is this interesting info? if so, I'll keep posting once in a while.

10602  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] btctip.com- send bitcoins with a tweet on: March 28, 2012, 07:43:16 PM
Update:

The 'mBTC' bug has been fixed. 'mBTC' is read as millibits now, not bitcoins.

thanks, awesome. thanks for the generous tip, too.

I finally managed to tip someone (stacyherbert).

I think this is a great way to "infect" people.

now what happens if I send a tweet to two people like

Quote
hey @maxkeiser and @stacyherbert have some #btctip 100 mBTC

what would happen? does the "#btctip" have to be directly after the @[user]?
10603  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin up. on: March 28, 2012, 07:23:29 PM
i'd like to start a subscription service similar to the other 2 guys on this forum.  i would charge whatever they are (haven't looked) and would send out emails 3x per week with charts etc.  I could supplement here too if thats what ppl want.

it would be based on my cycle theory combined with my years of experience, intuition, and knowledge of financial markets.

i would follow Bitcoin, gold/silver, stocks, commodities, and bonds.  for anyone who's followed my recommendations since the 8/11 gold thread can see that i've called every major corner in stocks, gold/silver, miners, etc, since then.  this has been no small feat.

is there any interest in this?  either indicate it here or in a pm to me.

I'd be interested.

About pricing: the BTC 5 s3052 is charging seems too high for me and I think I'm not alone. There's quite a few people (me included) that cannot easily make this up even with good trading decisions.

Maybe you could consider to become the subscription service with the "best value per buck"? You'd surely have more followers with a low price.
10604  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold: I smell a trap on: March 28, 2012, 05:25:29 PM
it doesn't matter what they promised.

oh no, but you can trust them this time, I'm sure! Look at Bernankes face, don't you just trust this guy instinctively?

He's even in the blockchain, as you probably know (strings -n 20 blk0001.dat):

Would it be possible to make your android wallet work for android 2.1? (I can't upgrade, lowly phone)

Sorry I can't get it running on 2.1 because it depends on java.util.concurrent which isn't available in the old SDK.

Too bad. Well, thanks for trying and getting the info back to me (us). Keep going, blockchain.info is such a great site! Incredibly fast, too.
10606  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service on: March 28, 2012, 04:57:27 PM
I think the server had better be outside the jurisdiction related to the event described below:

American ISPs to launch massive copyright spying scheme on July 12

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/03/15/american-isps-to-launch-massive-copyright-spying-scheme-on-july-12/

afaik it's in the netherlands or in ireland. not sure. however, this kind of thing will always be a certain danger.
10607  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 28, 2012, 04:26:51 PM
ok, now what do we do to make this known? post comments in /r/gonewild ?

was thinkin it mightve been the feds :-D

still - we need to get this venue back up and running. it's my dividends we're not earning!

I fail to see the importance of your dividends over the dividends of other people.

If you're not content with how this venue is being run, I offer to buy your shares, orders are on glbse.

Gosh, please don't take my posts literal in every imaginable offensive way.

I only care about "my" dividends since they go to ME. I am fully aware that all other shares are rewarded the same amount. I wasn't trying to make my revenue seem more important than, say, yours.

That said, I am NOT content with how this venue is being run, that should be obvious. Are you?
I believe this could be a profitable business that is exactly why I did buy the shares.

I also posted that I'd be supportive of a motion to raisa capital to get it fixed/developed (magnet links anyone?).

I apologize for getting a bit agitated. Sorry 'bout that.

No harm done.
Let's think of ways to move this bitch back to functional.

Well, the problem is mjmurfys real-life workload that obviously doesn't allow him to do anything substantial for bitcointorrentz. I'm sure he's motivated but just doesn't have the time. Bringing someone else in would also cost him time and as he said, there's other stuff on this server, so this might not be an easy way, even if we raise more capital.

Orders don't seem to be sorting correctly by per share amount.  Below is how MergedMining sales orders are currently displayed.

Sell orders
QUANTITY@PRICE
100@0.155
100@0.16
100@0.165
100@0.175
61@0.17
309@0.15125
78@0.154

I like the idea of merging 'Buy orders' with 'Sell orders' and display one table like this instead

image linked from 2.0 feature request thread

that would solve the sorting and make a nice market depth table

yes please. and most awesome would be to have one's own order integrated into that table somehow. That way, one can see all relevant data in one table.
10611  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Girls of Reddit's r/GoneWild on: March 28, 2012, 07:53:41 AM
there will be girls just writing a few "firstbits" at random,
and then there will be some guys sending to that firstbits

some addresses will actually be valid to receive bitcoin...

maybe we should write up clear and easy guide. probably best done as a youtube video?

10613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin botnets and the mysterious solominer on: March 27, 2012, 10:19:31 PM
Could it happen that a botnet would gain 51% of the hashing power?
20% seems like a big number to me already.

And that's why people need to get more miners online. And mining for either themselves or in a number of different pools.

Do you expect miners to mine unprofitably?
10614  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [BETA] MTGox websocket API, testers wanted on: March 27, 2012, 10:12:20 PM
Here's my version. Just yesterday I found out that I need to handle exceptions in "response = urllib2.urlopen(req)" line in connect(). I couldn't understand why the script had stopped, but found out it was because this line had thrown a ConnectionRefused exception. So it's continually improving as I find out the various ways it can fail. Still haven't gotten rid of the SSL errors though.

https://github.com/runeksvendsen/traidor/blob/master/socketio.py

thanks, so cool.

it bails in line 94 for me, though, with:

Code:
Exception in thread Thread-4:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/threading.py", line 530, in __bootstrap_inner
    self.run()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/threading.py", line 483, in run
    self.__target(*self.__args, **self.__kwargs)
  File "/home/nick/bitcoin/traidor/socketio.py", line 94, in thread_func
    S.callback(S, msg[10:])
TypeError: onMessage() takes exactly 2 arguments (3 given)

this is because you added a parameter to the callback function and I still pass a callback function that takes one parameter less.

note that the "test_callback" function is in global scope, not in the class.

suggestion: If you need the instance of the socket.io in testing mode you can just use the global variable "sio" instead of passing S as follows (changes marked in bold):

Quote
def test_callback(msg):
   import ast
   print 'msg: ', msg
   #convert received message string into dictionary
   msg_dict = ast.literal_eval(msg)
   #print msg_dict
   if msg_dict['op'] == 'subscribe':
      if msg_dict['channel'] == 'd5f06780-30a8-4a48-a2f8-7ed181b4a13f' or msg_dict['channel'] == '24e67e0d-1cad-4cc0-9e7a-f8523ef460fe':
         sio.unsubscribe(msg_dict['channel'])

that way everything remains compatible and I can use your code
10615  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] btctip.com- send bitcoins with a tweet on: March 27, 2012, 09:16:40 PM
Hmm, I just sent this tweet:

Quote from: @cotta3
#btctip @maxkeiser 2 mBTC hey max, just sent you 2 millibits via twitter, cool, aye?

Nothing shows up under "Activity History". What did I do wrong?
10616  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] btctip.com- send bitcoins with a tweet on: March 27, 2012, 09:10:28 PM
I'm a bit confused. Just saw this:

@AminCad Thanks! You can also tweet bitcoins to any one with a Twitter account: #btctip @jonmatonis 1 bitcoin @mrtruli

Hm, the android app is not compatible with my phone (this is true for all of the "light" android apps I've checked).
