Moin,

Solana Migration Update 3
gm Helium @Community
This is a bug-tracking update to the migration of the blockchain, which was completed today at 19:32. The Helium Core Developers are cleaning up stray bugs and issues from the Solana Migration. Please let us know in the
solana-migration-questions channel if you believe you have found a bug or issue. 🙏
The Core Developers are actively tracking major issues noted below with the deployment. They are:
🔴 IOT Pre-mine Calculation Error
🔴 IOT and MOBILE subDAO rewards still not available to claim
🔴 Wallets unable to carry out complex transactions without more SOL
🔴 Helium Wallet App unable to send MOBILE and IOT on Solana
🔴 5-year token lock position was initially incorrectly shown on Realms
🔴 Several known bugs for Helium Wallet App, including default Realms URL reading ‘devnet’ while on Mainnet, Orca missing a Helium Wallet adapter, and MOBILE decimal points incorrect in transaction details
All of these issues were unintentional and are being addressed. Read on for more information:
IOT Pre-mine Calculation Error
An implementation bug was found in the IOT pre-mine calculation, where all Hotspots active within the past 30 days and not in the denylist were supposed to be rewarded an IOT token pre-mine. Instead, only those Hotspots that participated in PoC were considered active Hotspots and were rewarded. This included witnesses and challenges but not data transfers and thus excluded Data Only Hotspots.
The IOT pre-mine cannot be recalculated since IOT tokens that were already distributed to Hotspot owners cannot be taken back. If the community wishes to resolve this situation, there would need to be a community proposal to change emissions going forward and should include an estimation of impact. The Foundation is available to help do data analysis towards this effort.
IOT and MOBILE subDAO rewards delayed
The daily IOT and MOBILE rewards for Hotspots and other rewardable entities will not yet be claimable after the end of the Helium epoch today (Helium epochs last 24 hours and start/end each day around midnight UTC).
The Oracles are still gathering raw data for PoC and Data Transfer, and they will process this overnight. Before they are able to reward Hotspots, the data must be verified. After this process which will likely occur overnight or sometime tomorrow morning, Oracles will start submitting reward shares on-chain, and at that point, rewards will be claimable by Hotspot owners. Oracle data is intact and will be published in S3 buckets, as expected.
Wallets unable to carry out complex transactions without more SOL
All Helium wallets received 0.00139 SOL (enough for 100 standard transfers). However, this is not enough to pay for space needed on Solana (account rent) incurred when transactions need to make complex actions (~0.002 fees per account). For example, locking HNT to get veHNT requires about ~0.006 SOL (~$0.15 worth of SOL), so users that do not transfer extra SOL to their wallets are unable to lock HNT to receive veHNT at this time. Swapping HNT or other Helium tokens to receive SOL will not work because the way these swaps usually work requires a temporary account to be created, therefore incurring a rent requirement, even though you get the rent back when the transaction finishes. You can send additional SOL to your wallet address to pay for these fees. Still, the Helium core devs are working on the way to allow Helium users to swap Helium tokens for additional SOL without needing to pay rent so that they get enough SOL.
5-year token lock position was initially incorrectly shown on Realms
The Realms UI initially showed a 5-year token lock position, but the max lock-up duration, as specified by HIP 51, was 4 years. The button was removed, and we will follow up on a plan for positions created beyond the 4-year maximum lock time.
Several known bugs for Helium Wallet App
Developers are actively tracking and working on fixing multiple Helium Wallet App bugs, including the Helium Wallet app being unable to send IOT or MOBILE. Please see the Wallet App repository to track these bugs and others further: https://github.com/helium/wallet-app/issues
Another update will be provided around 10 AM Pacific / 5 PM UTC. This is Donnerstag, 20. April 2023 19:00 in your device’s local time.
Thank you in advance for your patience as the Core Devs work through these issues.
