10721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: February 16, 2017, 06:53:26 AM

;P payblk is using 0.12.1 client(https://payblk.blackcoin.io) for example.  It is unsustainable to use 0.13 client, currently around  44 C++ developers alone have participated,
who created 1683 commits, done with POW in mind, impossible to review all their impact on POS.

... I looked at the article about why qtum went to 0.13 base and it doesn't make any sense whatsoever,
http://www.bikaifa.com/qtum-blockchain-ported-pos-3-0-to-bitcoin-core-0-13

valid headers blockchain is in 0.12 too,
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/0.12/src/rpcblockchain.cpp#L736

1. invalid               This branch contains at least one invalid block
2. headers-only      Not all blocks for this branch are available, but the headers are valid
3. valid-headers     All blocks are available for this branch, but they were never fully validated
4. valid-fork           This branch is not part of the active chain, but is fully validated
5 active                 This is the tip of the active main chain, which is certainly valid

It cannot be used for synchronizing, you can easily end on a fork.
Bitcoin had a scripting language similiar to eth in his early days too, which was exploited and was removed
and Qtum is bringing it back? Oh my..DAO

Forking code is not enough, Bitcoin is full of magic numbers, you have to fork community and all the networks characteristics to have it work properly
and there is no need for that
https://nm.reddit.com/r/blackcoin/comments/5m7af3/what_is_going_on_in_blk/dc42wgu/

What is going on in BLK

Thanks for the reply.  I'm not really a technical person but what I got from your post is Qtum might not be all that good lol.  That's making me having second thoughts in investing on the  ICO.  I still might but for a whole nother reason and for a smaller amount for sure.  I still think it's a good gamble to make some BTC's.

Is there any updates with this coin?

Black halo looked so promsing, but have not heard much since.

Back in the day, yeah.  All the next generation ICO's changed the landscape.  They're getting all the limelight and the money.

Anyway, dzimbeck, I'm dropping by here to ask what is different about Blackcoin's POS compared NXT's POS.  I'm thinking of investing in Qtum's ICO (I know, I know, I'll be careful), and I see in their ANN thread that they will be using code based on Bitcoin Core 0.13 and use that to create a POS platform based on Blackcoin's POS 3.0.  Is that even possible?  And what's the big deal with BC's POS 3.0?

Thanks.

Hi so the big difference is removing of all coinage and making the stake reward constant instead of based on coinage. This forces people to stay connected. Also there was several security fixes. I wrote a short paper on it but never published it.

Lastly, POS 3 allows for custom staking by putting the data in 6a. So it allows multisignature staking which is used for Halos coldstake. Also this makes it easy to add voting which will be in my next update.

Blackcoin is one of the most forked coins. However the people who do it will still have to code something useful out of it and most projects never move beyond the ANN

Ok, thanks.  If you don't mind me asking...  What do you of Qtum https://qtum.org/?

They have some 'big' names behind it but I was wondering what you think of what it will be technically.  Anything good?
10722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Yahoo Finance Article - BitBay, The Worlds Most Advanced Cryptocurrency Software on: February 16, 2017, 06:43:09 AM
Seriously?  Dzimbeck is still pushing on and developing the platform?  I feel for that guy, he got involved with the wrong people the way things turned out.  If I was in his shoes I would have given up on Bitbay and started something new.

Maybe all Bitbay needs is a rebranding.  Who knows, it might work.
10723  Economy / Speculation / Re: Economist predicts Bitcoin $25,000 on: February 16, 2017, 06:31:13 AM
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-bitcoin-will-surge-to-25000-142402299.html

Economist predicts Bitcoin $25,000!

Part of the commentary compares it to a bubble, but one that hasn't even started it's run yet.

The best part - read the comments - a lot of ill-informed people commenting. People thinking that China can shut it down, haha.

From what rabbit hat did he get and come up with that number?  If it really does reach 25k USD, then Bitcoin will be the biggest, largest, hugest bubble in the history of trading in the world.  It's just so hard for me to fathom that the whole thing will be that big to support a 25k USD price per coin.  BTC will have to eat up a large part of the fiat market share for that to happen.  That or the darknet has to grow HUGE.  Which I don't think will happen.
10724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Soccer Transfer Market 2016/2017 ! on: February 16, 2017, 06:23:53 AM
I cant wait to see what changes arsenal will make in the summer, im almost certain that wenger will leave and i think Sanchez and Ozil will follow, hopefully they stay in the EPL tho, im hearing talk of them both coming to chelsea

Don't be too sure.  The old bugger thinks he can still win the EPL and might go at it for one more year.  But I hope he does leave and gets replaced by a potentially, league winning manager.  So far the top three managers who could replace him are Allegri (Juventus), Tuchel (Dortmund), Eddie Howe (Bournemouth).  I want either Allegri or Tuchel.  Howe is ok, but for Arsenal no.

Alright so yesterday was underdogs' day and today I guess by the laws of the universe it is going to be favorites' night  Grin I won back what I had lost on the CL fails last night on NHL and even turned in a slight profit so I am good to go today.

Some early picks I am taking are

Real Madrid -1 @ 1.95    +1.95
Draw/Bayern Munich  @ 4.3      +4.3
Draw/Real @ 4.7     +4.7
Bayern - Arsenal HT 0-0 @ 3.4  -1
Real - Napoli HT 0-0 @ 3.5  -1
Bayern and both teams to score/Yes @ 2.96  +2.96
Bayern wins by 1 goal @ 3.4  -1
Real wins by 1 goal @ 3.35  -1

Another ridiculous parlay Real/Draw & Bayern/Draw @ 350   -0.5

Small stakes for good fun. Good luck everyone and enjoy the games.

Let's tally up the results today and see what we have here after a very exciting night again the Champions league. 9 bets in total - 8 single bets and 1 parlay. 13.91 units - 4.5 units = 9.41 units

Haha I have enough beer money to last me the rest of the month  Grin  Europa League is coming tomorrow so stay tuned.

I like the Real Madrid bet -1 @ 1.95.  Though I'm wondering what sports betting site you use.  I saw that there was the same bet offered at 1.99 at Nitrogen Sports.  Sometimes it's good to shop for lines every now and then.  Just a suggestion.  Anyway, congrats on your newly acquired beer money.  Wink

10727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 15, 2017, 05:32:24 AM
If Manchester City win today they will take 2nd place back from Tottenham and will be 8 points behind Chelsea. Bournemouth haven't won in 5 matches and I expect them to park the bus vs City today and try to earn 1 point at  least. I think it will be a tight game with under 2.5 goals and City should win. I like City -1 for the better odds.

If you think the match is gonna be under 2.5 goals the it wouldn't be advisable to sell a goal imho.  It would be better to avoid betting on the match altogether because there's no value.

Why would there be no value for under 2.5 goals and City -1? Mind you that both Arsenal and United finished 2-0 and I used the same approach. You could even add Liverpool to the group as well but I didn't have a bet on that game though. Anything is possible mate  Wink

We're dealing with probabilities mate, not the exact result.  But do what you want, it's your money.  I'm just trying to help.

Peace.

Yesterday was quite a nice payday mate. I am kinda bummed I didn't put a correct score on City 0-2 oh well  Grin All the big favorites matches this past round have been Under 2.5 goals  Wink

Congrats mate.  Although, yup, the better bet would be to put the correct score.  Higher odds for what you were thinking.  Betting under 2.5 and betting on a team winning -1 is too risky.  The exact outcome you want is a  0 - 2 scoreline.  Why not risk less for better odds by betting on the correct score of 0 - 2?
10728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: February 15, 2017, 05:29:57 AM
I must say im excited after few months we have finally come to this. Champions and Europe leagues knockout starts.

Benfica - Dortmund

this match is totally unpredictable, advantage is formally for Benfica but on this game i expect low chances for goals and expect to see under 2.5 goals

PSG - Barcelona

this match is becoming usual for knockout stage in past several years, games they play are with goals so here we could easily say to bet on goals. This years PSG is little weaker then last one so i will definitely go here for over 2.5 goals and both team to score. Double bet seem good for this match

Good bets and nice analysis.  The over and unders are spot on seeing the results after the fixtures.  I didn't make any bets due to the unpredictable nature of the CL.  The outcome of PSG vs Barca is a good example of the CL's unpredictability.  Who would have known a 4 - 0 PSG win will happen.

The kinda half expected Dortmund to lose however as they have been lousy away.  But still didn't make the bet.
10729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: February 14, 2017, 05:41:27 AM
Why?  Man United has the strongest squad in the competition.  The sports books didn't come up with these numbers by pulling them out of their asses, you know.  There's a thorough process on how to price these things in.

Manchester United might have a strong squad but they dont play like champions or anything close to it. They are having currently a good run but they are far away from what ppl expect from Manchester United who are currently at 6th place in the EPL. They will have a challenging outing against St. Etienne in the next round and might come out with the win there but, every match after that will be really hard for them. I dont expect them to win Europa league like the odds suggest. Villareal and athletic club seems to have mastered Europa league and i think they will probably win it this time too.

Two months later...  You were saying?  Do you still think they're not playing like champions?  I think, in paper, they have the right players that could beat Chelsea in the EPL, if they play like they are right now that is.

Anyway, the equation has changed in the Europa League now that Tottenham is added in the mix.  That's another tough team to be against besides Roma and Villareal plus some others that could get feisty like Schalke.
10730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 14, 2017, 05:21:27 AM
Bournemouth will face Manchester City , i think that Manchester City will be the winner in this game , if they win they will be in the second place in classements ! i will bet for Manchester City to win . and also i will bet for Gabriel Jesus to score in this game.
Yes, right choice, The Manchester United is in excellent form, and they must win this game. And Bournemouth also very tight competitor for Man United, they can manage to win this game. Yes if they win means it's a big advantage for Man United and very tough competition we see in top 3 places in the list. I will pick Man United in this game. And under 2.5 goals.
Uhh. It's not Manchester United today . IT'S Manchester CITY that's playing! Roll Eyes

Nice try though. They will dominate this match anyways even if it were the reds! Grin

He's a spammer.  Report him to his manager.

I think Manchester City are now still in a negative trend, goalkeeper they still do not have a good performance so that the opponent can steal a goal at any time. I still doubt Manchester City will win against Bournemouth, especially the match later Bournemouth will be play at home. We'll see who will win in the match, Manchester City will be difficult to score in this match.

Wtf?  Are you making this up?  What negative trend?  City was never in a negative trend.  They were always in contention to be in the top 4.  And now you think a City win is doubtful vs a club like Bournemouth?  Rofl.  Clearly you're making stuff up now.

Leicester City will be the first team that won championship and get relegated in consecutive seasons. Cheesy
I don't think anybody can save them, they can't even score for a long time. And next week they'll play with Liverpool. Their morale must be all time lowest. What a failure after championship season. And what did they do with all the money coming from championship and Champions League qualification? Very bad management.
Its very unlikely that they will go down under the managememt of raneiri, they have a talented squad who are capable pf stringing a few wins together to save themselves

Oh, but they will...  Indeed they will.  Smiley
10731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 212: Aldo vs Holloway Info and Prediction Thread on: February 14, 2017, 05:18:53 AM
Bisping vs Romero in Rio?  I pretty much doubt that.  I don't think Bisping will want to be a side show in Brazil and not under an Aldo fight.  Maybe if it was a bigger draw in the main event (McGregor vs someone) and being fought in Vegas or NY, then yes.  Tho I think Bisping will be fighting in his home turf again or in England at least.

So what's new going on with BitDice?  Any promotions or giveaways everyone should know about?  Maybe even new games available at the site?  It would be nice if a rep or someone from BitDice itself dropped by in here from time to time to keep us updated.

I also still think they should test player vs player games just to see if there's potential.

Swansea City- Leicester City  , this match is playing now and 55 minutes passed and i think this match result will not finish like that and Leicester City can find goal and this match will finish over 3.5 goals i will bet this ,Good luck for everybody!
I have think like you too if leicester can made a goals but seems I was wrong and will lose my bet. I hope claudio ranieri will get sacked.

Lol!  Way to go hoping for the manager to get sacked because you lost your bet.  That's hilarious.  As I said a few days before the match Swansea has a better chance in winning this.  Have you guys noticed that Leicester has not scored a single goal for 2017?  Keep that in mind for your next bet.

Actually I made an advanced bet for Leicester vs Liverpool.  Liverpool to win -1 at 2.21.  Leicester will be tired by match day vs Liverpool after an FA Cup tie and a UCL game, both away.  Liverpool will have no fixtures and will have plenty of much needed rest.  If someone gets injured at Leicester expect the line to move to Liverpool's favor.  So get your bets in now while the line is still high.

I think Anderson won , a lot of people say he didnt. I gave him rd 1 and 3.

I watched the fight again.  You're right.  But still very close.  Leaning more towards a Silva win tho.  I guess I was expecting more from him, being a legend and all.  He's a bit slower now and I think his deterioration will come faster and faster as he approaches his mid 40's.  Maybe some future bets against him might be good.

It was def close.  At one point I really was thinking he lost, then the ref raised his arm.  Literally made me sigh in relief that one.  I'm gonna have to watch that fight again without any anxiety and with a clear mind later.
10740  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 12, 2017, 01:37:47 PM
Burnley is the third strongest team at home especially in the previous months after 6 wins in a row and 4 consecutive games without conceded goal while Chelsea is at the top of the and they will be looking to increase the fap between the 2nd team with 12 points so i think that this game will have Chelsea to win also i don't expect to see much action on this game so under 2.5 goals is also possible.

They're the fourth strongest at home actually.  But notice their losses at home were vs the top clubs like Arsenal and Man City.  And don't discount the fact that Chelsea is the strongest team away.  Burnely is fighting for a draw here.  Chelsea just has much better players at their disposal.
