10701  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto personal analysis on: April 22, 2020, 07:15:15 AM
Hello buwaytress,
Thank you for your participation here.
Yes, good point.
And the thing about the altcoins is I prefer to watch the fundamental new as well. Since you only trade on one market, BTC/USDT for example, You can always check the news from reliable resources while none can check every single news from altcoins, at last I can't. I prefer to play on a field I know.

That's almost kind of what I was saying really, that you can at least have a good sense now that TA works or at least has workable data from markets to produce some logical charting, but you almost can't say the same for alts outside the big 3 or 4, simply because they don't have good data to make good TA -- so you really only can rely on fundamental news, which you feel at least hopefully sways the prices. Good luck again;)
10702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: we would have been nothing without Bitcoin and Bitcoin forum on: April 22, 2020, 05:49:00 AM
Love this forum to bits, and my life has definitely been all the better for it, but I certainly would hope my life would be better on my own efforts, with or without this forum and all the other things that have given me knowledge, gainful employment etc.

I think the value in this forum really is that you can find, quite easily, dissenting opinion. That's more valuable than other places in other projects where dissenters are only investors. Here, you also meet actual users giving up or rebelling. Right or wrong, that's how it's meant to be.

But here's to being something. On our own. With and without Bitcoin.
10703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 21, 2020, 08:02:57 PM
Unlike what was said yesterday in the meeting that they did this morning all twenty clubs decided unanimity for a yes to the restart of the championship.

They have yet to decide how, where and when but the intention is to play the remaining games.

Yup. Solidarity here just from a day ago. Wonder how concessions were made. Brescia even wanted to forfeit before rather than play.

The quote from the statement: "The Serie A general assembly met this morning and confirmed, with a unanimous vote of all 20 clubs connected by video conference, the intention to complete the 2019-2020 football season, if the government allows it to take place," said the statement... in compliance with medical protocols for the protection of players and all professionals."

So May 4th training resumes with social distancing, wonder if they'll also go like English FA suggesting one stretch of 30 days to finish 9/10 league games, and allow up to 5 substitutes. All kinds of suggestions, and to be fair, I like some of them.
10704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not suitable as a currency, it's a store of value on: April 21, 2020, 02:29:07 PM
I keep hearing people tell me this, usually when they're trying to shill their own non-usable, no-community, no-merchant-work, no-use-case altcoin.

I use Bitcoin at least once a week as currency. I'd use a lot more if I earned a lot more. Covid. Lockdown. Paycut. You get the picture.

Yes, I agree it's a store of value as well, but it's uniquely used to pay for shit all over the world every day. Arnhem the Bitcoin city gets daily transactions for years (now in lightning too!) because there is a merchant network there. OK, lockdown now so a trickle only but still!
10705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First seastead is now in international waters. Only currencies accepted..฿ & BTC on: April 21, 2020, 01:05:49 PM
Hello Elwar! Glad to see you're up and about again, and drone delivery! I saw some pretty nifty videos recently (pizza, and contactless mobile pay). Wish we could do something like that in some parts of my hometown and home capital where congestion is a nightmare. I think if we took delivery off the roads, we'd see a lot cleaner stuff.

PM-ing you, hope you respond!

10706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 21, 2020, 11:10:49 AM
It's probably easier for foreigners to buy clubs than it is for a UK resident because it will be much harder to check where all the money came from. Some countries are worse than others for either money laundering or accounting for where all the money came from. If you're a Russian or Saudi you probably just say oil and they check your books and that's good enough Cheesy. The oil rich Arab nations are trying to branch out though because they know their wealth isn't going to last forever when the oil runs out so that's probably why they're buying football clubs. That's why places like Dubai are spending shit loads to try change their perception in the West and boost their tourism now so it becomes a popular spot as that's where their money will come from in the future.

I've stopped fooling myself a long time ago when it comes to financial due diligence. Too many legal shortcomings and loopholes, big money wants in (world's biggest and most valuable company, even with $10 per barrel oil), lawyers do what needs to be done. Like you said, it just needs to say oil.

@examplens can't speak about Russia but I think the oil-producing gulf nations do want this for recognition and reputation-building, but it's definitely more about their future and reducing its reliance on oil.

And it's a simple model, already shown by the Scandinavians and West Europe. Invest the oil, diversify in overseas investments with your sovereign wealth fund, and do well. Problem is the Gulf nations are still embroiled in conflict abroad. They're doing all sorts of things now, want to be blockchain hubs, humanitarian hubs... you'd be surprised how much Gulf money props up UN organisations these days.

Strange they haven't really got into bed in a big way with crypto yet.

10707  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Any benefits to setting up Anonymous LLC? on: April 21, 2020, 09:04:24 AM
If someone's interested, I think the closest thing would be na LLC with bearer shares, but the issuance and use of them have been banned or heavily restricted in many countries over the years. An expert should be consulted to assess whether having bearer shares is worth the trouble.

Yes, AFAIK this is still legal even in some countries in Europe (it was in fact discontinued this year in one of the biggest tax havens Netherlands) BUT under new AMLD5 laws are heavily frowned upon and will likely anyway get you in trouble down the line. Basically, the latest edition of the AML directive means that anything that is against the spirit of the law -- even if it's not against the letter of the law --  will be deemed equally wrong. So, while tax avoidance is strictly speaking not illegal, it can result in public exposure, which, is about as damaging as actual tax evasion, just without the fines -- though a dozen EU states have recently rejected that.

The only country left that issues the type of anonymous bearer shares OP is looking for is Marshall Islands. Now you know why they're blacklisted by OECD, and so it's also pointless for you to go down this road, as you're painting a bull's eye on your back if you register in MI.

There's also Panama, but you have to pay a hefty bank fee for holding them (so pointless anyway).
10708  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Spam me with decentralized exchanges on: April 21, 2020, 07:55:17 AM
I'll put in my recommendation for Bisq as well, yes, the hack happened but it's still by far the "most decentralised" you can get, and at least the devs are responsive there.

But if you're looking for more of an orderbook type of DEX that's been around for some years in development, I'd look up Waves DEX too, though volume's been dropping over the months, it's still fairly decent in that it's also a gateway wallet for Bitcoin and others.

Right. I am so back at it. Awesome promotions, Steve. You guys know how to rock the party, or certainly get one started;)

So, trying to get into the prediction game, already Opted In here. But I get Error message: Game currently unavailable. Something went wrong, please reload the page. **A string of random characters**

Reloading doesn't work. Will try again later. How does NFL draft work?

My MultiMaster is in though. Super exciting. Do I know what I'm doing? Of course... not;)

Investor since 2017 as well, but since doge and ltc were the ones doing really well, I didn't top up my btc. I avoided a huge loss when I withdrew from MP just before they had their weird bout of variance but yeah, wiped out also by Easter weekend haha. Like I said though, ended up winning it all back and then gained 2 levels, but nice to see profits returning. That's what you get for max leverage =p Now let's see if that luck rubs off on me in real-life lottery =D
hehe hopefully can happen and luck is on your side, there are no settings in the game or interference from someone who is on the BITVEST platform

Nope, didn't work haha. Though I have to say I'm actually IN profit after just over a year of playing lottery (you get prizes for even 2 numbers correct and since). I'd rather just not have all those smaller prizes if it helped my absurd chances of winning the JP though!

And no, don't get me wrong. Happy with BV after all this time.
10711  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: My new trading bot is up&running and i came up with an interesting question on: April 20, 2020, 02:42:07 PM
I always assumed people used 1 bot and then tested out multiple scripts -- the only reason you'd use more than 1 bot was to see which bot was capable of the most options, which executed strategies the best, which connected to trading platforms best.

Not a veteran bot user, but when I tried in the past, each was perfectly capable of running many strategies concurrently, each keeping its own records, easy to compare side by side in the same bot. And this was years ago. Pretty sure things have advanced by now.
10712  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I am building a Wikipedia for Bitcointalk Heroes on: April 20, 2020, 12:46:38 PM
Is it sad irony or plain coincidence that OP seems to be plagiarising the efforts of a recently passed bitcointalk legend? I refer to the "final exit scam" phrasing, just weeks after our very own Phinneaus Gage posted this.

@OP apply for editorial rights to the existing wiki. It's where the heroes you talk about deserve to live.
10713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: April 20, 2020, 10:05:44 AM
Football clubs are rarely big money spinners for people, unless you can get one of the big cups that actually make a shit load of money Man United etc. For most owners it's just another thing to put on their business CV and stroke their own egos. Would be pretty cool to actually own a football club though. Would be a great chat up line as well. Hey girl, you heard of Chelsea football club? Well, I own them  Grin

Yeah, which is why I wonder if Newcastle could be another Arsenal or Ajax copy, make money, no need to necessarily win trophies except the occasional small cup;) Though oil princes who're also busy funding wars right now probably just want a legitimate channel for funneling money heh.

I used to play football with this guy a lot, and he used a "Hey girl, I play football for ABC club reserves" and then has "pics" to prove it. Sadly, it worked a lot cause he's just name some English sounding club that he knows the girl won't know.

I wonder if being a woman owner works as well?

10714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just think privacy is more important with financials. on: April 20, 2020, 09:02:13 AM
Privacy is highly important, but unfortunately it is becoming less possible in the modern world.

Actually, it is becoming more possible, but it would have to depend on you making very deliberate decisions to keep them. For the regular person living in a developing economy, I'd agree, it's impossible almost be private if you have to interact with the state for taxes and income, for births, deaths, marriages. I believe this is easier in some developed countries who recognise your right to privacy but on the other hand, have increased surveillance.

Whatever our situation, there is technology that helps us become more private. We should start using them.
10715  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Main Club Partner of Watford FC ⚽ Fun. 🏀 Fast. 🎾 Fair. 🏆 on: April 20, 2020, 07:39:47 AM
Is there any way or solution for how can I temporarily hide or disabled the Max Bet button for every I bet I do?
It's kinda not safe for me since I tried before, I misclicked the max bet button and I almost place a bet with max bet, thanks the odds changed and I noticed it before confirming my bet
I think it's a good idea there is some settings in profile to like enable/disable the max bet button? Just my 2 cents.

Pretty sure a lot more people would want the Max Bet button there in plain sight. Whether casino or sports, it's just the easiest way to put in all your available balance (or in case of sports, put the max possible bet by the bookie -- not the same as max balance).

But you're right, perhaps a warning window like in some games, where if you bet your entire balance, a warning shows up asking you to confirm. Doesn't that already happen though?

A good idea, nevertheless, to simply not have that button there at all.
10716  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Cost to perform a 51% attack on the BTC blockchain? on: April 20, 2020, 06:18:01 AM
So we're all talking about the cost to perform the attack, and some speculate it might even be worth it. But the real cost isn't in the financial resources you've got to put together to pull off such a thing, but what happens AFTER that when the attack is discovered and all the other actors reorganise.

Antonoupoulos explains it best as usual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncPyMUfNyVM
10717  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-13] Coin Mixer’s Record Month Proves Bitcoin Users Want Anonymity on: April 20, 2020, 05:14:06 AM
I was asking why or how can we assume that regular people who use bitcoin only as a speculative investment, or use it legally, mix their coins? This would put taint on their coins and also put their accounts on exchanges at risk.

I replied way up there with an example of how regular people back then probably wished they had a way to anonymize their wallets back then, or at least give them a better degree of privacy.

Again, you assume if I mix my coins, I taint them. Assumption again is mixing is going to get your coins dirty. Roger Ver, among others, got his bitcoins from an auction of seized bitcoins. Those were definitely tainted. He's doing ok.

Exchanges, banks. You put your money with them and you're definitely tainting them. Banks = provably most frequent financial offenders.
10718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in High School Syllabus on: April 19, 2020, 06:59:40 PM
Couldn't find any updates on this news, but probably need to search in French for this.

That same period was just post all the yellow jacket protests too, and tabacs going bitcoin. A lot of visibility in the land that loves liberty, so no surprise.

A year before that, they used Bitcoin in a national Dutch secondary school exam. Not just a mere mention of it too! They introduced Bitcoin's block generation, how many coins minted from that, and halving, and asked students to calculate new supply in a certain period.
10719  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: April 19, 2020, 03:14:58 PM
@toke
A month ago FJ posted a link to an article on Yahoo Finance where the FJ CEO stated that there was an increase in new users. I think it's safe to say that, with the lack sporting events and the 'stay-at-home' orders enforced in almost every corner of the planet, dice and casino games have indeed seen an influx of new users...But maybe FJ can confirm it in another post (:

I think it's got to be the case everywhere that's doing something to promote online activity, especially in Sportsbooks. Saw a couple more other articles talking about all the sports bookies. And when you think about the NEW sports and games (marbles? damn) now entering into sportsbooks, you know we're getting new communities in here.

Industry's probably hurting now but once everything resumes, they'll have a bigger userbase. Might turn out to be a good thing!
10720  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-13] Coin Mixer’s Record Month Proves Bitcoin Users Want Anonymity on: April 19, 2020, 01:58:39 PM
Agreed. For this reason, did criminals find a new method to trick Chainanalysis and make it appear that they are regular people randomly mixing their coins?

Why would regular people who use bitcoin as a speculative investment want to mix their coins?

Actually, I don't think many criminals who first used Bitcoin really understood its architecture the way the devs or enthusiasts did (to me, it explains why so many like SR and AB and other P2P sellers in US got caught so easily). But certainly, pre-existing laundering methods would have been applied - under/over-invoicing, obfuscating physical beneficiaries, etc. and then they probably topped up the act with Bitcoin.

Why would regular people want privacy? Seriously? Google it, friend. Or ask Vitalik Buterin or I dunno, others, how much spam he gets every day asking for crypto cause people knew his wallet address and how much he holds.

Also, a Chainalysis whistleblower basically admitted that forensics software like theirs may not be as sophisticated as we're led to believe: https://news.bitcoin.com/chainalysis-whistleblower-shares-company-secrets-in-explosive-ama/
