I think a very good use for this system would be to fund medical research that focuses on CURES for common diseases and not just proprietary treatments.

Capitalism does not provide equal voting rights since it favours the rich. I hear this a lot. Nobody's been able to prove it to me. Give it a shot, you might be the one. If, as you say, people 'vote with their money', then it is surely obvious that unequal ownership of money equates to unequal rights in voting. If not, then please explain how the equality of voting rights would be maintained when 'voting with money'. What about randomized systems of physical verification of various levels? Perhaps a randomized selection of public keys sorted by a jurisdictional and or geographic area which would then be paired into small groups of 3-6 people who would then either call, physically meet, or mail the individual in question. Eventually anyone acting as a sock puppet will be paired with some one they have met in their locality before and be outed and excluded. This has the added benefit of building local community as well. Another option that might work is biometrics. I personally don't like the idea of large central databases of biometric data, and I would assume many here would agree so something that refrained from using raw biometric data would be ideal. My idea would be a combination personal key/finger print or perhaps even DNA. A specific finger would be designated such as the right thumb, and volunteers would use devices to assure the correct finger was being scanned. The devices used would have to be non networked and immediately encrypt the voter's biometric data with a publicly known encryption algorithm combined combined with a voter's private key. This would not only make the system extremely secure, create a designated unique identifier, it will also create security that is likely to protect the biometric data of the voter for a lifetime.

TECSHARE, could you please explain what do you mean? I´m from Germany, so it`s hard to understand for me, what these lawsuits are about, because judiciary english isn´t my specialty ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) I´m scared, that something bad happens to BTC... Thank you! The global banking system is largely dependent on the US dollar currently, as a result most financial transactions are thru US banks and therefore regulated under US jurisdiction. Exchanging Bitcoins (a deflationary currency), for USD (an inflationary fiat currency) threatens the banking system's monopoly over their fractional reserve lending scam and makes it more difficult for them to acquire actual capital. A good way to look at is is for every dollar spent on a Bitcoin, they can now loan out $9 less because they have a 1:9 lending ratio limit. Therefore it is in the banking system's best interests to either control or destroy Bitcoin and or cryptocurrency as a whole. One tactic the government often uses when it can not destroy a movement by force, is subversion via infiltration. In this case they got MtGox to sign a pigeonhole contract giving them jurisdiction explicitly over their trade in the US and North America. IMO their next step will be an attempt to steal market share while MtGox fumbles, then promoting Coinbase while regulations are selectively enforced only on MtGox. If they can attain a large proportion of Bitcoin market share they can then manipulate prices and or collect massive databases of information about Bitcoin users for further inspection (read fishing expedition for dissidents). If you look into where the funding for Coinbase came from you will find it quite telling as well. IMO Bitcoin will survive, and crypto will never die as long as humans live. I am not packing my bags yet.

BitCoinUser123,
Your seemingly non-bias points at the beginning of this gigantic screed later revealed themselves to be nothing more than the same arguments already made here while attempting to give your own argument validity by admitting your own human fallibility. Your ego doesn't rule your logic, you want a cookie?
As far as documented empirical data, you claim there are no studies supporting the safety and efficacy of colloidal silver, and I argue that you haven't bothered to even read thru this thread completely to read them, let alone research this subject yourself. As far as FDA regulation, it is designed to crush anything but corporate sanctioned pharmacological and food products, also giving those industries a pass on some very important regulations that ACTUALLY protect us from harm on a global scale.
But hey, I guess this one guy selling silver suspended in water is the real threat, lets all focus on him and pretend we have expertise because that guy said colloidal silver is bad, all the while never once trying it yourself, talking to anyone who has, or spending a single minute of your time to actually research the subject.
The fact is people attack this subject with almost a fundamentalist religious view - it doesn't matter if colloidal silver has been proven to be safe or effective because I BELIEVE it is harmful! If you dare to tell me otherwise I will attack you as if you threatened my faith. This type of belief system is pervasive in EVERY field, its not hard to spot once you recognize it for what it is - ego masturbation.

With the recent DHS attack on Dwolla is everyone starting to see the big picture now? The timing was not accidental.

It seems like a larger majority of people on the bitcoin forum are conspiracy theorists than the average group. Feel free to sell your wares, I have no reason to stop you, everyone on here has probably made up their minds on how logical this all is and sometimes the things the majority believe in IS untrue and these small miracles make a difference, but in my mind this is another worthless cure-all and I don't want people to get their hopes up.
Why bother educating yourself about a subject when you can form an opinion on it while knowing absolutely nothing about it! Life is much easier that way.

I remember reading somewhere your body never processes the silver out and continued use turns your skin blue. This stuff even legal to sell?
Oprah had a retarded man who abused CS and turned his skin blue on her show in an attempt to discredit colloidal silver. Colloidal silver is more bullshit snake oil. Everyone knows it.
Do you speak from experience? If not then please keep your "knowledge" to yourself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArgyriaYou have learned how to use Wikipedia, why actually learn about a subject when you can have random people on the internet tell you what to believe! P.S. The subject of Argyria has been discussed here already in depth, not that you would ever bother reading something before forming an opinion.

Regarding the logo, it might not be appropriate to start logo designs before the name is finalized. It could end up wasting a lot of people's time. Regarding the name...
I agree that the name is a very important part of differentiating this project from all of the other alt coins. Very shortly people will be frustrated with alternate cryptos because of pump and dumps so we need to proactively prevent that. One of the main ways we can do that is by making the name look and sound different from the others. Some might dismiss the importance of the name, but people will be speaking and typing it millions of times. it will clearly effect the users impression of the client. Just ask Pee Pee Coin users.
In addition to distinguishing itself a properly branded name can have several fold meanings which can be used to increase keyword hit rate via search engines and increase exposure. One discussion we had in crypto.cat about Digital Distributed Reserve is that it would be abbreviated as DDR. While obviously this is a popular yet IMO crappy game, however the company has spent many thousands if not millions of dollars marketing for the term DDR. The result of this for example if named DDR would be that every time some one searched for the game DDR, they would also be exposed to this client, basically riding the wave of corporate advertising for free.
IMO "Netcoin" is not only WAY too generic, it also has a direct association with every other altcoin ever created. This is a different system, the name should reflect that. First impressions are important. An additional name I had to add to the list is "Distributed Metaregulated Reserve". While I did not find any direct DMR references of much notoriety, I feel this name communicates more clearly what the system is intended for drawing attention to the fact that it is unique, the primary indicator of an altcoin's future potential.

I know cancer treatment drugs can be ridiculously expensive.
While this isn't the only reason (patents are also a big part of the problem), a lot of cancer treatment drugs are expensive because they contain platinum. Having survived my own battle with cancer, I can tell you that platinum also has a number of harmful long-term side effects, over 6 years later I still deal with those side effects on a daily basis. I support this and any other serious effort to find a cure for cancer that doesn't involve pumping our bodies with poisons like cisplatin and etoposide. IMO this is THE most important reason to support this coin. Traditionally medical research is funded by the same companies that sell you the treatments. Conflict of interest much? Creating an independent pool of funds from which to drive research in ACTUAL CURES not just harmful proprietary treatments could change the medical industry for the better, save lives, and increase the quality and longevity of many people's lives.

This is a bait and switch mixed with a smash and grab. MTGOX was tricked into signing a contract that puts itself, the Bitcoin chain, and its exchange users at risk. Mark my works Coinlab is a defacto entity of regulatory authorities of which its purpose is multifold: 1. Force all North American users to comply with FinCen regulations (and by extension global users). 2. Collect Bitcoin user data globally. 3. Crush the largest operating exchange financially. 4. Displace it with a traditionally controlled corporate central entity. 5. Crush and or subvert the cryptocurrency. http://www.scribd.com/doc/139196333/Coinlab-v-Mt-Goxhttp://coinlab.com/statushttps://mtgox.com/pdf/20130503_coinlab_lawsuit.pdfI suggest a boycott of Coinlab's services until the suit is dropped. I know no one likes MTGOX but right now Bitcoin users depend upon it for liquidity. The economy needs more time to grow before it can tolerate the loss of the largest central exchange.

Hey all, Perhaps you have seen this already. Yanis Varoufakis; Bitcoin And The Dangerous Fantasy of Apolitical Money. http://yanisvaroufakis.eu/2013/04/22/bitcoin-and-the-dangerous-fantasy-of-apolitical-money/There are many points that are understandable to me and I have heard some of them before. I am not clinging to some mad fantasy that the future will be crypto-currency based but it seems that these economists are missing some points. I don't know.... Just thought I would share. Statist tripe. He makes some genuinely true observations but immediately dumps a bunch of radical conclusions without explaining this evolution of events as if they are a foregone conclusion. You know what they call people who study something with a previously drawn conclusion? Bias... Additionally he shows his ignorance of the crypto economy by ignoring such buffers as alternate chains, as well as other continuing evolutions of the Bitcoin based monetary systems.
