10601  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: March 20, 2021, 03:21:17 AM
All 2017 numbers fully dropped out. every high is 2020 or 2021.

lost the shuffle

We have been bouncing between 50k ish and 60k ish for more than a month now.
Zoom out to 30 days and check for yourself.

Sorry. I don't consider bouncing up and down between $43k and $58k as being "$60k".

I see it as the battle for $50k. When we hit $60k a week ago, I figured $50k was finally a done deal.

Thoroughly agree with that. Once we hit 70K we will probably "bounce" between 60 and 70 for a bit etc.

Not good at designing but I tried to represent the bouncing situation here

https://i.imgur.com/yw58N5T.mp4

But ever upwards even after the three falls down.😊
10604  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: March 19, 2021, 10:20:55 PM
we drifted down just a bit to +1.74%
At the same time Eth network went up to an all time high of

451,434gh or  4,514,349 NVIDIA 3080 GPUs

So my theory that bitmain is building an unknown eth asic miner to mine eth to be converted to btc still works well.

a 3300 watt 2gh eth miner makes 223 usd a day
a 3330 watt 110th s19pro makes  42 usd a day

Load your Huge cloud  operations with both s19pros and eth5pros
Have 2x the gear than power available.
Turn the better gear on that makes more money per watt.
right now it is eth convert the eth to btc.

this raises btc price
this lower btc diff

this lowers eth price
this raises eth diff

that is exactly what is happening from what we can see.

Since bitmain
A) builds both eth and btc asics
B) has huge cloud ops with both eth and btc contracts.
C) can build gear really cheap
D) has no incentive to sell a lot of gear
E) is in a spot that mining is better than selling
F) btc diff is hardly moving upwards
G) btc price has really good support
H) eth diff is moving up like mad
I) eth price is kind of surpressed

It does look like a really good theory

Time will tell.

they should be okay for riser feeds.

Always check polarity on them.

...

Surely, something does not seem quite right about your numbers phillip, and surely we are seeing something like a 2x in that performance.

Of course, if you had lump summed into your paypal purchases of bitcoin coupons, your value would have gone up 4x to 5x from a kind of $12k-ish to something approaching $60k.. so the fact that you have something that is much closer to 2x seems to support that your purchases are a bit skewed in very recent times rather than earlier times of your getting involved with reporting your paypal purchases..

My suspicion is that your profits from mining, as measured in dollars, had gone up more in the second half of the measuring period rather than in the first half and so therefore, your injection of value into your paypal account to buy bitcoin coupons actually was skewed towards the later half rather than the first half of the measuring period.

Well One account  did more profit than 3x  the middle one. Moved up 125 to 444 my personal account. 3.55 to 1

My wife's account did not start until December as it was not made eligible until mid December.. so it went up 1.81 to 1 or 467 to 257

The business account had late money added and only went up 1.86 to one. or 1364 to 740

I only feed back money that comes in to the accounts so it can be slow to happen.
10607  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Caught in ASIC Chip Maker Bind. Poaching TSMC Tawain. Poll! on: March 19, 2021, 05:11:01 PM
Well the reality is 3300 watts of power buys you

42 usd worth of btc a day if you mine with a s19pro

and it buys you 200 usd worth of btc a day if you mine with an eth asic at nicehash and convert to btc.

Sooo the last eth miner built buy bitmain was a 28nm

getting an engineer to build a 10nm eth miner sounds like Bitmain's plan.

the eth network is growing by leaps and bounds. since a 10nm eth miner is better than nothing.

So My guess is Bitmain wants a piece of this.

10609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: molex to power the risers. on: March 19, 2021, 03:11:43 PM
the reality is for 3060ti and 3070 they should be safe if you set power to 130 watts on a linux os.
and on a windows 10 they are not as safe no matter how you set you clocks since on windows clocks drop out.

Hi philipma1957,

I have 30x3070 and all of them are bellow 130w on windows 10. At least thats what miner (TREX) is showing.

And they may never go off settings and max to 190-210 or they may do it tomorrow.

I can go weeks without the issue or it can happen tonight.

Every generation of nvidia or amd since I first used an old amd in my 2010 mac pro to run gou mining for bitcoin in 2012 has had dropping of settings and gone to full power.

the amd 5770 the amd 6790 the  7950 the r 280 the 470 the 570 the vega the 5700

not my lone 6800xt as it has been always on smos.

my gtx 970 1070 2070 3070 3080 all have dropped out and gone to max tdp.

I have used maybe 450 different gpus.since 2012.

and if you miss it and let it run a long time at full speed and full power it melts riser cables
10610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: molex to power the risers. on: March 19, 2021, 02:08:46 PM
Here goes nothing. All answers are ignoring a really important piece of information.

what is your os?

windows often allows settings for gpu to drop.

Thus the card draws max.

I have 2 pcs that have a card that run windows 10 and use msi afterburner.

Both of these cards go run away and pull 190 to 215 watts.

So if you run windows with risers powered by sata and or molex they can burn 🔥 melt the cables.

If you run linux I run smos run away wattage almost never happens.

that means using two risers on your molex cables and 1 riser on your sata cables should be safe.

That psu has two molex cables and 2 sata cables so in theory you could attach up to six risers safely if you use smos or hiveos a linux os.

next problem is what are your cards.

I have a stud 3060ti it is the aorus and can pull 215 watts.
It has two eight pin jacks.

I have two evga 3060 ti they can only pull 190 watts.

I have three 3070

one pulls 195 watts
one pulls 200 watts
one puls 210 watts

note all cards above are when runaway wattage happens.

all cards above did this on windows 10
along with my evga 3080 cards

none have done run away on my smos setups.

makes it hard for me to tell you
a single sata cable is safe for one riser
a  molex cable is safe for for two risers.

the reality is for 3060ti and 3070 they should be safe if you set power to 130 watts on a linux os.
and on a windows 10 they are not as safe no matter how you set you clocks since on windows clocks drop out.

10611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC becomes Sluggish while Mining, how to solve it? on: March 19, 2021, 01:04:27 PM
Easiest way to fix this is to just use your onboard video card. Look in your computer case and you will see a DVI or HDMI connector that is located on the motherboard, not on the GPU. Plug your monitor in there.

If you start your computer and got a blank screen, you need to enable it in bios first. So plug back into GPU the monitor, go into bios and enable onboard video. Then you should get a display.

Now you can mine at the same time without slowing down your computer or mining speed. Only issue you might encounter is the GPU might not work unless a monitor is plugged in. If that is the case then you need a HDMI dummy plug.

A Laptop does not always have a cpu with a gpu.

he may only have the 6700xt gpu
10612  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s9k control board on: March 19, 2021, 12:30:46 PM
I have found that of my 4 s9k's 2 of them run with 2 boards and 2 run with 3 boards.

So I suspect that the boards are the issue not the controllers.

Since I have 10 of 12 boards working I just let them mine on.

update. So far 1112 in is now 2276 not bad.

I was reviewing my PayPal btc purchases and paper profits.

wife's account >>>>>>   $257.56  is now $467.25
my personal account >>  $125.00 is now  $444.55
my business account >>  $730.02 is now  $1364.55

totals >>>>>>>>>>> $1112.58 is now  $2276.35

The plan was to never cash these just add to them now and then.
So far no coins are cashed out.
I know no keys not your coins.
I have other wallets with keys.
This was simply a mainstream investment. Starting in Oct of 2020 and  using various deposit amounts at various times.
Not bad for simply supporting a mainstream BTC investment.

first buy was below

So here goes.

I’ve been fiddling with the settings and have got 63. I’m using SMOS and it took me a while to realize that any memory clock setting above 1075 gets reverted back to 1000.

I’m not quite done tweaking but here is what I have so far:

Core: 1600
Mem: 1060
Core Undervolt: 700
MVDD: 1300
MVDDCI: 900

This gives me 63 MH/s at 127 watts.

Works 63.23 nice.

Anyone have any Eth mining setting for their RX 6800 XT they can share?  I can't seem to get over 59 MH/s.

pretty much what we all get.

my smos settings get me 59.4mh

1250 core
1900 ram
 800 microvolts. I did try 700 ,725, 750 ,775,800.

The board should work with smos. All the riser free mobos from china really suck with windows.

the six pin are designed to clean up wiring.

1in 1out
2in 2out
3in 3out
4in 4out
5in 5out
6in 6out.

the in comes from your psu the out goes to gpu.

these are server based

not atx based.

I have a few

running with smos.

windows will drive you nuts 🥜
