I think ktttn has lots of Belief Systems (B.S.) that need tending to.

No, a private goon squad can not enter my home and take stuff with them because this would constitute an armed robbery and then the next buildings they would "enter" would be a court room and a prison.

I said nothing of that act itself being legal or illegal, only that the evidence collected is still admissible in court.

http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/search-seizure-criminal-law-30183.html

"Restrictions on Private Security Personnel

Private security personnel currently outnumber police officers in the United States by three to one. As a result, whether you're shopping in a supermarket or a pharmacy, working in an office building, or visiting a friend in a housing project, you may be more likely to be confronted by a security guard than by a police officer. At the present time, the Fourth Amendment does not apply to searches carried out by non-governmental employees like private security guards.

For example, assume that a shopping mall security guard acting on a pure hunch searches a teenager's backpack. Inside the backpack the guard finds a baggie containing an illegal drug. The guard can detain the teenager, call the police, and turn the drug over to a police officer. The drug is admissible in evidence, because the search was conducted by a private security guard. As private security guards increasingly exercise traditional police functions, courts may one day apply Fourth Amendment guidelines to their conduct."

The state in many cases has sponsored private police force and used them to replace a classic policing system.

You and I have a different definition of "private". I define it owned and provided privately on a voluntary basis. You apparently define it as owned privately and you don't care if it's provided through public or private funding or if it's mandated by public(coercive) or private(voluntary) laws.

A private police force is just that, private, as opposed to public, which is what classical police forces are, under public infrastructure and funding. Some times public funding is used to fund private police forces. How these private police forces are administrated is 100% up to whomever funds it, be it Hitler reincarnated to mall security guards. As far as what I personally feel, I would appreciate it if you leave elaboration of my own opinions up to me and not assume and try to interpret them.
10784  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The private sector can NOT provide a benevolent police/security service [proof] on: July 06, 2013, 07:14:55 PM
To give you an example, a private police force can enter your home without a warrant and collect evidence that is admissible in court.

Who would pay for such a private police force? I know I wouldn't.

If traditional police did this the evidence would be ruled irrelevant because collecting it would be violating the warrant requirement before search and seizure.

They already do that routinely, just look around. And guess what, nothing happens. Meanwhile if a private police/security service did that they'd go out of business fast.

p.s.: Way to be a dick and comment without watching the video which is my main point of this thread.

The state in many cases has sponsored private police force and used them to replace a classic policing system. As with many choices made by the state, you don't have a say in it. Yes police already routinely violate law, but every time they do that they put themselves under criminal and civil liability which could in fact be prosecuted. Private police have no more liability than any other private individual.

P.S. Way to be a dick and not read my whole comment. Also since when do I have to watch a video to have an opinion on a subject I am already well versed in?
10785  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Postal Service Logging All Mail for Law Enforcement on: July 06, 2013, 06:56:57 PM
Tracking mail for delivery and tracking mail regardless if it has tracking services, building a giant database, and handing it off to 3rd parties is different than signing up for a requested service. Information is already leaking out that the prism system is being used to collect information to sell to PRIVATE INDUSTRY to the highest bidder. In addition people don't realize how detailed of a profile of somone's life one can make with such little bits of information, and how easily that information can be used to hurt you regardless of the legality of your activities.
10786  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The private sector can NOT provide a benevolent police/security service [proof] on: July 06, 2013, 06:45:56 PM
I did not watch this video, but having researched this subject previously I can tell you private for profit police force is NOT the answer.  People assume there will be more oversight, but there is actually LESS oversight because private police are not restricted by the same rules, procedures, and restrictions of traditional police. Don't get me wrong, traditional police style systems here in the US are extremely corrupt, but they are still limited by the law to some degree. To give you an example, a private police force can enter your home without a warrant and collect evidence that is admissible in court. If traditional police did this the evidence would be ruled irrelevant because collecting it would be violating the warrant requirement before search and seizure. This is just one small example of how a private police force can actually strip you of even more rights.

EDIT: After watching the video I see this organization is centered on community rather than profits like most private police force examples I have seen. I approve of this kind of private police force structure, heavily moderated by the community, and dependent upon results, not fines.

Please review my trust history or PM me for more detailed feedback, or questions.
10791  Other / Politics & Society / Re: California man faces 13 years in jail for scribbling anti-bank messages in chalk on: June 28, 2013, 09:22:35 PM
I actually agree with it, but they shouldn't ban him from mentioning it, they should just make him look like a moron, people like this piss me off because they don't understand the meaning of consent and think freedom means you get to fuck over other people without repercussions, they should bear in mind that if they lived in a completely lawless society they could end up being shot at for doing that.

I think the real question here is does the punishment fit the crime? If his crime was damage to property (AKA vandalism) I think each count might cost about $50 to hire a guy with a power washer to fix it (or just a long rain). Does that sound like something that warrants 13 years in prison to you?

Now however if they are prosecuting him based on the content of his speech within the act of vandalism, unless the message itself breaks established limits on content of speech (no direct threats, etc), they are in fact judging the content of his speech and he should be protected under the first amendment. His words as far as I know were not inherently criminal. Give the man a fine and send him home. Why do we let murderers out in a year or two but send a guy writing on a wall with some chalk to prison for 13? If you can answer that you will understand USA much better.
10792  Other / Off-topic / Re: Internationally shipped package MIA... on: June 28, 2013, 08:51:35 PM
I refuse to ship internationally for this very reason unless it can go letter class, or the buyer accepts 100% liability for lost shipments. The only other option is to pay an insane amount for priority global express which is 3x as much or more to ship. Also don't forget the fun forms, and driving to the post office. I wonder why USA's exports are so small....
10793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING[ANN] ------- Physical LiteCoins Available Now - Physical Crypto! ------- on: June 27, 2013, 04:57:06 AM
I few reasons I support self moderated posts:
-Limit troll activity from competition or hobbyists
-Allow a small controlled space for personal OPs
-We cant expect moderators to wipe our little tushies every 10 seconds
-Moderators don't suffer if a thread is being hijacked the OP does
-Moderators couldn't moderate at this kind of level for everyone even if they spent every second of every day modding
-Make the OP responsible for their threads, not the mods
-Nothing is stopping people from posting in trading discussion, scammer accusations, trust, or even the very same section as the OP.

part of free speech is also having your own forum for your opinions. Hijacking a thread and trolling is often used as a form of censorship or instrument of harm on otherwise legitimate dealers. A handful of people can easily destroy a business plan if they put some effort into it via nothing other than slander, especially in a community so reliant on trust via reputation.

10795  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Foundation receives cease and desist order from California on: June 25, 2013, 05:23:18 PM

If you want to know what their endgame for Bitcoin is, look at the history of the Liberty Dollar:

Quote

DO NOT compare bitcoin with liberty dollar.
the issue with liberty dollar was the fact that the metal coins were made to replicate a actual FIAT dollar coin. which comes under counterfeiting laws.

bitcoin is not a counterfeit of FIAT. its a totally unrelated and new currency. (well the thailand authorities could take BTC symbol a bit personal. but its still not as bad as the liberty dollar)

I have been following NORFED/Liberty Dollar since around 2006, and Liberty Dollars actually lead me to Bitcoin strangely enough. The entire reason NORFED was created was that it serves as a protest and alternative to the federal reserve. Why would a group protesting the federal reserve make currency intended to be copies of federal reserve notes? They wouldn't, and didn't. If you bother to look at the rounds Liberty Dollar issued, you would NEVER confuse them for federal reserve notes or coinage issued by the treasury. They operated in PUBLIC since 1998. Prosecutors hadn't noticed this until just recently? Does the treasury stamp coins with a website? Do they even make coinage that size? There are a lot of requirements of similitude in order for counterfeiting to be considered.  Liberty Dollar did not meet these requirements. They were railroaded.

This is a PERFECT example of how the "rule of law" only works for the status quo and the powers that be. Anyone who tries to change the system within the system better watch out, because they already slipped a noose around your neck, they are just waiting until they find undesirable but legal activity to pull the trap door out from under you and declare you a "criminal". We are all subject to this.

If you'd really like to be the bigger man, admit you lied and come up with your own ideas.

Honestly, TECSHARE, it doesn't much matter whose idea it was.  You don't have a monopoly on ideas.  It's called competition, and is generally considered a good thing around here.

As for who is scamming whom, I care not at all.  Let the buyer beware.  If anyone sends either of you any funds at all, let it be known that they take the risks.  Don't get the idea that mods filter out scams.  We don't.

And anyone offering a service, but self-moderates his advertising thread to remove detractors, deserves negative trust IMHO.

My problem is with his actions, not just that he opened a service like mine.  It is the principal of the matter. I am sure he came crying to the moderators because he can't handle the mess he created by lying, defaming, and attempting to rip off my idea. If he left out the first two I wouldn't be here. I am sure you could give a crap how this is resolved as long as it requires a minimal amount of effort on your part, and you like many other people shy away from the slightest conflict. I don't. Funny how the lying and attempt at defamation were left out of the equation on your part, but your right I should let people walk all over me because this community clearly respects one another other.

As far as self moderation, I don't know if you have noticed, but you don't get all the trolls. I fought for this feature so that I could manage my own sales threads without crying to mommy and daddy to remove the naughty trolls. I have had people offer to send me over $9000 upfront, based on my reputation alone, but you are right, I could be risking my 2 year old rep with hundreds of trades, and over $1000 fronted to me with all agreements honored so I can scam people out of less than a dollar.

I did so deliberately, because any lying or defamation is generally irrelevant to my point here.  I know about your reputation, and it's as good as anyone else's.  That said, I've personally been burned by several former forum members who spent a great deal of time building up said reputations.  I'm not saying that you're one of those people, I honestly don't know.  But nor does it matter, because I've learned the hard way that trust should be hard earned when money is involved.

BTW, I (we) don't get all the trolls mostly because what you might consider trolling, I might consider to be just an angry customer, or a joke, or just an artist.  Just because it's at your expense, doesn't mean that it's trolling.  To get deleted, it generally has to be offensive to many (if not most) people, and lack any redeeming value such as entertainment value or a rational dissenting opinion; which is why I've never deleted any of your posts TECSHARE, despite the fact that your username ends up running across the reporting system more than most.   I'm not here to keep the peace, and I'm no one's counselor.

Even if we both had the same definition of trolling, you and I both know damned well it would take 1000 years to get rid of all the troll posts here, and why should you care if it does not directly effect you? I wouldn't. As you said it is primarily at the OP's expense. Perhaps when I am selling things I am not interested in entertainment, art, or opinions, but only selling items or services. I don't think it is unreasonable to have a small area to represent ones self free from interference from trolls and other OCD stalkers (not trading partners) holding grudges because of my own opinions.

If I WERE up to anything fraudulent, nothing would stop people from destroying my reputation via the scammer accusation area, trader discussion area, or the trust system. As I said previously I don't shy away from conflict just because it might make some people feel uneasy, or because they might disagree. Anyone who has actually traded with me knows I take my trading seriously and go the extra mile to provide what was promised. If this were a popularity contest then I am sure many of my posts would be removed, but its not and I attempt to follow the forum rules to the best of my knowledge.

I don't mess with people who don't mess with me first, and I don't feel I should have to mute myself because some one might get upset for a few seconds. Also I would be willing to bet that my name comes up on the reporting system from the same small hand full of people it always does shotgunning reports hoping one will stick. These would be the same people I have had trouble with for a long while, and is the very reason I self moderate my threads.

10798  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bee population dying off on: June 24, 2013, 04:52:31 AM
This has been a mystery for years. Bee poppulations have also been dropping for about a decade now. Hopefully we can find out the reason soon.

Don't worry. Bees are livestock, just like chicken and cows. Wild bee population is right-sized depending on available biotopes suitable for bees, and pressure from other species. yes, it's called evolution.

This bee-thing is a plot by bee-owners to force other people to pay, and to beg the government for protection from competition.

[sarcasm] Yes because apiaries are big corporate agribusinesses in general right? Certainly not usually run by independent operators usually on a small scale. If that were the case then that would mean thousands of bee keepers all over the nation have been cooperating in a plot to destroy their own valuable livestock in a grand conspiracy to hopefully trick the government into spending money excessively (as if they need help). Makes sense to me. [/sarcasm]

Trying to imagine reality outside time is a good example of how human logic cannot comprehend ultimate reality. You have to step outside of intelligence to witness that truth.

It's easier to claim that "it's not possible for humans to understand, period, so don't even try or question." I mean, if you wave your hand, you are moving matter, from one location, to another, over a period of time. Take time out of the equation, and there is no motion, no action, no nothing. For someone to do anything, the doing suggests that something is being done over a period of time. Maybe you can explain how something can be done without time? Even if it's not a logical explanation?

Try imagining everything that is, ever was, or will be as one giant unending chain of atoms. Imagine your birth, childhood, adolescence, and eventual death as one unbroken chain of matter that connects with everything before and after it. Every molecule of water, land, and life in one unbroken chain circulating our solar system as one giant linked whole with no growth or movement. Now scale this up to a galactic or universal level. Now you have a sliver of an image of what timelessness is. If you want to learn more check out some books on time as the 4th dimension.
