10721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading by Italian Banks on: March 21, 2020, 06:27:59 PM
Regarding to the Italian Banks, Is it too late that they have just allow it in the critical time like this? I think they should've done this before so that it helped allot of people.

I don't know, I would say it's never too late. Bitcoin was born during the last economic crisis. One might even say it was a great necessity to finally push it out to the world. If the economy never crashed, if the banks never got bailed out, people would never have needed to find a use for Bitcoin.

Same as all the "bad things" that happened to Bitcoin in the past. Necessity drives invention. People learnt P2P when governments banned it. People learnt to use their own wallets when Mt Gox crashes. Never too late!
10722  Economy / Economics / Re: a disease or a virus or is there business in it? on: March 21, 2020, 04:45:02 PM
at this time many entrepreneurs are experiencing losses. but indeed not a few people who can use this condition to reap profits. we can see health equipment such as masks and hand sanitizers that most people hunt for, even basic needs are being bought in to anticipate the worst. many opinions about the antidote, but there is no valid and recognized by the world

That's sort of game theory at work.

If everyone just buys enough for themselves, everyone has enough and there is no shortage. But if just 1 person buys more than he needs, everyone else needs to also line up and buy or end up on the short end of the stick.

Trust me, when game theory starts to work on Bitcoin, it will be a whole new level of FOMO and then we who got in early will be really happy. Hopefully those of us who have more than we need decide to give it back to those who need it most.

Virtual sports boost looking good. Anyone know how this works exactly? It's just a random computation? And what's the house edge on this?

Tempting to try a few hands out but after busting on dice earlier, I'm probably going to wait until the end of March to re-up. I think this is also the time people will be really looking out for more P2P;)

Stay at home and stay safe (and clean too!).

He has no idea what he's talking about. These kinds of posts are only made because of their signature campaigns.

Very cool to see 11 contributors so far, hopefully more will join! https://stats.foldingathome.org/team/238906

I know right? I see some guy there with so many WUs (is that you OP?), must be an old home rig he's now putting to a hopefully good cause;)

I'm running into work unit issues right now, and I see I'm still bottom of the pile, but that's expected on an old computer that I only connect to F@H when I'm working. I actually thought this flu virus was more or less like normal flu but it's getting more apparent that it's a little more than that right now.

Cheers team BuyBitcoin;)
10725  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +28815 units on: March 21, 2020, 10:24:33 AM
Right, they did lead 2-1 at one point, so to lose 3-2 isn't so bad, right? It was a friendly even and the favourites were pressured into 3 yellow cards before winning in the 88th minute. Could have gone either way to be honest, but that's just looking at stats haha.

I'm not learning my lesson, and with some good roulette wins I have money to burn so:

100 units at Betcoin on Jonkopings Sodra IF to WIN vs BK Hacken @7.97. Other odds: 7.92

Odds advantage: 0.78%
Units advantage: 5

Running advantage after 294 bets: +6,843.82 (+5)
All-time cumulative: +28,842.93
Running units after 293 bets (49W|244L): +11,627.75 (-100 units)
10726  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Nights Discussion Thread (private games for btctalk members) on: March 21, 2020, 09:46:17 AM
I'll register in a while later guys, am not on my preferred device but please count me in anyway. IF for some reason I CANNOT join, then I will take the sidebet (but I'm not clear who are we betting on, just ourselves and if we outlast whomever we win?). My username there on SwC is "Sojourner".

Looking forward to playing with you @figment @SyGambler. Champion of the inaugural where I was first to bust IIR haha.

10727  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Price Halving succeed with Currently Situation on: March 21, 2020, 08:44:49 AM
Whales alert had shown that they are the market manipulators as it has  clearly tells they decide what happen to the general market, as at today and few days back, they have been moving funds from various destinations either to dump and take their profit, sometimes they mop the market for personal gains. They're the major problem the cryptocurrency  community has and if nothing is done they will continue manipulating the entire market. Hope the Bitcoin halving goes as well and as history to repeat itself. Few months ahead of the big event to surface, hope you have stash your coins for profit?.

I'm not sure what you mean here, it's never been clear. Always, just as the nature of the market itself, speculative. I mean, I've seen myself the evidence of whale movements, spoofing bots etc. but when I personally sell or buy, those things do not affect me, and I can't see the clear correlation at all, especially when whales buy and prices go down.

If they're really manipulating the market, why are people still getting into it? If you believe, like some states do, or regulators, why are you buying into Bitcoin?

I must be the only one here who doesn’t know how to play poker, what a fucking retard Grin
Maybe I can learn if we get a compulsory lock down in the UK.

Damn, I’m bored with no football Sad

Don't worry, I'll tell you all the tricks of the trade, including when Steve's bluffing (all the time), when cryptofrka's got a really good hand (which is never) and when to go all in (well ok, I can't tell you that) but yeah! The freerolls are awesome to learn. It's actually pretty straightforward in terms of how the cards stack up, but yeah, let's all try to make it for the Poker with Steve!

Can't wait to win everything from all you guys =p
10729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +28815 units on: March 20, 2020, 04:49:11 PM
OK this is super stupid but every time I see this kind of friendly around, where the two teams actually aren't that far apart but because they play away they get some silly odds, yeah, why not? Probably a fool's bet and I can't even find a stream of it but hey, we need some of that luck don't we?

100 units at Betcoin on Fanna BK to WIN vsSollentuna FF @8.10. Other odds: 7.88

Odds advantage: 2.79%
Units advantage: 22

Running advantage after 293 bets: +6,838.82 (+22) [1 bets cancelled]
All-time cumulative: +28,837.93
Running units after 292 bets (49W|243L): +11,727.75 (+000 units)
10730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian Central Bank Admits It Can’t Ban Bitcoin on: March 20, 2020, 01:25:37 PM
Ask different people what Bitcoin is, and they will give you different answers/explanations. The misunderstanding/lack of understanding/differences in understanding could be the cause the conflicting statements.

Yeah. I've seen pretty cool guys who got into Bitcoin way early, actually do a lot for it in terms of adoption, but who've changed their minds about how they understand Bitcoin.

There's this Danish guy the media called Bitcoin Jack for example, in 2015 lived off BTC for a month... and today he's 100% convinced that Bitcoin's decentralization isn't as foolproof as someone like Andreas Antonopoulos, for example, would believe. And then myself meeting people in 2018 who said it was all over despite having seen cycles before. I wonder how I'll feel about this 5 years down the line.
10731  Economy / Speculation / Re: we all were waiting for bitcoin halving, we got bitcoin price halving on: March 20, 2020, 10:54:11 AM
One week makes so much difference and I can totally understand it. One week ago we were really afraid that bitcoin was going down and now we are saying "well maybe not anymore" and that is what makes a difference in a week in corona as well. One week ago turkey had 1 person infected, today they have 200 with 2 dead another week and who knows.

Even a day makes a difference really, in this kind of situation. I saw when price just kept nosediving. Read somewhere that it was at one point over 50% in a 24-hour period, but 30% was big enough for me to sit up and take notice.

Not that my mind's changed in any sense, but what I'm wondering now is, miners are the ones in pain... right? So they'll want to push prices up as high as it can get before the halving, because as someone said, this should immediately mean a doubling in price just to keep in check.
10732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian Central Bank Admits It Can’t Ban Bitcoin on: March 20, 2020, 10:01:31 AM
Someone who gets it. It's a bit strange though I got to say from all the different Russian states, with local politicians seemingly able to lobby for nuclear powered blockchain hubs that even supposedly could welcome crypto mining companies. And the you've got finance ministers and central banks issuing conflicting statements.

I wonder if it's just bad reporting, deliberate misreporting or plain old lost in translation vibes?
10733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Calling the Bitcoin community to help battle COVID-19 on: March 19, 2020, 07:51:57 PM
Be careful what you download, even if it is claimed that it is for a good cause. It wouldn't be the first time someone has misused a time of crisis to gain profit for themselves. Not saying that is the case here but like always: "Don't trust. Verify"!

I agree with that. Of course that is good and noble thing to support such initiative to fight corona virus but we also need to think about security and safety in the cyber world, so check everything before you start to download something on your computer.
Agree with it. Who knows what actually happens behind the scenes until they provide a public display of their process.
You never know if they are actually using the CPU/GPU power for data analytics or mining cryptocurrencies.
We should research in detail and verify before we actually take part in it.

It's a really old project and you can look it up yourself... which I would hope anyone would self-verify on their own.

I'll admit, I have no true idea of what happens behind the scenes, but there have been hundreds verifying the datalogs and this is a super old method (I myself used Seti@Home and then IBM's World Community Grid for very long time as well on a project related to mapping the human genome project.

It also existed long before crypto mining so... maybe it doesn't deserve this level of criticism.

Welcome @iasenko!
10734  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-03-18] Interest in BTC Futures Drops Amid Discussions on: March 19, 2020, 05:12:42 PM
I'm wondering what would they call "bottom" this time? I recall when BTC was staying above $9k, not so long ago, some "experts" were saying that $7.700 was a new bottom. But instead of bouncing up from $7.7k BTC plummeted to $5k from there. Or, am I missing something, and we are in totally different situation currently, when Bitcoin can only go up from the "bottom"?

Yeah I remember that too. Flags were lined up in the streets, we had months of low volatility and people were ready to say: this is it.

Then of course, we also have some of those calling even 2k and lower as potential bottoms now, but calling lower lows after Bitcoin just took a smashing isn't exactly prophetic now, is it?

Anyway. Interesting if stablecoins really are all backed by US dollars, what's to happen if they're all redeemed? Do we know there are audits on all these? And futures have no interest? Say whaaaat? I get if the bulls aren't interested but don't people be all lining up to short BTC now?

TP thing is cray guys, but yeah I think in many parts of Asia they don't get it. If you haven't tried a bidet or toilet hose or japanese toilet spray... it's a lifechanger.

Meanwhile, it's not the TP shortage that's making me annoyed. Rice, milk, eggs, noodles, pasta. All out every day at the shops because the supermarkets near me haven't started rationing yet. I gotta do longer shopping times now just to get stuff for my elderly neighbours who obviously can't travel far to get overpriced items from cornershops.

Game theory shopping....

@panjul yeah. I consider myself a true casual gambler, I mean most of my bets are beer money, but seeing my stats lately, I realise I've been betting beer money several times a day and often, on weekends on sports, taking crates of beer to town hahaha. On a pure dollar basis, I'm spending the salaries of what I used to earn in my first job in a couple of days, just to give context.

And still, I'm a casual gambler with no chance of winning those big wager comps.

Which makes me really appreciate the good stuff like Invincibles!
10737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Calling the Bitcoin community to help battle COVID-19 on: March 19, 2020, 12:34:53 PM
Just an update, and hoping to see more people sign up, it's not like we're getting any joy mining real crypto on our lousy devices right guys? Anywya, finally getting some work units today, but still a high failure rate when receiving the WU, though once connected, it's fine. Submitted my first units to Team Buy Bitcoin, yay! Second WU wasn't for coronavirus though but =)

10738  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Private Poker Tournament @ SwC Poker on March 15th. COME PLAY! on: March 19, 2020, 09:03:08 AM
Hey here is my address bitcoin:1GFpUVJ4RyMWTFeeQ1rc3Nr5SwpUb33pih
Ore just transfer it on SwC Poker to ceehe.
What ever you like 😉
Thank you again and i hope I see you all next time 😎✌️

Sorry about the delay, and thanks to figment for notifying me;)

I've sent you directly to this address but I only send 0.00075, here's the transaction hash: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/dc5341c68833fef8b424b5e7b072f88bfca20370e2213ee61d828c1684894201

I will send you the remainder of it in chips (250) when my transaction hits SWC! Sorry for that, haha. I was just trying to clear up all my smaller wallets =D

@figment I probably will try to make it to this particular game, but it will depend highly again on the family condition of the day. Incredible amount of txs in mempool (considering price) though I suppose 20+sats for reasonable confirmation is a far cry from 2017/18!
10739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 18, 2020, 09:19:44 PM
@cryptofrka yeah I'm actually pretty ok with what's going on. I know it's a bummer we won't make the record of winning title so early (and make it impossible for anyone to beat) but in my mind we've won it no matter what and no one will ever make me feel bad about it for as long as I live. That said, if we never win the title after this, it will be some kind of pain to add to the mountain of pain we already have as Liverpool supporters. But we're better than that and we can fight again for the title. I think we will only get better.

@DeathAngel. I personally think contracts are easily taken care of with insurance and settlements. TV companies will be the least worried as they'll have all their profits booked in. The obligation for the leagues to finish is of course waived by force majeure so really, it's just for sporting reasons that we must find a way to finish the season.

I have many lols here.

1. TikTok. All due respect but yeah that's the source for jokes and dangerous memes, not legitimate doxing.
2. Zynga. Yes, a guy behind Zynga has had other names. Satoshi is a super common Japanese name by the way.
3. Wikipedia admin approved post. Generally means a good thing but I have personal experience with that and it by no means lends veracity to the claim, just veracity of the material supporting the claim.
