Answer  : We do not allow TOR, sorry.

Install on new PC find the wallet.dat and replace it with your old one.

Here is a good step by step guide: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/10974/import-wallet-dat-into-a-new-bitcoin-qt-client

the -rescan part is outdated afaik
10683  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Backing up to USB on: February 24, 2014, 05:26:51 PM
Yes this .dat is all you need. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wallet

Yes, if your PC is lost/stolen/etc. and the "new owner" knows what to look for there is a chance the file might be recovered.

If you want to be sure, overwrite the harddrive after you exported and copied your wallet.

Edit: if you dont want to erase your whole harddrive, there is a tool called "Eraser" which can overwrite certain files to make sure they can not be recovered.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/eraser/

well, i still believe they will be back and btc price will skyrocket..

I dont think they will regain trust. There are plenty other exchanges that can replace the hole left by MtGox.
10686  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can we see a full balance of a wallet? on: February 12, 2014, 07:24:35 PM
Ok now i am really confused. Cause the first person said it is not possible and then you guys said it is possible.
I understand the mentality behind the wallets and public addresses. So let me clarify my question.

Can you see the full balance of a public address? if so how?
I have 2 public addresses in my wallet and the total of the "Final balances" shown in blockchain upon a search for a publich address doesnt match to the total I have in my wallet.

https://blockchain.info/de/address/1dice8EMZmqKvrGE4Qc9bUFf9PX3xaYDp

This adress has approx. 0.21514636 BTC, but that does not mean the person behind it only owns that amount. They could have different adresses.

Only if you use at least 2 adresses for a payment they are linkable.

E.g. these 5 belong to the same person.
https://blockchain.info/de/tx/e480f6a4307753be69c7b2caacf0c545a6489d640bdc425f25f9d51ce3e949e6

Edit:

How? Why?
Is there like a fee just to see a balance of a wallet or a public address?

Xinzark probably though you want to spend all of your BTC.

and how will they even do that.
bitcoin is unblock able until you turn your power stations off, and maybe not even then

Its just another kind of data transered over the internet. Of course it can be blocked. The great firewall is very capable of Blocking stuff.

The great firewall isn't very capable at all.  Anything blocked in China is easily accessible through a vpn, nothing more.

Most known VPNs are blocked, they even take messures to block TOR and probably I2P.
My arguement is not that BTC is currently blocked, but that its possible to block a protocol like BTC if you have the infastructure for it. The great firewall is a good example.

As FeedbackLoop allready pointed out, China is probably not going to the full potential.

Kein Anarchist wählt die FDP, vielleicht sollte man dann das entsprechende Wort auch nicht nutzen.

Liberal und Libertär sind einfach zwei sehr unterschiedliche Dinge.

however they wish, i will never in my life use crypsty again. f ur eula, f u. f u all! LOL  I UNDERSTAND ALL YOUR TELLING ME NO SHIT! HOWEVER ALL THAT SHIT WOULD BE COMPLETE UNNESSAASRY If crypsty helped keep shit secure. AND for all you cryptsy lovers. go google crypsty, show me one fucking link that has a good thing to say about that cursed wreck of a web site. you mother fuckers act like i pasted my password on the front of my house.
east shit and die

I dont use their service, but all I read from you is

- you use IE (bad idea)
- you swear at them (bad idea if you want something)
- YOU got your gmail account hacked (bad password? maleware? anyway its a problem on your end)

"#1 a lack of concern, #2 a lack of responsibility, #3 a lack of common sense!"

fits you like a glove.

I understand that you are angry but you can only blame yourself.

- GeoIP services are unreliable. Your "solution" would probably make it impossible for people who use tor to use crypsty.
- the length of your password is not the problem as google wasnt hacked (afaik) and they have meassures to make brute force impossible. Again most likely your PC is infected and the password was stolen that way or you had an password that was easy to guess.
10696  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: $4,000 to invest in GPU miner. What do? on: January 28, 2014, 04:47:10 PM
Buy and hold is not going to make you money

Long-term, you are wrong. Imagine the guy that brought @ 266 in April, must have been kicking himself so he sold for a loss. Should have just held it. Buy it, and put it in cold storage. Don't even bother looking at the charts everyday or you'll go nuts. I'm am not saying to completely disconnect oneself from the bitcoin community, but rather to stay informed and never risk more you are willing to lose.

Just my two satoshis.   Smiley

Id have to do the calculation for exact numbers. But if you followed a decent trading strategy youd have a greater profit compared to someone just buying and holding.
And looking at the chart every morning is not stressfull. You dont have to trade hourly candels, you can trade daily or even larger candels or somewhere in between. That way you will follow the size trends that fits your life the most and still make profit. E.g. currently the trend for my indicator goes down. Selling point was the 15th and the downward trend is going on ever since (~840 downto 751). Thats for daily candels and not very stressfull. I usually have a signal every few weeks, depending on the length of the trend.

10698  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: $4,000 to invest in GPU miner. What do? on: January 28, 2014, 12:55:47 AM
I’d strongly advise everyone reading this to treat mining as a hobby, and not a “get rich quick” scheme

I'm not looking to "get rich quick", I'm looking to have some fun and make some money. Basically, money is my hobby because I play professional poker. I'm just looking to leave my machine running

Read into technical Analysis and invest into bitcoins. Buy and hold is not going to make you money, but with the right strategy when to buy BTC and when to sell you can get some profits. And with your job you should be able to handle the stress Wink
