10801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Transactions Fees x Gambling on: April 13, 2021, 03:03:29 AM
there are so many options now. casinos are understanding the current prob in eth network, so some are really trying to add other alts with economical fees. but if someone insists to use eth, then i guess thats his prob already.
and also, it is better to keep your eth in your wallet. their berlin hard fork is this month. so curious how it will affect with their price and to how much they will increase? and also are we going to start seeing some improvements in their gas efficiency?

The Berlin hard fork is supposed to increase the efficiency of gas fee usage. But I am skeptical about it, because of their broken promises so far. The hard fork will be officially activated tomorrow (14th April). Another upgrade of the Ethereum network is scheduled for July 2021 (London hard fork). Some of the users are claiming that the London hard fork will have a more significant impact on the fee levels, but the Berlin fork will be having only a minimal effect.

Today we have a high-voltage match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. The point to remember here is that MI has win 9 out of the last 10 matches between the two teams. However, the morale in the Mumbai Indians camp may be low after their defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore, while the Kolkata Knight Riders won their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a quite convincing manner.

10803  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 2.3 bitcoins were stolen from me! on: April 12, 2021, 05:37:03 AM
From what I can understand, the OP kept his coins in the electrum wallet and someone hacked in to it and stole the coins. But the entire story doesn't make any sense. The outgoing transaction is from 2019, and from the image it is clear that the transaction was unconfirmed at the time of taking the screenshot. That means that the screenshot was taken in 2019, immediately after the outgoing transaction. So why complain all of a sudden now?
10804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's gonna buy Tesla using Bitcoin? on: April 12, 2021, 05:26:17 AM
From what I understand, a decent Tesla car costs around $100,000 in the United States. So here in India, the prices can be at least 50% to 60% higher. And the average annual income stands at $1,000 per year. At this point, I don't think that a lot many people would go for Tesla in India. Also who will spend their Bitcoins on an asset which will get depreciated after every year, especially when we are all expecting a very significant bull rally?
10805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bloomberg predicting BTC reaching $400K in 2021 on: April 12, 2021, 05:16:07 AM
If we go by the 4-year cycle, then the next ATH should come by December 2021. Back in 2013 we had the first ATH, at $1260 per coin. And four years later, in December 2017, there was another ATH at $20,000 per coin. If we go by this trend, then the next peak should happen by 2021 December. Now I don't know whether $400,000 will be attained or not, but it is possible given the increase in userbase and acceptability during the 2017-2021 period.
10806  Economy / Economics / Re: donating 50% of the vaccines purchased to the government. on: April 12, 2021, 05:06:43 AM
Therefore, I am very surprised by countries that provide their citizens with vaccines from China which are proven to have a very low level of effectiveness.
I agree that the government should choose the best vaccine for its citizens and not because there is a political agenda to sacrifice the health of its citizens.
The COVID-19 pandemic is a serious problem and must be handled seriously too, so it is the government's obligation to provide the best for its citizens.

There was hardly any other choice for the poorer nations. Vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen were hoarded by the richer nations and the supplies were not available to third world nations. Russia offered Sputnik V vaccine to some of the poorer nations, but the quantity that was available was very low. So the only vaccines that were available in good numbers were from China - Sinovac, Sinopharm and CanSino Biologics. These companies claimed that their vaccines are very effective, but now they are turning out to be huge disappointments.
10807  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will replace oil and Gold on: April 12, 2021, 04:56:19 AM
Even in my wildest dreams never have I thought Bitcoin will replace oil and gold. And I don’t think that’s Bitcoins purpose also when it was created. Although it had grown a lot and has been very in demand nowadays, but I don’t think it’ll come to a point wherein it’ll replace both of them.

Because it will not. It is ridiculous to say that Bitcoin will replace gold. Both the assets can't even be compared. Gold is a physical asset that has been in use for thousands of years, while Bitcoin is a digital asset that is only a decade old. And even the talk of Bitcoin replacing oil is ridiculous. No one in their right state of mind would claim that Bitcoin will replace crude oil. It is like saying that HIV can be treated with aspirin instead of Abacavir.
10808  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia; The digital ruble will be launched in 2023 on: April 12, 2021, 04:41:36 AM
Of course, they're all the same. I can remember my lesson in Chemistry years ago between physical change and chemical change. This is merely physical change. Nothing has changed essentially. This is the same old Russian ruble that we used to know, albeit digital. But the issuer remains the same. The monetary system ruling over it remains the same. The control behind it remains the same. The people who can make any whimsical and arbitrary adjustments to its supply and whatnots are still there as well.

Russia is one of the countries that is worst affected by capital outflows. The corrupt oligarchs don't want to store their wealth in Russia, and therefore they transfer most of it to tax havens such as Cyprus and London. In countries such as China, they keep the national currency at a specific rate due to manipulation by the government. But the ruble doesn't receive any such support from the government and that is the reason why it is constantly devaluing.
10809  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: April 12, 2021, 04:31:43 AM
As far as I know the protection that the vaccine is going to give you is going to be limited and it is going to last only for six months to twelve months, maybe I am mistaken in the information that I have but if is correct then that means that we will need to keep getting vaccinated for the foreseeable future against the virus, that is not such a bad outcome as I have said because the vaccine not only protects you from getting the virus but in the case you get it the infection is going to be not as bad as it could be, which means that we can get back to our daily lives.

Initial estimate is that the immunity from the vaccines last 12 to 60 months (1 to 5 years). Since the vaccination has just started, the accurate numbers are not available and these are just estimates. The mean value would be 3 years. I think that much time is more than enough to vaccinate the 60% population (which is required for herd immunity) and to contain the pandemic. Hopefully by the second half of this year, the pandemic will come under control.
10810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another insane win!! $ 1B mega million jackpot on: April 12, 2021, 04:08:23 AM
There's a story that I've heard that there are some casinos that do this. Those gamblers who win a lot are wise to convert their money into bitcoin and later on sell it just to convert it back to cash without any tax. I just heard it somewhere and maybe that's really happening in real life.

In most cases, it is due to complexities with tax liability and overall legality of gambling. In countries such as India, all forms of gambling is banned. So a lot of people travel to countries such as Macau and Singapore to visit casinos. But if they win big amounts of money, they can't bring it back to India in the form of cash, since gambling itself is banned there. So in many cases, the gamblers convert their reward to BTC and then transfer it anonymously.
10811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao offered $10 million to fight Terence Crawford on: April 12, 2021, 03:54:54 AM
The latest news is that Pacquiao wants his farewell match to be at Las Vegas, which is deemed as the boxing capital of the world. However Brian McIntyre (trainer to Terence Crawford) has stated that the Pacuiao vs Crawford match can only be scheduled in the middle east. Since Pacquiao is aiming to run for the Philippines presidential elections in 2022, he may not have enough time for a match at Las Vegas, if he takes up Crawford's offer.

Agreed with you and teosanru comment.

They really need to be creative with their batting order, Samad is good hitter of the ball and hit sixes very cleanly so he definitely deserve to bat up at least above Vijay Shankar. Shankar is okay during the big collapse but for quick runs Samad is good enough.

I understand that Vijay Shankar is one of the very few pace bowling all rounders in India. But when was the last time he gave a decent performance? He had only one 30 plus score during the last IPL (in which he played 8 matches). Abdul Samad is an explosive batsman, but I don't know whether he has the patience to put up a big score. And this is where Kane Williamson fits in. I personally believe that Williamson should have been included in the playing XI, instead of Nabi.
10813  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Elon musk 5000 BTC give away scam ad on: April 11, 2021, 05:00:11 AM
I visited the website and they have set it up using Medium. We need to report it to Medium admin, and hopefully they will close down the webpage. But I suspect a lot of people have already lost their money to this scam. Their webpage is full of fake comments such as this one:

Quote
Just received 5.9 bitcoin in my electrum wallet! Thank you so much! We are with you!

Quote
It works! I Got 1 btc after sending .10 ! Thank you very much!

Quote
Thanks man! Markets are crazy and this is a welcome in these hard times! I can brag now - I got 4 Bitcoin !

They use sites such as Microworkers to recruit people to post such comments, in return for a small payment of $0.05 or $0.10. I have 7 years of experience here in cryptocurrency and therefore I could easily identify such scams. But new users may fall victim.
10814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: April 11, 2021, 04:50:16 AM
Yes, I was lucky enough in the last month. Before a month ago, I joined a signature campaign which wasn't Btc paid surprisingly the project was successful and they paid thr hunters.  I had got a handsome amount for just two weeks of work. I think $2000 within 2 weeks is huge for us. So luckily I was selected. But it not works everytime.

$2,000 from a single campaign? That sort of rewards were common in 2017 and during the first half of 2018. But after that the average payout dropped to the $10-$100 range (and only a small minority of the campaigns were making any sort of payment). It is good to hear that there are still some bounties that pay their rewards honestly. You are extremely lucky as well, as I know some of my friends who have gone without a payment even after participating in a dozen bounty campaigns.
10815  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: When would I get my bitcoins from Elon Musk? on: April 11, 2021, 04:40:13 AM
BTC0.3 is huge!!! As per current market rates, it amounts to $18,000+. It is really sad to hear that new users are losing so much of their hard earned money to scammers. This particular scam has been going on for almost two years now. They always change their website and BTC address, but the methodology is the same. Can't we track down the transactions and identify these scammers? They are stealing huge amounts from unsuspecting users.
10816  Economy / Speculation / Re: get a loan and reinvest it on: April 11, 2021, 04:30:06 AM
an asset last year may have rose by 8% but that does not mean it will do so every year

also. you might end up buying in at the assets 8% ATH and then it drops

meaning invest $1000.. it drops by 6% meaning at year end you get $940
but your bank wants $1060
yep you lost out on 10% having to pay $100 from your own income

Couldn't put it any better than this. And this is exactly why I never take loans to make investment. Even with mainstream assets such as equities, I have a policy of never making an investment from a loan. There were a few occasions where it was looking very attractive to make an investment in IPOs, and I couldn't do it because I was short of cash. I had the option of taking a loan, but went against the idea in the end. And most of the time, it worked for me pretty well.
10817  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: April 11, 2021, 04:20:09 AM
As for the effectiveness of vaccines, I would like to say the following: no vaccine guarantees one hundred percent effectiveness, and no vaccine guarantees immortality and getting rid of other diseases that a person has. The main objective of vaccines is to reduce the incidence of coronavirus and, as a result, to reduce the number of complications and mortality among the population. Therefore, we should not pin unrealistic hopes on vaccination, but we should not underestimate the importance of vaccination for curbing the pandemic and returning to normal life.

There are two factors here. Different types of vaccines are available and they have efficacy ranging from 50% to 95%. Since the efficacy is not 100%, there is always a chance of contracting the COVID 19 infection even after full dose of the vaccine. But the advantage with those who got vaccinated is that even if they get the infection, it will be mild or asymptomatic, unlike the case with those who have not undergone vaccination.
10818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 11, 2021, 04:06:14 AM
The left handers of Delhi Capitals have begun their performance in a much stable manner. The power play is well used, both Dawan and Prithvi Shah maintained the run rate above 10. The opening partnership increased the pressure over the CSK bowlers and that is where things went out of control. The same is well utilised by the Delhi Capitals make a big win with 7 wickets remaining.

CSK was just hopeless. Their strategy of including too many oldies (i.e players above 38-40 years of age) is clearly not working. And another big negative is the poor form of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. During the last edition also, Dhoni's batting was unsatisfactory. Ruturaj Gaikwad as the opener is not working. Their bowlers are also conceding too many runs. The only bright spots from the first match were Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina and Moeen Ali.
10819  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin after the pandemic on: April 11, 2021, 03:56:10 AM
Even do we are covid-19 situation the bitcoin are still growing the prices and not only bitcoin some altcoins only increasing the prices of each. And I still believe that would be having more good news always about bitcoin. And I read some comments also bitcoin will be having increasing the price until the end of year 2021. Maybe it was a prediction only but there are time could be gonna be true, So we must as of now of what happen about bitcoin and we hope also covid-19 well end.

Corporations such as PayPal, Visa and Master are going ahead with plans to fully integrate cryptocurrency to their platforms. It is going to take some time, but the impact will be visible before the end of this year. The involvement of these corporations have expanded the cryptocurrency userbase by manytimes. For example, PayPal has made cryptocurrency accessible to its 361 million registered users. A lot of people who faced difficulty in purchasing and holding BTC can now do that through PayPal. Given these changes, I expect another major rally sometime soon.
10820  Economy / Economics / Re: Janet Yellen to call for unified global corporate tax rate on: April 11, 2021, 03:44:11 AM
White people always vote republican, and they didn't vote for Trump last election cycle. He lost white suburban moms because his twitter use was unstable. I don't think many people were worried about tax increases when they shifted their vote from Trump to Biden. All they wanted was normalcy, aka a guy without a compulsive twitter addiction.

Social media platforms were up in arms against Trump, and a lot of suburban voters got swayed by the campaign from corporations such as Twitter, Google and FaceBook. So the choice was between a president who is not liked by the social media and in favor of low taxes, and someone who is the darling of social media and in favor of high taxes. The American voters made their choice and I congratulate them. I hope they are now happy with the tweets that are coming out of the official POTUS handle. Obviously that is a higher priority when compared to taxes, employment and economic growth.
