1082  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 11, 2018, 12:14:43 PM
If you give out merit, will that be taken against your own merit?
-snip-

No. Your merit points cannot decrease, it only increases by the number of recieved sMerit.
Now your sMerit is a defined number that you can send to others which decreases but can also increase by the half of recieved sMerit.
Example :
You have 10 Merit + 5 sMerit
Someone sent you 2 sMerit, you will have now 12 Merit + 6 sMerit.
You sent 4 sMerit to 4 members then you will left with 12 Merit + 2 sMerit.

It needs 1.5 month to be a Jr member... Looking forwarding to that.

Not exactly. You only need 3 periods.
You posted in the current period, the next period starts Tuesday 16, 2018 then the third one on Tuesday January 30, 2018.
So if you keep posting in each period and you reach +30 posts by January 30, 2018 you can become a junior member.
(more informations about when periods start could be found here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12saLhlUoqIdairxzuSPu6EYGrt7FN2lOstO1yDjCEbA/htmlview?pli=1)
1087  Economy / Speculation / Re: I bought at 19k, now what? on: February 08, 2018, 11:35:17 PM
I bought 3 btc on credit for 19k about. What should I do? I am way underwater.

Keep it until the bitcoin price recover. You shouldn't buy at top, Trading Bitcoin requires to have a full attention on the price and the way it moves. Next time study carefully the chart . Now you have to wait few months (maybe years?)
1088  Economy / Speculation / Re: One last dip before moon? on: February 08, 2018, 01:52:47 PM
hey everyone
i was looking at bitcoin charts
and i feel like we are in a replay atm
if what i think is right then we still have 1 more dip before back to $13k~15k
BUT
if this happen
IF THIS REALLY HAPPEN
this last dip gonna going to be "deep"
i predict $4k maybe $3.500
if bitcoin hit $9k before this.. i'm gonna sell everything to rebuy later
someone think like this too?  Roll Eyes

I am going to HODL even if the price is dropping badly. I may be kind of blaming myself for not selling at $18k then buying again but I don't regret anything. I started from 0 and I don't mind returning to it. I believe in bitcoin and that's enough for me.
And this picture tells it all. Moon we are coming

Ok, we were all enthusiastic about merit and how it works,etc...in the first week, but until now the first topics in meta are still about merit system!
@admins or global mods
1- make this topic sticky
2- merge the other topics in this one? Or delete it.
3- same thing should apply in different english sections
4- thx...

Does the time of being online affect these criteria?

Time being online has nothing to do with activity nor merit.
You can login and just browse the forums without any contributions, your 0 posts will not make you even a newbie.
If you want to progress here, you have to make posts, if you want to pass to member status you have to get in addition 10 merit points by making contributive posts.

1095  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2018-2-4] [ BANKS OF AMERICA BANNING BITCOIN" on: February 05, 2018, 08:12:20 AM
The topic is ClickBait. These Banks did not BAN Bitcoin, they simply banned the buying of bitcoins with Credit cards issued by them. The Banks are protecting people from themselves. A lot of people are buying bitcoins with money that they do not have and this is just stupid. < We always tell people NOT to do that >

This will not stop people from buying physical assets and selling that at a loss and then buying bitcoins with that. These Banks are just doing this to wash their hands, so when the government step in later, they can say that they banned Bitcoin purchases with their credit cards. ^lol^

I don't get it. So, let's say that I have $10k in this bank and I want to buy amazon gift card so it passes, then when I try to buy bitcoin (virtual card) I can't. I am not buying a harmful stuff, i am free to buy everything with my money. Simply banks trying to protect itself and profitable circuit from a hard competitor.

It's a DDoS.

Meanwhile in the cloudflare website :

1097  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 04, 2018, 12:16:48 AM
You like a post then press a button : "suggest this post to sources"

That would be a boon to beggars—and most of all to farmers with lots of alts.

True, for sure it will be eligible only for higher ranks and preferably excluding this feature from your own post.
1098  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 03, 2018, 11:26:18 PM
Hi,
What about to limit amount of merit that can be given at once? Or limit the amount of merit that can be given to specific user?
I've already seen a thread where somebody wanted to sell his sMerit - so these limitations could help against it - what do you think guys?
Nice weekend to all !

Report the topic if he is offering to give sMerit for money.
There is a limitation of 50 per post.
Personally prefer to disable sMerit-on to legendary and limit sMerit-out to 10 per month for everyone except sources (which isn't obvious).
1099  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: February 03, 2018, 11:20:23 PM
Hello good day. My bitcointalk forum activity was updated to 126 but my status hasn't changed from MEMBER to FULL MEMBER. What could possibly be the reason for this?, given I have crossed the threshold to attain the rank of full member. Thanks.

1- Read what's mean merit that was added in your profile.
2- search here for the answer https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
3- couldn't see it? Get 100 merit points. Tada!
1100  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 03, 2018, 11:15:30 PM
This is day 11 since we started using the Merit system and I have less than the half of sMerit i started with.
Main consequence : i am getting more selective, i would like to give some posts 1 point but then I say : well, better to keep my predefined tiny number for better posts in the +oo.
My suggestion : adding a report feature to sources. You like a post then press a button : "suggest this post to sources" (accuracy could be done here too but whatever). Of course, if this feature will get popular, it is impossible to handle all of it but...well, you aren't obliged to do it. Some people who aren't sources could join the club too if they like to do some charity.
