1081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Educate yourself to be a frugal gambler on: October 23, 2023, 09:46:26 AM
in this always goes the word "easier said than done"

because while the truth is we must just enjoy gambling but the thing is majority of the gamblers are seeking for money when they gamble and not the other way around.
to have fun? yeah it is but do you really handle this?
that you only play to have fun and enjoy?answer it for yourself first.
Its clearly understandable that gamblers are anything but frugal spenders. They once addicted will spend more than they can afford and its something that they cannot control. A frugal person on the other than will budget and spend as per need trying to save every penny at every instance so much so that they become obsessed with savings.

The better term is bankroll management and again another concept less understood by gamblers who regularly play EV- games and burn their sats on slot machines and dice rolls.
1082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you take sides on: October 23, 2023, 09:41:53 AM
This whole situation is aggravated by the fact that we are in the world of cryptocurrencies, and this world is inextricably linked with anonymity. We have already seen a lot of scam: profiles of non-real people on the web, which were created in order for everything to be put there in their projects, and then they disappeared. Unfortunately, this is the dark side of freedom in the world of cryptocurrencies.
Therefore, I prefer not to believe everything I read, both here on the forum, and especially in the news of influencers.

Casinos who have gone scam have been scam from the beginning, they got caught eventually and then the sufferers are the ones who were playing on it. Thing is that you should stick to well-repuated and old casinos before jumping into new ones. With so many of them coming up who is going to certify something as genuine or not? The forum cryptographers who are tech-savvy and are well versed with provably fair systems can help you decide in this regard.

Genuine casinos will ban users who try to exploit or cheat the system. There is nothing wrong in this and all such cases the casino gets public support.

The news of influencers should never be taken at face value, heck anything that you see or hear should be questioned and observed before accepting.
1083  Local / India / Re: Indian Stock Markets VS Bitcoin on: October 22, 2023, 05:59:10 PM
I have investments in all the traditional markets and crypto. All have their pros and cons and knowing only one of them is a disadvantage.

One thing I have understood over the years is that speculative trading carries a mental health problem. Hence a cushioning effect is necessary and that is where different classes of assets come in. One day market A may crash but market B might not. You mind gets cushioning from the fact that you have investment in market B too.

Those who have experienced the market will understand what I am trying to imply.

Coming to stocks I mostly go for long term holding of well reputed companies, their dividends keep kicking in every quarter.
1084  Local / India / Re: Discussing about Bitcoin to Friends and Relatives. on: October 22, 2023, 04:44:28 PM
One common question I face, is that bitcoin does not exist in real unlike physical money. I try to explain that bitcoin can be acquired by spending physical money similar to what the barter system has been at one time. It is minted solving a math problem by the miners, but these things boggles the minds of non-techy people - how is that even possible is the next question I face.

Clearly we are ill-equipped to answer such questions. Lets make this thread a place where we can discuss about common problems and logical fallacies that we are facing when trying to spread the knowledge of crypto.
1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which old coin do you prefer? Litecoin or Dogecoin? on: October 22, 2023, 10:57:11 AM
I would have bought both if this crazy space lover guy had not come in to shill for one make the entire crypto ecosystem look like a joke. In the light these recent events, I would prefer Litecoin being the silver to bitcoin and buying that. Even then I dont see much price movements in the future that I can ascertain unlike bitcoin and hence would not invest more than a grand.

I sold most of the DOGE when that shilling happened and made a good profit off it. Never looked back at them. I still believe litecoin can have a good future.
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 22, 2023, 10:40:12 AM
For gamblers, there is no "nice hit" because any win needs to be doubled, tripled and quadrupled, etc. They never get satisfied with the win they have and forget the manage their bankroll such that they realize their win in order to stop.

If I win a big amount I would leave and cash out, but that I if I gambled in the first place. Gambling should not be thought be a method to make money for the player but only for the casino. It is an entertainment for the players and if they manage to land in the green zone, they should exit with whatever they have.
1087  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trade Medex on: October 22, 2023, 10:28:31 AM
This a common modus where a victim is shown to profit from trading on a scam trading website and then when the victim try to withdraw that won amount they want a certain amount refundable deposit.

The entire thing is a scam:
1. That trading they did was fake and was pre-determined
2. The money they are asking for will never be refunded. Remember that in crypto you cannot reverse a transaction on your own. If you have sent the money its GONE, no questions asked.

Please try to ascertain where your "friend" got this site's link from and tell them to avoid such corners of the internet.

Wow, I didn't knew you actually hit the number 10000. I thought nobody has hit the number yet but thanks for posting again.
0.31 BTC back then might have been less but today it is around $9300 which is a pretty good amount to win.
Tell me you didn't sell it  Tongue What did you do with the win if you may share ?
Specifically speaking about that amount, no I did not sell, but that amount went into the same wallet where I store my campaign earnings and hence it has been a big boost in my course of accumulation of bitcoin. I have rarely sold, mostly for buying some gift cards and paying for some services, which is a minor total amount.

Hence specifically I never sold that chunk in one go.
1090  Local / India / Re: How do you convert your BTC and cryptos to INR on: October 21, 2023, 06:43:06 AM
Where do you buy your GCs that they get out of stock? Or am I misunderstanding?
The grocery chain I that I buy my stuff from, I buy their gift card which comes in predermined amounts on Bitrefill, and then I redeem them on the grocery site. However the gift card "availability" also varies and often they are unable to provide my with giftcards with reasons "out of stock". Then I just wait it out, top up my bitrefill account and set up an email notification to notify me once those card are "back in stock".

But such incidents have reduced in frequency recently.

I hope that clears your confusion.
1091  Local / India / Re: Oct 1 | Tax on online gaming & casinos set to 28% on: October 21, 2023, 06:39:37 AM
But don't you think that getting addicted towards gambling does more harm then porn ?
Showing condom ads the most that can happen is that a kid can get addicted to porn but if he gets addicted to gambling then he might start stealing money as well and end up in huge losses.
That is my major concern with showing gambling ads on TV.
The ads are there to promote family planning not get people addicted to porn. It is how we take things, someone may get excited and wish to watch porn. Similarly someone may wish to make money and go into gambling. The correct thing is to know that gambling exists and people try their luck but also realize that gambling is a mode of entertainment and so is porn. It is not the actual method to make money.

So take home message, Taxation on gambling (and condoms Cheesy) will continue to exist, but gambling and intimacy will continue under the tax officers noses like they always have.

I think we have steered a lot offtopic, myself to blame (Sorry!)

It's 4 times less probable to roll 10000 than 9999, so, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't appear for like next 20 years, but I know that it can happen today too. Smiley
I still remember the heart stopping moment of when I rolled 10000 one fine morning 16th of October 2016 and was staring at my device for a few minutes and pinching myself that it was not a dream.

Before this there was a huge distrust among the community that 10k for 200$ prize was actually never possible and my post was criticized a lot too but I tried my best to clear the distrust and wetsuit created the giveaway of the ones who report 20-200$ wins would get 5$ rewards on their account from then on.

Here is the link to my thread where I declared my big win: Got 200$ from Freebitcoin today morning, call that a BIG WIN

I still roll whenever I have time hoping to see another one soon Smiley

Oh and I noticed we just hit page number LEET, noice!
1093  Economy / Reputation / Re: Recently woke up asking for a loan on: October 21, 2023, 06:24:41 AM
It is possible that the account may have been hacked, but there has not been any password change on that account.

Best way for them to prove ownership would be to sign a message from their address posted on the profile page. However that is not a staked address as per what I found on their page at ninjastic - https://ninjastic.space/user/id/122968?addresses

A number of other accounts with the username "money" in it have been listed there.

For now, lenders should ask for collateral or deny the loan.
1094  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: signature campaign Vs review campaign on: October 21, 2023, 06:14:36 AM
It's not about signature participants using the product, it's more about bringing people through signature participants that may use your product. In advertising industry, we see popular people advertising the products, they don't use the products they promote but through them product gets known to the masses.
I agree with the point that @Royse777 made, if you ask someone who visits this forum give me some examples of crypto based gambling sites and the first thing they are going to blurt out are Stake, Roobet, Duelbits and so on. They are not going to say BetMoose which is a Canadian mutual betting platform that I know about but very few people here might. Then there is also  the idea of constant bombardment with the banners so to keep the same thing in the users memory even if they dont use it at all.

Review campaigns serve a different purpose, I would like to add to my previous comment that after reading some comments in this thread I have felt that reviews are paid here and hence they are going to inorganic and having a biased opinion. That does not mean they dont help the project, but should be taken with a bit of salt for a consumer.
1095  Local / India / Re: Oct 1 | Tax on online gaming & casinos set to 28% on: October 19, 2023, 04:53:59 PM
The major problem is that these ads are also displayed on TVs where even the kids watch it and get attracted to it.
Government should ban such ads to be displayed on TVs.
Advertisements of Condoms with sultry scenes done by famous actresses are also there, these are usually the gulity pleasures of many kids and were once ours too when internet access was not so common. Same with gambling based ads, in my opinion.

What is needed is awareness to be able to resist such types of temptations and follow what is needed for our betterment. Because money is so easy to spend these days, it must be saved before being spent. A lot of stuff comes in to discussion here and I think kids should be a part of that and taught the amount of hard work that goes in to earn each paisa.
1096  Local / India / Re: How do you convert your BTC and cryptos to INR on: October 19, 2023, 04:49:36 PM
Gift cards have limits. You can’t buy them for a lot of money, so you can’t get a large gift card. Selling gift cards can also be difficult.
Most platforms charge a fee, usually around 5% of a gift card’s value. This makes selling gift cards less profitable when you’re looking to cash in on them.
I have been using them on a single merchant at a limited value per month. For that purpose I think this is a good option. Monthly I top up the account and then buy it whenever they are in stock.

Also I dont sell them but use them only for my person use so I did not face any drawback in this case. You could say that one problem is that stocks get cleaned up very quickly though.
1097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin's Price Surges and Drops Unexpectedly on: October 19, 2023, 04:45:41 PM
There are often a multitude of reasons for such movements and speculating them only leads to more frustration because none of the reasons actually have any concrete link. Same happens in the stock market and hence there are ways to take advantage of them instead of losing your hair.

Because you should have bought when the prices were around 25-26k USD (Bear market, get that?) and place the limit order at 30k USD - if you did that and the price crossed for whatever damn time, you would be in a 5-4k USD profit/BTC.

This simple trick of keeping the order open may lead to unexpected profits on your account.
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Give Bitcoin investment time on: October 19, 2023, 04:41:58 PM
Investment needs time to yield the profit. However there are some fundamental differences between crypto and non-crypto assets which should be carefully understood before buying any from the investors point of view.

Patience is something of a virtue here, you cant hope to make money from bitcoin just by buying a lot today. It will cycle through bear and bull and then you sell it to get the profit. Haste will lead to waste here and the altcoins shining out as methods to quickly get rich are horrible choices often taken by newbies and gullible people.
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Lump sum Vs DCA" for Bitcoin Accumulation on: October 19, 2023, 04:30:53 PM
I would go with the lump-sum, assuming you mean a big amount when the price drops. That once held for long gives you enough price to sell at a decent profit. This means that instead of buying every month in DCA you buy once every 4-6months during a bear market and you sell like that in a bull market. Use the profit to buy back at the next bear market and continue to multiply your money.

This needs patience and by that I mean a lot of it. Fortunately I can do that because I have other sources of income. So that cushioning is needed for anyone attempting this method.
1100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 19, 2023, 04:27:45 PM
Well firstly, dont gamble at all.

But we all would not be here if the above was true would we? Grin

Hence start with a bankroll management, budget how much can spend on gambling (=waste for fun) and how much you need to pay off your debts and expenses.

If you find yourself struggling with this, you may need to control your habit of gambling and start saving big time.
