These Bootstrap sites are starting to look bland. Customize them, goddammit!

Thanks for your feedback. You are right, it should be done.
1082  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade Bot forcing price down on: September 28, 2011, 02:40:49 PM
What's pushing the prices down is the fact that the inflation isn't matching the growth of the market, and is actually outpacing it. No one seems to complain when the inflation can't keep up with the market, because everyone "gets richer" ($_$) it's only when the market falls behind people start whining and looking for something to blame.

hm... inflation? if you mean emission, it is only about 35% a year and is doomed to decline.. do you want to say the market is growing even slower? I doubt it. the downtrend we saw is just a consequence of a bubble & broken expectations.. not sure if it is somehow related to real economy Smiley
1083  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade Bot forcing price down on: September 28, 2011, 08:06:35 AM
I agree with bitfoo. Moreover, there is no significant difference between people and bots. The difference is only in level of automation of decision process and speed. Some people automate their analysis (for example use different indicators) but take decisions and make orders manually. Others write high frequency bots and don't care about long term analysis. Limiting bots doesn't make any sense. To my mind it is the same as forbidding to use graphs, indicators, excel, etc.

Also, get a way for affiliates to say if they want adult ads or not, and for advertisers(or you) to mark ads as adult.

I would consider using your service, but i don't want to show XXX ads, no way!

I've added a rough and simple mechanism to specify the level of affiliate's tolerance to evil via parameter "Filtration level". Set it to 100 if you own a web-site for innocent kids who live in the country with strict laws and censorship, or set it to 0 if you don't care and nothing is forbidden in your country Smiley

Ads are subjectively rated by me. New ads have default rating of 0. If ad's rating is lower than affiliate's filtration level then this ad won't be shown on that affiliate's sites.

Thanks for your feedback. This is a very important, but difficult issue. I understand that many people wouldn't like any XXX ads to be displayed on their sites (in some countries it could be even unlawful).

Frankly speaking I wanted to rely on spirit of freedom and free market (which would decrease the frequency of XXX ads on sites which are not visited by target groups). If people support the idea of pre-moderation... well.. I can implement it. Or is there any other efficient & reliable way to prevent adult (and other controversial) ads from being displayed?

Update: oh, I think I got it. There could be a special category for safe ads (which could be filled manually by me). Affiliates would have an option to show all ads (unmoderated), or to show ads from that category. I think it is feasible. Easy to implement. Will do it tomorrow.

looks great, but only text so far... do you plan to do a banner image version?

Thanks! If there is a need for graphic banners - I'll add support of them (shouldn't be too hard to do). But at the moment I think it would be wise to see if system works fine before adding new features to it Smiley
1087  Economy / Marketplace / Anonymous Ads - bitcoin advertising network [migration to v.2] on: September 25, 2011, 11:09:26 PM
Hi!

I developed Anonymous Ads - advertising network that accepts bitcoins.

This service is quite unusual:
  • It is fully transparent, it doesn't collect any personal data, database backups are published daily.
  • It allows advertising on sites, blogs, forum posts or signatures (as I do: ), etc.
  • It uses unusual mechanism to distribute impressions: the probability of ad to be shown for particular publisher (affiliate) depends on historical profitability of that ad for that affiliate during last <billing cycle> days. Please see how it works for details.
  • It appends ad's link with bitcoin address to enable advertisers to pay for action (see goal tracking) to avoid paying for inefficient traffic.

The general idea is simple:

1. Advertisers pay to bootstrap their ads thus getting some (up to 10%) impressions from affiliates. This money goes to Anonymous Ads (currently 10% of them goes to affiliate that referred the advertiser and 50% goes to support affiliates that have their codes on listed sites).

2. Advertisers reward appropriate affiliates to get more (up to 90%) impressions from them (see details). This money are being redirected to affiliates' withdrawal addresses (when income hits the threshold of 0.011 btc) with a small fee of 0.001 btc.

So, advertisers post their ads, pay for bootstrapping to the system and later pay for successful visits to affiliates.

Affiliates register their withdrawal addresses, embed HTML codes into their sites and receive payments from advertisers. They also receive 10% from bootstrap payments of advertisers referred by them. And they also receive some support from Anonymous Ads if they add their sites to the list (see details).

Anonymous Ads is in alpha-stage yet, I will be grateful for any questions, comments and bug reports.

If you want to support Anonymous Ads - buy AA at glbse.

Is the pyramid code open source?  I wonder how it works internally.

no, it is not.. maybe I'll publish it in future.. haven't decided yet if it is worth of doing )
1090  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [Beta] - get 0.01 btc for free! on: September 23, 2011, 09:43:21 PM
Hi arsenische,

If someone is already at the website and tries to copy and paste a referral link into the browser and refreshes the page the sponsor number at the bottom of the page(by server time) does not change. If they register they will be under that referral number. This is how it should work, right? The referral should go to the first member that introduced the program(hence the 30 day period).

n.olmos

yes, exactly
1091  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [Beta] - get 0.01 btc for free! on: September 23, 2011, 08:57:19 PM
For once that there is someone trying to register as my referral (he even said he tried several times, hehehe)...  Anyway, thanks for fixing it!

not sure I fixed it though... the problem could be connected with browser settings as well. for example, if cookies are disabled, then it is not supposed to work
1092  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Pyramid [Beta] - get 0.01 btc for free! on: September 23, 2011, 08:44:33 PM
Thanks for the hint, N.Olmos. Since it is not the first complain, it could be a server-side problem as well (for example, server could suddenly remove session variables before session cookie expired). I modified the code so that sponsor id is stored in a separate cookie. Hope the problem is gone.

I am a new member, 824, I want a 0.01 BTC. Smiley

0.01 btc has been sent to your withdrawal address, thanks for joining Bitcoin Pyramid Smiley

Asset prices do drop in a deflationary economy. If you are attempting to challenge this assertion please explain.

It does not cost me '50 bucks' to transfer money across borders. It costs the current spread quoted in the FX markets which most traders would consider worth paying to avoid Bitcoins volatility.

Why are guys all so against people 'logging' your financial transactions. Some proof of payment tends to be quite useful in the real world. Its why we have invented things called receipts.

Real World Scenario:

1) I buy a book of Amazon for 10 Bitcoins.
2) I send Amazon 10 Bitcoins.
3) Book never turns up.
4) I ask Amazon where my book is.
5) Amazon ask me to prove I paid for the book then they will send it.
6) I can't because transactions are anonymous.
7) Entire system fails as no legal recourse exists.

You can see here that the entire premise of Bitcoin being anonymous has just been totally destroyed in 7 points. It is open to systemic fraud and confidence will never materialise.

Its not surprising that the entire Bitcoin 'project' was thought up by a cryptographer.

in this hypothetical situation when you buy a book of Amazon, Amazon can provide you a receipt with unique bitcoin address and delivery address, signed by its private key. then you will be able to prove that the payment has been sent to that address, but the book has not been delivered (and it doesn't matter who ordered the book, paid for it or was going to receive it)
1095  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: September 18, 2011, 09:32:11 PM
Wow! I don't realize what happens. Can please someone explain?

just usual market volatility, which may move the price to 100$/btc or 0.01$/btc... equal chances Smiley

For 2 days volatility was less than 50c.

oh.. this tiny volatility or about ~10% for 2 days? great achievement Smiley

Most of the single massive walls are fake, multiple medium sized walls is usually more reliable.

I think those walls are made by bots, and they the bots can create big walls as easy as dozens of small ones. We see what they want us to see, so don't pay much attention to bids & asks Smiley
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: new site, stuffexists.com - Bitcoin Portal on: September 18, 2011, 08:15:15 PM
wow.. nice site! you can join Bitcoin Pyramid for free and post your referral link as well (to the GAMES section), maybe earn something... Wink
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ƀ Another Bitcoin identity on: September 18, 2011, 01:49:48 PM
Why not to consider the "Б" sign? It also has a horizontal line (on the top), it looks more balanced, pronounced as "Be" and is present in all Cyrillic fonts Smiley

Would love to see some daily (or hourly/weekly) stats, in addition to the all time stats, and individual user stats.

might want to add stats on how much a user has missed out on because they haven't deposited enough.  Might make people want to deposit more.

Thanks for ideas, I agree that it would be nice to have more detailed stats on the member's and ad's pages. Unfortunately this kind of info is not being saved in the database. Probably daily/weekly ads stats could be reconstructed from database backups. Amount of money missed due to insufficient deposit could be also reconstructed to some extent from history (though it wouldn't be accurate since there is no way to consider the impact of missed random referrals and missed random payments). Not sure if I can implement it quickly & securely, need to think it over.
