1061  Economy / Economics / Re: It ain't meant to be easy on: August 11, 2023, 11:08:52 PM
Just an FYI, don't be fooled by the "Legendary" ranking around here. I remember when I was new I thought that it meant something, until I saw a good majority of them open their mouths and say stupid shit constantly.  Many are still bought accounts, or people who ranked up easily under the new system.  To your point of working hard in life, you're right, the same applies now to becoming legendary as you really have to earn it these days.

Anyways, keep grinding everyone.
1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as good store for value on: August 11, 2023, 11:05:08 PM
You mention how a lot of people only think of bitcoin in terms of "getting rich" and that is certainly the case, but thinking of it as in terms of a hedge is still in that same arena of investing.  I love bitcoin because of what it represents as an alternative money solution, but I guess it's an okay hedge..but nothing like gold.  Precious metals are a lot more stable.  They don't have the upside, of course, but also of course, that's not what hedges are for.
1063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 11, 2023, 10:38:54 PM
He can get another chance. He shouldn't have gone to Taiwan imo.
You can't blame him; he saw an opportunity overseas, so he grabbed that opportunity. However, with the recent news that his salary will be cut a bit, I guess he might be interested in playing with the NBA again. Let's hope that there's a team that would pick him up.

He is already 37 years old, not young anymore, but he can still play. With his experience and confidence, I'm sure he will be a big help. All we can do now is wait for the developments. Let's follow Howard's journey; who knows, he might end up with the Lakers again.

Yeah, since there's no team offers him a service, so there's no other option but to play overseas, I think he still has that capability as he can
still jump high and give that hassle to help as a good defender.

If a team will give him that opportunity to play back and let him provide some minutes to a player that will need some rest.

Like what you said, we never know if there's still a team that will consider him and will let him play and showcase the help
that he can still provide.

He had a good run oversees, but still though, he wanted to return to the NBA and most likely retire in that league. I guess the league has change a lot now, they are not looking or a pure Center like him. All they want to see is a good big man that can shoot outside as well, not just defend the rim and grab rebounds.

But a prime Howard in early 2000's is really great to watch. He can defend, block shoots and dunk the ball with ease as no one can stop that kind of specimen back then. They were just cut short by Kobe and the Lakers when they reach the finals and didn't win the championship.

Almost being compared to Shaq back in his prime, and same with how Shaq manages to bring the Magic to the finals, they also
runout against the Kobe's Lakers.

I guess that's what he wanted and still failing to find a team that will allow him to retire his jersey, with how the system changes, where shooters
are more dominant compared to the power inside.

His chance to come back is slim unless there are some insiders that will back him up to sign a deal.

He was definitely the best center in the league for some time, but Dwight was no where near the player Shaq was.  Shaq is the most dominant player to ever play the game (not best, but most dominant).  Dwight was also compared to Shaq so often because obviously they both played a good bulk of their careers in Orlando, or at least a good part of their careers, but Dwight named himself "Superman" (something Shaq did long before him) and totally just tried stealing the whole Shaq Superman thing..it was weird.

Anyways, Dwight's time in the league is absolutely over.
1064  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Legality of Online Gambling in Different Countries on: August 11, 2023, 10:35:18 PM
I live in Illinois and let me tell you gambling has absolutely blown up here, both in physical form as well as online.  Honestly if you drive 2 miles from my home in any direction, you'll find at least 10-15 places that have video poker/slot machines or simply parlors within that amount of space.  It's crazy really.  Anyways we can use a host of online websites ( I even heard ESPN is opening their own) but I still prefer to use sites like ones we are advertising on here for.
1065  Economy / Collectibles / Re: New Binary eagle on: August 11, 2023, 03:51:34 AM
Lol I’ve got plenty to say about this absolute horseshit and the companies behind it. I’m too tired right now to get in to it, but I wouldn’t trust Power Coin or Top World Coin. Shady ass company(s)
1066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 10, 2023, 08:02:45 PM
While waiting for the time to pass until September, I started watching a pretty decent docuseries on Netflix called Quarterback. ...

Cool, will check it out.

I've heard good things about this, and I think maybe I've discussed this in this thread before, but the whole reason I've avoided it is because I absolutely can not stand Patrick Mahomes wife Brittney (however you spell her name) and I know she's a big focus in the series.

I did watch Hard Knocks last night though and definitely recommend it.  The Jets are about as exciting as a team can be right now and of course there's plenty of Aaron Rodgers so far.  He actually comes off like a cool guy though and I know that's not true lol, so there's definitely a bit of "fluff".
1067  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the market still profitable for new projects? on: August 10, 2023, 07:53:05 PM
This is extremely vague and entirely depends on a large number of factors.  First off location, competition and things of this nature need to be strongly studied.  Nothing dumber that opening a new business without doing your proper homework first.

But the answer is yes, of course there is...if it seperates its self from the competition or if it's a project that "solves" a real world issue that needed being solved  (this could be a huge number of things, and very much like crypto coins... "what does this coin offer that the others dont")
1068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A advise to my friend about his decision on: August 10, 2023, 07:50:31 PM
lol, you're friend sounds kinda dumb and immature if I'm being honest. No offense, but just saying.  I've had a lot of friends who are ignorant to how bitcoins work and have educated them, often times doing things like teaching them how to load a hardware wallet and things of that nature, but I've never ran in to an inheritance situations like this.

There are actually books written around this subject, your friend should check them out.
1069  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 10, 2023, 07:47:18 PM
Here in the United States gambling has very much gone down the same road that the legalization of marijuana has gone...legalization is booming and negative stigmas are being torn down.  Now there's still plenty of people whom have an issue with both, but that is mostly "baby boomers' or "boomers" as we call them, and they are dying off and become much less of an influence nationwide as they had been before.

Anyone who thinks negatively of my gambling habits (which are completely responsible) can kiss my ass.
1070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sudden Wealth Syndrome (SWS) In Gambling on: August 10, 2023, 07:43:47 PM
Cheesy  Sudden wealth syndrome, I can't say I've heard of this before and not real sure this is an actual thing or if you made it up..either way...I would love to contract SWS!

The truth about this is people overall are simply financially illiterate, and they think "wow, I've got all this money all of a sudden, it's going to last forever" and often times it simply vanishes with over spending.  People tend to not do a good job of saving, and think that since they won, that they should keep gambling and it'll keep happening.
1071  Economy / Economics / Re: The world continues dumping US dollar (Gold, New World Order, World War III) on: August 09, 2023, 03:18:35 PM
I understand that the US dollar has been taking a hit, but it's still the worlds reserve currency and quite frankly there's no other fiat that could replace it on the global stage.  The US is still the worlds number one economic super power...that's just the facts. China lies about all of their reporting and the Yuan is surely never going to become the worlds reserve currency, Russia is ran by a mad dictator and they clearly aren't as "advanced" as we once thought...so I just don't see this "new order" coming to fruition.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: think before investing on: August 09, 2023, 03:13:23 PM
Learn* not lean.

I have to ask, why does it always have to be about "investing" and "profits" when it comes to bitcoin?  I'm not trying to come down on you, but that's not what learning about bitcoin is all about.  Learning about bitcoin is understanding why it was created, how it functions (the blockchain) and things like how it could change the way we look at and use money and how we use "money" moving forward.

Profits and what not are great, but lets not forget bitcoin is inherently NOT an investment.
1073  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Peer pressure as a substantial gambling catalyst. on: August 09, 2023, 03:10:58 PM
I was on a date last night and the girl thought that I had told her I wasn't in to gambling for some reason. I told her quite the contrary, and being a first date it lead to some good conversation (ie things weren't quietly awkward lol).  Anyways besides trying to impress a girl/date who really likes gambling herself, I never feel any sort of pressure from anyone. If I ever did, I would tell that person to stfu and probably never talk to them again lol.  Friends don't pressure friends like that, or they shouldn't.
1074  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 09, 2023, 03:07:09 PM
Wolf - thanks for setting up the discord channel.  We have one for the bitcointalk league I run and it's a lot of fun having a place where we can chat freely without annoying the ever living shit out of moderators in this thread lol.

Anyone have any drafts yet or start running mock drafts?  I had my one draft for my new keeper league, and have a ran a few mocks.  God damn I love NFL football season Smiley
1075  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: August 09, 2023, 03:03:56 PM
I watched some of the fight and then watched the highlights of the fights the next day.  I am once again annoyed that someone didn't know the f out of Jake Paul ( I would prefer him and his douche of a brother both get knocked out every fight they take), but of course he wasn't fighting a boxer per usual.

When are these dudes going to fight legitimate pro boxers their own age??

Figured I’d kick this off with my emerald Guardian (plan to purchase the diamond version soon).

1078  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: August 05, 2023, 01:23:37 AM
My buddy who seemingly gets tickets for every major sports event on this planet is of course at the weigh in / press conference whatever they call this pre-fight ordeal these days (I’m a causal obviously) and just posted this on his instagram feed. Thought I’d share.

I will probably try and stream the fight (match). I haven’t been paying very close attention to it, but I’m kinda getting intrigued now.

Edit: here’s some video of them clownin with each other  - https://imgur.com/a/MsNOArB
1079  Economy / Economics / Re: How Long in Years Should I Wait Before I Close Down an Unprofitable Business on: August 05, 2023, 12:19:59 AM
This is the type of thing that I studied at business school in college ( university ). By saying that any business that isn't profitable in 3 years should be put out to pasture, you're ignoring an avalanche of variables that could be at play that make this "3 year and dead" theory nonsense.

It truly depends on a thousand different factors, location, when you projected to break even/a profit, competition, overhead etc etc etc
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 will determined bitcoin fate on: August 05, 2023, 12:16:48 AM
lol you seem to like the word five huh? ( I'm just messing with ya ).  That said, when people to to derive patterns off of bitcoins history, I find it kind of silly being that it's still a new technology in it's infancy, and so it's history is brand new, and trying to derive patterns, especially patters of five, for something that been around for what, 13 years.. that just doesn't really make any sense.
