  My assets are a lot more then the loan that I'm asking for.

Can you take a loan out on an asset that is already paid for and use that money to buy/fix your new property?
1070  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TyGrr-Bank 3% weekly dividends (2.5% starting April 3rd) on: April 06, 2012, 05:24:43 AM
So currently he owes me 15.34 BTC for the price difference in bonds and 2.778 for the dividends.
After a bit of thought, I've decided I will cover this. 18.118 is due. 1.38 was just transferred. The remaining 16.738BTC will be covered tomorrow morning.

Cheers,

Ben

Wow, that was unexpected. And in my opinion not really needed. I understand why you are doing this but its a free market and reversing trades can not be the norm.

@hashking In the future if you sell then you sell. Some one was willing to take the risk that I was not going to default. They should not be punished cuz you changed your mind after panicking. If I did default could they ask you for their money back? lulz.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.  I hope for Kluge not everyone asks for their dividends they did not receive.
1071  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] TyGrr Tech on: April 06, 2012, 04:41:52 AM
So for the bonding, a listed asset on GLBSE basically borrows money from investors and saves a portion of that to pay them back in case the asset creator fails?

The thought is that it wouldn't be invested funds used for the bond, but profits from operations.  I will "give it a rest" as Nefario has requested and stop responding to questions on this thread.

For a bond the only time I put up a bond was with my own cash as I never borrow money, but I am sure other people and companies cannot afford that.  I assume that the owners of companies that borrow money that is needed not only for the loan to open the company but also on the bond have to put up some kind of collateral.

I don't know how it would work with GLBSE but anything that gives some protection to shareholders, but I prefer a prediction market for asset failures more.
1072  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TyGrr-Bank 3% weekly dividends (2.5% starting April 3rd) on: April 06, 2012, 04:37:19 AM
I put a small bid up at .1  I will add more to the account if people want to sell more. Because of what happened I will not longer keep 1000 BTC in my account. If you would like to sell back to me at .1 that is fine, let me know how many and I will add the BTC. I can do this now because the account is unlocked.

Thank you, Jared

Then why won't you reimburse me for my shares and pay me my dividend.  If you buried your rules in different spots of your thread thats your fault.

I understand your pain but how can you prove you even owned those shares?  Also, you had plenty of opportunity to read the whole thread.  I know I did.
1073  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The news lies on: April 06, 2012, 04:35:14 AM
So I kept hearing about this george zimmerman shooting a black kid story and finally got around to looking it up. I assumed it was just being sensationalized, but holy crap.

Here is what I thought from AM radio: Some racist white ex cop was going around a neighborhood playing vigilante and shot a black kid for coming at him.

Here is what happened. A hispanic insurance agent who got put in charge of the neighborhood watch called 911 reporting someone acting strange. Then when he went to confront him shit went down one way or the other and the black kid got shot. Note the black "kid", while not huge, is 17 and larger than me (6'3" 160). Of course the pictures shown of him are from when he was like 12.

I do my best to be wary of anything the news reports, but they even got me with this one.

Note: This thread is not supposed to be about this specific event, it is about how the media cannot be trusted to correctly report even the most basic facts of a story.

While I don't think Mr. Zimmerman should be accused for homicide I do believe he should be charged with negligent manslaughter.  If not that he should and most likely will be held liable for killing the kid.

Mr. Zimmerman is a concealed handgun licensee.  He went through the training and they do teach conflict resolution in that class.  All the facts have not be presented in the case and maybe never will, but what I heard from a news source is that he called the police because a suspicious person was wandering around the neighborhood in the rain like he was high on drugs.  The emergency dispatcher told him not to confront the suspicious person.  He could have ended the confrontation there.  Call 911 and get back in your car.  Of course, he should have been minding his own business in the first place.  I think it is overstepping to call police because a kid looks high.

I think in the liberal or black community the perception is that if Mr. Zimmerman was black and the kid was white then Mr. Zimmerman would right now be locked up in prison facing lethal injection.

Wow, you demand I post a video of myself with honey and send out my ID but you wont give out any ID? Seems fair I guess...   Once Nefario locks your account how will you resolve this? Will the share holders get anything back? Hmm...

I am not lying about my operations, lying about where I live, lying about having a Thai wife, using a photoshopped avatar, and I don't have multiple listings on the GLBSE.  Therefore, Nefario will not lock my account.  However, for the sake of addressing your genuine concern...  I am pushing Nefario to instate a 'bonded by the GLBSE' program that will allow me to put up funds that will be paid out to my investors in the event the worst case scenario were to occur.

How about that video of you and your wife with some of your honey in Thailand?  I noticed you've been ignoring that request, but you are obviously aware of it now.  I said I would apologize to you once you did that.  Why the reservations?  Your picture is already in your avatar.  What are you hiding?

Give it a rest dude.

So for the bonding, a listed asset on GLBSE basically borrows money from investors and saves a portion of that to pay them back in case the asset creator fails?

I think nefario should request some personal verification from all people listing assets on GLBSE or use some third-party verifier.

1076  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TyGrr-Bank 3% weekly dividends (2.5% starting April 3rd) on: April 06, 2012, 04:13:53 AM
His offering does not state that. It states that bomds will be purchased back at .1 bitcoins.

Ouch, that is rough and you sold them for ~0.08342 BTC each.

I would be interested in knowing who purchased up all the low asks an hour before dividends were paid.  Seems a little too convenient to me.
1077  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TyGrr-Bank 3% weekly dividends (2.5% starting April 3rd) on: April 06, 2012, 04:08:15 AM
I PM'D Goat this afternoon asking him that I should have still received my dividends even though I sold my bonds before they were paid.  I ended up selling 926 bonds on Tuesday and Wednesday this week before the whole Goat and Nefario drama happenned.

His first repsond through email on the GLBSE was
Nefario is the only one with the technical skills to wort this out. I'm all about free market and he is about regulation. He is your man!

So I emailed Nefario and he said that Goat is responsible for this.

I PM'd Goat and told him what Nefario said, Goat responds with
okay, make a discussion thread about this if you want me to respond. i hope you are not just trolling :/

I toldl Goat that it would be easier just to handle this through pm.

His response is:

you are saying I scammed you right? You need to take this to the trading discussion sub-forum so you can be educated how bonds work. :/
I do not have time for this right now, Sorry.

I never said that he scammed me.  All I did was ask for money that was owed to me and how do we resolve this.

According to his offering
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=67818.0

In my opinion he sold bonds not knowing how the GLBSE would handle trading on them and promised a .1 BTC per bond buyback.

I bought 926 bonds at 99.90 and sold 926 bonds at 77.252.  I didn't received Goats promised .1 BTC per bond like promised in his post.
So currently he owes me 15.34 BTC for the price difference in bonds and 2.778 for the dividends.

Edit:

I will be selling a 2000 more bonds and lowering the payment to 2.5% on April 3rd. This means that the dividends on March 27th and April 3rd will be at 3% but after that it will be 2.5% until I change it (odds are lower it)

End Edit:

TyGrr-Bank Now operational on GLBSE!

TyGrr-Bank is a BTC bond that will pay weekly dividends every Tuesday 6:00 PM Thailand time.

This is an easy and safe way to lend small amounts of BTC.

The current rate is 3% each week!

Each bond will be sold at .103 BTC and will be bought back at any time at .1 BTC.

This spread is here because you do not need to hold the bond for a full week to get the dividend payment.

Thanks!

Maybe this should get delisted.

I think GLBSE and goat has stated that you have to actually hold the bond for the payment to be received.  I think this is one of those special circumstances that just lost you money.  I also had bonds during the crisis and was not paid, but they were bought from me before the dividends were paid.  Luckily I purchased mine under what I sold them for.

I think the TyGrr-Bank contract should be updated whenever GLBSE allows this to occur.  This would make the day that payments would be sent out, the percentage of the dividend, and any procedures for late payments.
1078  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] TyGrr Tech on: April 06, 2012, 03:59:58 AM
OgNasty also doesn't seem to be verified on GLBSE and mergedmining.  Has GLBSE just not been updated?  Also, unlike TyGrr, MergedMining does not release a balance sheet.  Which is fine if that is OK with the share holders.

Nope.  Not a case of the GLBSE not being updated.  The only evidence that I am not running a scam is the image showing the current hashing power of the company which is provided by a 3rd party (btcstats.net).  This is due to me being a financial analyst for a publicly traded company that covers financial instruments and legally not being able to confirm my identity as the issuer of shares in a company without risking the loss of my employment and barring of my securities licenses.  Let the tinfoil hats fall where they may.

Wow, you demand I post a video of myself with honey and send out my ID but you wont give out any ID? Seems fair I guess...   Once Nefario locks your account how will you resolve this? Will the share holders get anything back? Hmm...

Hey now, put that tin-foil hat away.
1079  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] TyGrr Tech on: April 06, 2012, 02:29:02 AM
Quote from: OgNasty
The community was warned, Nefario tried his best to stop Goat from scamming everyone and alerted his shareholders.  No investor at this point can be angry when this goes bad.

I also have been given doxx by Goat, it is legit.

Was his address a Thai address or a US address?  Notice how nobody will answer this question because everything I have stated is true.  He is a liar with a photoshopped avatar and is selling honey using a 3rd party to convince people he is in Thailand so that when it goes bad he will feel safe in his Mom's basement.

Edit:  I wish I could stop responding but I just have a thing for liars.

Why are you on such a crusade against Goat? Shouldn't a higher standard of proof be required before we start throwing the word "scam" around on this forum? Every other thread has one guy calling another guy a scammer on it. I know there are actually a lot of scams going on, but most of these scam accusations (not just yours) don't seem to have any evidence backing them.

For full disclosure, I own none of Goat's stock, nor do I know him or have any interest in his success or failure. I'm just puzzled at how people can get so completely convinced of something with no real evidence backing it. I'm not saying Goat isn't a scammer, either. I just don't see why you care so much.

OgNasty also doesn't seem to be verified on GLBSE and mergedmining.  Has GLBSE just not been updated?  Also, unlike TyGrr, MergedMining does not release a balance sheet.  Which is fine if that is OK with the share holders.

Please post designs in this thread and PM with your bid amount.

Yikes, I hope Cyberdyne was asking for a portfolio and not specs of the requested work.  If not then you should teach Cyberdyne some etiquette.

http://www.no-spec.com/about/

Thank you for the link.

To clarify, we invite you to post low-quality/watermarked draft designs so that we can provide feedback on them.

I often connect people that need designers or translators with actual designers or translators.  My advise is that you will get a better design and better relationships with better designers if you take a look at someone's portfolio and hiring that designer based on their previous work.  The reason is, it is not fair to have a multiple designers do work for free hoping that you might hire them.  Most of the designers that do spec work are not good designers.

Also, with the nature of the designing business, designers put risk to their livelihoods posting outlines of a work.  It could lead other people to make more designs based on that work.  The person that did the most work in coming up with the novel design does not get the job, and the unimaginative designer that tweaked the initial design does.

Unfortunately, all my designers are booked up, but my advise is to ask to look at portfolios of designers and choose a few you like.  Based on those do some interviews and give them some ideas of the work you want.  From that hire the designer and put the money in escrow until completion of the work to your set contract.  I guarantee you will get a lot more interest from designers and a better piece of art will be produced.
